"I've been thinking…you know…about…your proposal…"
Seto Kaiba's lips drew back forming yet another smirk. But that smirk was somehow softer. It was as if it was a satisfied smile, powdered with sweet anticipation.
"And…?" he asked
Kisara raised her head and for the first time since the conversation started, her blue eyes locked with his icy-colored ones.
"And…I accept"
Kisara was in her room. She was sitting by the window, letting moonlight shower her like melted silver. The forest below her was also showered in the same moonlight, making the green leaves glow in a strange way, along with the snow that was powdered over their tops, glistering peacefully. The scenery could be even considered as the masterpiece of tranquility and harmony but Kisara could only hear the "Dies Irae" ringing in her ears, like the shadow of death that is lurking over a dying man's deathbed.
"What have I done?" she thought in despair
"I accept…"
"I accept…"
"I accept…"
Her own words were echoing in her head like the non-stop whispering of the wind through the leaves. She wasn't even sure what her acceptance meant for her. Perhaps no matter what she chose, she would still be a prisoner in that castle. After all she had made that choice as well. Seto Kaiba had given her many choices. Ever since she had first laid a foot into his castle, he gave her a good amount of choices, painful ones, yes, but they were choices nevertheless. No matter what, she had chosen to stay in his castle and she chose this life over death. However now she wasn't sure what she had agreed to. Seto Kaiba had made the proposal days ago and she could still remember every word of it but it wasn't clear to her. What was supposed to happen to her once she became his bride? Would he turn her into a vampire? Would he kill her? Was that a true marriage? Was that even a relationship at all? He was married once, and everyone knew what happened to his late wife.
Kisara felt a shiver at this, not-so-pleasant memory. She could still remember the small room at the West Wing in which the body made of wax was lieing upon the canopy bed, surrounded by the heavy, sweet but sickening smell of dying roses and old water. Would she end up like that one day? Would her dead body lie down in a macabre mausoleum like the one lady Sylvia was in? She was still lost in her thoughts when her ears caught the melancholic notes of a piano. The beautiful melody seemed lonely like the deserted hallways of this castle. She didn't need to guess who was playing the musical instrument. She left the spot she was sitting on and walked to the door. Once she pushed it with her hand and found herself at the hallway the notes seemed louder. She followed the song and found herself taking a path in which the windows were giving her a good view of the moonlit night outside. The silver moon was hanging, three-quarters-full and bright.
Her steps led her to a small room. It had a few armchairs around and a piano. Seto Kaiba was sitting there, with his back at her, playing. His long and thin fingers running over the keys soothingly, smoothly and calmly, completely drawn into the sad melody. Kisara could guess his eyes were closed as he played, showered in a small candle's light. The notes started slowly dying out till Seto Kaiba played the last cord and raised his hands from the keys. He opened his eyes and turned around. It was obvious he had sensed her presence from the very beginning but he hadn't interrupted his playing. Kisara felt grateful for this. He smiled at her, one of his smiles that could easily capture her on the spot, making her unable to leave his side.
"Kisara" he whispered, "How can I help you?"
She hesitated.
"Emm…I…I…"
She drew a deep breath and managed to put the words in order.
"Look…I…I know I agreed to this…but…I need to know…what does it mean…becoming your bride? Will you…turn me into a vampire as well…?"
He smiled.
"No" he replied after a moment's pause, "I won't turn you into a vampire. I cannot force you living by killing other people"
"Then…how…?"
"It is quite a simple ritual. I have to drink some of your blood but not at the point of draining you, only barely some sips. Your body should be able to survive this much of a drain. After that you'll have to dink some of mine"
This made her shiver once.
"But…if I'm not a vampire how…?"
"How you'll be able to drink it?"
She nodded.
"Don't be alarmed. When I mean drink some I do not mean drink sips. Even licking some from a small wound will do"
"Oh" she exclaimed in understanding.
Seto Kaiba leaned on his knees while sitting on the stool.
"Well?" he asked, "What would your answer be?"
Kisara held her hands joined together in front of her chest for a second. She then raised her gaze to meet his eyes with her own.
"Yes" she said, "I will become your bride…"
Kisara was feeling numb. She didn't even feel herself walking down the corridor and going back to her room. All she could remember was Seto Kaiba's words ringing in her head.
"Then go and get prepared… The night is perfect and the moon is shining…"
Normally she should get nervous, protest or at least her heart should have started beating faster at the sudden news. However Kisara felt as if falling to a state of absolute calmness, as if her mind was a crystal-clear lake that now fell completely silent, without a single wrinkle to its surface like it was suddenly covered with ice. Her moves were calm; her footsteps steady as she walked down the corridor alone, heading for her chamber. It was as if someone had given her the drug, Setoko had stuffed her with, the day she was firstly saved by Yami…
She opened her door mechanically and she found herself in her moonlit room. There was a pure-white dress ready for her on a coat stand. It seemed like glowing, like having its own light as the rays of the moon were falling directly onto it. It was a simple dress but still the same impressive, with long sleeves that would touch the floor if she left her arms fall to the sides. She assumed sheepishly that this should be Lady Sylvia's old wedding dress. Mechanically, like a puppet that had its arms and legs moved by the strings of a puppeteer she stripped herself from her clothes to start getting dressed slowly. Her gaze was fastened straight forward the whole time, like if she was hypnotized. The silk was slipping upon her body like water, fitting like a glove, but she barely felt it. Those weren't her own hands dressing her, someone else was putting this to her… The jewelry box was open too, revealing countless heavy necklaces and golden belts or made of platinum, glistering in pale moonlight from rubies, diamonds, sapphires and emeralds. However Kisara thought, in her dizzy mind, that she was not a princess and she shouldn't be dressed like one, but she also knew she should be pretty this night. Therefore she chose a simple silver belt and a small necklace with moonstones.
When she was dressed she walked down the corridor again. She knew where she was heading. The tail of her dress was being dragged after her as she walked like a layer of snow. Her footsteps led her down the staircase to the specific room; the room where the organ lay. Seto Kaiba was there. He looked serious at her, both hands behind his back.
"Have you decided?" he asked as if that was part of some wedding vows
Kisara caught a breath.
"Yes" she replied mechanically
"What your answer would be?"
Kisara looked up at him. The room was candlelit and the orange flames were making his eyes look like melting ice.
"Yes" she whispered, "I will become your bride…"
Seto Kaiba let out a triumphant cry as if she had given him the answer he expected for years, for centuries and he sharply turned around to the organ…and he started to play. For the first time his fingers moved so determinedly and so passionately on the keys. It was as if every move of his caused death and then re-creation. The music he was playing was not the usual requiems he used to play. It was a song with wild triumph and wild joy with a macabre tone. And suddenly he span around and started to sing, in a voice she had never heard before. Suddenly the room was filled with his voice.
"I say in the red red red,
dream's dream's dream's end
I cannot let you go…"
The instruments around had started to…play on their own, following the rhythm perfectly. The room was now echoing from a symphony of musical instruments.
"For countless times I give up my progress and kill off my emotions
With no place to go, my emotions are slowly awakening
I understand very well that your unsullied smile
Is an entity too cruelly distant from me…"
While singing, Seto Kaiba approached her and with a princely move offered her his hand to ask her to dance. As if his singing had some hypnotic influence on her, Kisara accepted his hand without really realizing it. And then it was when the real phantasmagoric feeling started. She was dancing with him, with his lead, in a way she had never expected before. Without even tripping to her long dress, she was spinning around almost like a ballerina, with Seto Kaiba dancing all around her, and leading her, leaning over her like the shadow of death itself. She was feeling her heart hammering against her ribs, ready to break in thousands of pieces in ecstasy.
Seto Kaiba let her go for a second and she didn't stop. It was as if she was indeed a puppet and some invisible puppeteer was moving around her strings. Perhaps that puppet master was Seto Kaiba himself. He took his cape off and let it go before turning at her with even more passion than before
"As I was walking in the abyss of loneliness, I was rescued
by a pair of real and never-changing eyes…"
Kisara leaned her body in his arms as if surrendering her soul to him and breathed out in some form of ravishment as Seto Kaiba passed his long fingers at the line of her cleavage and the valley between her breasts and then stood up again spinning around at his rhythm as he sang:
"However, the brighter the light is
the darker the shadow that is being born, when it creeps up on me
The two beating hearts are like a pair of mirrors facing each other
They are the same but different pains continue endlessly…"
He was singing about himself and her. She was the Light…he was the Shadow…the Darkness… And then in that dizziness of candlelight and warmth of the fire came the crescendo and the lyrics seemed like echoing within the deepest parts of her racing heart.
"Burning in scarlet crimson red
and purging everything everything everything
that unrivaled mirage is now in motion"
Suddenly Seto Kaiba placed his palm at the small of her back and she found herself arching her back, or better, leaving herself completely to him, like she was losing herself bit by bit to be replaced with him…only with him…
"Transcending firmly
one transient night after the other
I cannot escape even if I am drowned to my sins"
He hovered over her in the final crescendo like the hunting eagle ready to rush down to its next victim…
"…Without a doubt!"
And then, in the solo of the organ, he bit her. His fangs sank into her sensitive flesh of her neck. She barely took out a small whimper as he did so, but that whimper immediately turned into a moan, not of pain, but of pure bliss. An unexplainable pleasure filled her body from top to bottom. She was feeling the warm red blood flooding her neck and his mouth…she could hear his throat moving while her sweet blood was going down to it, rhythmically. She was feeling light-headed by the blood loss and inebriated by the atmosphere. She could feel her own warm blood running down her white neck.
In the fortissimo he left her, but she didn't feel a thing. She was spinning around to his rhythm, like drunk…like lost. She was like the lost spirit that was trying to find a way out of a league of demons that had surrounded it. Her head was spinning and her senses were swimming. Seto Kaiba brought his wrist to his mouth and bit down the flesh of his own hand, drawing out black blood from his veins. He extended his arm to her.
"I sway in the red red red
dream's dream's dream's end
The destiny of our encounter begins to turn"
Kisara knelt to the floor obediently and almost mechanically licked the blood from his wrist, before covering the wound with her lips and sucking with them on it. The metal taste of blood filled her mouth and almost made her wonder how was it possible for a creature that did not linger to the world of the living anymore to still have blood in his veins… When he thought it was enough, Seto Kaiba placed his index finger below her jaw while singing the final lyrics, slowly leading her to her feet once more:
"With this secret no one, no one, no one knows
I am falling falling falling
I can no longer return, even if I had to atone for my sins
Without a doubt…!"
In the last word he had raised his arm in the end and his voice had a wild triumph, It was as if he was celebrating a victory he had just won. Kisara's eyes were vacant, as her mind appeared to be floating above her head. She could feel her legs weak like water but she remained there… She didn't fall…
She could hardly feel her surroundings. She could hardly tell where she was heading. The only thing she knew was that Seto Kaiba was leading the way. Seto Kaiba…her husband now. She was his bride now. She could hardly comprehend with it yet alone bring herself to believe it or understand it. She wasn't even feeling like puppet anymore. More likely she was a doll. One of those porcelain dolls the rich girls had, those dolls they dragged along with them and the dolls had no choice but follow, or better they couldn't think of any other place to go but follow.
This was how Kisara was feeling right now. She was feeling fragile like porcelain doll that if someone let her white hand, she would fall to the floor, without personal will, and she would shatter in pieces. She was going where they were leading her. She could think of no other place…of no other way… She could hardly think at all.
Seto Kaiba opened a door and she found herself in a moonlit room, dressed in blue. Yes, she knew that room. She had been there before. She could recognize the canopy bed with the sky made of blue velvet, she could remember the carpets and the decorating swords on the walls. They were in Seto Kaiba's old room, the one he had when he was alive.
She felt Seto Kaiba slipping the dress from her shoulder a little and kissed the flesh revealed. It was a gentle touch but his lips were cold, like his entire body was. Seto Kaiba led her to the bed and laid her on it. Kisara felt the soft pillows under her head but her heart was like numb. It barely gave a few faster beats. Seto Kaiba's body hovered over her petite one and his eyes were glowing red in the darkness like a pair of lit coals. His thin fingers had started stripping her off her dress, one cloth at a time till she was completely exposed to him. Coldness passed over her body from the chilly night making her skin get goosy and her hairs stand up. Her nipples turned hard from the cold and started hurting her however she didn't even blush, not even under Seto Kaiba's piercing stare.
He buried his nose in her hair and inhaled deeply and her scent flooded his nostrils. He then moved lower to her neck where the two holes from his bite where along with the dried blood that ran across her white neck. His nose moved there and inhaled deeply once more. For one moment she thought he would bite her again, to finish the drain however the bite never came. Seto Kaiba kissed the spot once and then he let his tongue run lazily over the spot and over the dried blood as if he wanted to clean it up. Kisara realized. He didn't just desire her, he was devouring her, like a rare treat… His hand moved skillfully up her side to reach her small breasts that had barely started to grow. He took one of them in his hand and fondled her. Her back arched softly and slowly and her small hands clenched the bed sheet below in an attempt to stop herself from losing it completely. But she was his and she knew it… And he knew it too…
Seto Kaiba's mouth started exploring her body was well along with his hands; neck first, her arms and hands, her chest.
When he also got stripped off his clothes she knew she had never seen a man naked before. Not a man like that and not in a moment like that. Moonlight ran on his smooth skin that was even whiter than hers. It had no color of life, only the white color of death. He positioned himself between her small legs and prepared himself. Then it was when the sharp pain hit her. She was feeling like torn in half, like someone had stabbed her low with a knife. She whimpered slightly but he didn't stop. Her hands searched desperately for something to hold on to and she wrapped them around him, nails dug into his shoulders. He was so cold! She couldn't feel the sweet warmth of life onto his skin, she couldn't feel the living sound of an organ that was supposed to be beating in his chest. When he started to move back and forth the only thing she could do was breath in and out softly. For a moment she thought how was it possible for a creature that was the stillness of death itself to perform an act of creating life. She wondered if indeed he could create life still.
In her dizzy obedience she started moving with him to meet him thrust for thrust. Their pale bodies were entangled together in a single mass, illuminated only by moon's light. A thin layer of sweat had formed onto her making a few thin hairs of her head plaster onto her forehead, however Seto Kaiba's body didn't respond even to that. In the end nothing that had to do with living people concerned him any longer. His body was something outside from this world. It was a body of stillness that couldn't produce anything, only take… Kisara arched her back once more letting a whisper with no real meaning escape her lips. Seto Kaiba's lips claimed her tender neck once more with a few kisses and she could feel the roughness of his fangs touching her skin. Softness and roughness in a single move. Like Life and Death they were both of them.
One last thrust and everything died away. Kisara let out a small breath and fell upon the bed, collapsed tired from the immense emotions she experienced one after the other in so small amount of time and from the physical fatigue as well as the blood loss. She remained still, laying on her back on the bed panting, her small chest going up and down with no rhythm. She opened a pair of liquid eyes to look up and meet his own icy-blue eyes with them. He was looking down at her, resting on his elbow. Was it tenderness in his eyes? She didn't know. Everything seemed blur. Soon she fell asleep in a dreamless slumber…
Seto Kaiba didn't sleep. The night belonged to him. He remained there watching her sleeping. He pulled the covers over their bodies and remained there watching her. She was his now, his body and soul. She had accepted his blood and she had accepted his vows. She knew it too. Tenderly he brushed some hair away from her face with his fingers. Her rosy lips seemed slightly paler in the moonlight, paler than usual, but he knew this was because of the blood loss. He leaned down and placed his lips on the top of her head and then on her lips before pulling back. She was his now. He knew he had lost the ability to create life. It never bothered him but now he partly wished his own seed could get alive within her womb and create life one last time. He knew though…he knew this would never happen. He looked at her again and remembered the first wedding night he had once upon a time, so long ago. If only it was Kisara back then and not Lady Sylvia. Now in moonlight their faces looked alike, as if part of her spirit lived now within this fair lady sleeping next to him.
But the moon deceives. He knew the two ladies were nothing alike, not even the feeling of their hearts wasn't the same to him. Tenderly he cupped her cheek with his hand and leaned down, his lips rested on hers for a couple of moments before pulling back. She was so warm…so beautiful… The smile erased from his lips. With this it was decided and the clock had started the final countdown. Soon, he thought, very soon the destiny would be fulfilled. This night had decided it. With this…it was sealed… It was decided…
Finally the next chapter! This is a birthday gift for LadyGab (DA) Happy Birthday dear (and I am so sorry I was so late)
The title's meaning is "Two beating hearts and a crimson sin" and it is the title of Vampire Knight anime opening
Because of the organ in the begining I just couldn't resist to put this title into the chapter or fantasize Seto Kaiba singing this. I kept the original Japanese words though because I liked the mysterious aura they had and also because of space issues.
Lyrics of the song are all around the chapter.
Later on when Kisara is led to her wedding bed, I was imagining the ending theme of Vampire Knight named Still Doll
So here it is...now Kisara is Seto Kaiba's bride. I know the villagers had this in mind but...this time it wasn't their decision to make right? Seto Kaiba took her because he chose her and Kisara accepted at her own free will!
No, Seto Kaiba didn't put her under a spell but it was his aura that caused her all those feelings of numbness and submission and it was also a result of giving him her blood willingly and drinking some of his. Later on you will get your explanation.
And no, he hasn't turned her into a vampire like he said. She is still human.
The dress Kisara is wearing in this is indeed Lady Sylvia's old wedding dress and it looks like this: (can be found at my Deviantart account)
Well...I believe from all my fanfiction so far this is the ultimate Blueshipping moment, or at least the most intense I have written so far.
More will come. Please review me...
Enjoy!
