Kudos to Seul Veritable Amour for getting it right!
And this one's for you, NecholeEJ!

Previously from Drabble120-
…before I could voice my questions to Lissa, who was smiling (and golden-aura-ed beside me), I realized a couple more things-
Heraura was iridescent, blindingly gold, as if influenced by something more than love.
The darkness wasn't emanating from her aura, but
his.
What The Hell!?

Drabble:121
POV:Adrian

That last eye-opener was just about enough to turn off my aura vision, but what I saw before me (visually) was no less confusing, either. Dimitri's hair had turned salt-and-pepper-hued, not that it was much surprising, given that he had to deal with Rose 24/7 nowadays, but Rose's hair was distinctly auburn….

That's impossible, I thought. I saw her brown tresses just a few minutes back. This couldn't be, unless…

Yeah, wrong people.

The couple smiling at me and Lissa were distinctly not Dimitri and Rose, now that I was back to relying on my eyesight again. Honestly, that should have been the first thing I should have checked-the physical appearance of the couple-but I had only brushed over their height difference (similar to Rose and Dimitri) and deduced the rest via aura-vision, almost incurring a heart-attack in the process. Now that I could 'see' them, I saw that the man, tall and rugged, was a dhampir with sharp Nordic features, and the woman, willowy in build, was a moroi. But who were they?

"I'm Oksana", the woman spoke up. "And this is my mate, Mark." She had a pretty voice, very soothing. It was….wait! Mate? As in-

"Yep", the middle-aged man smiled wryly. "Mate, in every sense of the word."

"I didn't say that out loud", I blurted out, eyes widening in shock, looking between Mark and Oksana who were smiling knowingly at me, waiting for me to make some connection, to understand something. But what?

"Oh, I think you already know", Oksana added, with a dimpled smile.
"Are you-?", I hesitantly began.
"Yes?", Oksana indulged me, with a twinkle in her eye. I stared at her a few more seconds, trying to read her aura. It was streaked with the colours of amusement and happiness, but for the most part, it was gold, iridescently so. Love, obviously, but what else? I mean I knew of only one other thing that could colour an aura gold. Oh!
"You're a spirit-user", I declared firmly, not looking at Oksana, or Mark, but at Lissa.
"Surprise!", Lissa trilled, moving away from beside me to go forward and hug the duo.
I followed her lead to shake hands with the couple. "You're the one that helped Rose with the whole Avery thing, right?", I asked, as we settled down into chairs.
"And told her about the story of converting from strigoi, too", Lissa put in.
"And read minds too, apparently", I added fascinatedly, realizing how they'd answered my unspoken queries. "How?"
"It's the same principle as the rest of our abilities. I don't know. It's just something I've been able to do since I was 12. Lissa developed healing abilities around the same time too. Did you discover anything at that age?"
"I was 10 when I developed aura-vision. Freaked me out. But not more than dream-walking, obviously", I added, trying to downplay it. "But mind-reading, that's huge!"
"Not really", Oksana said modestly. "Your friend Avery could do it too, or some form of it. And, she could also project."
"It's a pity she abused her powers, she had potential.", Mark added, seamlessly carrying on the conversation.
"And you've been together since you bonded?", I asked them.
"More or less", Mark quipped enigmatically, making Oksana chuckle. "Sorry, private joke"
"What about the darkness?", I asked, noticing how very normal they seemed, no sign of any madness perceivable.
"What about it?"
And so we talked, flitting from topic to topic (super-abilities we'd heard of, Sonya's story, our abilities and how to refine them without self-harming, the intrinsic instinct to help, charmspeak, etc) till Rose came to summon us for dinner, calling an end to what she tagged 'Spirit-Summit-Session-1'.
As I sampled Olena's rice pilaf and chicken-roast, I mulled over what I'd thought were probable reasons for our visit (Rose's wedding, vodka-drink-off, setting me up with some Russian hottie, etc) and what had actually turned out to be my surprise. And I couldn't have been more pleasantly-surprised by our visit. (Damn you Oksana for choking on your chicken while I was going over the idiotic possibilities!)

Well, there's that. Lemme know what you think of it!
