LUCINA'S POV

The barrier separating me from the smaller battles raging around dissipated after Validar and Robin took a tumble. Since Grima vanished as well, Father and I were helping the rest of the Shepherds dispatch the Grimleal. Most of them were on foot but three Manakete, three Wyvern riders, and three Pegasus knights were zipping around, burning and slashing and jabbing enemies to oblivion every time they swooped down.

However, the tides of the Grimleal seemed endless. With each believer I slashed down, six more took his place. It was irritating and it was wearing me down. "Lucina." Father shook me out of my thoughts to save me from death by skewering. I parried the lance, a skill I learned from Father, and cut a diagonal gash in my opponent's chest. "You're going to get killed if you stay up here worrying about the rest of your family. We'll be fine, go to Robin."

I looked at him. Gone was the man whose biggest concern was whether or not Robin was interested me. He carried the fate of a world on his shoulders and he bore it with honor. I nodded. "Thank you, Father." He smiled. "Quickly now. He'll need you."

I quickly dashed through the hordes of Grimleal to make it to the staircases at the far side of the huge room that had become a battleground. I had almost made it when a voice echoed in my head. "Ah ah ah, not so fast Princess." Five spheres of purple light appeared in the air and entered the five nearest Grimleal that were blocking me from the stairs. What happened next was truly horrifying.

The Grimleal began to grow. I don't mean length; they physically swelled to monstrous proportions. Their muscles bulged until they were thicker than I was tall, causing their shirts to rip. They grew till they were 12 feet tall, and their axes were now bigger than I was. When they swung their heads towards me, I saw their large fangs and violet eyes.

"See what happens when I try to merge with the unworthy? Their bodies swell to incredible proportions. Of course, in a few minutes blood will flow forth from every orifice they possess and they will die. Only Validar's bloodline can hold me for extended periods of time, but none of them can do it forever. Except your dear Robin."

"FIGHT ME YOURSELF, KNAVE!" I screamed, slashing the air with my sword. The five opened their mouths in unison. "Be careful what you wish for." They all sprang at me, axes swinging wildly. I rolled to the side for all I was worth, barely avoiding decapitation. One turned and slammed me with the butt of his axe, sending me flying. These things really weren't human.

I got up, reeling from the bruising blow. There was no way I could beat these things. "Do you give up, O thine awakener?" Grima's voice hissed tauntingly in my ear. I growled in defiance. "As if! I CALL UPON THE POWER OF THE DIVINE DRAGON! GIVE ME YOUR POWER!"

I called as a gesture of faith, a shout into the void, a last hope. Strangely enough, power began to surge through me. "Yes… that's more like it. Draw the divine dragon here with your blood! I will slay the both of you!" I looked at each of the five monsters. "I think not, Fell Dragon."

I leapt at the first Grimleal, and he dissolved into a mass of white fire.
