Chapter 13 – Secrets remain secrets

As soon as Sherlock had left the flat, Molly had tried to find her gun. She really needed it. But he had hidden it quite well and Molly was getting a bit frustrated.

"That insufferable man!" She exclaimed while turning Sherlock's favorite chair upside-down in hope of finding her gun taped under it. But of course it wasn't there. She put the chair back and sank in to it. The scent of Sherlock surrounded her and made her want to scream out her frustration. If she did, she would wake John up, so she remained quiet.

She needed that gun. She couldn't leave Baker Street without it. She felt helpless without it. So maybe it was safer for her to stay at Baker Street? It would make her own investigation in to her past a bit difficult but it would be easier to ruin any success Sherlock may have on the case.

Molly almost jumped out of the chair when the door flung open and Sherlock stepped in. He did not look happy. It was a bit scary actually.

He didn't say a word. Molly observed how he put a thick file on the table and calmly took his coat of and threw it on the sofa. Still no word came out of him. She observed how he walked back and forth in front of her for at least 5 long minutes and still nothing. This was getting unnerving for Molly. He didn't even look at her.

Should she say something? Her eyes wandered to the file lying on the table. What was in it? If she knew Sherlock, she would find out soon enough. She felt like a suspect being interrogated although the interrogation hadn't even started yet.

And finally Sherlock picked up the file and gave it to her.

"What's this?" She asked, not sure if she wanted to know the answer.

"Seems like someone has been following you around for quite some time." Sherlock said.

Molly opened the file and found the photos inside. This confirmed what she already had figured out. Someone from her past was on to her. For the first time ever she felt like she was going to have a panic attack. She couldn't tell Sherlock anything. She had to remain ignorant of what was going on. A panic attack would actually suite Molly Hooper that everybody knew. Someone was obviously out to harm her and she should be scared. She was scared. But not because someone was trying to kill her, but because someone was trying to expose her.

Sherlock watched as Molly's face turned pale while looking through the photographs. He had left out one rather big detail in that file that he had hidden in a safe place under the stairs. There had been an entire file on Molly Hooper in there. He hadn't had time to read through it and he wasn't sure he wanted to. Someone was out to get Molly for some reason and his job was to find out who that was and protect her from them. Molly was his case now and he was not going to let her out of his sight. In his opinion the file on Molly could wait until this was over. There was probably nothing important in there anyway.

Sherlock found himself questioning his own actions. An impartial Sherlock would jump on that file first thing. Then why wasn't he? Out of sentiment? It shouldn't matter to him. She didn't matter, even if he had told her that she did. Would he do the same thing if it was John? Probably. Definitely. He knew Molly was hiding something. He could find the answers in that file. Did he want her to get a chance to tell him by herself? Or did he just not want the answers, afraid of what they might be?

"Is there something you want to tell me?" He asked her, to break the silence in the room.

"I don't know why anyone would want to do this." She answered. She was lying.

Sherlock wanted to scream at her. But he didn't. Instead he gave her a cold indifferent look and took the file off her hands.

"We are going to find out, Molly Hooper. And in the meanwhile you're staying here with us on Baker Street." He said.

Molly didn't like the way he looked at her. She swore she could see disappointment and anger in his look. It made her feel like she was drowning in a lake covered with ice.

So obviously Sherlock decided not to confront Molly and force her to tell him everything. Why? I have no idea yet. But you will find out as soon as I figure the rest out.
