Sherlock's POV
"Grace!" I screamed bolting upright in my bed when I heard the crash. I ran from my room and into the parlor. "No!" I screamed as I saw the man on top of Grace's still body. Quickly I ran over and pulled him off her.
"Oh my God!" I heard John gasp as he came down the stairs.
"Help me!" I called panicking. "She's not breathing."
"No," John cried coming over beside me. When he saw her, he froze.
"John, what do I do?" I asked as my shaking hands ran through Grace's hair. I couldn't think, all my thoughts blurred with panic.
John just stood there breathing deeply.
"John please!"I yelled pleading still John didn't move. "She's dying John, tell me how to save her!"
John finally snapped out of it and rushed next to me grabbing Grace's hand.
"What do you need me to do John? Please tell me!" I begged.
"We will need to give her CPR. Sherlock when I tell you I need you to tilt her head back and give her mouth to mouth." John said.
I nodded and I could see that John was just as panicked as I was.
"Please, please!" I begged as John started pressing on her chest. He looked at me and I tilted Grace's head back placing my lips on hers.
"Come on!" John yelled as we repeated the steps, but still no change.
"Please," I cried. Suddenly John backed up and I could see tears in his eyes.
My eyes went wide as John muttered the worst words I have ever heard. "She's gone."
"No!" I cried as I attempted to give her CPR.
"Stop it Sherlock!" John screamed trying to pull me away.
"I'm not losing her!" I cried and at that moment, I realized that emotion wasn't a weakness, it's what made me strong and what kept me fighting. "I'm not going to give up so easily!" I screamed slamming my fists onto her chest.
I did this over and over again pounding my fists on Grace's chest trying to get her heart to start again. John was sitting back on the steps his head buried in his knees and I could hear his silent sobbing. "Come on, Grace. Come on, don't do this, come back please." I said hitting her chest again. Suddenly Grace sat up gasping for air.
"Oh thank God!"I yelled pulling her into my arms. Kissing her forehead, "I so sorry."
"Sherlock," John said running over next to me. "We need to take her to the hospital." He reached out as if to grab Grace from me. Unconsciously I pulled her away from him and he just looked at me as he pulled out my phone. "I'll call them."
I nodded pulling Grace into my lap. As we waited for the ambulance, I rocked Grace back and forth in my lap as if she were a baby, holding onto her as tightly as I could without hurting her.
John sat across from us just staring at me as I showed a side of myself that I had been afraid to show since I was little.
When the paramedics finally showed up, I never let go of her hand until they put her in the ambulance. They would not let both John and I ride in the ambulance so I let John go because I knew that he deserved to her more than I did. Before they shut the doors, John turned back and asked me, "Are you ok?"
"No, John, I'm not." I stated. "I'm in love with Grace." I saw John's jaw drop as they closed the doors and drove away.
