Kisara walked a little hesitatingly towards the marvelously, enormous instrument. She had seen one of course, in the town's small church but not even in her wildest dreams she hadn't seen such big organ. She went closer to touch the keys and one of the grand poles… It was indeed a magnificent sight…a magnificent instrument.
She approached it carefully as if she was afraid to disturb even a single dust on it. She touched the keys softly, without adding pressure to them so no sound was produced. Then she touched one of the bronze pipes. She caressed them softly, as if she was afraid she would wake up a sleeping giant. Something in that magnificent organ made her feel tiny and insignificant. She was busy admiring her and she didn't see anything else around her when a soft "whoosh" sound of clothing material drew her attention.
She snapped her head around to see, Seto Kaiba observing her with his sharp, icy-cold eyes.
"I never expected to see you here" he said calmly
Kisara felt her heart beating faster.
"I…I am sorry. I shouldn't be here. I am sorry…"
"No, it is alright. I have told you, you can go wherever you want inside my castle. This room is no exception…"
Kisara felt slightly…relieved to hear that. She had grown awfully familiar with the vampire's presence. She now didn't know whether she feared him, felt sorry for him, admired him or all together. She sure still feared him and she knew that he could kill her any moment he wanted. However, that look in his eyes…his presence itself…
She came back to reality and looked at the organ again.
"This is…the organ you have been playing…?"
Seto Kaiba nodded.
"Indeed"
"And you…play all these?" Kisara asked again pointing at all the diverse instruments around
"Not exactly. I play the organ since I was five years old. My father insisted to that, and also I learnt some violin at the age of ten and lute. Nevertheless I cannot play any other instrument, and no instrument like the organ."
Kisara looked away and a slight pink color painted her cheeks.
"So this is the organ…you've been playing…all these years right…?"
"Indeed…"
The vampire's lips twisted slightly upwards in a small smile…or better…smirk. The illusion of a satisfied smirk.
"Do you want me to play you something?"
Kisara simply blushed and nodded. Seto Kaiba approached the organ and flicked his cape off the seat so he could sit on it. His long, delicate and white fingers landed on the keys without actually looking where he put them. It was like he knew exactly where to put his hands. And he started to play a heavy requiem. The majestic, yet kind of scary notes emerged out of the enormous pipes and filled the room from its floor to its ceiling. Kisara felt an invisible, metal hand clenching her heart in fear and respect… Seto Kaiba had his eyes closed as his fingers were moving as though they had their own will, on the keys of the organ. Kisara looked upwards at the majestic pipes of the organ…now feeling like a small aunt in front of that music…in front of that organ…in front of that man…
She opened her arms upwards as if she was praying…as if she was begging…as if her soul was leaving her body… And her eyes filled with tears as her heart was beating loudly and fast…. And the notes spread in the serene of night…
The song Seto Kaiba was playing finished after a little while and Seto Kaiba removed his fingers from the keys and looked at Kisara, who immediately went to wipe her eyes with her white fingers and hands.
"What do you think…?"
His voice sent shivers down her spine. She was afraid of him…as much as she feared Devil himself. However now…she was feeling such respect…and perhaps…feeling his loneliness deep inside…
"It was…" she swallowed her sobs, "…amazing…but please…please play something more…happy… This song is clenching my heart… It talks only for death… Please play something else…please…"
Seto Kaiba remained silent for a little, observing her. Then he turned around to the organ again and his fingers made themselves upon the keys.
"It has been a long time since the last time I played something more happy" he said softly
Kisara was still trying to calm her heart and looked up at him. Her blue eyes were liquid with tears.
"Sing for me…" Seto Kaiba said in a low voice, coming deep from his throat
Kisara was taken aback. She had never sung in front of anyone…especially a man. But his alluring aura…his eyes…his voice… She found herself nodding, as if her head and neck were no longer hers. As if her heart was now beating at the rhythm HE had chosen.
And Seto Kaiba played again… And this time it was a faster and more…happy song, but again it hit a melancholy inside it… Like everything in that castle hid… Kisara felt her own throat being slave to that music and she started to sing, like she had never sung before…and there was he…playing the organ and now his eyes were looking straight into hers…not even bothering to look at the keys of the pipe organ… And then he sang as well…and his voice right then seemed able to control her. If he had commanded her to jump from the highest tower, she would have done it in seconds. But now he was encouraging her to sing…and she did… And she never knew she could sing like that… She felt as if a pair of white wings had started to come out of her back…as if she could fly away…free…free…
Somewhere else…in the inn, Yami was turning around in his bed. He was dreaming again…and his dreams for one more time were nightmares… Were memories full with blood and murder…and treason…
"My Caesar, I am talking serious… You must not allow this man in your court anymore…" a man was telling to Caesar.
He was dressed in silver…and the well-known badge was hanging from his belt. He was a man of the Silver Order…
"You are asking me to send to death the most precious General I ever had?!"
"He is a demon, my king. He kills people in every full moon"
"I rarely ever hear of victims lately…" Caesar says
"Then he is trying to get your trust. Listen to me, Caesar, one day that demon might attack you. Only the Order can defeat that creature! It is your chance now! Before the moon turns full again and he transforms! If you defeat him now, you save your empire! I am sure that there are many valuable people to rule and lead. But if you keep him…your life and reputation are in danger! Can't you see how much the soldiers love him because of his strength! He has bewitched them all! One day he will cause riots against you, and perhaps you won't be able to kill him! He can't be killed with usual means!"
The Caesar seemed thoughtful. That was true. He had started being afraid of his General. Aurelius Crispus Maximus had indeed started getting all the more powerful and he could sooner or later make use of that power to cause a riot against him! That was a good reason to get him out of the way. And to speak the truth, he was thinking of assassinating him himself, but now those men of that mysterious Silver Order said that they could get him out of the way soundlessly…
"Very well! You have my permission to…visit his chambers tonight!"
The silver-dressed man bowed deeply
"Thank you, imperator Caesar!"
It was night and the moon had almost gone up in the sky. General Aurelius Crispus Maximus, entered his chambers at night and removed his helmet to leave his tri-colored spiky hair free. He shook his head to lift the sweat that had shocked his head. He could feel pain all over his body and it was not the training at fault. Soon…it would be soon now he could transform. He hated that. He would prefer to call that little slave girl that used to…warm his bed when he needed to… To sleep with her all night… But this night he had to lock himself away from everyone. He knew that Caesar had already started to suspect him, if he hadn't known already, about his condition but he had no other choice. He took a goblet and filled it with red wine and then put inside the wine some fresh snow, brought straight from Alps. He was already drinking it, and he was ready to prepare himself for sleep but then the door of his chambers opened.
"I think I ordered no one disturb me!" he said turning around irritated
But irritation gave place to fear in his eyes, as he recognized the men standing at the door. Not the men…their symbol. The Silver Order! They had come for his head!
"Guards!" he roared, "Guards!"
No one came. It didn't take him many seconds to realize that he was alone. The Caesar had betrayed him. The head of Silver Order's men smirked.
"Started to panic, demon?" mocked him
The General mentally cursed himself for not having his sword on him. He saw one of the men of the Order to rush upon him and he was holding a knife, made of the fearful gold… The metal that had the power to kill him! He pushed the man on the chest hard, sending him flying and then rushed upon the place he had the sword. He grabbed its handle and pulled it out of its sheath.
"Get him! Kill him!" the in charge man yelled
And they fought. The clanging of the swords was echoing in the room… And suddenly the sword fell from the General's hand with a horrible clanging and he grabbed his head with both hands moaning and yelling in pain
"Now! Before he transforms! Now!"
However the members of the Order were frozen to their spot as the General of Rome had started to change along with horrific cries of pain and the creepy sound of bones creaking as they changed slowly and painfully…and soon the yelling became growling. Like a trapped lion…like an angry tiger… And the creature was now before them, fully transformed…and released a horrific roar in the night as the full moon's light fell upon him, the members of the Order the Christians did the sign of cross while the others whispered a silent prayer to the gods they believed in. They were seeing a person straight from hell! His dark, red eyes were glowing in the darkness like lit coals. They panicked. The creature attacked them…and soon there was blood splashed everywhere…guts to every direction and cut limbs… The creature roared… And then Caesar's soldiers came in roaring in anger. The demonic creature knew that no matter what power it had, it couldn't face them all together…or better…it didn't want to. It spread its grand wings waving them at its enemies to make them back down and then it flew in the night sky…
The morning found the ex-General with his clothes torn, panting, hiding in the forest of Roman Empire miles away from Rome. His body, his hands and arms mostly, were clotted in dried blood. After he took some raspy breaths, he started walking away…
He was on the run again…
Yami woke up with a gasp. He realized that he was shocked in sweat and even if the night was chilling cold, he was feeling as if there was a fire lit under his skin. Also he felt the scar on his shoulder blade burning as if someone had burnt him there once more the time he was sleeping. He was feeling his body heavy as if it was made out of iron. He panted a little and brought his hand up to cup his face and wiped the sweat away. He then laid there panting, hoping he would re-gain his breath and get some sleep. It was still night… Some organ music was traveling with the cold, night air… The night was serene and the sky was clear… He looked up and saw out of his bedroom the moon in the middle of the sky… There was the moon… Now it was about half circle in the sky…
"Full Moon…" Yami thought, "It is coming…soon…"
Seto Kaiba removed his hands off the keys and looked at Kisara, who was panting softly. It was as if she had given her soul…part of it at least, to finish that song. Seto Kaiba stood up and walked at her…
"Wonderful…" he whispered
Kisara didn't answer. She didn't know what to say anyway. She didn't know she had it in her… Her body felt limp…like she had died in meantime.
"You need rest…" Seto Kaiba's voice drew her back to reality, "You have been up long time…"
"Long?" she questioned surprised, "How long?"
She had lost track of time. Seto Kaiba smirked.
"You are up almost all night"
Kisara was speechless.
"All…night…"
She couldn't believe it…
"All night" Seto Kaiba repeated like echo
His pale hand cupped her cheek. It wasn't warm. It was cold like death. Kisara felt a shiver down her spine at that cold, yet soft touch. She looked up at him and her crystal-blue eyes met his icy cold ones.
"I don't understand…" she whispered, "What do you want from me…? If you don't want to kill me…if you don't want to feed off me… why…? Am I expecting you to…get angry or something and kill me…?"
"Kisara, I don't need to get angry to kill you. If I wanted you dead five minutes ago, you would have died five minutes ago"
Kisara felt herself shivering again at that not-so-happy thought and also at the calmness of his voice as he said those words.
"What I want from you is totally different" Seto Kaiba said again calmly, "I want this…"
He passed his fingers through a lock of her white hair.
"…And this…"
His hand caressed her cheek.
"…I want these…"
His thumb caressed her lips.
"…This…"
His hand cupped her neck and caressed it lower and reached her chest.
"…I want your body…your soul…your mind… You belong to me now, Kisara, and nothing can change that. But still I want more of you…"
"More?"
"Yes"
Something in his eyes had changed. She couldn't put her finger on it…but she didn't know why her heart was beating more loudly now…
"I want you to become my bride"
Kisara felt her heart stop right away. His bride? His? Bride to the darkest person, the Devil's child, that ever existed on Earth? His bride? The man that had killed his own wife and hardly felt any remorse for killing countless others, was now asking her to become his bride? She found herself unable to speak.
"I…I…"
However the vampire placed his finger under her chin, making her lift her head and then bent down landing his lips on hers. Kisara's eyes widened but then her eyelids felt heavier to keep them open… Her eyes closed slowly and sought for support by grabbing Seto Kaiba's shirt and started kissing him back… He pulled back and looked at her softly. Softly? How could a demon look at someone so coldly and yet softly?
"You do not need to answer right away. There is no rush. You have all the time you need…"
Kisara wasn't sure what that meant. Neither what it meant becoming the vampire's bride. However she gave a simple nod…
"Good" he said
His head then turned towards the door…
"Let's go. It will be morning soon. You need to rest, and I am going to sleep…"
He started walking up the stairs again and she followed but when they reached the hallway again (illuminated slowly by the gray light of dawn) she called.
"Wait!"
He stopped and looked at her. She joined her hands together and seemed to be hesitating to ask something…however then she said:
"Please…before you go…show me…your room… I mean…the room you had before…you died…"
He simply kept looking at her… The gray light was in perfect harmony with his cold eyes…
"…I just…want to…see that place…even for once… Please…"
For one moment he seemed terribly silent. The dark man seemed to be thinking whether to answer her or not…and if he answered, what to say, but then he said
"Follow me"
Seto Kaiba opened a door and both of them entered in a beautiful room, perfectly suited even for a prince. There was a canopy bed, with velvet above the bed as its "sky" and the bed's ends were beautiful wood engraved with anaglyphs of dragons (Kaiba House's Crest). The bed sheets were also velvet blankets and countless pillows for the lord to rest his head on. The wardrobe was also at the end of the room, engraved wood too, and there was also a portrait of Seto Kaiba at the end of the wall. Dark blue was the color that could be found everywhere. The bed's blankets, the velvet above the bed, the curtains… The floor was covered with Persian carpet and on another wall were two swords hanging as decoration (and not only for decorating purposes). The window had view away in the forest and the village far away.
"This was it…" Seto Kaiba said in a low voice, "This was the room I had in this castle as long as I was alive…"
Kisara looked around. The room looked indeed wonderful…
"It is beautiful…" she whispered and looked at him, "I don't understand… You have such a beautiful room…and still you choose to sleep into that horrible coffin, where you had found death, inside that dark, wet and scary death-crypt! Why…?"
Seto Kaiba looked at her and then his hand caressed one of the dark blue velvet curtains around the bed.
"This room is suited for someone who is alive. I lived that life. I lived in here, but I do not belong to this world, the World of the Living any longer…"
Kisara shook her head in a negative way softly, and then closed the heavy curtains to block the light that had started to approach him slowly. Seto Kaiba cocked up an eyebrow. Kisara simply placed her palms on his chest and then leaned her head against it. Her ear didn't catch that lively sound of beating heart, like she remembered. She didn't feel the soft moving of the heart beating. There was no life in that chest…Just cold stillness. Seto Kaiba didn't move at all at that sudden move of hers…
"I stayed up with you all night…" she whispered, "Now please…do not live me in daylight…just to go to that horrible place…please…"
Her voice was low and begging.
"Please…stay here…to sleep in this room…" she hesitated taking a small breath, "…with me…"
Even Seto Kaiba himself looked surprised. Kisara was almost holding her breath. Waiting for a cold answer…to send her off. But then, Seto Kaiba said in a low voice
"Okay…"
A soft smile appeared to Kisara's face… Seto Kaiba slowly laid on the bed…and by the power of habit, he placed his arms crossed over his chest, like he did in the coffin. Kisara climbed on the bed and laid her head on his chest. He was comfortable to lay on… Even if he was cold like ice…he was also…feeling right, in a way she couldn't explain… He closed his eyes and she closed her eyes… Soon devil and angel…vampire and human…man and woman had drifted to sleep… As the sun had started to rise behind the mountains…and the music of the night had started to fall silent…
Yay! I finally updated this! Thank goodness I start to get back to work!
First of all the title says it all but just in case you haven't noticed, the title comes from...The Phantom of the Opera! This is the song I imagined playing to Kisara when Kisara started to sing!
Also the song Seto Kaiba played in the begining must have been something like that watch?v=-t_27b3KWOU Not that song nesessarily but...well...you know! Something heavy and dark! Suited for organ!
The song I kinda imagined with Kisara and Seto also (in their soft intimate moments without Seto playing organ is this...

I dunno...I have been nostalgic to the tune! (Just love Davy Jones and Callipso!)
And also poor Yami having another nightmare! This was also the ending of his life in Rome!
When he wakes up, the moon is like this art… art/Frozen-Moon-in-the-Summer-460989854
