"The Mysterious Talking Egg"
Please enjoy and review!
The sun shone down from the cerulean blue sky and warmed the wide open field filled with emerald green grass.
Looking down at herself, Daina was surprised to find she was wearing new clothing which she didn't own.
On her feet were a pair of orange high top converse, she wore lighwash jeans, a white spaghetti strapped top, yellow fingerless gloves and she wore a black jacket that had flame designs on the bottom while faux fur adorned the neck and waistline.
Shaking off the strange fact that her clothing had changed, Daina then started walking along the field and was glancing around in amazement and she smiled in awe when she saw the purple flowers that were the size of a soccer ball.
Suddenly, the green plants in the ground began to sway which caught her attention and she walked over to see what was causing them to move.
Kneeling down, she reached out to touch the green plants and was stunned when it jumped out of the ground and revealed that the plant was attached to an adorable round creature with brown eyes and tiny paws.
Several more of them popped out of the ground which made Daina fall back on her rear in surprise at the sight while the creatures giggled and ran off to go play.
"What the heck is going on here?" Daina questioned as she looked around.
"Daisuke! Daisuke!" A voice called.
Head picking up, Daina glanced over to the forest where she had heard her name being called.
"Hello, who's there?" She called back.
"Come find me!" The voice said as it was carried on the winds.
Pushing herself up, Daina then rushed off to follow the voice and ran into the forest, jumping over large tree roots as she did so.
"Where are you?" Daina called out.
"Daisuke..." The voice echoed.
Panting, the girl stopped her run as she came to the front of a cave.
There didn't seem to be anything frightening or dangerous about the cave, but she walked towards it carefully as she glanced around to see if any wolves or bears had made it their home.
Seeing it was safe, the girl ventured inside to find the person who was calling out her name.
"I'm coming for you. Who are you anyway?" She asked.
"I'm your friend. I've been waiting a really long time to meet you." The voice spoke with innocent excitement.
It made her wonder if this person was really a child, but their words confused her.
"Waiting for me? Why have you been waiting for me?" Daina questioned.
"Because we're friends! We're destined to be together." The voice said.
Following the voice, Daina found herself at the end of the cave and stared forward at what she found.
A hole was in the top of the cave and it shone down on a strange orange and red egg that had a blade sticking out of it and had an eight pointed sun symbol painted on it.
"That had to hurt the chicken that laid that egg." Daina commented.
"A chicken didn't lay me!" The voice chimmed again with a laugh.
"Okay, where are you?" Daina frowned as she glanced around.
"I'm right in front of you. Down here. Hi!" The voice chirped.
Eyes moving downwards, Daina stared at the egg and was surprised to find that the voice was coming from it.
"What the heck? How are you inside the egg?" She asked.
"I don't know. I was born inside of it. Weren't you born inside of an egg?" The voice asked.
"Um, well, in a way..." Daina trailed off as she was unsure of how to answer.
She didn't understand anything about how humans were created and didn't want to learn for a while yet.
"Why haven't you hatched yet?" She asked instead.
"I can't. Not until you come find me." The voice said.
"Huh? But I did find you." She told him looking confused.
"No you didn't. You're not here. This is just a dream." The voice told her sadly.
"What do you mean?" Daina asked as she kneeled down in front of the egg.
"I'm not sure how, but we're only talking to each other in our dreams. I hope one day we can talk to each other for real and see each other." The voice said.
"Wait, who are you? Where are you? Tell me how I can find you!" Daina said as she reached out and cupped her hands around the egg.
Orange light shone from the egg as soon as she touched the shell and it shined around her, blinding the Keeper.
Eyes snapping open and glowing gold, Daina gasped lightly as she glanced around her new room (she finally didn't have to share with Phoebe anymore since Leo cleaned out Penny Halliwell's old room while the sisters fixed it up) and tried to detect anything different about it.
Reaching over to her bedside table, she switched on the lamp to illuminate the room in the pale light and found that everything was normal.
Sighing, the girl's eyes returned to their normal chocolate brown and she leaned back in bed.
"Man, what was up with that dream?" She groaned.
Deciding to ignore the strange dream for the time being, the girl reached over to turn her lamp off and then cuddled back into her bed as she pulled the plum colored comforter over her.
(The next day...)
Standing in front of the floor length mirror in her room, Daina turned as she took in the sight of her outfit while Kit sat on the bed watching the girl.
"Okay, I think I'm ready. This looks good for a high school reunion party, right?" Daina asked the cat.
Kit meowed at the girl who was wearing a teal colored spaghetti strapped top that had ruffles on the front, a new pair of skinny jeans being held up by a black belt and a pair of white tennis shoes.
"Thanks." Daina shook her head in amusement at the cat as she then pulled her hair up into a ponytail while her bangs fell free around her face.
Today was Piper's high school reunion and the brown haired woman was panicking since she had such a terrible time at Baker High when she attended.
The party was also being held at P3 and Piper was in charge of providing the food as well which only served to stress the poor woman out even further.
"I guess this is as good as it's gonna get." Daina sighed.
Grabbing her locket off of her vanity, the girl clasped it around her neck and then stared at her reflection as she took in her appearance to see how much she had changed over the past few months she had lived in California.
Her tanned skin had a healthy glow, her mahogany hair was soft and shiny, she wasn't as thin as she used to be and she looked happy.
Living in the Halliwell house had been good for her, even if she did have to vanquish demons.
"Come on, Kit. Let's go." The Keeper said.
Mewing, the cat followed after the girl as she walked out of the room and started going downstairs.
Prue and Leo then walked out of the kitchen and stood by the foot of the stairs to wait on Piper to finish getting dressed and looked over the poster that had pictures of the 18 year old versions of the adults who graduated from Baker High and would be attending the party that was being held at P3.
"Hey guys." Daina greeted making the two adults look up at the girl.
"Hey honey." Prue smiled.
"Is this okay for the party or should I change into something else?" The mahogany haired girl asked.
"No, you look perfect, really." Prue assured.
"Why are you so conserned about how you look? This is Piper's reunion." Leo said.
"Yeah, I know, that's why I wanna make sure I look okay. To take some stress off of her." Daina told him.
"Um, I'm not a girl so I probably don't understand this, but how does the way you're dressed help take the stress off of Piper?" Leo asked looking confused.
"Because I really don't think she wants any of her sisters showing up looking like train wrecks since she'll feel like everyone would be judging her because of it." Daina explained.
Kit purred as she wound herself around the girl's legs, asking for attention and the witch bent down to pick up the cat.
Leo still appeared confused by this and turned his attention over to Prue.
"All right, I know that it sounds like she's being a little neurotic, but high school was hard for her." Prue said as she gestured to the picture of 18 year old Piper who had glasses, braces and acne.
"Really, really hard. You know, she was kind of like Jan Brady. The middle sister, not quite sure where she fits in." Prue said.
"Jan who?" Leo asked.
"Yeah, I'm kind of blanking on that one too." Daina agreed.
Prue simply hummed as she noted that the two had never seen the classic TV show before.
"Okay, ready or not, here I come!" Piper's voice sounded from upstairs.
"Okay, no matter what, just be supportive." Prue told the White Lighter as everyone moved to the base of the stairs.
To everyone's surprise, Piper came down in a skin tight black dress that had feathers at the bottom of the skirt and her hair was curled and looked large while she wore dark red lipstick and faux diamond earrings with a macthing, bulky necklace.
"Hi, um, you look great." Prue forced a smile along with Daina and Leo.
"Really great." Daina chirped.
"Really, really, really great." Leo said.
Piper, who knew from the start that her sisters and boyfriend were stunned by her outfit, knew that they had a problem with it after Leo spoke.
"Leo, two reallys would have been plenty. I look rediculous." Piper stated.
"No!" Daina, Prue and Leo protested.
"I mean with the feathers..." Prue said.
"And the hair..." Daina commented.
"Really, it's..." Leo trailed off.
"Yeah." Prue sighed in defeat.
"Great, I'm going to go to my ten year reunion and win 'most likely to scare people away at the door.'" Piper ranted as she walked off of the steps.
Prue gave Leo a look as she slapped his arm to get him to go comfort his girlfriend and he did so while Daina watched as she pet a purring Kit.
"Come on, Piper, isn't this susposed to be a fun thing? You know, going back and seeing all your old friends?" Leo asked.
After wipping her lipstick off with a napkin, Piper then gave the dark-blond haired man a look.
"You weren't by any chance popular in high school were you?" She inquired.
"Well, I was... I mean... Is there a right answer to this?" Leo asked as Piper placed her hands on her hips and he looked over to where Daina and Prue were standing.
Both sisters shook their heads as they mouthed the word 'No' to him.
"Leo, I didn't like high school. Not even a little bit. I was nobody in high school." Piper told him.
"Piper, you were not a nobody." Prue protested as she walked over.
"Prue, you were class president! You have no idea what it's like on the other side." Piper said.
"Yeah, you're right. I'm sorry." Prue shrugged.
"You're really not helping." Daina shook her head as she stepped up beside the raven.
"I just-I had this stupid idea that I'd go back in 10 years and show them, and what I'm going to show them is that I'm a big haired freak!" Piper ranted.
"Alright, you do not look like a freak, you just..." Prue trailed off.
"You don't look like yourself." Daina spoke up and Prue looked to her in agreement.
"Well, if I could go as myself, I wouldn't be having this problem." Piper said in annoyance.
"Wait, so you mean this is like a costume party?" Leo asked as he followed after his girlfriend as she left the hallway.
Prue followed after and pushed the White Lighter gently to reprimand him while Daina groaned in disbelief as she set Kit down.
"What I mean is, I'm this super powerfull witch who's engaged to a White Lighter, saving the world from evil on a daily freaking basis and all these people are going to see is the same pitiful loser who still lives at home with her sisters and her unemployed boyfriend." Piper ranted as everyone took a seat in the living room.
Leo leaned back at the insult while Prue and Daina shrugged at him as they sat in the same chair together.
"Yeah, but you're also an awesome chef and you own the most badass night club in the city. And everyone is gonna know that when they get to P3 tonight." Daina grinned.
"Thanks." Piper sighed as she looked at the girl gratefully, but still looked frustraded.
"Did you put a lot of hair spray on that hair?" Prue asked.
"No." Piper answered.
"Well, then all is not lost. By the time I'm done with you, you are gonna be the hottest chick at the reunion." Prue said confidently.
"Really?" Piper asked with a bit skepticism.
"Mm-hmm. Who do you think helped Phoebe go blonde?" Prue asked.
"Hey, uh, speaking of Phoebe, maybe you guys should invite her to join ya? She's been kind of distant lately." Leo suggested.
"Leo, when you find out your boyfriend is a demon and then you have to vanquish him, a little alone time is in order." Piper said as she stood up to leave.
Daina remained silent at that since she felt like it was more than simply vanquishing Cole that was troubling Phoebe.
"Besides, I think she's kind of avoiding me. You know, I never really liked Cole, and then I tried to warn her. I think it's a whole wounded pride thing." Prue reasoned.
"What do we do?" Leo asked.
"We double team. You help Phoebe with her demons and I will help Piper with hers." Prue said.
"What do I do?" Daina asked as she watched the raven stand.
"You stand by and swoop in when we need you." Prue patted the top of her head.
"Lovely!" Daina rolled her eyes.
As her sister and future brother-in-law left, Daina used her powers to create a barrier around the remote and lifted it over to herself to turn on the TV to see what was playing.
While everyone was gone, Daina leaned back in her seat as she thought over the strange dream she had last night.
Why was she dreaming about a talking egg and how did it know her birth name?
And what did it mean when it said they were partners that were destined to be together?
It made no sense to her and she was also wondering if those strange plant like creatures she saw would be in the Book of Shadows.
"Alright, I've had it. I need to check this out." She declared as she stood up and rushed up the stairs.
Once she was in the attic, she made her way over to the Book and flipped it open as she searched the index.
"Okay, let's see. Where are the nature based creatures? Wood nymphs, fairies, elves... Nothing on those weird things from my dream. Okay, how about talking eggs?" She questioned.
Glancing down the index, she found a refference on golden geese eggs and dragon eggs, but she found nothing on taking eggs which frustraded her.
"Ugh, nothing!" Daina groaned as she snapped the Book shut.
"I wish someone could help me figure out what that weird dream was about!" She complained.
The Book then opened and the pages moved on their own, startling the girl as she stepped back and watched with wide eyes.
"Okay, thanks weird mystical force that moves the pages." She glanced around the room curiously.
Finding no one, the girl then stepped up to the Book and looked down at the page and was confused when she found the page she had started on the Golden Radiance.
"What? Wait, are you saying that dream with those strange creatures has to do with my power?" She asked expecting an anwser.
When there was no answer, the girl pouted.
"Hello? You could answer me at least!" Daina frowned up at the ceiling.
Sighing, the girl then stared down at the page and looked over the words she had already written down about her powers before deciding to give up and go check on her sisters.
"Whatever. I'll figure this out somehow and someway. Just watch me." She said as she then closed the Book and walked out of the room.
As the girl had her back to the Book, the mark of the Golden Radiance on the front cover then began to glow until Daina had left the room.
To be continued...
