This is a pretty short chapter, but there is more coming in the next chapter!

Thanks so much for the lovely reviews guys! I cannot wait to see what you have to say about this one xD

Oh, and on a side note. Adam is low key based on a mixture of Miles Kane and Alex Turner, which are two people I absolutely adore to pieces. So yeahh! Hope you like this chapter and please let me know what you think!

P.S.: You know that show with the big headed kid? It's not mine!

"You both really like the Strokes that much?" Cindy asked as she sipped from her coffee cup. It was Thursday afternoon and she, Zoe, and Adam were all sitting at Dee's after Cindy got off work.

Zoe and Adam looked at each other and replied together with an incredulous look, "Swear by them!"

Laughing out loud, Cindy could not help but to think of great it was that Adam became fast friends with her and her roommate. He was an interesting person that had his unique set of passions and likes. Being a freshman history major, Adam was able to spit out facts like a machine. There were moments when he was able to best even Cindy. Also, his apartment was right across the hall from Cindy and Zoe's, so meeting up was really convenient. Zoe and Adam shared a lot of common likes and he could always make Cindy laugh regardless of the circumstance.

It was if they were the perfect trio.

Checking his watch, Adam quickly finished the rest of his tea, or "cuppa", and rose from his chair saying, "Well, ladies, if you would 'scuse me, but I have to finish that bloody poetry project before class tomorrow so that I can still keep my solid C in Neutron's class."

Zoe put her arms up behind her and smirked, "Slacking again, Ad? Good luck with that, the stupid thing took me all last night to get finished. You should know better by now that the work was designed to make us actually do stuff."

Cindy faked a long sigh and looked at her before adding, "And you thought it was going to be an easy class. But no really, the project is kind of long, so you should really get cracking, man."

Throwing some money on the counter, Adam saluted to the girls and quickly dashed out of the scene to get homework done.

"Hmm…it does seem that things between you and your favorite teacher have faded away, right?" Zoe said when Adam left, raising an eyebrow at the blondie.

It has been a week since Cindy had her second class and it was already consuming most of her time. Jimmy was not kidding about the poetry analysis because he gave almost five poems every class to be done. On the plus side, the awkward moments between the two seemed to have simmered down and now things seemed to be mutually peaceful between the teacher and the student.

Pursing her lips and avoiding eye contact, Cindy tried to appear cool about the situation by replying, "There is nothing ever there to begin with. It's all for the best in the end and we both seem to now know it, I suppose."

"Oh, Cindy," Zoe said wickedly to her friend and looked at her with pure amusement, "do you really think this story between you two is over, yet?" (A/N: What can I say? I am a sucker for Meta xD)

Pretending not to hear her, Cindy continued to sip her tea and look out the window where the snow was just starting to fall again. There was only a few days left until Christmas and people were bustling around trying to get their shopping done for loved ones.

Which only reminded her that she needed to get her own shopping done.

Zoe sighed and got up from where she was sitting and stretched her arms. "Hey I better run out too. I have class in a few and should probably start heading over there. Might hang out with some friends later, so don't wait up."

Her turn to smirk, Cindy asked, "Can't imagine what you will be doing with these friends."

Kissing her roommate of the head and grabbing her bag, Zoe replied, "Something that is not meant for an innocent little butterfly like you. See you later."

"Make it home in one piece." Cindy called out to her as Zoe left the café.

Finishing her drink, Cindy got up from her own seat and looked around in confusion. Where the heck was Dee? She had not seen him all day today and the other waitresses seem to know nothing about it.

It is Thursday, meaning that Dee would have to be here to sign off for the shipment of supplies. Then where is he?

She hurried to the back of the restaurant where she saw the usual group of waitresses gossiping about the people who came in and out. Rolling her eyes in annoyance, Cindy continued into the back.

All of a sudden the lights shut off.

Cindy groaned in annoyance and smacked her forehead in frustration. The light has been going off sporadically this whole week and it has caused a lot of inconvenience for the café. The waitresses had to go around and light up candles and serve cookies on the house while Dee on the phone cursing out whoever to get the power back on. While the whole thing was a mess, the customers were usually still nice and understanding about the entire situation. A group even came out from the shadows and performed a live acoustic session right in front of the café, making it surprisingly packed. Regardless, there has already been three different people coming in claiming that they found the source only to have everything shut down again the next day.

It was annoying.

Taking out her phone, Cindy turned on her flash and tried to find Dee as she slowly entered his office.

The office was not too big since Dee spent most of the time bouncing around the café rather than stay back there, but it was large enough where it was comfortable to be in. There were two windows along the sides, a desk, and a chair. The rest of the room had a series of storage cabinets that held hundreds of papers and receipts from over the years. Although Dee seemed to be out of it sometimes, he was a genius when it came to organization.

Cindy looked around his office but was unable to spot him. She remembered that there was a storage closet on the side of the room and ventured in that direction. The door was closed, but Cindy was able to hear some scuffling inside that encouraged her to come it. She pretty much found it pointless to knock- not like Dee would be able to see her or anything- and she opened the door to see that it was pitch black inside.

What a surprise.

Walking in a bit, Cindy's foot quickly caught against the door frame causing her to plunge down in a haze; slamming the door behind her shut. Cursing herself as she dropped her phone on the ground, she got up and felt around for her surroundings. Despite her occasional clumsy blunders, Cindy was really perspective thanks to her years in karate. Finding the door handle, she tried to open it only to find it locked from the outside.

Great.

Cindy groaned again for the second time that day and tried to find her phone on the ground. All of a sudden she heard the same shuffling noises from outside the door approach her slowly. Dee appeared to be quiet when she came in earlier.

Cindy stopped for a bit when she heard the sound, but continued to look for her phone in the darkness. When she finally grabbed it, the noise had come to a stop right in front of her. Cindy turned her flash back on and started to say, "Dee, these guys do not know what the hell they are doing! I mean seriously-"Cindy stopped abruptly when she was able to flash her phone in the shuffler's general direction.

"You have got to be kidding me right now." Cindy sighed out as she saw who stood before her with a wrench in one hand and an unlit flashlight in the other.

Jimmy wiped the sweat off his brow with the back of his hand and sighed out, "Vortex, why do I get the feeling that you are following me? I guess you are not taking this "friend" thing well?"

Dropping her jaw at his forwardness, Cindy stuttered out, "U-um. Excuse me! I am the one who works here! What the heck are you doing here right now?!" She flashed the camera light into his eyes in anger.

Raising a hand over his eyes, Jimmy acidly retorted, "God, I thought it was obvious. I guess your deduction skills are not what they used to be. A flashlight and a wrench, Vortex. Come on. Dee asked me to fix the power outage about ten minutes ago. I was told that this was happening for some time now. I told him that I could be able to get the job done."

Cindy narrowed her eyes and spat out, "Well did you?"

Lighting his flashlight, Jimmy pointed down to the watch he was wearing and replied, "3..2..and"

All of a sudden the lights flickered on in the closet.

Show off.

"Great, you can turn on lights. Now if you'll excuse me, I am going to get out of here so that I can keep my sanity."

Cindy walked to the door and reached for the door handle.

It would have been an easy task, but the handle was not there.

It was on the floor.

"Shit." Cindy breathed out as she picked it up and turned to Jimmy.

All of a sudden a pounding came from the other side of the door and Dee's voice arose, "James? Are you in there still? The lights came on!"

Cindy called back, "Dee, I'm in here too!"

"Both of you in a shut closet? Oooh James. I didn't know you were the type."

Rolling her eyes, Cindy called out again, "Dee focus! The handle on this side broke from the door and now we are stuck in here. Can you try and open it from the other side?"

She heard some grunting and fidgeting from Dee for a couple of minutes and the door rattled from the other side. Dee finally stopped and replied back, "I cannot. The door is jammed from this side! What were you two doing that made the handle fall out?"

Jimmy called out finally and said, "Dee I have a laser on my watch that will be able to cut through the door. We should be able to escape in about three minutes."

Cindy could literally hear Dee gasp from the other side of the door before he called back, "You will do no such thing! This door has stood here since the very beginning and is going to stay that way. You two just settle down for a bit while I get the locksmith on the phone. It won't be long, so try to keep your hands off each other." With that, the two heard footsteps move away from the door, leaving them alone for the time being.

"I don't understand why he is so obsessed with this door. I could have us out in a blink of an eye," Jimmy said as he slid down the side wall to the floor.

Sighing, Cindy slid down a respectable distance away from him to the floor and replied, "Do you really think that he cares about the door? Do you not think there is some other motive behind this?"

Jimmy did not reply.

Cindy looked up at the now lit ceiling and bit her bottom lip.

This was going to be a long wait.

C'mon Cindy, we all know that you are secretly happy inside :3
