Mitchum answered the phone,
"Mitchum did you see her,? Did you speak to her?, I've spoken to our lawyer, if we can prove she is a bad mother we can get Logan full custody, what's going on?"
"Shira please, HER name is Rose, she is a healthy, happy 3 year old and from what I have seen Rory is a brilliant mother, I will call Leonard and tell him to drop this, Shira you can't be serious, you will leave them alone, I have known about Rose since her birth and I intentionally kept this from you as I was sure this was going to be your reaction, I will have a relationship with my Son and his Daughter and I only hope Logan sees that he needs Rory as she is good for him. I am fully aware of how devious you can be and this will not be an issue, if you decide to make life difficult for Rory I will not be happy, now that will be the end of it, I will see you when I get to the hotel, we will go home tomorrow morning, we wont need the house, we can have the party at home." with that he put the phone down and turned to his agitated son,
"Son I said I will deal with your mother and I will" he turned to leave, "and I meant what I said about Rory" Logan's stunned expression made Mitchum chuckle, he popped his head in the living room and said his goodbye's, climbing into the car he smiled to himself, his grand-daughter and hopefully his future daughter-in-law were going to be a very good addition to his family. Pulling up to the hotel Mitchum steeled himself for what was probably going to be a very heated argument between himself and his wife, giving the keys to the valet he made his way past the lobby and to his suite.
"Mitchum you can't be serious about this, I cannot believe that you are willing to allow this golddigger to sink her claws further into our son, this child will only make sure she has a hold on him for the rest of his life..."
"SHIRA" her ranting had caused his elevated voice level and he felt bad straight away seeing the look on her face, he softened and decided to try to appeal to her motherly instincts, there was a lot that could be said about Shira as a person but as a mother she had always tried to do her best to make sure they had everything they would ever need in life,
"Shira, please this is not something we can control, our son found a woman who he loved with all his heart, she was the only woman he had and has ever been serious about, they made a mistake and now they have a daughter, I believe they are getting close again, Rory is the only person that has ever been able to get Logan to be serious about anything." Mitchum pulled her towards him and with the softest coaxing voice he could muster he continued, "You need to see her Shira, she is beautiful, looks a lot like her mother and has Logan's eyes" Shira smiled as she remembered the little girl that she had seen at the house in the vineyard, pulling away from Mitchum she decided that maybe she had been wrong about how she was approaching this, smiling slightly she had an idea. Mitchum watched as Shira smiled and then began describing how horrid she had been to Rory and how maybe she had been too rash to judge the girl, how she was going to get Rory's forgiveness and Mitchum had an eerily familiar feeling that Shira was up to something.
Months passed and Rory and Logan had begun to allow Mitchum to take Rose out with him, they had done fun things as well as go to his office and she had even stayed a whole day at the Huntzberger mansion with Mitchum and Shira, she had returned with enough gifts to spoil an army but Logan had convinced Rory to leave it be and let Shira spoil Rose as it was going to be hard to get her to stop and at least she wasn't causing them any trouble.
Two weeks before Rose's 5th birthday everything was about to change.
