Lilycove City Pokemon Center, Hoenn:

Solidad's POV

Oh Drew, what happened? I asked myself as I watched May sit beside him. It had been two days since he fainted, but luckily that's all that happened. Nurse Joy said he should wake up in a few days, but this was training on my patience. I was a patient person, but it's just been too long. Why won't he wake up? I sighed before getting up and walking out of the room, shutting the door behind me. This had become a bit of a routine over these past few days. May would stay by his side, no matter what, while I got up and walked around for a while, sometimes going out into the city. At least Harley wasn't here, otherwise it might be bad for May... Wait, did I just see-? No, it couldn't be!

"Oh, there you are Solidad!" It was...

"Hi Harley." I said. I tried to keep my voice normal and not exasperated, but I think he might have heard. He raised his eyebrow slightly before saying: "Hun, I know you're hiding something. I know you better than anyone else, so I can tell. What's bothering you?"

"It's just- Well, I guess I'll have to tell you the whole story." I then told him everything that had happened after I met up with Drew and May again. He nodded afterwords with a sad look.

"Have you let it out yet?" he then asked. I was taken by surprise with this.

"What?"

"What I mean is, have you let out what you've felt? Seeing Drew in this state can't be good for you or May."

"...No, I haven't. May hasn't done anything at all except stay by his side since he fainted. I don't think she wants to let it out yet. But, I haven't either. He's only a kid, but then this happens..." Harley then put a hand on my shoulder, making me look him in the eyes.

"Solidad, he isn't a kid anymore. Ever since you both got to know each other, he's acted like a little brother to you, trying to protect you. It's the same way, but in reverse with you. You act like the older sister trying to protect him. Here, let's go somewhere else where we can talk more about this without other people eavesdropping." He then grabbed my hand, gently but firmly, and led me away. What he said was... right. I tried to protect Drew like a sister while he tried to protect me like a brother. Harley's talks before, about us being a big family, was, sort-of, right. But, why was he leading me away? Why couldn't we talk about this in the Center? Unless... he wanted me to let it out. My emotions from the past two days and everything that happened... He was doing this for me. Me. Soon, he had led me to a quiet place in the park and let go of my hand. He then turned to face me.

"No-one's around to hear you. You can do it now, if you want." he told me kindly. Harley is hardly ever kind, but when he is... it makes me smile. But this time, I let everything go and hugged him, letting my tears stain his Cacturne-themed jacket. Because of what he had done for me, I don't think he would mind, but I was still sad and letting it loose. I felt like I was crying for hours while he comforted me, saying things like: "It's alright." "He'll be okay." and "Everything's going to be fine."

May's POV

Drew... I thought, rubbing the back of his hand with my thumb. I wanted him to wake up so badly, but I knew I had to wait. I think Solidad left a while ago, but I really don't know. All I want to happen now is for Drew to wake up, probably tease me, then try to get on with whatever he usually does.

"Please wake up. You've been out for so long." I whispered. I heard the door click open and I said: "Hi, Solidad."

"Hey May. Harley's here with me and don't worry. I'll make sure he doesn't say anything bad." She snickered at the last part. I heard an indignant half-shout of "Hey!" before I giggled too.

"If he does, it'll be a first." I answered.

"I'll say. For one thing, he doesn't know when to stop." someone said. I turned my head in surprise to see Drew awake, smirking and having his cheeks a light shade of pink.

"Drew! You're awake!" I said happily, wrapping him in a hug. I blushed a little, but was just happy he was okay. After a minute or so, I heard Harley cough and snicker, saying: "When are you two lovebirds going to stop hugging?" I then heard him make an 'oof!' sound, probably from Solidad digging her elbow into him to make him stop. I instantly let go, blushing a little more and saw Drew's very red face.

"Um, could I have my hand back now?" he asked uncertain. I noticed I was still holding his hand, so I let it go in embarrassment and blushed even more.

"S-sorry. I'm just happy you're awake again." I stammered slightly. I saw the red go away a bit before he continued.

"Thanks." he said, unconsciously touching the back of his hand where I had rubbed it, "Um, how long was I out? And how long were you sitting beside me, May?"

"For your first question, two days." Solidad told him sadly. I saw him flinch a little before I caught the last part of his sentence. How did he know I've been sitting beside him for a while? He was asleep the whole time!

"Why are you thinking I was beside you for a while? I haven't been here long." I lied. I heard Harley snicker some more before Solidad silenced him again.

"I can tell. You don't look like you've moved for days and you also look like you haven't slept well either."

"I have too! Watch." I got up to show him, but since I haven't moved for a day or so, my legs instantly buckled underneath me and I fell forward onto Drew's bed.

"Oof!" I said as I landed. "Oops."

"Lying again, May? Tsk tsk. I thought you'd not act like a kid anymore." he told me, smirking some more and the blush almost gone.

"Well, sorry for me being scared for your safety! I was afraid you weren't going to wake up!" I yelled at him in anger. I noticed what I had said and blushed, trying to cover it up by ducking my head and hiding behind my hair.

"Well, looks like May-sy was scared for Drew-sy while he was asleep!" Harley snickered before getting silenced again.

"Harley, stop teasing them. They're both embarrassed enough as it is. Besides, I think May made him blush and then faint again by accident." I did? Oops, again.

Later, he woke up again and said he didn't know what I was talking about when I asked him if he remembered what I said. I just think he's being stubborn and doesn't want to remember. Well, he'll say something soon enough, I know it! Everyone slips up sometime or another and that includes him!

Two days later, he's gotten better but is still teasing me on things. Ugh, stupid Grasshead! At least he's better, though. Tomorrow's the contest, but he said he won't be competing because he still needs to rest. At least he's trying to take care of himself.

Before the contest, I went by to see him one more time to see if he remembered at all or was still lying. When I got there, I saw that the door was slightly ajar. That meant that someone had gone into the room. I know I had seen Harley and Solidad at the contest before I left and I had seen Nurse Joy in the front lobby, which meant someone else was in there. I decided to eavesdrop and hear what was going on.

"Are you really telling the truth?" I heard Drew growl as I came closer. I was slightly surprised. Drew almost never got angry, but he seemed to be angry at whoever was in there.

"I had to leave. If I had stayed, you would have been in much more danger. I'm truly sorry, I really am. If you want to know the full story, come to Pallet Town, Kanto. I'll explain everything then, Drew." a woman's voice drifted out of the crack. Whoever it was seemed to know Drew, maybe even longer than Solidad. And what did she mean that she had no choice but to leave? Hmm... I think I might have to cancel going to the contest. This seems serious, and I want to make sure that Drew was going to be okay. Which meant that I was going to have to get to Kanto and follow Drew, if he did go to Kanto. And what was the full story the girl was talking about? Just then, the door swung open and the woman from the newspaper stepped out. I was shocked, but she didn't seem to be. She just looked at me for a few seconds before walking right past me. I looked after her, but she didn't notice. She kept on walking, so I turned back to the open door. I peeked through and saw Drew turned towards the wall, not noticing me. Even from this distance, I could feel anger coming off him in waves. He must have been really mad. I was about to back out when he spoke up.

"Go away." he growled out, glancing behind himself and towards me. I flinched at the fury in his voice and the daggers in his eyes, but then they softened when he saw me.

"May? Sorry, I was just-" he said, turning back to lay on his back, his head facing me. I cut him off by shaking my head.

"No, it's alright. You were angry at that woman for some reason and I just came in." His eyes narrowed in suspicion and anger.

"Were you spying on me?" I looked away sheepishly.

"Sort of. I only caught the last two sentences and I wasn't looking into the room at all." I said, tapping my two pointer fingers together in embarrassment. He closed his eyes and sighed.

"What am I going to do with you, Maple?" he said, exasperated, like I was just a child who had gotten into trouble. I huffed in annoyance.

"Are you going to Kanto, then?" I asked. He glanced away angrily.

"I want answers, May. I only fainted when I saw her picture, and I recognized her. I would recognize her anywhere." He then looked me straight in the eyes and said something that I never expected him to say.

"That was my mother, Mewlin." My eyes widened at the revelation.

"Drew... I didn't... I had no idea..." I said. He looked away, anger returning to his eyes.

"Of course you wouldn't. She left me and my father when I was young. She never came back and my father died after I had become a trainer. I haven't seen her since and I never wanted to." That last sentence cut me. He didn't want to see his mother ever again? I could understand because of the story behind it, but he still should have given her a chance.

"Drew...Give her a chance at least." I said. He looked at me with a cold, steely stare.

"She left me, May. Abandoned her son and husband. She doesn't deserve forgiveness. All I want are answers and I'm going to get them, one way or another." he said in a tone I had never heard him use before. A tone filled with hatred and no mercy. This side of Drew... It was scaring me. I wish I had never eavesdropped on him in the first place. I swiftly turned and rushed out the door, heading back to the contest.

Solidad's POV

I couldn't believe my ears. Neither could Harley, based on the expression on his face. We had seen May leave the contest, probably to check up on Drew. We followed, saw the Champion exit Drew's room, and eavesdropped once May had gone inside. When she left, she didn't even notice us. I wouldn't have blamed her, either.

Oh Drew... I thought sadly, Why didn't you tell us? Tell me?

Sorry I haven't updated this story in a while. I was trying to figure out what was going to come next. Anyway, read and review, please!
