So this is one of the New chapters that was not there when I first wrote this story. The story seemed ot be going too fast before but now I'm filling it in. So in this chapter you get to meet a new character.

Everything with "EDITED" in the title is rewritten and everything with "NEW" in the title is completely new and was not there when I first wrote this story. I hope you enjoy.

I do not own Magi or the characters.

Chapter 4 New: Guardian Beast

"How are you adjusting?" Yunan's voice echoed through the darkness.

Eleanor frowned. "Is this my mind or your magic? If it's the former that I must be really dull."

Yunan appeared before her in a flash of light. He chuckled. "It's a little of both," he admitted, looking around. "I suppose the scenery can be changed; I have never tried though." Without hesitation, he waved his staff, suddenly causing the darkness to warp and spin, revealing the inside of a cabin. "Is that better?" he asked, though he was not paying attention to her anymore as he explored the cabin. "My, this is almost an exact replica of my little home in the rift."

"Wouldn't it look exact since you made it?"

"I was using your mind to fill in the details."

"Well that explains why it half looks like your cabin and half like my grandparents' house…" she said, taking a seat at the table where a pot of tea was already set out. "So to what do I owe this pleasure?"

Yunan grinned as she sat down too. "Am I not allowed to check up on you?"

"Hmm…" Eleanor leaned back in her chair. "Well considering you left so abruptly last time before I could ask any questions…"

"If you have questions, please feel free to ask," Yunan offered as he poured some tea into two cups and gave one to her.

Eleanor smiled. Finally, some answers. "Let's start with how I am somehow speaking Sindrian when I have never even heard of the language. How? And why did my supposed language skills keep switching to different languages like Heliohaptian?"

Yunan smiled kindly. "I'm sure you were very confused. I would be to blame for that, I'm afraid. When I first made came up with the spell, I added an additional translation spell so that whoever came would not have difficulty communicating. I have never used the spell before so I was not sure if it would be successful. The switch between languages may have been the spell settling on you," he explained. "Did you understand everything said?" At Eleanor's nod he gave a short sigh of relief. "At least that part was successful."

Eleanor frowned. "So what's the deal with this Guardian Beast thing you were talking about?"

Yunan imitated Eleanor's frown. "I'm not sure myself. I did not install such a thing into the spell as far as I recall." His eyes drifted to the earring. "It takes an interesting form." He suddenly stood and came to her side, his hand falling on the earring. Instantly, a blinding light filled the room causing Eleanor and Yunan to gasp.

When the light faded, Eleanor blinked a few times at the sight before her. A giant snake twice her side was between her and Yunan. Its head was held up and its mouth was open, showing its sharp pearly-whites. The golden-scaled python turned its head slightly to look at her from the side. Its green eyes flashed and the way it held its mouth open made it seem like it was grinning.

Yunan was backing away slowly from the serpent. "Please relax, I meant no harm," he said, holding his palms out to show the snake he was not dangerous. His eyes drifted back to Eleanor when the snake advanced slowly toward him. "Call back your Guardian."

Eleanor blinked. "H-how?" She looked to the snake. "Do not harm him…" she said, not sounding all that sure, however the beast did relax and slithe back to her side, laying its head on her lap. Eleanor froze, eyeing the snake in fear.

"Do not worry, your Guardian would never hurt you." Yunan said, shakily taking a seat again.

"W-what did you do?" she asked. "I-I've never seen it become real. I mean, I felt the earring move once, and it would pulse... but it was never... this," she added, motioning to the snake head in her lap.

Yunan nodded. "It is most likely far easier for it to materialize within your mindscape. It probably takes far more energy in the real world."

"Does he… have to be so big?" she was eyeing the snake nervously.

"If this form displeassses you, what would you prefer?" a deep baritone voice vibrated against her. She looked down at the snake with wide eyes.

"Ah, it appears your Guardian is a sentient being," Yunan commented. "Well, I must be going. It was nice speaking with you again Eleanor. Until we meet again."

Eleanor blinked up at her bedroom ceiling. "He ran away…" she said in surprise. "That little bastard ran away again.

With a sigh, she forced herself up and looked into her mirror, glaring at the snake earring. "This is all your fault. You scared him away."

There was another bright light and she felt something slither over the skin of her arm. "Does this form pleasssss you more?"

I would just like everyone to know that snakes are not slimy as some people sometimes think. Most amphibians are indeed slimy, but snakes are reptiles and do not possess the glands needed for making the "slime". This is because they do not need their skin to be moist like amphibians. Also, there are 3 types of fangs in different snakes. One type of snakes have fangs in the back of their mouth rather than the front, the other two have fangs in the front but one of them are foldable, so they can fold into the mouth when not being used, this is due to them being VERY big. And pythons? they have no fangs, just a lot of really sharp teeth.
