Exiakaiser: Well, folks, after a few weeks of breaks, We are back with the next exciting chapter of Metal Hero 5D's. As you are aware, Last episode introduced the Data Twins, the Rival Bounty Hunter Basco, and the big Dilemma for our hero, Kai. And, at the end, Kai realized his fate leads him to jail. Now, we take the story to the next stage, Detention.
For those of you who remember the battle with Yusei and Jack, that happened in episode 4 of the series. Be that as it may, the events of that lead up to that story now occur as the series was written, but with an added twist. The Duels happen while Kai is in the detention area. During the course of the first chapter, aka Part 1 of 2, Kai faces his second dilemma- the truth of his family. Will he be forced, like in the past, to accept the fate handed to him, or forge a new destiny by making a deal with the devil, so to speak?
Anyway, this chapter, we are introduced to the 'Living Key', Antares 'Philip' Data, the only one who knows how to access the Star Knight's locations. And to facilitate him, The Dark Star, Pollux of the Dark Flame, is introduced.
Also, for the first time, a backstory will be given for the entire series. This includes a direct tie-in to Metal Hero GX, and an explanation as to why the universe is like it is.
However, let's get right to the Disclaimer, which is the same as usual.
Kai: What a rotten time I had last time. First, I was psychically attacked by an unknown assailant, and collapsed in front of the home of the Data Twins. Then, I battled Rock Data, the Neo-Heisei Rider specialist. After winning against him, I was tracked down by Security and chased away. Forced into the Satellite area, I met Yusei Fudo, and helped him escape, only to run into my arch-nemesis, Basco Talon. Forced into a no-win scenario, I used the only plan available to me.
I surrendered.
"What do you mean there is no real reward for Kai," said Basco. "I was promised that, if I brought him alive, I would get money for it."
It has been a day since Kai was captured by the Sector Security. Basco had taken the credit for the capture, and was heralded as the new King of Bounty Hunters. However, when he entered the Guild Office the next day, the bounty had been retracted. Annoyed, he went to the Security HQ to inquire. However, Trudge, who had been demoted to security of the HQ for a week, was there to answer his inquiry.
"It's as I told you, you Bounty Dog," said Trudge, "The reward was only for information. Nothing more. Now, get out of my sight, lowlife scum."
"You will pay for this," said Basco, annoyed. However, he didn't complain all that much after he had left. After all, he had managed to gain the rank he wanted. Now, all Bounty Hunters had to respect him. "This is destiny calling me and rewarding me," said Basco to himself, as he reached his Duel Runner. He then pulled out a radio and Comlink and said, "This is your new King of Bounty Hunters. I hereby make a new rule. From now on, all of the fair play rules created by the false King, Kai Reppuu, are hereby retracted. That's right, now it's 'whatever it takes to win'. Lie cheat, steal and kill, it no longer matters!" And with that, he went towards the Wastes to gain more power.
-Meanwhile-
For the last couple of days, both Kai and Yusei had been sitting in isolation, waiting to be sentenced. "So, Yusei," said Kai, "Did you manage to make it to the city like you planned?"
"Yes, I did," said Yusei, "And got to duel Jack Atlas. However, before there was a decisive Victory, Security was able to capture me. How did they get you?"
"I lost control of my Duel Runner," said Kai, "Because of Basco, a real lowlife among the Bounty Hunters. He has been trying to usurp the title of King of the Bounty Hunters from me. However, before I left, I made sure to safeguard the Fair Play laws."
"Fair Play Laws," asked Yusei, "What are those?"
"Rules created to prevent cheating," said Kai. "This allowed the Guild to finally become respectable."
All of a sudden, a light shown on both of them. "Yusei, for disobeying the laws of the Satellite, you are sentenced to the Detention Facility. Now, receive your mark!" All of a sudden, a beam hit Yusei's face, crafting a yellow mark along one side of his face.
"And Kai Reppuu," said the same voice, "For your ties to the Star Knights, and your unwillingness to allow others to use them to safeguard the world, as it should be, you are also sentenced to the Detention Facility." The same beam fired at both sides of Kai's face, creating twin, fang-like marks.
"Your sentence is a lie," said Kai, "The powers that be do not want to safeguard the world, but to use the power to their own ends. Unless the person is chosen by the Star Knights, that power is useless."
(The Star Knights) The Six Star Knights appear on the field.
(Warriors of the ancient past) The Star Knights fight monsters and Kallari.
(Reborn in the hands of 6 Duelists) Kurogane Reppuu and his friends appear at Duel Academy, and hold the Star Knight Cards in the air, their Star Knight Bracers on their left arms.
(Their legacy is the stuff of legends) The Star Knights defeat Sol Mu, destroying him and his Dark Council completely.
(However, after the final Battle with Sol Mu, The cards were scattered among the power factors of New Domino City) Goodwin appears alongside Sayer and the Dark Signers, each holding a pair of the Star Knights.
(The only way to free them is to have a hold of their Dark Counterparts and their respective symbol) The Dark Star Knights and the Cross Crystal Pendants, the secret for the Star Knights power, orbit a strange orb.
(This is the story of a group young men and women fighting to regain the immense power of the Star Knights) A group of 12 young people, including Jack Atlas, Yusei Fudo, and Leo and Luna stand in a group.
(And the Young warrior who lead them to save the world from True Chaos) Kai stands behind the group, and holds Dark Star Knight Wild Gale's Synchro Monster card in the Air.
(Cue In 'Burning Hero'- Tomica Hero Rescue Fire Ed 1 by Rey)
[WOW! WOW!] The Sun rises over the cityscape of New Domino City as a lone duelists stares into the distance.
[Itsu datte kimi no soba ni kanarazu iru kara BURNING HERO!] Kai, the lone duelist sits on one side of the Sleipnir, watching the sun rise.
[Instrumental] Kai then rides the screen horizontally. A montage of Wanted Posters fly past, as we see Kai's wanted poster.
[Mune ni kagayaku shimei no emblem] Kai walks the streets of New Domino City, running across a lot of his friends and allies.
[Atsui kakugo wo yakitsukete] Kai walks past Yusei, waving as he passes by. The three Synchro Warriors he uses appears behind Yusei.
[Ichibyou datte muda ni wa dekinai kara] Kai waves at Luna and Leo, smiling as he walks past. Ancient Fairy Dragon and Power Tool Dragon appear behind the twins.
[Sou sa Shunsoku no kaze ni naru!] Kai waves at Leena and Rock Data, friends of the family. The Neo-Heisei Riders and the dot Hack and Infershia monsters appear behind them.
[Inochi aru kagiri hashiru yo Kimi no koe ga kikoetara] Kai then gets on his duel runner and rides into the arena, facing Jack Atlas in a turbo Duel.
[Taisetsu na hito wo kono te de sukuitai!] Jack manages to gain the upper hand, synchro summoning Red Dragon Archfiend. Kai then reveals his true power.
[WOW! WOW!] Kai synchro summons out the Dark Star of Wind Wild Gale.
[Takaburu kodou ga engine ni natte GAN! GAN! HEAT UP!] Kai then attacks Red Dragon Archfiend with Wild Gale. The entire group he has met cheers behind him, all cheering him on.
[WOW! WOW!] Jack cheers as he finally gets a kingly duel.
[Hashiridase! Mugen no yuuki de kakenukete iku ze BURNING HERO!] Kai then appears with his friends and faces a beastly shadow standing in front of them.
[Instrumental] Kai then stands alone, with the Dark Stars in a group behind him.
Chapter 3
Deal with the Devil
Power of the Stars
Kai was now in the Detention Facility. This massive building was placed in an underground facility. Here, there was noone escaping, no chance of leaving unless your sentence has been carried out. The only thing was that Kai still had his JIBAN unit on him. When the Detention technicians tried to remove it, they found out the hard way that it was gene-bonded directly to Kai's arm. This was due to him coming into contact with a unique nano-machine that grafted JIBAN to Kai's left arm, thus causing Kai immense pain anytime someone tried to remove it.
However, at the same time, Kai wanted to be here. In here, he was supposed to find the Living Kay, a figure who, according to the Data Twins, could help him translate the map data, and help him find the Star Knights, as well as their counterparts, the Dark Stars.
"In here, convict," said the security officer, brandishing his baton. The Detention guards were known for being absolute brutes. "This is where you will be enjoying your stay with us."
"You know," said Kai, walking into the cell, "It helps us to reform better if the guards don't use their most hateful comments on those trying to reform."
This in turn just made the guard angry. He then struck Kai with his baton, giving Kai a nasty shiner. "That ought to teach ya to talk back," sad the guard, as Kai walked into the cell, holding his face. The guard then laughed and walked away.
"I'll have your job for this," yelled Kai, swearing revenge to himself.
"You know," said a voice from further inside the cell, "It's not really wise to antagonize the guards. The do not take BS from prisoners with a grain of salt, you know."
Surprised, Kai looked at the guy. "Oh, well," he then said, looking at his cellmate. The guy kinda looked like Lan, but was more decrepit, and looked like he had been given the work around. "At least I got o where I needed to be. Now, to find the Living Key, like I was told to."
"Ah," said the other guy in the cell, "You are looking for Antares. He is here, alright. However, you will not find out where until you prove yourself."
"And how," said Kai, annoyed, "Pray tell, will I be able to prove myself here. The arm unit I am wearing, JIBAN 8, was damaged. It will take me at least an hour to repair. At least they gave me some tools as compensation."
"Then get to it," said the mysterious stranger, "For you have that long before they let you out for some free time. Can you duel with just that?"
"It is based on the original JIBAN unit," said Kai, smiling as he remembered how hard it was to build it the first time. "My grandfather put that one together in a few days. This one is much more powerful, and can even use a stealth option."
"Stealth option," asked the figure.
"Let's just say my gear has a few surprises hidden in the body," said Kai, "Nothing for killing or hurting others, but pieces of a duel disk system I picked up a while ago." With that, Kai picked up the laser spanner and got to work. As he worked, the strange figure and Kai spoke about his past, and Kai felt something familiar about him.
"And we are done," said Kai, one hour later, "Beginning boot-up sequence." He then pressed a button. The JIBAN unit then started buzzing, and the 'JIBAN- JUNCTION INTEGRATED BIOCOMPUTER ACTIVE NETWORK' logo appeared on the screen.
"Thank you, master Kai," said JIBAN, speaking for the first time since it was ripped apart, "I see the guys in the Security group are ruffians after all."
"Glad to see you are still able to function like that," said Kai, "How are all your other functions?"
"Checking," said JIBAN, "All systems are green, even the Duel Disk function."
"Good," said Kai, smiling. All of a sudden, the door to the cell opened.
"You sure you want to do this," asked the stranger, getting up, "They could beat you for even doing this."
"My way of doing things," said Kai, "is to show people what true courage is. I gotta show Antares I am seeking his help."
-Meanwhile-
Jack Atlas was riding his Duel runner around his personal track. He was curious about the strange events two nights ago. The appearance of the strange crimson dragon, and two weeks before that, the appearance of the 12 lights, all were a mystery he wanted to learn more about.
-Meanwhile-
"Are you sure about this," asked Goodwin, "Are you sure he still has it on him?"
"Yes, Director Goodwin," said the warden, "Kai was brought in with the pendant. You want I should have him remove it?"
"No," said Goodwin, "This should be a good chance to see just how good he really is. If he manages to defeat one of the other inmates, that would make him a Reppuu alright. If not, leave him be."
"Great idea," said the warden, "We just picked up Uryu for causing trouble at work. Maybe we could have him face the Reppuu boy?"
"Excellent," said Goodwin, "And after that, if he wins, we will interrogate him personally."
"Sounds like a plan, boss," said the Warden.
-Meanwhile: back at the facility-
Kai and the stranger were out in the courtyard, Kai surveying the area, and saw Yusei facing a guy with spiky hair, using a deck made of ancient relics. "Looks like dueling is allowed here," said Kai, intrigued.
"Yep," said the stranger, "As long as you have a deck and a duel disk, you are allowed to duel."
"Ah," said a young man with blue hair, "It's all those Satellite scum's fault. It was because of them that I got sent back here."
"If you're looking for someone to blame," said Kai, "Blame yourself. It may look otherwise, but you only got yourself to blame."
"What do you know," shouted the young man at Kai, "You are just a low-life bounty hunter."
"I know a lot more than you think," said Kai, looking at the young man.
"That's it," said the young man, "I challenge you to a duel."
"Fine by me," said Kai, pulling out a deck, "And perhaps you can explain a few things. However, before we start, what is your name?"
"I am Uryu," said the young man, "And that is all you are getting."
"Do you have a duel disk," asked the stranger.
"Give me a second," said Kai, "JIBAN, activate Duel Disk Protocol!"
All of a sudden, a series of compartments popped open on Kai's gear, and different pieces of metal seemed to fly around Kai, before gradually attaching to JIBAN's Duel Disk Ports, combining to create the skeleton of a Duel Disk. The, a flash of light discharged, and the skeleton became covered in a strange hard-light construct, like a Green Lantern construct, but silver and gold. This was the duel disk Kai used in his normal Duels.
"What," said Uryu, confused, "How did you do that?"
"After the duel," said Kai, reaching into his coat. There was a special duel deck He always kept in a hidden pocket there. Noone knew it was there, except him, and it was hidden in such a way that it was flat against the jacket. "Until then, focus on trying to beat me. If you do, you may have all but JIBAN. He stays with me."
"Fair enough," said Uryu, "But what if you win? What do you want out of it?"
"Just information on an event from a couple weeks ago," said Kai, "And a single card I am looking for. However, whether I win or lose, I will help you out and teach you about the HLH system."
"Alright," said Uryu, "Let's see how you do against the Power Insect deck. You ready?"
"Bugs vs. Dinosaur-type Zoids," said Kai, "Let's see what you can do against the most powerful machines!"
"DUEL," said both of them.

"I'll start this show," said Kai, drawing for the start, "I summon out 'Zoid- Rev Raptor' in attack mode!" All of a sudden, a mecha-raptor appeared on the field. It was red on the upper body, black on the lower body and cockpit. It had silver claws and a weapon on its back. This was the Backdraft Group's mass-use raptor Zoid, Rev Raptor.

"Now," said Kai, allow me to explain his effects. You see, when a Raptor Zoid is out on the field, I can activate a spell card from my hand called 'Pack Programming', which allows me to special summon 2 more 'Raptors' on the field in attack position. I activate the spell card now, and special summon 'Rev Raptor Pile Bunker' from my hand, and 'Rev Hunter' from my deck to the field in attack position as well. However, since I went first, they cannot attack, so I place 3 cards face down and pass turn." All of a sudden, three facedown cards appeared on the field, followed by a Rev Raptor with a giant pile bunker on its back, and a yellow rev raptor with pincer weapons on its back.

"Nice move," said Uryu, drawing for turn, "But now it's my turn. So, let me show you an even better move, by summoning out 'Chainsaw Insect' in attack mode." All of a sudden, a giant ant with a pair of chainsaw pincers appeared on the field.

"Next," said Uryu, "I play the spell card 'Antlion's Vengeance'."
All of a sudden, a spinning vortex appeared on the ground. "I see," said Kai, "Smart move. Now every time a monster is sent to the graveyard from play, its player loses life. However, the drawback is that the card doesn't just affect your opponent."
"Next," said Uryu, "I attack your Rev Raptor with Chainsaw Insect." All of a sudden, the Chainsaw Insect rushed towards the Rev Raptor…
…only to be stopped right in front of it by a strange shield. "As you were attacking," said Kai, "I activated the trap card 'E-Shield', which negates three attacks before it is sent to the graveyard."
"Rats," said Uryu, "I set a card facedown and end my turn."
"Alright," said Kai, drawing his card, "I tribute 'Rev Raptor' to summon out the Rex Zoid, Geno Saurer." All of a sudden, the Rev Raptor disappeared and was replaced by a giant T-Rex like robot. It was black and violet with red eyes. On its back was a twin-barreled blaster cannon. This was the first of the Rex Zoids, The devastating Geno-Saurer.

"Don't forget," said Uryu, "Because of 'Antlion's Vengeance', you take 500 points for each monster sent to the graveyard." All of a sudden, the Antlion pit appeared on the field and blasted Kai in the face.

Kai grunted and said, "Should have seen that coming. However, that's the last time you get away with that, for I now activate, from my hand 'Mystical Space Typhoon' destroying that card and preventing me from taking any more damage this game." All of a sudden, a strange cloud formed overhead and struck the spell card Uryu had played. "And now," said Kai, I discard three cards from my hand to special summon the second most powerful Zoid of the Dino-types in existence, the Berserk Fury!" All of a sudden, a more dangerous Zoid appeared on the field. It looked like a Rex, but was silver and had two weird claws on its back. This was the Ultimate X of the Rex types, Berserk Fury.

"Now," said Kai, "For the real reason I destroyed your spell card. You see, Berserk Fury has an effect that forces me to ditch a monster on my side of the field to destroy all monsters on my opponent's side of the field. I send 'Rev Hunter' to the Graveyard to destroy your Chainsaw Insect with CHARGED PARTICLE BURST!"
All of a sudden, the Berserk Fury opened its mouth, roared, and seemed to charge up a particle blast. The tail straightened out and opened up. Then the Berserk Fury let loose with a stream of energy that would put the Kamehameha wave to shame. The blast connected with the Chainsaw Insect, destroying it completely.
"What the," said Uryu, "How could this be?"
"Next," said Kai, "I activate Heavy Storm, destroying all spell and traps on the field. You are officially wide open." All of a sudden, a maelstrom seemed to appear out of nowhere, destroying all the spell and trap cards on the field. "There is a reason I became an outlaw," Kai then said, "It's because of the people running the system want something that is not theirs. I seek to retrieve a lasting legacy, and restore the balance once and for all. I fight to end the chaos once and for all. Let's go, FINAL ACTION!"
Uryu flinched, as did the rest of the inmates. The battle between Yusei and the spiky-haired fellow was already over, so they were all watching now, as Kai, called for final attack.
"I now attack with both Geno Saurer and Berserk Fury," said Kai, "Let this be a lesson to wrong-doers everywhere. The fault is your own, and justice will fall upon you once and for all. Let's Go, DOUBLE CHARGED PARTICLE BLAST!"
Both monsters charged up a Particle blast, and fired simultaneously. Uryu was hit with a burst stream that felt like a volcano went off in his face.

Kai Wins!
All of a sudden, Kai fell to his knees, exhausted. He was brought back to his cell, where the stranger was waiting for him.
"Brutal match," the stranger said, "Just like Great Uncle Lan told me about."
"Guess I put too much rage into it," said Kai, "Now I need to find the Living Key, and deliver the message to him."
"You already found him," said Antares, revealing himself. The stranger was Antares all along and hid his identity to test Kai and see if he really was a Reppuu. "You only had to look."
"Well raise my rent," said Kai, "Your cousin Leena gave me a message to you."
"Shoot," said Antares, interested in what they had to say.
"They miss you," said Kai, "I guess I should have looked. I have a few things to ask."
"Sure," said Antares, "But, before we get to that, tell me. Do you know how our nightmare of a world came to be?"
"It started the day Kurogane disappeared from our world," said Kai, sounding somber, "2 years after he left to find the truth of the universe, a rogue comet collided with earth's atmosphere, causing a dimensional rift to open, and the whole world went to hell from there."
"That was the basic story," said Antares, snapping his fingers. All of a sudden, the pair of them were in a massive library, closed off from the rest of the world. "The comet was actually a closed gate to a special prison facility," continued Antares, "And once the comet collided with the earth, it let loose 7 demons from another dimension. Each demon then possessed a key leader, leading to a massive war. However, after a group of the Children of the Star Knights were awakened, the demons were sealed away in 7 cards. However, before they were sealed, the Demon Knights, as they were called, were responsible for a lot of destruction and death. However, the worst of it occurred here, in New Domino City, as a power core, non-nuclear of course, discharged a beam of energy into the air. It lead to a negative energy being released into the air above the Satellite area."
"I see," said Kai, "But that doesn't explain why I am being hunted just because of Grandfather's Legacy."
"It has to do with their ties with the People of the Stars," said Antares, flipping through a book. "The People of the Stars, an ancient native American race, worshipped an ancient crimson dragon. That story tells of a nightmarish war between the darkness and the light. And how the Nazca Lines were born. However, the Star Knights and the Dark Stars were once whole beings, each representing a great Knight of the Universe."
"And then," said Kai, figuring out the rest of the pieces, "Something happened to split them into 2 separate entities for each element."
"Always knew you would be able to figure it out," said a voice from the other side of the table. Kai looked up to see a figure that looked a little like Castor, but instead of red armor, he was all black with violet flames coming off of him. Fortunately, the fire did not hurt the books.
"Pollux," said Kai. Kai knew of the Dark Star of the Black Flame. "It's good to see another Dark Star in existence.
"Same here, child of Reppuu," said Pollux, "However, your journey to reclaim the Legacy of the Stars begins now." And with that, the library disappeared.
"Kai, Reppuu," said one of the Guards, "You got a visitor."
Kai was let out and escorted to a special room. "You must have friends in high places," said the guard, "Director Goodwin himself is here to meet you."
"Okay," said Kai, confused. For the current master of New Domino City to want to meet Kai directly, the probability would, literally read 'No chance in hell."
A few minutes later, Kai was strapped to a chair, with his shirt off. "Mr. Reppuu," said Goodwin, appearing on the other side of a glass barrier in front of him. "It is so good to finally meet the grandson of the man who saved the world more times than we can count."
"So," said Kai, "You are Mr. Rex Goodwin. The man who had me hunted down for my family legacy."
"I see you remembered," said Goodwin, "Excellent. That makes this easier to explain. I want the power of the Star Knights to help me achieve peace in this world."
"That is gonna be a tad difficult," said Kai, "Seeing as how when anyone else touches them, other than the ones chosen to do so, they burn them, usually ending in either a death, or a severely burned person. I take it you tried to get too close and got burned?"
"Sadly," said Goodwin, "Yes. However, I was seeking your help because of your family heritage. Will you allow us to, at the very least, study your pendant?"
"That depend on 2 things," said Kai, "How long I am locked away here in the facility is the first. If you let me go after I give the pendant to you, I will accept."
"It will be done," said Goodwin, "And the other?"
"This next one is important," said Kai, "You must return it after you are done. If you do not, you will suffer the same fate those who break their word in the Bounty Hunter organization have suffered."
"I will," said Goodwin, motioning for the guard to go ahead, "And don't worry about a thing, you have my word that, not only will I give it back, but it will be in better condition than when you hand it over."
-2 hours later-
"I see," said Antares, "So, you made a deal with the devil, as was foretold by Leena." Kai had been brought back to the cell he was in, and given a few minutes to prepare himself.
"Yeah," said Kai, somber, "Hey, why not come with me? You've been here long enough."
"Not gonna happen," said Antares, opening a rift to the Library Dimension, "Gotta finish my time. Besides, how better to keep you up to speed than have someone on the inside looking out?"
"Then," said Kai, "I guess this is see you later." And with that, he left. He then turned to see the warden of the place, sneering. Kai, annoyed at his treatment, said, "For you, Warden, I hereby give you a reading of your immediate future. It will be a shocking experience when your usual shock-and-awe tactics fail you. Make sure you are wearing rubber soles." And with that, he left.

Kai has now bee released, and the race to reclaim his family legacy stars. However, before he can do that, he must retrieve his Duel runner. And that, and his deck is in a heavily guarded facility. While Yusei and Kai both go in, Kai faces an old flame of his. Next time:

Since the Dino-type Zoids are not yet completed, I will have to wait to do them. However, we not move to the most interesting duel in the series thus far, a battle of the lovers.
Also, I should warn you. From here on in, the chapters will introduce plenty of dilemma for Kai, so he will probably continue to be the main focus of the series. So, review, comment, etc.
