A/N: here me and my beta are trying to keep this going, fingers crossed. So some more of Troy, things Jack didn't disclose.

Beta-ed: TattoedLibrarian (thnx for sorting out mother/father confusion, the time flies)

Mild spoilers for Adam.

Jack kept to himself what came later when his partner in the form of Antichelies found him. When he entered Hector's dinner all drunken and dressed in some robes he managed to find along the way.

"I see you've found him" he yelled at Jasper. "He's a looker for sure, but that one beside him is better, he looks like he would look good in chains."

"Antichelies!" Jasper jumped up. "These are princes you're talking to. Please excuse him, he's… reckless with the drinking."

He got around the table grabbing his partner by his arm trying to escort him out.

"But you've found the beauty" Antichelies struggled to get good look at Helen. "Her, I would like to slap some, we should have gone to the basement first and then returned her."

On that Hector got up and was swiftly by them, cornering them into a side passage where others couldn't hear their words.

"What did he say?" he turned on Jasper. "There is nothing of a merchant in him. Did he steal Helen? Why? What did you want with her? Or did you target us? Why convince her that she'd seen the future? How did you do that?"

"Let go of me boy" Antichelies struggled out of his grip. "I'm nobleman, this is my servant, he informed me of the conversation he heard and I instructed him to go out and find you. I had more pressing matters to attend to. I'm glad your princess is all right, now I'll get back to my business. See you by the ship in the morning, just take us from here, even if I pass out on the floor. Great country for a party" he said and walked away swaying a bit.

Hector looked after him in silence.

"That is the kind of man you serve?" he asked finally.

"Obviously" said Jasper with a frown feeling shame creep in.

"It doesn't become you" Hector said harshly. "You look like a virtuous kind of man. Even if you're a servant now it doesn't mean you can't earn a name for yourself, or your freedom. A man like that will never let you buy yourself out."

"I'll manage" Jasper said weakly hoping that with his memories it would come to remember that this was his partner for a one time mission.

"I doubt it" Hector said firmly. "A man like that will corrupt you and soon you won't be able to tell right from wrong. Whatever employment he's offering, you leave it now before you become like him, crude, merciless and angry."

"You just met him for a second, how can you tell all that?" Jasper was unsettled because he wasn't far of truth.

"There is a lot you can tell about a man when he's swaying in his walk, and his eyes betray him. He can smile all he wants but there is no joy in his hearth" Hector put his hand on Jasper's shoulder. "Stay with us, here you'll be safe. I can teach you to fight and others will teach you to earn. You'll be your own man, proud, not ashamed of your employer when he decides to abandon all decency."

Jasper ached inside from that contact, offer and his voice. He didn't think of him as hot anymore, he thought of him as a great father. His children would surely lose if they outlived him. Everyone who outlived him lost because that was his role. He was fatherly to his troops, servants and his peers. There was just that kind of flare around him, kind and wise. Jasper forced his eyes to stay dry as he tried to force the image of his dead father as his mother is shaking him angry and afraid.

"You've lost Gray!" his mother yelled at him later on in times of anger and despair. "How could you do that? What kind of older brother would forget to hold onto his brother's hand?"

"No" he said to Hector not looking at him. "I'll be fine" he choked knowing Hector wouldn't be, now he could cry that this man would be dragged around behind a carriage for his family to see. "He's just drunk, he's better sober" he lied. "I have a way of handling him, don't worry."

He slide out from under his hand and went into the night. In the ship he touched Gargoyle again just to see Gray again. He had to be sure he'd be found, that he'd see him again.

"I found you" he said in a vision and they hugged. It seemed like a hurtful hug, there was definitely pain, but then there was dark and he couldn't see anything but it felt like it was becoming harder to breathe, like dirt was coming in his nose. He woke on the ground gasping for breath, all covered in tears.

He looked up at the Gargoyle's scary face.

"No matter" he said out loud. "I'll find him, no matter what pain it will bring me. Now that I know I'll find him maybe I can live some."

And he did live some, and his partner did twist him some, but he did as he promised Hector, he did handle his partner under all their names and aliases, and he didn't let himself being dragged too much into his devious ways.

"You've drifted away" Ianto snapped him from his thoughts. "I'm sitting here in vain."

Jack smiled, grateful for being pulled back to reality. It was a nice kind of reality where he was a fatherly figure, but still hot as hell. He pulled Ianto into fierce kiss but just as things got interesting someone knocked on their window.
