JOSHUA'S POV

As you'd most likely expect, the plan fell through. Christian gave the signal and five bursts of assorted magic hit the enemy ranks, and five enemies fell. However, they didn't revert to cards as usual; they just crumpled to the ground and didn't rise.

Christian cursed under his breath as the remaining front line marched forwards, weapons ready. "Alright new plan. We crush the front line while Joshua keeps everyone else off of us." Christian looked back to me. "That is, if you still got it in you." I smirked. "'Still got it in me'? I'll have it in me for another millennium or two!" I said with a whole load of false confidence.

As I touched the Dragonstone by my waist, the front line surged forward in a single wave. I quickly turned around as I grew in size and shape, and unleashed a fiery blaze of dragonbreath on the enemy so potent; the sopping wet ground sizzled and blackened.

However, I doubted that would be enough. More enemies simply formed ranks behind the fallen and marched forward. Blast after blast, they kept coming and coming. I could sense the others were wearing down even faster than me.

"Look out you idiot!" Brady leapt in front of me and pointed his staff at the enemy. All at once, about two-dozen arrows bounced off of an invisible wall and fell to the ground. He leapt back as I incinerated the shooters to Archercakes.

"Christian I hate to break it to you, but your lines are breakin'!" Brady yelled anxiously, backing up as the enemy edged ever so closer with each wave. Christian simply grinned. "Nah." He said easily, blasting another enemy down. Brady turned on him. "WE'RE OUTNUMBERED AT LEAST 30:1 AND ALL YOU CAN SAY IS NAH?"

Christian was still grinning. "No look! It's Nah!" Sure enough, A (very fine looking) Manakete was soaring over the fighting, circling lower and lower. With an earth-shattering roar, the enemy lines erupted in scarlet explosions. Apparently all hell decided it wanted to break loose, because the gates of the Longfort swung open and several battalions of Feroxi soldiers swarmed out and starting kicking arse at the other end of the enemy line.

"I'm sorry Brady, I thought my plan was falling through?" Christian said with a hint of smugness as he leapt into the fray with renewed vigor.

LUCINA'S POV

If not for Lissa, I would've been dead 6 times over by now. Before I could process what was happening, all three Einherjar leapt at me, weapons drawn. Lissa, ever so quick on her feet, leapt in front of me and threw a small pouch at our enemies.

Without hesitation, the Perseus Einherjar caught it with ease. The bag began to hiss and spit green sparks, but Perseus ignored it and drew his sword with a free hand. With a series of loud bangs, the entire battlefield was drowned out by green light.

Whilst blinded, I felt three sharp pains on my stomach, and my knees buckled almost instantly. Clearly I wasn't as healed as I could've been. The light cleared, and Perseus was nowhere to be found. The realization of what must have happened hit me like another pain in the chest. As the Thomas Einherjar approached me, I realized they were stab wounds. Blood once again soaked the front of my tunic as he raised his sword.

There was a shrill scream as Lissa rammed into him from the side, knocking him to the ground. He tried stabbing her with the silver knife he had concealed in his cape, but he seemed a bit more focused on the butt of the Rescue staff being shoved repeatedly down his throat by Lissa.

I tried to get up to assist her, but the wounds in my stomach protested fiercely about any sort of movement, and I fell flat against the ground in pain. Madelyn, not noticing or not caring about me, leapt at Lissa's back with a Thoron blast prime for impaling.

"Lissa!" I cried out with my remaining strength. The cleric barely had time to turn around before Thomas kicked her into the air. Time stood still as she remained in the air and we locked eyes. Then, Madelyn stabbed the Thoron blast into her, skewering her heart, and she fell to the ground, unmoving.

I could only watch helplessly as the two figures stalked towards me, their eyes empty of any emotion. These were not the people I had known. As the two were mere inches away from me, they stopped. Without any sign of struggled, they collapsed into their card forms.

A figure, clad in dark blue, appeared silently in the storm and picked up the three cards. Without acknowledging me, he turned, knelt, and stayed by Lissa's side for a few minutes before standing up again and dashing off through the snow just as quickly as he had come.

A sudden wave of exhaustion and weakness crashed over me, and my eyelids grew heavy and I fell asleep to the falling snowflakes dancing around in the air.
