Letting out a grunt, Doctor Fate flipped backwards several times from being hit with an energy attack by Trigon. With the city below him slowly growing full of possessed civilians, the Justice Leaguer had to come up with a better idea to put a stop to this personification of evil. Coming to a stop, the mystical master crossed his arms over his chest and balled himself up. Shooting his arms and legs out in a spread eagle position, he sent out a golden light from is personal aura and struck Trigon in the chest.

Stepping back from the force of the attack, the massive demon god growled then locked his gaze upon the helmet wearing man. Balling his fists up, Trigon crossed them in front of his face and threw them down, firing a yellow energy from his horns. Doctor Fate just managed to get a shield to surround him and grunted from the force of the energy blow.

It was a battle of wills. Doctor Fate could feel his shield crack from the power Trigon exerted and continued in order to take out the Lord of Order. Losing ground, although he was still in the air, Fate narrowed his eyes and attempted to call forth more power when two golden portals opened up on both sides of Trigon and several large chains shot out. Wrapping themselves around Trigon's arms, they put a stop to his attack and violently pulled his wrists backwards.

Flying in head fist, Zatanna muttered to herself and had a third portal open behind Trigon with more chains shooting out of it. This set wrapped around his neck, drawing him back and gave Doctor Fate time to summon more power to him. As he powered up, his daughter spoke backwards to cast another spell, this one caused a large ice column to shoot up from the ground and incase the demon completely.

"Zatanna, clear!" Forming a fist, Doctor Fate held it high in the air and punched forward, casting an attack that saw to skewer Trigon through the chest with yellow light in the form of a sword.

Acting quickly, Zatanna saw what her father was attempting to do and performed the same spell. Moments later, they both had the frozen Trigon resembling a pincushion from the amount of energy swords stabbing through him.

Slamming their wrists together, both mystical League members summoned as much magical energy as they could and caused the lights and ice to explode. The massive force of energy was blocked by their shield constructs, but the fight was not yet over.

Staggering back, Trigon now looked more angry than before. As if to let the two Meta-Humans know, he let out a massive roar then reached out, grabbing Zatanna and ripping her out of the air.

"Zatanna!" Doctor Fate yelled.

"Dad!" Seeing the large demon bring her in close, Zatanna muttered another spell but failed to execute it. Quickly, she recited her spell, only to have it fail once again.

"Tropelet Annataz ot eht Rower fo Etaf!" Being a Lord of Order, Doctor Fate's powers were on a higher level than his daughter's. A bright yellow glow enshrouded her and before Trigon could place his thumb over her head for the kill, she vanished from the area.

"You will not harm her, demon. For you cannot defeat a Lord of Order!" Rising up, Doctor Fate had the light surrounding him glow brighter before flying at the giant.

Tower of Fate

Within the mystical fortress of the Tower of Fate, a yellow ankh portal opened up above the library floor. Shelves of books, scrolls, candles, incense, and various occult-like items surrounded the room and the space Zatanna dropped from the portal. Looking around, she saw where she was and instantly got back to her feet.

"Ot rehtaf!" Standing still, Zatanna waited for her teleportion spell to work. She had used it several times before when in the field or asked to join Doctor Fate for any reason, only this time, it did not seem to work.

"Ot rehtaf! OT REHTAF!" Letting out an aggravated noise, Zatanna calmed herself as much as she could before repeating the spell again. "OT REHTAF WON! Why won't this work?"

Focusing even more now, the female magician breathed in then chanted, "Kcab ot Rotcod Etaf!"

Still, nothing happened.

"Kcab ot Pmuj Ytic!" With her eyes glowing yellow, Zatanna finally got her teleportation spell to work as a bright white light formed over her and came down, absorbing her and taking her out of the tower.

"Get them out of here, now!"

Flying above the streets, Captain Atom had some of the League members aid in leading the fleeing citizens to safety. Some got out as Hal and John, two of the Green Lanterns, created constructs to get them to safety quicker. Other members of the League evacuated buildings, but there were just not enough Meta-Humans to aid the fleeing civilians and many were injured trying to get to safety.

Appearing in a bright, white light, Zatanna arrived next to Captain Marvel, who was hammering away at the red dome covering the city. He infused his fists with the mystical lightning he controlled but did not leave so much as a dent on the red barrier. Atom was taking readings as to what it was but could not get his scanner to work properly. Every time it came up with a result, it would display 'inconclusive' with no explanation as to why it would not get a solid reading.

"Why am I out here?" Zatanna asked herself. "I should be in there with- Captain!" Zatanna shouted once she saw the red clad League member.

"Zee, hey, just gimmie a second." Turning to the dome, Captain Marvel placed both hands on the side and looked up into the sky. "SHAZAM!"

On his words, a lightning bolt came down and struck him where he stood. Instead of killing or knocking him out, it only transformed him to his youthful, teenage self, Billy Baston.

"Agh, shoot! Thought that might work!" Kicking the side of the dome, Billy looked at the magician then walked up to her. "Can't you do something? Get us in? Or them out?"

"You mean you're stuck out here?" Zatanna asked.

"Yeah. Got here when that thing first formed. No one can get in or out. And it keeps-"

Stopping his words, Billy saw a ripple in the wall and grabbed Zatanna's wrist. They were forced to move from the area quickly as the dome sounded as if it were yawning. The two ran down several blocks as the dome grew larger, jumping over parked cars as the parts untouched by it waited to succumb to it's inner area until the structure finally stopped.

"Expanding," Billy finished. "It expands every five minutes and whatever, or whoever it catches is stuck."

"The people in there, Zatanna said as she looked over the mystical red structure, "they're being enslaved. A fire broke out, covering the streets and those it caught were turned against their will to follow Trigon."

"The demon thing?!" Billy shouted. "That's what's in there!"

"Yes. And my father's fighting him alone."

Going back up to the dome, Zatanna placed her hands on it and traced a rectangular shape. "Here goes nothing. Tel ereht eb a rood!"

Nothing happened except for her traced shape to glow for a second then fade away. "I, I can't get in there either. Dad, Fate, he got me out, but, this thing, Trigon, is more powerful than I am. Fate's the only one able to have gotten me out."

"Zatanna, what exactly is going on in there?" Billy asked.

"Armageddon," Zatanna answered. "Armageddon."

Inside the dome, Doctor Fate continued the fight, not that Trigon cared for him. The Lord of Order was just a distraction in the scheme of things. Nothing seemed to slow the large demon down with everything Fate threw at him being the equivalent of a gnat landing on a human, a bother, but nothing to worry about. Powering up, the helmeted League member hit his target with the equivalent of a cluster bomb to the back. Trigon, whose attention was finally switched, turned back to the majick caster and was ensnared by chains emerging from bright yellow lights like before. Growling, the demon pulled his arms forward in an attempt to get free but was blasted in the face by Doctor Fate, forcing him back.

Slamming his hands together, the embodiment of order's eyes took on a bright, glowing yellow coloring as his protective aura increased in power. Rising in the air with his body as straight as could be, he held out his arms and had the chains effuse with mystic energy, bringing a pain to their captive as another large yellow light formed out of nowhere behind his target.

"Back to your realm, demon!" Moving his arms, Doctor Fate had the lights the chains originated from grow brighter, with the mystical links growing taught, moving to pull Trigon into the light behind him.

Moving back, Trigon let out a loud roar from being pulled into a portal by the powerful sorcerer before him. Yanking his right arm forward, the monstrosity managed to take a step forward despite even more chains being wrapped around him. His hooves dug into the street, creating deep trenches from him trying to regain ground, but the chains just kept forcing him back. Hunched over, Trigon strained to keep away from the portal and fought against the momentum upon him.

"This is not your world, Trigon. Go back from wince you came."

Growling, Trigon felt himself slip back momentarily when he began to laugh. Flipping his head up to clear the strands of white hair from his face, Trigon cast a wicked smile at Doctor Fate, and chuckled darkly.

"Fool. Pathetic worm," Trigon spoke in a deep, dark, smoky voice. "Casting a spell to remove me from your realm? Juvenile. Your efforts are feeble against me. My harold has given me this realm as my own. You are out of your league, Order Lord."

Gleaming, the gem on Trigon's brow shimmered red. All four of his eyes had begun to glow a bright yellow as he stood upright then opened up a third pair, much to Doctor Fate's surprise. Growling again, the demon god infused the chains holding him with a vast amount of red energy, shattering them and forcing the portal Fate created to close.

Taking a step closer to the flying Lord of Order, Trigon sent out a wave of fire, casting it between every building within a twenty block radius. Those still on the streets were instantly turned to obey him and awaited his will for them to follow, but that was not all the demon had in mind. The gem embedded in his forehead shimmered again, creating a vortex of purple energy to build before it and fired the built up focused energy at the League member.

Grunting, Doctor Fate managed to create a sphere of energy to protect him. This was not like batting a Lord of Chaos, this was something far stronger, something on the same level as Fate himself, or possibly higher. Straining to keep the sphere shield up, Doctor Fate summoned a large amount of majick to aid him, but it was just too much for him to contend with. The sphere cracked. The sphere broke. The sphere shattered, and Doctor Fate was knocked backwards and crashed onto the roof of a building.

"Pathetic." Raising his fist up, Trigon sent it crashing down on he body of Doctor Fate, not giving him a chance to move and brought the entire building down.

Turning back around, Trigon continued heading to the harbor, leaving the demolished structure behind. On the ground, under the rubble, a metallic shimmer of light reflected before a yellow light flashed, lighting up the darkness underneath the slabs of concrete and iron girders before disappearing.
