KIR'YU'S POV

Nothing like starting off a new day by being attacked out of the blue.

I was on patrol around camp, on the prowl for Valmese. 'Constant vigilance. We never know if they'll attack our camp.' Wasn't that what Robin always said? It looked like today he was right on the money. It was probably 9 years of training that prevented a scythe from gutting me like a fish.

I sensed something stirring in the bushes behind me. I whirled around and drew Amatsu just in time to block a wickedly curved silver scythe blade wielded by an extremely muscle-clad man with light green hair. He leapt back and dropped into an offensive state. "I was told you were dead… I suppose you crawled away to lick your wounds like a filthy animal?" he hissed. Dead? Last time I checked I was among the ranks of the living.

"Fie, I have no idea what you are-" I never finished that particular sentence, for he dashed at me again. He swung downwards. I raised Amatsu and blocked. However, he wasn't done. He unleashed a flurry of blows at all angles, each one more difficult to parry than the last.

"In Chon'sin, it is considered polite to let one finish speaking." I said calmly, although avoiding all those strikes had left me tired. He smirked. "They also are against treason, Yen'fay. You dare bring up the laws of your people?"

Yen'fay? I glanced down at Amatsu and thought of the white hair currently slicked back on my head. "Sir, I think there is some sort of-" Once again, I was cut off by his rapidly swinging scythe. "Don't! Think! A! New! Haircut! Will! Throw! Anyone! Off!" with each word he spoke he swung his scythe.

This guy was seriously stubborn. The only way to stop his blows would probably be to fight back. "I am afraid I will no longer refrain from attack if this battle continues, sir." I said, relieved I wasn't cut off this time. "As if. I will never submit to such trash! You will die for real this time!"

He lunged again. Time to end this. He swung to the left, probably hoping to stab me in the kidneys. I twisted Amatsu and stepped behind the strike, caught the scythe with Amatsu, and sent the man sprawling. I kicked the scythe out of his reach and sheathed Amatsu.

"Now, will you cease your attack?" I said, looking him in the eye. His response was to spit in my general direction. I scoffed. "Pitiful." Just then, Lucina burst out of the undergrowth with Christian, Morgan, and a stranger in tow. "Gerik! There you are!" the stranger cried with obvious relief.

Lucina looked steamed. "Why in Naga's name did you run ahead like that?" She asked, and I could practically see the steam rising from her head. Gerik stood up hurriedly. "I found Yen'fay." He said simply. "Yen'fay? What?" She finally seemed to notice I was there.

She sighed.

"Do you believe in time travel, Gerik?"

? (A different one)'s POV

This was bad. Ugly, even. "What do you think?" I asked to the healer to my right. The healer was frowning. "His prognosis is very poor. He's lost a lot of blood. We're talking a few liters. Plus he's exhausted himself. He probably carried himself a long way to get here. Plus he's near starved."

I looked down at the stranger. He was lying spread eagled on the cot we arranged for him, which didn't really help the image that he was still alive. His dark blue robe had a large crimson stain covering his chest which I knew wasn't fruit punch. His skin was ashen gray and his hair, which had probably been white at one point, was filthy and matted with a gross assortment of nature's nasties in it.

"So, what's his chance of survival?" I said, forcing myself to look away from the sorry-stated man. The healer analyzed him for a minute. He was in his mid-twenties by the look of it and- dammit I was looking at him again! "Maybe a 20% chance of living through the night." She said with a sigh.

I nodded. "I'll send someone to relieve you before dinner, Dana." Dana nodded. "Thank you, sir Crona.," she said, bowing deeply. She looked from side to side, as if to check that nobody was listening. "Are our numbers large enough yet, sir?" she asked in a hurried whisper.

I frowned. I wondered why she had to whisper about that. It was common knowledge that we were planning to besiege Walhart at the imperial capital. I was just about to ask when she jerked her head to the stranger who was lying unconscious.

She must think he's a spy.

"Almost. We'll be ready in about two weeks or so. We're waiting for the proper equipment to come for the last cohort." I said. She nodded. "There's going to be a lot of injuries, huh." She said sadly. I nodded. "This is war, Dana. Neither side can escape without sacrifice.

Dana nodded. "Aye, sir."

Jack's Corner

If you were wondering I'm going to do a whole SSBB-Subspace-Emissary thing where I just plop a bunch of characters all over the map and have them unite. Ahaha I've been waiting to do that ever since I started writing! Anyway I should be a ton more-free now. So expect more updates. Contradictory to the previous two sentences, I will be going on vacation next week and most probably will not have access to wifi. However I plan to sweep up the Valm arc and write all the prompts submitted to me during the time so expect a mucho update in about two weeks. I will try and squeeze three more updates in this week so keep your eyes peeled.
