"What's wrong, Rose?", Lissa asked, seeing her best friend frowning.

"It's just that I don't know which day to count as our anniversary?", Rose sighed, gesturing between herself and Dimitri, who was talking with Christian in the kitchen.

"What do you mean?", asked Eddie, getting comfortable in the sofa beside Rose.
"I mean, do I count the first day we met, in Portland? Or when we realized we fell in love? Or-"
"You remember when you fell in love?", Mia interrupted incredulously.

"No, I can't pin it to a single date exactly. One moment I was looking at Tall, Dark and Handsome as my attractive, but out-of-limits mentor, and the next moment I was swooning over him.", Rose sighed melodramatically, causing her friends to chuckle.
"I see.", Lissa said gravely, trying to subdue her giggles.
"You know what I mean. Can you name the day you fell in love with Fire-apron?"

"Fire-what?", Lissa asked over Christian's indignant hey. "You know what, never mind. And to answer your question, I can actually. It was night Victor attacked us that I knew I was in love with him."
"Oh yeah, then there's that. That night would also come on the list, I guess, it was the first time we actually kinda got physical. Would that count?"

"Umm, Rose, that wasn't exactly love, was it?", Christian put in his two-cents.

"True. But man, can Dimitri kiss.", Rose sighed dreamily, gazing at Dimitri, who found himself-his lips actually-being simultaneously scrutinized by the three girls.
"Brother sitting right here, Rose.", Eddie sighed, interrupting Rose's fantasies.
"Huh? Oh, sorry Eddie. I didn't-"

"Moving on, please.", Eddie insisted hastily.

"Right, so that's off the list. Well, how about the day Dimitri admitted he couldn't be with anyone else because his heart belonged to me?"

"He said that? What did you say?", Mia eagerly inquired.

"That as we weren't guarding Liss yet, it shouldn't hold us back."

"And then?", Lissa asked this time.

"And then we kissed, and went back to our routine of pretending-we-don't-love-each-other."

"When did he outright admit he loves you?", Mia asked, fascinated.

"After I went all Rambo on Jesse.", Rose glowered at the memory.

"You didn't-", Dimitri started, only to have Rose interrupt him.

"I did, Comrade. And God knows what I'd have done, if you weren't there."

"Pease tell me that you told him you loved him at least this time, instead of throwing yourself at him.", Eddie asked, sarcastically.

"I did both.", Rose answered smugly, causing her girlfriends to laugh.

"You didn't tell me you loved me until after…you know.", Dimitri put in, unable to complete the sentence, which cause Rose's friends to frown in confusion and her to chuckle adoringly at him.

"What Dimitri is struggling to say is that I voiced my love after we had sex.", Rose explained.

"Of course", Christian muttered, snorting with derision.

"What was that Sparky?"

"Nothing, Rosie. I was just saying it's so cute!", Christian exclaimed in a super-saccharine voice.

"What is?", Rose asked suspiciously.

"That Belikov makes these romantic-movie comments and in turn you attack him every time."

"He's kinda right, you know.", Eddie concurred, and the two girls nodded. Rose glared at them before narrowing her eyes at Dimitri, who speedily diverted the attention-wisely not expressing his opinion. "The Academy attack night, then?"

"There was the entire Strigoi fiasco after that and we didn't exactly get together till a month back at the hotel. How about that day?", Rose countered.

"Or the day you moved in with me.", Dimitri added, smiling softly at Rose, which cause both Lissa and Mia to go 'aww'.

"What's the verdict?", Eddie asked, weirded-out by the mushy-looks between Rose and their ex-teacher.

"I don't know. It's complicated. Little help, maybe?", Rose appealed to the room.

All of them immediately blurted out different dates, and after a moment of silence, they burst into laughter. Somehow the dilemma was never solved and Dimitri and Rose-privately-celebrated each of their anniversaries each year.
