CRONA'S POV
The fight for Mount Prism was already in shambles when we arrived. The Shepherd's front line was nearly a mile from the small shrine in the center of the mountaintop. "Awakeners, while the Risen are invading this sacred place the Awakening rite cannot be completed." Tiki said urgently. Go figure.
"Alright, Prince Chrom you and your men might want to go assist the Shepherds. Us Renegades had our own battle plan in case the Table was abandoned when we got there." I said confidently. The Pegasi swooped down to ground level where the Shepherds were struggling to stave off the Risen.
"Ok, Dana and Gerik, double up with someone. We're short two Pegasi but that's no problem." A minute later, Dana was sitting behind me and Gerik was riding with Nick. "Now then, everyone have their mines?" Taking a cue from Perseus, between the seven of us there were 42 mines stuck up our sleeves. It was time to cause some mayhem.
ROBIN'S POV
"Now, Lucina! While he's chasing me!" I screamed, feeling the Fell Dragon's hot breath cooking my back. I didn't dare look back for fear of what I might see. The border to Ylisse was fast approaching; I could see the end of the thick bloodred clouds, and the ruined desert giving way to peaceful grassland. The change was extremely abrupt, as if you were looking at two different sides of a continent.
Suddenly, from behind, I heard a piercing horrid roar of agony. I turned in midair to see the dying flash of blue flame collide with the nape of Grima's neck. It wouldn't do much; only paralyze him for a brief period of time.
Lucina flew up to me, looking tired. "That's it. No more divine help, we're on our own." She said, panting. "Well then, I think its time we fly to Mount Prism and fix that, huh?" I said, cracking a smile. She smiled wearily back. "Sounds good, Robin. Shall we go?"
CHRISTIAN'S POV
The tides seemed endless. In a matter of minutes the mines the Renegades had brought in were all used, resulting in 42 small craters in the hillside, but the Risen horde showed no signs of halting.
I was still weary from Grima's possession, and none of us had slept for over 24 hours, except maybe Robin. If we were at full strength we could repel them easily. However under the immense strain and weariness we were failing. Even with the 12 reinforcements, Chrom and the others had been with us, and the Renegades had to fight their own army of Risen to cross the ocean to Plegia.
So, I guess the reinforcements that came were a real surprise.
CHROM'S POV
I feel like I'm due to fall over at any moment. I was crossing blades with another Risen who was practically twice my size. Whatever Grima had done it had increased their power greatly. My hands were trembling as I struggled to hold the Risen's sword back with Falchion. There was a snap as Falchion flipped into the air and sank into the dirt a few feet away.
The Risen raised his sword, ready to plunge it into my chest. I looked away as a blinding flash of yellow light exploded all around me. The Risen had dissolved to a cloud of purple. I turned around to thank my rescuer, and my eyes almost popped out of my head.
There he was, leaning on his Levin Sword. "It appears I was wrong about you, Prince. I suppose your deity offers more peace than mine, although sometimes peace gets a little monotonous. So, consider this payment for guiding me to the right path." He said, a wry smile on his face. Yes, it was Gangrel.
"So I'm not the only one, then. There was a blur of red and another Risen crumpled and dissolved. "I was wrong as well, Prince. Not just about you; your sister has taught me more than anyone before." Walhart looked on the verge of a smile. "For instance, that axes wedged in your stomach aren't always fatal."
Two of my mortal enemies were now fighting for me while making casual banter. Out of all the possible outcomes of this battle, this is one I hadn't anticipated. From about a foot away, another Risen raised his axe, and promptly dissolved. Behind it, both katanas held a few inches off the ground, was Yen'fay.
This was getting all too strange. "Yen'fay… your body fell into the lava! How are you still here?" I asked, recalling the fight. Yen'fay nodded. "Yes, that is what happened to the courageous Yen'fay. The one who had the strength to put his sister ahead of him. I am from an alternate future, the one that has succumbed to ruin. I have returned to ensure my sister's safety, and to make sure I do not make the same mistakes."
"I see… so you travelled from the future. Yen'fay, your sister is safe in Chon'sin, she is helping to pull the country back together after Walhart's reign." Walhart made something between a scoff and apologetic grunt. Yen'fay gripped his katanas a little harder.
"Prince, behind you." Gangrel said lazily as he blasted another Risen to dust. "AETHER!" I picked up Falchion, threw it upwards and leapt, grabbing it by the hilt and plunging it into the Risen's chest before it raised its weapon.
"Nice hit, Prince." I turned to the new face. Standing there was a tall visibly muscled dark blue-haired man dressed in red and white armor stood there, chuckling. "Oh, and duck!" a golden blue flew over my head and hit a Risen with a sickening thump. I hadn't even seen it.
The sword flew back into his hand, where he sheathed it in favor of two tomahawks. "Priam, descendant of the hero Ike. A pleasure to meet you, Prince Chrom. I've heard a lot about you." I nodded, recognizing the name. "And you, Priam. In fact after the war I was planning on coming to your home to recruit you." I said, laughing dryly.
Priam nodded. "I assumed. Which is why I saved you the trouble." I looked around at perhaps the oddest assortment of allies I'd ever imagined. "Anyone else I should know about, while we're here?" I asked sarcastically.
"How sassy, wittle Prince." I doubled over, coughing. Walhart slammed me on the back. "I assume you're surprised. Honestly you shouldn't be." Gangrel said, rolling his eyes. In a burst of darkness, Aversa's Pegasus landed on the ground.
"But," she said silkily "There's only one more person waiting. We didn't think she'd be safe in mortal combat like this." I nodded. "Now, if we're done with our little get together, I say we drive this army back to hell!" I said, slicing Falchion through the air.
Walhart and Gangrel guffawed. "That's a change, Prince!" Gangrel said between laughing. Walhart stopped. "Really then? That is just the attitude of the Prince I know." Gangrel stopped laughing and let a sly grin cross his face. "Perhaps he has changed more than I know. Although he is right, if I want my country back I'll have to help."
Jack's Corner
Ah, you don't even know how long I've wanted to write Gangrel again! Anyway, leave reviews! I won't be updating much in the next week, I'll be on vacation. But I'll try! Enjoy!
