Author's Note: Yes. I indulged in a little shameless Apritello for this prompt. I enjoy writing fluff, so this was a nice little story for me. Enjoy!

Love

She was so beautiful, even when she was asleep.

Donatello couldn't help but admire her as propped himself up in the bed. Sure, she was dressed in pale yellow cotton pajamas and mismatched socks, but she was still gorgeous in his eyes. He couldn't understand how he could have gotten so lucky.

Her red hair tumbled in waves across the pillow like an auburn river cascading over stones. Donnie rubbed a few strands of it between his fingers. It was as soft as cornsilk and smelled like lilacs.

April stirred lightly from her sleep at his touch and her large blue eyes slid open. Blinking drowsily, she turned to look up at him from over her shoulder. A strand of hair stuck to her lower lip, but she didn't seem to notice.

"Hey," she greeted him hoarsely. Chuckling, he reached out and pushed the tangles of hair away from her face.

"Hey yourself."

April frowned slightly at the wistful look on his face. She shifted so that she was lying on her back and could see him more clearly.

"You okay?"

"Yeah…," he replied softly, "Just wondering when I'm going to wake up."

"What do you mean?" She asked, perplexed. He cupped her face in his large hand and stared deeply into her eyes.

"This can't be real. I must be dreaming."

April rolled toward him until she was almost touching his plastron. Donnie assumed that she was going to kiss him so he closed his eyes and leaned in toward her face. A sharp pain in his shoulder made him jump backward with an exclamation of surprise.

"Why did you do that?" he protested, rubbing the spot on his arm where she had pinched him.

"Are you awake?" she asked incredulously.

"Well… yeah."

Roughly grabbing his maskless face, April brought her lips to his and kissed him passionately. Still taken aback by the pinch, his mind didn't register that he should return the kiss until she after she had pulled away.

"Then you're not dreaming," she replied with a little triumphant smirk. The smile overtook Donnie's face as giddy warmth spread through his entire being. It may be too good to be true, but that didn't matter.

Drawing her into him, he kissed her deeply, revelling in her sweet scent, her taste, the warmth of her body pressed against his. He broke the kiss and held her tightly, indulging in how soft her skin was against his face.

"God, you're amazing." he murmured into the curve of her neck. Nuzzling his cheek, April giggled with delight.

"I love you, Donnie."

"I love you too, April."

She laid her head against his plastron and closed her eyes once more. Stroking her smooth red hair, he leaned back against the pillows and couldn't help but smile. He really didn't care if he were dead or dreaming at this point. As long as this night and this feeling would last forever.
