Chapter 19

"Scorp, you've been off all night. What happened?" Albus asked that night after dinner when they were getting ready to go to bed.

Ricky was in the bathroom, so Scorpius figured it couldn't hurt to tell Albus.

"Ricky kinda… Uhm… Kissed me before dinner."

Albus's eyes widened. "For real?"

Scorpius nodded.

"And did you, you know, kiss back?"

Scorpius nodded again.

"Do you like him?"

"I don't know. I think I do, but I also like someone else. A lot. And I feel like I am betraying the other person, even though we aren't dating."

"I should act on your feelings towards Ricky, if I were you. I heard this saying once, by the Muggle actor Johnny Depp. He said: 'If you love two people at the same time, choose the second… Because if you really loved the first one, you wouldn't have fallen for the second.'"

"That's deep…" That was a thing: he kinda really loved Albus. Why did everything have to be so difficult all the time?!

At that moment, Ricky came back in.

"You talking about me?" he laughed, when he saw Albus and Scorpius looking at him.

"Nah mate," Albus laughed with him. "I'm so tired. I'm going to sleep. Goodnight." He laid down.

Scorpius, the pervert he is, didn't hesitate to lay down next to him. He smiled, he liked laying next to Albus made him feel safe.

When he heard the breathing of the boy next to him steady, Albus turned around and looked at his sleeping face. It looked so peaceful. He only looked peaceful when he slept. At school, he always looked nervous and scared. It was sad to see. Sad to see how troubled this boy was. This boy, who really was like an angel.

Albus started to think. Why did he feel so hurt when Scorpius told him he liked someone. Was it because that person was Ricky and not him?

Believe it or not, Albus had been questioning his sexuality for some time now. Ever since he met Scorpius, he got this weird feeling whenever he was next to him. It wasn't just that. During Quidditch practice, he kept catching himself checking out his teammates bodies (with the exception of Damon's, of course). However, he also checked out girls all the time with Ricky. He was so confused.

He looked back at Scorpius, wondering who else Scorpius liked. He really wanted to know, but from the time they had been friends, he had learned that Scorpius always told Albus everything. If he didn't tell Albus, he always had a good reason not to, and he wouldn't tell Albus, no matter how hard he pushed. So he kept quiet. He still wanted to know. And should they ever get together, Albus needed to make sure he treated Scorpius nice.

He needed to protect Scorpius. He deserved it.

Albus laid on his stomach and put his arm around Scorpius's waist, like he was protecting him, and slowly drifted off to sleep.

Scorpius woke up next morning and noticed how Albus had draped his arm around him.

He didn't mind, though. He liked it. He relaxed and enjoyed the way Albus held him.

Five minutes later, though, Albus woke up, much to Scorpius's dismay.

"G'morning," Albus said in a raspy morning voice. Merlin, how he loved that voice.

"Good morning, Al, rise and shine," Scorpius smiled at him.

"I don't wanna…" he groaned.

Scorpius laughed. "Don't you wanna see your family?"

"Of course I do, but you haven't seen them. The Burrow is hectic around this time of the year."

"I can't wait."

They had a quick breakfast with the Potters, and then the three of them went up to get ready. When Albus was in the bathroom, Ricky walked up to Scorpius from behind and wrapped his arms around his waist. Scorpius tensed up at first, but then relaxed. Ricky rested his head on Scorpius's neck. He sighed.

"We have to talk, Scorpius."

"I know."

"I really like you, you know."

"I know. I kinda like you, too."

"So where does that leave us?"

"I don't know. Let's just go with it."

"With what?"

"This."

Scorpius turned around and slowly pressed his lips against Ricky's. It was the second time he had kissed someone in his life. What's more, all of this was done on instinct.

"Hey guys, the bath- Oh, am I interrupting something?"

Scorpius pulled away and looked at Albus, who was, to Scorpius's surprise, redder than Scorpius himself.

"I-I… Uhm… Gotta go," Albus stammered, before scurrying out of the room.

"I call the bathroom!" Scorpius said, using it as an excuse to get rid of the awkward tension in the room.

"I can join you," Ricky smirked.

Scorpius blushed. "Too soon."

Later that day, the whole family was at the Burrow. Scorpius had met Albus's other cousins, some of which he had seen at school before, and some who hadn't seen before. Teddy and Andromeda were there again, too.

When Albus said it would be hectic, Scorpius never imagined it to be this hectic.

There were very many people and a lot of different conversations all running through each other.

The kids were outside, right now, playing Quidditch. Rose and Scorpius were on the ground watching the game with Lily.

"So, Scorpius, how are you and Albus?" Lily smirked.

Scorpius blushed. "What d'you mean?"

"I know you like him."

"I do not!" Scorpius said defensively.

"Scorpius, sweetie, it's obvious."

"Really?"

"No, I just had a hunch, but you confirmed it." Lily smiled triumphantly.

"Don't tell anyone."

"I won't. But it's so cute!" Lily squealed.

"It's not. He doesn't even like me back. He's straight."

"I wouldn't say that too loud, Scorpius," Rose said.

"What do you mean?"

"I get the feeling Albus isn't as straight as he used to be. I don't know. Maybe I can talk to him."

"That would be helpful," Scorpius smiled.

Later that evening, Rose went up to Albus. "Can I talk to you for a minute?"

"Uhm… Sure, what about?"

"Just come with me for a second."

Rose looked at Scorpius, who smiled weakly.

They went into one of the bedrooms and sat down on a bed.

Rose had no idea how to start this conversation, but luckily, Albus spoke first.

"Rose… I think I'm gay…"
