Drabble:100
POV:Third Person

After duty, Rose walked into the apartment with a smile. Given that circumstances were…right, she had a surprise for Dimitri. A big surprise!
Dimitri was already there, cooking up pasta in the kitchen, the radio blaring in the background. After shedding her jacket, Rose bestowed a hug and kiss on him before sitting down at the dining table. After bantering a bit, Dimitri started good-naturedly teasing Rose, trying to convince her to marry him.
This happened often. Dimitri wanted to marry her, and Rose wanted to marry too, but she wanted to wait…awhile. So he'd playfully try to convince her once-every-fortnight, and she'd tactfully evade it-courtesy of Dimitri's own Zen lessons. But tonight, tonight was different.

"Okay. Let's get married.", Rose replied nonchalantly, eyes fixed on the newspaper in her hand.
It took Dimitri 17 seconds (yeah, she counted) to understand what she'd said. "Wait", he stopped in the middle of reminding her how Janine disliked them living in sin (and Abe disapproved). He turned towards her, turning off the stove as he did. "Did you-did you just say okay?"
"Yeah.", Rose drawled casually.
"You wanna get married?", Dimitri clarified, shaking his head a little.

Rose nodded.
"I'm not hallucinating?", Dimitri asked skeptically.
"Nope.", Rose said, popping the 'p', still pretending to peruse the paper in her hand.
"This isn't your idea of a joke, is it Rose? Because I swear-"
"No joke. I mean it."
"You wanna marry me then? Like actually get married?", he asked incredulously.
"Yes, Dimitri.", Rose finally looked up, a bit annoyed now.
"Rings, penguin suits, fancy gowns, flowers-the whole deal?", Dimitri countered, still trying to wrap it around his head that after months and months of dodging the question, Rose had…she said yes!
"Sure. If that's what you want.", Rose's answer cut through his reverie.
"Roza, you can't just decide to marry to make me happy.", he smiled sadly.
"I'm not, trust me.", Rose answered, standing up and moving towards him. "What I meant was that I have no problem with eloping. Even getting married off by Christian would be fine. We just need to get that monkey officiated first. But if you want a wedding, I'm all for it. Between our jobs and raiding, we've probably saved up enough to afford a grand wedding.". By the end of her speech, she had wormed her way into his arms and buried her face in his chest.
Dimitri hugged her a moment before pulling back and looking into her eyes. "You're ready then?", he asked, eyes sparkling with barely-restrained-glee.
"Why else would I say okay?", Rose teased, grinning.
"Oh, Roza! You have no idea how happy it makes me!", Dimitri announced, picking her up and spinning her before showering her face with kisses.
"I think I do.", Rose chuckled, pushing against his bear-hug, which was suffocating her a bit. Dimitri immediately let go and with eyes shining, retreated towards their bedroom, saying. "I'm gonna call mama, but first….a little insurance."
Before Rose could ask what he meant, Dimitri was back, holding a wedding band in his hand.
"Really, Dimitri?", Rose snorted.
"Humor me.", he teased with his swoon-worthy handsome smile. As he made to drop down on a leg, Rose's hand came around his shoulders, restraining him.
"Don't kneel, Comrade. We're equals, aren't we?"
"But it's traditional. And I've been preparing myself for this.", he insisted, smiling boyishly.
"Why am I not surprised?". Rose rolled her eyes. "But guess what? I already beat you to the punch with proposing tonight, so you're gonna have to deal. Besides, I'm hungry."
Dimitri chuckled at her logic, but still smiling, slipped the band on her ring finger.
"Let's eat.", he pronounced, brushing kisses along her knuckles. "I'll get the pasta. You finish chopping the salad-greens."
"Sure thing. I'll go grab a shower first.", Rose smiled, blowing him a kiss.
10 minutes later, she reappeared, dressed in a shirt of his and her pajama-shorts.
"Did I hear my phone ring?", she asked conversationally, eyeing the bowl of salad Dimitri had prepared in her absence.
"Probably Lissa. She'll be over in an hour with her wedding-binder. Mia is bringing champagne. Alberta wants to know the date, and Janine is expecting a call later tonight.", Dimitri called from the kitchen.
"Wait-pause-you told my mom!", Rose screeched.
"And your dad. And Eddie. Mama. Karo. Mikhail. Yuri. Hans. Adrian. And a couple of my friends. Oh, and Sydney apparently is licensed so, we don't need to get Christian officiated, but if you want, he has no problem."
"How did you manage to call all of them in 10 minutes? ", Rose checked the hall-clock for reconfirming.
"Lissa helped.", Dimitri admitted sheepishly.
"Of course she did.", Rose scowled, ladling salad onto both their plates.
"So, let's talk venues. I was thinking…", Dimitri appeared then-still beaming-carrying the pot-of-pasta and Rose couldn't help but think, what have I gotten myself into?
