Chapter 23: We aren't the bad guys here...Really.
Character David
In the winding tunnels under a Chinese information agency a man and a woman were negotiating their way out of a tight spot. The man was five ten, with army style buzz cut, black hair, a round face with prominent chin and nose and blue eyes, muscled arms, chest and legs and was carrying two suppressed nine millimeters. He wore boots, blue jeans, and a tee-shirt under a sweater. He is David.
The woman was right at five foot, with shoulder length black hair, demure nose and chin on her narrow face and blue eyes. She was carrying a sawed off shotgun and a suppressed MPK5 with extendable barrel and folding stock. She wore black slacks, shoes, shirt and jacket. She is Nikki. They are guns for hire ever since David destroyed the program that they used to work for. Now though they are running for their lives from an army of Chinese nationalists who "lost" some important documents that are relevant to an American buyer, the CIA, who desperately wants information on Chinese military buildup.
"Nikki duck," David said as he spun around and planted four shots into the two men that were lining up their rifles at them.
"We have to get out of here," Nikki said, "The exit is too far."
"Its still our best chance," David replied as they rounded a corner and ran right into the strangest firefight that either of them had ever seen. An old man and a young woman were both sending rays of fire into creatures of pure shadow that were charging down the hall on the other side of the room. A young man was wrestling with a brutish creature while another man and woman were shooting arrows and bolts down a second hall. A third woman had a ballista set up and was covering a third hall.
"What the," Nikki remarked before she had to pump both barrels of the shotgun into a large, scaled creature that came at her with a sword. David put four more bullets from his pistols into the snapping beast that had the lone man pinned on the ground. The wrestling man nodded with approval before joining the old man who had moved to cover the hall way while the two women were covering the other one and the archer man was picking a lock, or trying to.
"Nikki help the old man cover that hall, I'll get this door open," David said as he moved to the man at the door. "Need some help there?"
"Ah mighty timely arrival friend, names Lyndon," Lyndon said, "Aye if you could spring my brother here that would be great."
David placed a bullet on the old fashioned lock and the barred, wooden door came free allowing a tall man with long face and proud bearing egress from the cell.
"Lyndon I knew you would come for me," The man said, "Now I must go."
"I know your family is waiting for you," Lyndon said, "Just be good to her."
"I will little brother, I will. Come visit sometime we would love to have you."
"Perhaps I will at that," Lyndon said, "Now go."
The other man picked up the sword that the scaled creature had carried and vanished back into the darkness of the tunnel that he and Nikki had just came from, only it was not the same tunnel.
"Lyndon you're going have to explain where we are," David said as they added their strength to defending the tunnels.
"If we survive," Lyndon replied, "I will. For now quick introduction, the old one is Cain, the girls are Leah, Lilith and Bethany and the young one is Ezio." Lyndon indicated each in turn.
"More demons approach," Beth said, "We need to move."
"Can't," Cain said, "The portal will bring Tyreal here we should remain here and defend it until then."
"Four tunnels and eight of us," Leah remarked, "Lyndon help Beth, Ezio I'll cover you, Nikki right and..."
"David," David supplied.
"David you two take the hall you came from," Leah said, "Glad you stumbled across us, you'll have to show me those weapons once we are out of this bind."
David nodded and he and Nikki moved to cover the hall. Out in the dark he could hear the scraping and shambling of twisted figures much like the one that Ezio had been wrestling with when they arrived.
"David," Nikki said, "What happened, where are we?"
"I don't know but I'll find a way out," David replied as the first of many demonic creatures emerged from the darkness and started to charge them.
Everything started happening at once, Nikki brought her shotgun up and fired, David emptied the rest of one clip and reloaded it while continuing the barrage from his other gun. Cain and Lilith lit their tunnel up with fire and light, Ezio executed anything that survived the massive bolts from Leah's crossbow, Lyndon and Bethany were alternating shots as the demons pressed their attack from all sides. Nikki had reloaded as David brought his freshly loaded pistol up and went to reload his now empty one. The sawed off shotgun took out the next eight monsters with its two shots and he was able to bring both pistols to bear. Ezio had fallen back and was using throwing knives and a wrist mounted pistol of some kind to drop more of the beasts. Lil was casting the fiery blast less often, though Cain seemed to have limitless energy for such and old man keeping his beaming of searing light up without so much as breathing heavy. Beth and Lyndon were quickly running out of arrows and bolts and the demons didn't seem to be stopping.
"Nikki go help Lyndon, I've got this hall," David said.
Nikki nodded and after firing off two more shots moved to Lyndon and Bethany's hall while she reloaded. David fell back on his training as an assassin, he knew he had sixty rounds left in four clips, two of which currently occupied his guns. From the dead beast that Ezio had been fighting it was obvious that these creatures were stronger than humans, but not as agile. He also knew that some of them carried old style weapons, swords and the like from the ones that they had killed already.
The next demon charged him with a scimitar, David let it get close then ducked out of the way while putting two shots into its head. The sword clattered to the ground at his feet and David then lit up the other demons in the tunnel with the remainder of cartridges in his pistols before holstering them in an effort to conserve his last two clips, and picked up the sword. The sword was of fine quality, well balanced and surprisingly light for such a weapon.
"Everyone fall back," Leah called as she waved towards the tunnel where she and Ezio had pushed the demons back, "Into this tunnel."
David backed up with the others under the covering fire from Lil, Cain and Leah. They all squeezed into the tunnel where Leah and Cain could cover the entrance and he and Ezio got the job of covering the back. David could tell that Ezio was an assassin also, but one from a different era.
"You can handle yourself," Ezio stated, "Just watch out for arrows, the demons are bringing up archers."
"I still have thirty shots left," David said as he quickly loaded his pistols, "How many archers do you think they will have?"
"More than thirty," Ezio replied as he readied his own sword to meet the next wave of demons.
"Then we use their dead as meat shields," David added returning his grip to his sword, "What matters is keeping the others safe."
Ezio nodded then neither of them had time for conversation as the next wave of demons came at them. David brought down the first three then grabbed the forth and spun it around to catch an arrow in its snarling face. Ezio had completed a similar move, vaulting over a demon, stabbing it in the back with his sword and using the leverage from the landing to flip the carcass in front of himself to fend off the arrows. The down side to having the meat shields was that their advantage of agility was gone, and so it was just strength against strength, which was going to be a losing battle. Nikki shot two more rounds from her shotgun into the crowd in front of them but even that was not enough to quell the tide of demons. Then a beam of light burst through the demons, Cain had turned his attention to their side of the tunnel. Behind them David could hear the sounds of lightening, fire, the clash of steel and the renewed thud of arrows along with a powerful vibration that ran through the floor every time something moved.
"Cain to me," A powerful and ethereal voice called out, "Bring the rest with you."
"Blood-Raven is that you," Cain replied over the din of noise from the conflict, "Everyone back into the room reinforcements have arrived."
They made their way back as the demons retreated from the power of the new arrivals, when it was clear David, Nikki and Ezio turned around to see an astounding group of creatures standing in the room guarding the tunnel entrances. A man with pure red eyes and prismatic black skin walked past them to cover the tunnel they had been in. To their right was a dragon made mostly out of molten lava, in front of them was a skeleton like, floating creature, and to their left was a crablike creature with wings and tentacles. In the center of the room was Cain, a being in golden armor with wing-tentacles made of light, a large, red, scaly, demonic creature, a man with super pale skin and a woman with raven black hair and eyes set against almost translucent skin.
"What the hell," David exclaimed, "Ok someone better start explaining real fast. Where are we and how did we get here?"
"I assume the same way Ezio here did," Cain replied, "Accidentally. As to where you are you are inside the jail of Kingsport which is on the coast of a sea that you probably wouldn't know about since you are from Earth not Sanctuary, the planet you are on now."
"So we change time and place," Nikki summarized.
"Precisely," Cain said, "I had hoped that Tyreal here could help us return Ezio to his correct place and time, it may be that we can assist you as well."
"Deckard, Tyreal," the red demon said, "do you recognize anything familiar about these demons?"
"I... why they feel slightly like my kind," Tyreal said, "These demons were once angles."
"There is something dreadfully wrong here," the black man who had walked past them earlier said, "Diablo, do you or any of you brothers feel it?"
"Yes, its like..." Diablo said.
"Like the Arch is slowly going out," The woman finished.
"Aye, Raven you would be correct," the Skeleton demon replied.
"Ok hold up," Nikki said, "Who are all of you?"
"Ah forgive me," Cain said, "This is Tyreal, Diablo, Mephisto, Baal, Malafor, Tom, Blood-Raven, and Xarle." Cain indicated each as he spoke. "Diablo, Mephisto, Baal and most recently Malafor are the Prime Evils of the demonic legions, or were before they got drafted by an old friend. Tyreal is the Arch-Angle of Justice, Blood-Raven and Xarle are demonically tainted heroes from Diablo's second to last attempt to invade the world and Tom here is the last person to stop the Primes' plans for enslaving the world."
"Everything has been worked out now though," Tom said, "Seems the Primes here were being played as well and didn't really need to be evil to have their power."
"So if you all are not trying to invade then who is turning Tyreal's people into demons," David asked, "If indeed these were fallen angles that we just fought."
"Other than the Primes and Lessers joining together there is no one powerful enough to bring war against the Arch." Tyreal said.
"Unless the danger is from within," Cain said.
"I would disagree under any other circumstances," Tyreal said, "But seeing as four of the most powerful of our foes are on our side now, I can see no other explanation."
"Uncle," Leah said in a whisper, "I can feel it, the power like I have in Diablo."
"Uncle?" Diablo queered, "Your mother who is she?"
"Adria," Leah replied, "What does it matter to you?"
"So this is the one?" Baal asked.
"She is," Diablo said, "She is my daughter. Originally the plan was to use you as the vessel for my return but since we have made it back anyway, I've since scrapped that plan. Tell me what became of Adria she was quite the useful servant."
No one even moved for the next few seconds until Ezio dashed forward to catch Leah as she fainted.
"So she was your plan all this time," Tyreal muttered.
"Adria is dead," Cain informed them, "Without your power sustaining her unnatural life she died."
"Look we may not be from around here but there is something seriously messed up here," David said. "One, possessing your own daughter, seriously twisted. Two, why is the angle not trying to kill you demons, and three why were we attacked by angles that were turned into demons?"
"Agreed, long story and good question," Mephisto replied, "Normally I'd suggest checking in on the Lesser Evils but since they are absent the only ones left to check on are the angles of the Angris Council."
"Imperious will not be pleased to see you three with us," Tyreal said.
"Well he will have to get over it," Ezio said, "Way I see it is you guys are our ticket out and you wont be leaving until we resolve this issue."
"Why do I get the feeling that we won't be getting back anytime soon," Nikki remarked.
"Probably cause you won't be," Lilith said as she came over from looting the bodies of the dead. "Tyreal look at this." She handed the angle a scrap of paper.
"Why this... this can't be." Tyreal stammered, "Its an order from Imperious himself. By order of the Great One, destroy the out lander. Imperious."
"So the angles are corrupting their own to achieve their goals," Malafor questioned, "This seems..."
"Unlikely," Beth said, "But it would explain why there were so many of them down here. They were after you Ezio."
"Then they will be after us too," David added, "We are also from Earth."
"Uhh," Leah said as Ezio helped her up, "Sorry but that was too much for me to take right then. It does sound like we have only one course of action though."
"We have to talk to Imperious," Tyreal said, "Allow me to open a portal to the Diamond Gate. I will get the truth out of him about this."
Tyreal summoned a portal and walked through, David and Nikki followed with the others trailing behind them. The portal was an amazing way to travel one step and you were on the other end of it. Before them rose a massive gate made of pure diamond and mounted on walls of marble and gold that stretched into the sky. Off in the distance and what seemed to be impossibly far up was a massive crystal that shone with brilliant light. Then he saw the pillar of smoke rising from behind the walls and knew that something was not right.
No one said anything, just readied their weapons and ran for the gate. Tyreal grabbed them all up and carried them over the gate. Malafor got himself free to fly on his own as did Baal but the rest were carried like they weighed nothing more than a sack of potatoes.
"This is what you gave up to help us," Lilith said, "I'm impressed even with it in this state."
"There is something wrong," Tyreal said, "The air feels wrong."
"Hopeless," Mephisto added.
"Hope... less, Auriel," Deckard said, "She is the angle of hope, what if she is..."
"We should explore some," Ezio said, "Find the best position to fight from, in case it comes to that."
"That would be the spire," David said, "Highest point around."
"Also the best place to find either Imperious or Auriel," Diablo added, "I can feel the light weakening, like someone is corrupting it."
Tyreal adjusted course and they arrived at the spire faster than David would have guessed. Below them was a scene of horror. Two angles, one with a spear and heavy plate armor, the other with just her hands and lightly plated robes were fighting it out on the spire.
"Who do we help," Nikki asked.
"Auriel," Tyreal replied, "Imperious has betrayed us."
"Drop us in," Mephisto said, "I've been waiting for this for a long time."
"Well we definitely stumbled across something worth doing," Nikki said as Tyreal dove in for the landing.
David nodded his agreement then drew his pistols as they landed.
Character Diablo
"Imperious," Diablo bellowed as Tyreal dropped them into the fray, "Fight someone your own size!"
His old foe spun around, "Diablo!" Imperious' eyes flared in surprise as he saw all of the Primes and a few mortals standing before him then got even madder when Tyreal landed behind him, between him and Auriel. "So your partners in treachery arrive do they Auriel. It will not stop me."
"Imperious what have you done," Tyreal said.
"I did what I had to," Imperious snapped, "I will finish my work." He threw a bolt of light at Tyreal which knocked both him and Auriel down before charging at Diablo. Leah's crossbow fired and bounced off the enchanted armor that Imperious wore, as did Nikki and David's bullets, Lilith and Cain's spells, Beth and Lyndon's arrows, Ezio's knife, Raven's arrows, Xarle's magic and Malafor's breath attack. Diablo's lightening inferno, Baal's hoarfrost and Mephisto's frost orb all hit home like a charging horned beast and knocked Imperious down.
"I can not die," Imperious shouted, "I am the angles." He rose again and charged them, knocking Baal off the spire with his first strike and sending Malafor flying with the second. Diablo then realized what had happened. Imperious had possessed all the angles in heaven except Auriel, he literally was all the angles.
"The spear," David yelled, "Its his conduit to the power he wields."
"Silence," Imperious roared as he sent a bolt of light flying towards David and the mortals.
Mephisto intercepted the bolt but even his mass was not enough to stop the blast from knocking them all back to the edge, sending Leah off. Ezio was quick enough to grab her and he got grabbed by Lilith, but the rest were down for the moment, leaving only Diablo to face the insane angle.
Diablo, for reasons he didn't understand until years later was moved into motion as soon as he saw Leah slip off the edge. He grabbed Imperious' spear and wrestled for control of it. He soon realized that that was going to be a loosing battle and decided to change plans. Tyreal was picking himself up and happened to be in the direction that the spear was pointing. Diablo didn't waste time thinking about it he just poured as much of his power into the spear as he could and then directed all the power in the spear into Tyreal. The explosion knocked him and Imperious apart, the spear had shattered. Imperious grabbed Diablo up in his wings and was tearing at him with the tendrils with whip like effectiveness. Diablo roared in pain but another roar drowned out his, it was Tyreal.
The Arch-Angle was now larger than Imperious, his wings flared with white and red power, his armor a crimson and gold instead of the pure gold that it had been, and his sword was now a massive two-handed behemoth of a weapon.
"Imperious," Tyreal said in a flat cold voice, "You were valor, now you are the hosts of heaven, but I, I am Vengeance, Wrath, and Justice! You are a traitor to our kind, to heaven and to all that is right and good. I sentence you to death." There was a nasty sound of grinding metal and a flash of light then Imperious was no more having been split in two by a blow from Tyreal. Diablo nodded to Tyreal then headed over to help drag Leah back onto the Arch.
He grabbed David and helped him and Nikki up on his way over, once there he hoisted Ezio and Beth up and brought Leah back up on the Spire.
"I... Dia... father," Leah said, "You didn't betray us?"
"Why would he," Cain said as he hobbled over, "After all there has been a lot that has happened since I told you the stories of the Primes."
"We used to be truly evil," Baal said as he and Malafor landed back on the Spire, "Now not as much."
"But you were going to use me as... as," Leah stammered.
"Yes I was, but that was a long time ago that I set this plan in motion," Diablo replied as he bent down to look her in the eyes, "That was before the hand of fate intervened. I don't know if we can even be called demons anymore."
"No we are the last of our kind," Xarle said, "The last demons from this world."
"And we the last angles," Auriel added as she was helped over to them by Tyreal.
"I'm sorry for your losses," David said, "I know what it is like to be the last of anything."
"What are you the last of," Ezio asked.
"I am the last assassin," David replied.
"As horrible as this day has been," Cain said, "I fear that we are not done here in Sanctuary. Someone drove Imperious insane and gave him the skill to possess the other angles, our world will not be safe until we find out who."
"More than just this world," Nikki added, "Ours as well since apparently people can cross over between them quite easily."
"Speaking of that how did you three get here," Diablo asked, "Your all from Earth aren't you?"
"I figure that when you made a gate to Earth it left holes open between there and here and these three just happened to fall through them." Cain said, "But if there are portals there that lead to here then there are portals here that lead there as well, so yes their world is still in danger."
"Good then," Ezio said, "We can end the threat from this side."
Diablo looked the young man over, Ezio had his arm around Leah who was leaning into him. "You sure that you don't want to stay just so you can knock up my daughter?"
"What," Ezio asked.
"Dad," Leah exclaimed, "Wait why am I surprised, you are a demon lord."
"He means sex," Lilith said.
Ezio turned beet red and quickly removed his arm from around Leah.
Diablo laughed at that, and even Tyreal covered his ears at the sound, "Its not like you have to get my approval. Though an assassin seems to be a perfect candidate for you and with my teachings you can harness that wild power inside you."
"We should not tarry," Blood-Raven said, "Sanctuary is in trouble, Auriel will you be joining us?"
"There is nothing left for me here," Auriel replied, "But we can not go while the light is still in the Arch, it must have a bearer to ensure that it doesn't fall into our enemies' hands."
"I can be that vessel," Tyreal said, "Stand back." He raised his sword and plunged it into the crystal. All the light seemed to draw into Tyreal until there was no light left except for what shone from within Tyreal himself. Then that light diminished as a face appeared under the hood that Tyreal always wore. Not a physical face but on made out of light, it was kind and gentle but with hard edges and sharp lines.
"You really are all of the heavens," Lilith said, "That is amazing."
Diablo, tiring of the drama, opened a portal to Sanctuary and motioned them through it until only him and Tyreal were left.
"You finally got what you wanted," Tyreal said, "The heavens have fallen."
"As long as you and Auriel exist then the heavens have not fallen," Diablo said, "and as long as we exist we will make sure it stays that way."
Tyreal looked at him for a minute before muttering, "Thank you," and walked through the portal. Diablo followed without even blasting the crystal husk into a billion pieces. He had something much more important to fight for now, the trust of his daughter, Leah.
They arrived back on the other side near Tristram, or more specifically on top of the ruins of old Tristram. Diablo sighed, he hated this place.
"Look there is my inn," Leah said, "how did you know to bring... oh right you were imprisoned here for a thousand years or so."
"Two actually," Cain corrected, "Now the villagers will not welcome..."
"I don't care who they welcome," Diablo said, "Inns have meat, and I like meat."
"Seems like the quickest way to a mans heart is still his stomach," Nikki remarked.
"Why do I get the feeling that I am going to regret joining up with you all," Lyndon groaned, "But the big guy is right food does sound good."
As they were about to head towards the town a light roared across the sky and crashed into the woods back away from where they were standing. Normally Diablo would not have thought anything of it but there was something about the shape of the meteorite, something familiar. He jumped over David and Nikki and sprinted through the woods towards the object. He knew it was crazy to think it but just maybe... well stranger things had happened to that one. Diablo cleared a ridge and flew headlong into the side of the ship he had been hoping had landed, the Normandy.
"Hahaha a stroke of luck or is it fate," Diablo rumbled as he banged on the door, "Anyone in there?"
"Yes we have survivors," A voice called out from inside, "the door is jammed from inhere can you open it from out there?"
Diablo looked over the craft that he primarily funded when he was digging his way into Cerberus a pro-human terrorist organization that was quite useful to him in spreading havoc and fear. Now it seemed that his investment would pay off doubly by delivering to him the most talented fighting unit of the twenty fifth century. The Normandy was a relatively small ship but had four thrusters and a cloaking system that were state of the art. It had enough room for a crew of about twenty and a combat squad of another twenty or so plus their support, cook, doctor, strategist etc. Diablo spotted a latch that had been jammed shut on impact and ripped it out into the open position allowing the door to swing open.
"Okay everyone out," Diablo said, "who all survived?"
"We all did," replied a man who could only be the renowned Captain Shepard. Tall, strong, nicely bearded, eyes that said don't mess with me, and a gun trained on Diablo's head, yes this was definitely Shepard. "Now what the hell are you?"
"Fitting," Tyreal remarked as the angle landed next to Diablo.
"Only the one who funded your ship," Diablo said, "I'm a bit annoyed that you destroyed my tools but stopping those machines and then showing up here is payment enough for that inconvenience. I am Diablo this is Tyreal, you are Shepard and you and your crew are needed, again."
"No shit," A tall reptilian-hominid said as he steeped out of the ship, "Seems we are always needed for something."
"Diplomatic as always Garrus," Shepard said as they both holstered their guns, "Always wondered where Cerberus got the money to build this ship."
"Shepard you're not..." Garrus said, "you are aren't you."
"I take it that means you are going to help us," Diablo said.
"One condition," Shepard said, "You heal Tali."
Diablo looked at Tyreal, Tyreal nodded before saying. "The rest of our team went back to town but I can heal your wounded here."
"Done," Shepard said, "head around to the front of the Normandy while I try to get the main hangar bay opened, you can meet us there."
Diablo and Tyreal moved to the nose of the ship back towards the main body a door swung down and a stretcher was rolled out into the hangar of the ship, Shepard waved them up. Arrayed with him were ten others of different species and human, and all of them were wary of Diablo and Tyreal.
"I can't heal her like that," Tyreal said, "not through the suit."
The person, Tali, was completely encased in a suit that seemed impenetrable to air never mind the minute energy fluctuations that were used in healing spells.
"She can't live out side of the suit for very long," Shepard said, "None at all in this state."
"Out of the way," Diablo growled, "It's been a while but I can still heal with the best of them and I don't care if there is a suit in the way." He looked over the fevered woman noticing that she had three fingers on each hand, two almost hoof like toes, and had the ankle joint higher up the leg than humans did. He also noted the patched holes in the suit where bullets or some projectile had hit her. Diablo blasted each spot with healing energy, recognizing as he proceeded that the main issue was this ones lack of an immune system that was strong enough to fight off the infection that was eating at her. Waving Tyreal over he explained the situation asking for Tyreal to allow him to draw from the angles now enormous reserves to overhaul Tali's immune system and body. Tyreal granted him the access and Diablo channeled an inferno of healing over the unconscious woman.
"There," Diablo said, "When she wakes up the infection should be gone and she should no longer need that suit, I've... we've enhanced her immune system."
"Hmm, seems they aren't as bad as they look," A woman with a shaved head said.
"Jack," said another woman, this one with brown hair, "Isn't it obvious, that winged one there is an angle and the red one is what a repentant demon?"
"I don't care," Shepard said, "They healed Tali, funded the Normandy, know where a town is and have a team. That is good enough in my book. As soon as Tali is up we will meet you at this town, just give us directions."
"Who all is in your team," Diablo asked.
"Well, I'm Shepard, which you already guessed," Shepard said, "This is Tali Zora, Ash, Jack, Garrus, Javik, Wrex, Grunt, Liarra, James, and EDI."
"Diablo what are these people?" Tyreal asked, "You obviously know of them."
"Ah yes, Liarra, the blue one with the tentacle crest, is an Assari, Tali is a Quarian, Wrex and Grunt, the two scaled tankish brutes, are Krogran, Javik, the one with the big head and four eyes, he can only be a Prothian, Garrus is Turian, EDI, the metal one, is an AI, and the rest are human. Give or take a few cybernetic upgrades. Oh and there is Joker."
"Well we have been working with stranger," Tyreal said.
"Uhh, ow my head," Tali moaned as she sat up, "Shepard, you made it! Wait where are we and what the hell is that?"
"Seriously," Diablo rumbled, "just me, everyone is ok with the angle standing right there but the big red lizard thing gets the attention?"
"Well he is obviously an angle," Tali said, "You are not as easy to determine."
"Tali they're both on our side," Shepard said as he hugged her, "The red one is Diablo, and the angle is Tyreal, or so I gathered."
"We have a place for you to rest and we may know some people who can help with the ship," Tyreal said, "But right now we need to figure out what is going on here. I'll fill you in as we walk, follow us."
"How goes the fight with the Reapers," Diablo asked.
"Poorly," Shepard replied, "We are chasing ghosts in the dark, I came here to find help but instead got shot down by a Reaper."
"Would some one mind explaining," Tyreal said.
"Right the Reapers are a super advanced machine race that wipes out all life every fifty thousand years or so," Garrus said, "Worse part is they convince you that you want to be destroyed through indoctrination."
"Wait could that have corrupted..." Tyreal started.
"Oh yes," Diablo replied, "And I'll bet that is who is controlling my demon hordes."
"Reapers," Shepard finished, "I can see why they would be interested in this place."
"The situation is worse than you think," Tyreal said, "This planet has a direct connection to Earth, a parallel Earth in a parallel universe that has no Reapers..."
"Commander we can't let the reapers get to Earth not another Earth anyways," Ash said.
"Look we help you with your fight against the reapers then you help us against the one who created them," Diablo said, "Deal?"
"Deal," Wrex replied, "I've always liked a good fight."
