Sherlock

Slowly I opened my eyes and the sun blinded me.

"Well good morning Sherlock." I heard Moriarty say.

Groaning I looked to see Moriarty standing next to Grace holding a gun to her head. Grace stood in a black sports bra and jeans.

"Moriarty just let her go; she doesn't need to be a part of this. It's just between you and me."

"Oh but Sherlock are wrong. She is a part of this. She has always been a part of this. I love her. And you obviously can see why. She is gorgeous." I watched as Grace cringed as Moriarty grabbed her cheeks with his hands.

"Don't touch her!" I snapped trying to break free but as I shook the handcuffs, I felt them digging into my wrists.

"She's my prize." Moriarty smiled.

"She is not!" I snapped.

"Sherlock, Sherlock, you failed, just accept it." He said walking towards me leaving Grace standing alone.

"Run!' I yelled at her, but she just stayed staring at me, tears streaming down her face. "Please run,"

"She won't run Sherlock." Moriarty smiled.

"What did you do to her!"

"Nothing, I just offered her a deal."

"What deal." I asked as I watched Grace hold her hand over her mouth her sobs becoming more violent.

"I promised her that I would leave you and John alone, and never bother you again."

"Under what conditions?" I asked knowing Moriarty wouldn't just give up.

"Under the conditions that I get to kill her." He smiled.

"No Grace!" I screamed trying to break the chains. "Please run."

"Sherlock, she would rather die than see something bad happen to you or John, I'm just giving her what she wants."

"Kill me instead," I pleaded. "Just please don't hurt her."

"I can't break a deal." Moriarty smiled.

I turned away trying to hide the tears. Closing my eyes, I hoped that this was all just a dream. But as I hear Grace's soft voice mutter my name I knew it wasn't. I looked up to see her sad eyes staring into mine. "I love you." She whispered.

"Please don't do this." I begged.

Suddenly Moriarty turned around and fired. Everything when silent a part from the gunshot, I watched in horror as Grace slumped forward grabbing her stomach. Slowly she looked up at me before she tumbled backwards over the edge of the roof.

"No!" I screamed tears streaming down my face as I stared the spot where Grace fell. My heart felt as if it had been ripped from my chest.

Moriarty walked back over to me putting his gun away. I didn't even look at him. I just stared blankly. Suddenly I felt the chains be unlocked and I turned to see Moriarty was the one who unlocked them. As soon as he had taken them off. I quickly shoved him into the wall grabbing his gun and putting it against his forehead.

"Wait!" He said, and I should've pulled the trigger right then and there but for some reason I waited, for some reason I stopped. "Don't you want to see Grace one last time?"

"Don't joke," I said pushing the gun harder.

"She's alive," Moriarty said, "But barely, she fell onto a roof that was just about eight feet lower than this one. You might have a chance of saving her."

I dropped the gun, running over to the edge of the building. Looking down I could see that Moriarty was telling the truth, the next building was less than ten feet down. I saw Grace, her hair spread out around her head like a halo. Already I could see blood pooling around her middle. I jumped to the other roof quickly pulling Grace into my arms. I placed my hand on her stomach trying to stop the bleeding.

"Gracie, please, please, wake up, please be ok. We have so many things we were going to do. What about Paris? I promised you Paris for Christmas, don't' make me break my promise, please Grace, please." I begged burying my face in her hair.

"Sherlock," I heard her mumble.

"Grace?" I gasped looking at her.

"Hi," She smiled weakly.

"Hi," My voice cracked as I rocked her back and forth.

"I'm s…sorry." She winced in pain.

"Shh," I said pulling her closer. "It was my fault, I should have been smarter, or stronger, I failed you." I cried.

"No, Sherlock, no," She said placing her shaking hand on my cheek. "There was nothing you could have done. It was my choice." She gasped out in pain.

"Grace, please hang on for me, please." I begged and I could almost feel her slipping away.

"I love you," She muttered as she slowly leaned up and kissed me softly. As we broke apart, I saw her head start to lull back and her eyes starting to close.

"NO Grace, what about John!" I said shaking her awake.

"John," She mumbled.

"Yes, John, your brother. You can't die. I promised him I would bring you back. I'm going to take you to the hospital, please don't leave me."

"Sherlock," She ground as I slowly picked her up into my arms and started walking.

"Please don't leave, stay awake, stay alive for me. Please promise me."

"Sherlock, I can't promise that…"

"Please Grace, please." I begged as I tried to figure a way off the roof.

"Okay Sherlock, I promise." She muttered.

"Thank you," I breathed kissing her forehead.

It took me ten minutes to find a way back to the street. I curse at myself for taking so long knowing that it was time I didn't have.

I knew that I was a good mile away from the hospital, but I couldn't run any faster because when I tired Grace screamed in pain. My slow jog however was getting us now where.

"I'm tired Sherlock." Grace muttered.

"I know baby, I know, but you have to stay awake." I said looking down at her. "John!" I gasped as I looked up seeing him running towards us.

"Grace!" he yelled as he looked at her.

"How did you find us?" I asked as he walked beside me checking Grace's pulse.

"Moriarty gave me a clue, what happened?"

"I'm sorry John, I'm sorry." Grace cried as John quickly placed his hand on her stomach trying to stop the bleeding.

"Shh, Gracie, you're fine." He soothed. "What happened!" He snapped at me.

"She made a deal with Moriarty, she sacrificed herself to keep us safe." I could feel the lump growing my throat.

"Oh Grace," He sighed and I could hear the sadness in his voice.

"How much longer does she have?" I asked.

"Maybe another ten minutes, we need to hurry." John said.

"John," Grace said grabbing his hand.

"Yes Gracie."

"I love you." She muttered softly.

"I love you too." John said as he held her hand up to his face. Quickly he turned away and I could see tears streaming down his face as well.

As we continued down the street, it felt as if we weren't getting any closer.

"How much longer?" John said turning around so he was looking at me.

"Two more block." I said but John had stopped. "What's wrong?" He was looking at Grace. Slowly I looked down and saw that Grace's eyes were closed. "No!" I screamed shaking her. "You promised." I cried.

"Sherlock stop," John said placing his hands on my shoulder. "We need to get her to the hospital that's all we can do now."

I nodded as I quickly started to run, tears in my eyes.

"Please help her!" I yelled as we entered St. Barts.

Doctors brought over a gurney and I gently laid Grace on it, never letting go of her hand. We rolled her through hallway after hallway.

"Sir, you can't come in here." They told me as they rolled Grace through a pair of double doors.

"I have to stay with her!" I demanded.

"Sherlock," John said as he pulled me back.

"But…" I started however when I looked into John's eyes, I backed up. My back hit the wall and I slowly slid to the ground pulling my knees to my chest.

For hours I watched John pace back as I sat on the ground rocking back and forth saying. "She can't leave, she promised." Over and over again.

I held my breath as the door opened and a Doctor, who was coved in blood, came out and stood.

"I'm Doctor Jameson." He said as he took off his blood-covered gloves.

"How is she?" I asked standing up.

He looked at me with sad eyes as he shook his head. "I'm so sorry, we lost her."

I fell to my knees staring at my hands and clothes that were covered in Grace's blood. "She promised!" I screamed and my body was racked with sobs.
