Drabble:99
POV:Third Person

"So, I did it.", Rose proclaimed, sinking into the seat next to Dimitri's in the guardian lounge. How she'd gotten through the security and the guards in the building was baffling. Celeste turned an ear to their conversation, extraordinarily curious about what Hathaway had done now. Besides, she was bored, had nothing else to do.
Dimitri looked up from the western he was perusing to arch an eyebrow at the younger dhampir before digging his fork into his salad.
"The deed!", Rose exclaimed. "I did the deed."
Dimitri's eyebrow arched again. The deed, thought Celeste. Surely she didn't mean…
"It was just as awkward and uncomfortable as I thought it would be.", Rose sighed dramatically.
"Uncomfortable?", Dimitri asked, pursing his lips.
"Very. Painful too. Draining.", Rose elaborated, shaking her head. Celeste's mind raced with the possibilities of what they could be discussing. She'd have to confess, in her mind 'the deed' was beginning to sound alarming. Uncomfortable. Painful. Yeah, definitely alarming.
"Hmm.", was Dimitri's reply.
"Can you at least pretend you're interested?", Rose quipped semi-seriously, producing a granola bar from her bag-pack. "But I'm glad I'm over that. Now I'll never have to wonder….you know.", she gestured evasively, munching thoughtfully on her treat.
"Yeah, I know.", Dimitri answered with a nod. By now, Celeste was pretty sure she knew what Hathaway was alluding to, but what she didn't get was why Dimitri-straitlaced-Belikov had been Hathaway's confidant in the matter.
"Oh, and I should probably thank you."
"What for?"
"You know, for helping me practice. For your guidance. I'd probably never have actually done it if not for you." What the hell, thought Celeste. What does she mean by 'help'?
"You would have. Eventually.", Dimitri's answer cut into Celeste's reverie.
"Yeah, well. I'm glad I did it now. As first-times go, it was quite…a learning experience."
"It always is.", Dimitri nodded sagely, reminiscing. As much as Celeste agreed that first-times were definite learning experiences, she was seething with anger, still trying to figure out what role Dimitri had played in Rose's first-time.
"You're a good teacher.", Rose complimented her mentor.
"I'm glad you think so.", Dimitri replied dryly, earning himself an eye-roll.
The duo sat in silence a while Rose finished off her granola-bar and Dimitri read his book. "Well, I'll probably go. Catch you later?", Rose announced, getting up and stretching.
"Yeah, see you.", Dimitri waved his fork in goodbye.
As soon as Rose disappeared, Celeste pounced. "What was that about?"
"Hmm?", Dimitri asked distractedly.

"Rose? What was that about?", she clarified.

"Just something she'd been thinking of doing for a long time.", Dimitri shrugged, but elaborated upon seeing Celeste's expression. "She decided to bury the hatchet with Mia and let bygones be bygones. Why are you so interested in it?"
"Oh nothing", Celeste backtracked sheepishly, kicking herself mentally for even considering what she had been. "It's just…."
She trailed off and got up, and Dimitri didn't try to pry her thoughts (instead refocused on his novel after a curt nod at her), for which she was eternally grateful. Because if he found what thoughts she'd been entertaining, he'd probably impale her the way she'd been envisioning doing to him, if her thoughts had been even slightly confirmed. First-time, huh?

Such simple words, such different implications. :p
So how many of your minds jumped straight into the gutter with this?
And can you believe it, we're just one drabble shy of the big 100! Holy Fudgecake!
And thank you little dhampire 13 for your reviews. Cheers!
