Joey was sitting alone at the inn's restaurant. Everywhere around him, as usually, people were talking and eating or drinking. He was also eating some beans and he was also tapping his fingers on the table… Then he saw Yami coming among all those people. He sighed towards the sky in frustration and said to Yami when he came closer:

"It was about time Yami! I was waiting for hours here!"

Yami didn't answer and took a sit opposite him. Joey raised a brow, as something wasn't supposed to be there. He couldn't catch the smell of alcohol…

"Are ya…sober?!" he questioned as if that was the most incredible thing in the world

Yami again didn't answer and raised his arm in a signal to the innkeeper to bring him beer. Joey sighed and rolled his eyes.

"Not for long I suppose…" he commented finishing his previous sentence

Yami didn't speak again and as his beer was in front of him he took a good sip from it. Joey looked at him.

"Everything alright?"

Yami didn't answer for a little and then took another sip from his black beer before speaking

"Dreams" was the only answer he gave

Joey looked at him

"Dreams? And I wasn't there last night!"

However then he added…

"…Strange I haven't heard your screaming from Mai's house… Alright I'll stop…"

He said the last one because he saw Yami's glare. Yami took another sip and said calmly

"Bakura came to my room last night"

Joey opened his eyes wide.

"Bakura?! What did he want?!"

Yami shrugged as if it was nothing important…

"Nothing really. He thought he would scare me or something…"

And he took another sip from his beer

"And he said that he would make me suffer…and then kill me…" he thought but he didn't show any emotion outside…

He had learnt not to… Joey looked at him and noticed that he had clenched his mug's handle

"Yami…Ya're not thinking what I think ya're thinking right…?"

"What else?" Yami narrowed his eyes

"You're really planning to kill him? But he is not…ya know…transformed yet…"

"I know…but I will kill him if he threatens innocent lives!"

Joey sighed.

"But first I will have to contact with Vatican, man. You can't simply start killing here and there without thinking!"

"Ts!" Yami hissed, "Do as you please…"

"Howeva…. keep a gun with silver bullets with ya…just in case…"

"Enough with me…how about that book? You spent the night at Mai's right? Did you have any progress on that or not?"

Joey sighed in frustration.

"Man!" he said, "Not at all! Every time I am about to break the code…something happens and everything turns upside down! I even sent a message to Vatican with some of the phrases in that book that I copied however…there is nothing there that can help us to break this code…"

"So practically we've got nothing!"

"Calm down man…I am doing the best I can!"

Yami sighed.

"You said you found the book in Mai's library right?"

"Yes. From her father's collection, that is… It appears that he was keeping this book safe or something… Apparently he was gathering information…"

Yami raised a brow

"On what?"

"On him…Seto Kaiba…" Joey said in a low voice, "He had some books about him but I believe that only the specific one has indeed something ta say, or else it wouldn't be written this way"

"And that was the reason Seto Kaiba wanted his mouth shut I suppose…" Yami commented cynically

"I dunno… However I believe that maybe…just maybe there is a book somewhere…"

"…That explains the code…"

"E-Exactly…"

Yami looked up and his eyes were dark like red glass

"And I guess that the only one that could possibly have that is…Seto Kaiba himself…" he said in a low whisper

Joey gulped.

"Maybe…"

Yami growled and stood up

"That's it! I am not waiting anymore!"

Joey had also jolted up from his chair the same time with Yami and held his arm with both hands

"Where are ya going?!"

"To him! To Seto Kaiba! To get over with it once and for all!"

"Come to your senses man! He's gonna kill ya! We must first think of our next move before-…"

"Every minute we lose he becomes stronger!" Yami says interrupting him, "And Kisara is getting in danger!"

"I know what ya mean man but ya need to calm down and think logically! You go there and you'll die! We need ta know our enemy! Not to mention that I will have to report to Vatican before we make our move! What good will it come if you get killed for no reason…?"

And then he bit his lip before adding…

"…Or if you become the monster you fear? The monster that will kill for revenge?"

That made Yami truly stop and freeze at his spot. He relaxed slowly and Joey realized he could let him go… Yami sat back to his chair heavily…

"Fine…" he said, "…Do as you please…"

Joey sighed in relief and went back to his seat.

"We will finish this Yami…" he told him trying to comfort him…

Yami didn't answer. He took out his absinthe flask and took a good swing from it…he then, before swallowing it, took a good swing from his beer as well…and then swallowed. The book wasn't translated, Seto Kaiba had Kisara, Bakura was constantly a threat and he was turning slowly and methodically to a demon…

His world seemed darker every single moment that passed by…

As the night fell again the moon was dancing and playing 'hide and seek' with the clouds again…and its silver light was making the stone walls of the castle look like made from moonstone instead… Kisara was in her bed…but she was sleeping really lightly… She barely could sleep… Last night…Seto Kaiba had tried to kiss her! Kiss her! Kiss her or bite her or maybe both of them… Kisara didn't know…she was too scared to think about it… She also remembered the night he had made her to wear one of Lady Sylvia's dresses… She shuddered at the thought. But it was not just the dress… It was also the mere nightgown she was wearing that specific moment! It was also the pair of slippers…it was also probably the covers of the bed…it was the cape that kept her warm when she walked outside, in the garden…even Seto Kaiba's attention and interest… Everything! Everything belonged to Lady Sylvia!

She was feeling as if her ghost would come any minute now…to breathe its cold breath on her and cut her lifespan once and for all… Those thoughts were making Kisara shiver constantly and non-stop and it wasn't the cold at fault… Then…suddenly in the serene of night…she heard…or she thought she heard something… A voice… Someone was singing… The female voice seemed to be traveling with air…like it had no echo…and at the same time it WAS echo… Kisara didn't know… She slowly rose from her bed and looked around… The song didn't stop… It was hauntingly beautiful…like coming from the Next World to her… She slowly, not even knowing why, she was doing that, she threw the blanket off her and stepped out of bed putting her slippers in the process. She then went to the corner of her bed and took her robe and put it on while walking out of the door… The hallway was dressed in moonlight… The cold light was making her feeling her legs weak…nevertheless she kept walking…or rather running soundlessly in the narrow always following the voice… Following? How was she supposed to follow a sound that had no direction? Nevertheless her legs appeared to be walking on their own and leaded her to a two-leaf door… She hesitated…

"Should I walk…or leave...?" she thought

However her small, white hands grabbed one of the handles and pulled the door…and she opened it…

As the heavy door opened a little, the song appeared to be louder

"The sound is in here!" she thought shaking.

She held the small cross around her neck and entered. It was a huge ballroom… Its curtains were torn and old… This room reminded her of the West Wing… It was totally abandoned in the merciless hands of time… The moonlight had painted everything in its hauntingly cold silver…making the room look like some picture coming from a ghost story… Around the walls there were small spider-webs and the moonlight was giving them its light…making them look like strings of pure silver… Dust was dancing like the fairy dust from some lost, dark elf or fairy…but no one was there…just her…the moonlight…and the voice… And then…the song became louder. She turned her head shaking uncontrollably…and then she saw…a female figure standing at the balcony that was supposed to be for the singer and the orchestra… And her voice was clear as a bell… Kisara felt cold sweat running through her… The woman figure was now clearly visible and dressed in moonlight… But Kisara knew…she knew that she wasn't there before! She had appeared out of no where…as if she was a shadow… The woman was wearing a dress…like those excessive ones that were inside Lady Sylvia's wardrobe…and she was wearing a lot of golden jewelry. She was wearing a Venetian mask that was covering half of her face…

And then the sound of a cello and violins echoed…and as if all of the sudden…the orchestra appeared under her feet in her balcony…and suddenly the lights were on…and the room became full of people wearing similar clothes of the 15th century, all of them wearing Venetian masks on their faces… And the ballroom seemed to be new now! As if it was never eaten slowly from time…as if time had flowed backwards… Kisara was looking around in pure terror as she was now in the middle of some Renaissance mask-ball… She couldn't believe in her eyes! She was hearing only the clipping sounds of the shoes' heels and the crystal sound of that voice… That woman that was singing with so much passion…so much power… Her voice was being heard over the speaking or dancing of others… And then she saw him… The man dressed in a dark blue color…and his half face was also covered with a Venetia mask. She didn't need to guess who it was…

"Seto…Kaiba…" she stuttered

He seemed less pale than she knew, and he wasn't wearing black and red as she knew he always did. His clothes were in dark blue almost royal color and made of velvet. He was also wearing a matching cape and matching boots.

"So this…is what he looked like…alive…?" she thought with her heart almost reaching up her throat from fear!

However she couldn't help but think…how beautiful he looked…how less scary and fearful he was…but he was beautiful and strong and seemed really respectful… He was smirking in satisfaction and he had his arms crossed over his chest while he was watching the singer… Kisara was seriously trying to stop herself from screaming or touch anybody but everyone seemed to be ignoring her… It was as if she wasn't there…as if she didn't exist… The frightened albino covered her mouth with both hands. Right now that woman's heavenly voice was terrifying! It was the rage of the dead that had come to take her! Kisara tried to run, to run out of that room…but then she saw that she was surrounded from people…people that didn't know her existence… And the lady's voice rose in a macabre crescendo…as if her voice was guiding the blind dead to gather and hide poor Kisara's way… Kisara was lost…the notes of the song as powerful as they were made her stomach twist…her head spin… Suddenly everything around…even the light…took a different color…red…red like blood! The invited ones too…their clothes appeared to have stains now…they resembled bloodstains… Kisara's eyes were now full of terror…full of absolute fear…

"No!" she whispered shaking her head constantly, "No! No! No!"

She didn't want any of those get near her…she didn't want to die…she didn't want the dead to take her to the next world! She didn't want to die that way! And the singer was singing…in a powerful way…in a passionate way… Even her body was taking part in that… Her hands, no, her arms were moving suddenly and powerfully, as if she was some desperate widow crying over her dead husband… Her crystal voice was powerful…and it was burning Kisara's soul like fire…piercing her head like sharp knife and entering to her very being… Kisara felt now the sound has filled her head and now it was struggling to break her skull to escape… Her head was spinning…the world around her was spinning

"No!" she yelled, "No!"

She cupped her ears with her palms, desperate to block the sound…to block that voice… She was trying to run…but everything was constantly spinning around her! And then, as if the song was too loud, the masks cracked and broke to pieces…falling to the floor…to reveal…her acquaintances' faces! Every single one of them! Those who died…long ago in the hands of Seto Kaiba…or by the Plagues he had sent the other time… Kisara's eyes widened in terror and now the pupil of her eye was just a small spot lost in the blue of her eyes… She looked up at the macabre singer… The singer then, with a powerful move removed her own mask…to reveal the face of that wax doll that was lieing on the bed in the West Wing! Kisara was pallid as a ghost. Lady Sylvia! The dead woman was there to kill her! To take her!

"No!" she screamed again

The beautiful lady started to sing more passionately as if she was a woman that was seeing her world crumble into thousands of pieces… Kisara covered her ears with her hands and screamed once again! The sounds…the environment…everything… And then, at the finale of the song, her heart couldn't handle it anymore… She screamed and her eyes grew heavy…and her world turned dark…and Kisara fainted…

However the cold floor's kiss never came… The room was back to his haunted state…no one was in there…only the moonlight was painting the room in the usual silver color… The walls, still full of spider-webs that were shining like silver strings in the moonlight and the dust dancing like fairy-dust…the almost destroyed curtains and the haunted beauty… And Kisara was there…in Seto Kaiba's arms… He had caught her a little before she fell…and now he was hovering over her…like a crow…like a black spider that was hovering over the fly… His black and red cape, from the way it was flowing on his shoulders and Kisara, looked like a cocoon that had covered Kisara… Kisara's eyes were closed…and her face was pallid like dead… Seto Kaiba was pallid too, like always…and moonlight was giving his skin a white glow… His eyes were glowing red…darker than ever… He wasn't speaking…only standing there…looking to nowhere… He closed his eyes for a little…

"You shouldn't have…" he whispered

His voice was dark as night…

"…You really shouldn't have been through that…"

He opened his glowing red eyes again… They were glowing like two coals in the moonlight…coals in the darkness… He remained silent…and outside the moon was showering both of them with its silver light…

The Devil…and the Angel…
