CHRISTIAN'S POV
Gods almighty we were running out of time. Mother and I had cleared the building, but there was a much more unpleasant end looming over us. If what the Fell Dragon said was true, than his entire essence was about to converge into one host and eradicate us all. Time always favors its original course, and it appears that soon our apocalyptic hell would return. Lovely.
Inside the fortress, Robin was trying to imprison the fragment of the Fell Dragon that had possessed the two of us. That's what he told me, but I'm willing to bet my bottom dollar that he's going to destroy it. I just pray his body can take the strain.
Soon after fleeing, we ran into Chrom and the others. "Christian, Lucina!" He cried, an edge of relief in his voice. "What is the status on the fortress?" Oh boy, this will be a doozy to explain. 'Oh, well Chrom your best friend who you thought was dead is really alive as well as your mortal enemy who you thought he destroyed but it turns out we only destroyed a small fragment of his soul, and now we are fleeing the fortress as he tries to contain another fragment of the Fell Dragon's soul while the others come to our world through the various Outrealms to converge and kill us all.' I'm sure that would go over well.
However, I was spared the trouble as the entire fortress exploded in a burst of purple fire the size of Castle Ylisse. We must have been a mile away, but we still felt the wave of heat wash over us all. "Dear gods it can't be…" Chrom whispered. The army behind him was bristling with unease. The ground started to rumble.
"Father, we need to evacuate. Now." Lucina said, her voice trembling. Chrom nodded slowly, unable to take his eyes off of the purple fire. It was beautiful in its own way. From a distance it was quite spectacular, dancing in the light. But then you were struck with the realization that it was destroying everything around it, and it did not intend to stop anytime soon.
All of a sudden, the purple fire began to retract until in the sky there was only a single purple ring of fire. It looked small from this distance, but I was easily the size of a house. Dark energy began to pour from the ring, transforming the cloud-stricken gray sky into a jet-black moonless night. The only source of light now was the light shed from the ring. The rumbling increased in strength as a roar split the air. A very familiar roar; it was the roar of the Fell Dragon.
"I think… now is the time to retreat." Chrom said, his voice hoarse.
Jack's Corner
Kind of a short chapter, I know. But I'm just leading into the horrific, spectacular multi-part finale that will be sure to wow all of your socks off. On a quasi-related note, who's excited for the new Fire Emblem game?
