Drabble:122

Dimitri loved Rose. He loved everything about her, from her spirit, to her mind, to her beauty. He loved that she was both reckless and fiercely protective, that she would do almost anything to fight for the causes she believed in, but at the same time, she had to be literally dragged out of bed every morning, kicking and screaming, to face the day.
He loved her dedication to being a guardian, her kindness towards the weak, her admiration for the worthy. He loved that she was straightforward and gutsy and temperamental and sarcastic. He even loved the devious, troublemaker side of his Roza, and the fact that she could seldom get a lie past him or keep a secret from him for long.
He loved fighting with her, both physically and verbally, and he especially loved making up with her. He loved just looking at her and hearing her speak and laugh and try to sing (she really couldn't, but she was hell-of-a-lot better than Lissa, thankfully. Poor Christian). He loved her generous heart, and the fact that she could forgive people so easily. He loved that she'd always be planning these little surprises for him (though edible food and westerns-he-hadn't-yet-read were hard-to-come-by), and anticipating his every need. Obviously, sometimes her selflessness infuriated him, but he was so in love with her that it didn't matter.
He loved how she'd snuggle with him and hold his hand and brush kisses against his jaws and whisper in his ear and he especially loved that he was the only one she'd do that (and more) to. Yeah, he was a regular possessive caveman, but what the hell, Roza loved his possessiveness, so it was great.
He loved kissing her injuries and bruises and brushing her hair, and dancing with her around their little kitchen to slow songs. He loved when some woman would look at him with interest and Rose would become jealous and kiss him firmly to prove to the world he was hers. He loved when she'd get loopy on pain meds (after training injuries) or on alcohol, and giggle and tell him funny jokes (though for the life of him, he still can't figure out why she'd likened him to a bone-marrow). And he loved that she couldn't remember anything-of-that when she recovered. He loved buying her things and watching her eyes light up with pleasure. She'd pepper his face with kisses and hug him tightly. He'd hug her right back, burying his face in her hair and whispering 'I love you'. He loved when she said she loved him, sure of him, of her, and of their relationship. He loved that she brought joy and happiness into his life and that she adored his family (and that they loved her so, so much).
He loved the fact that she'd trusted him from the get go with her dreams and aspirations, that she believed in him, in them; and that she was proud of being with him. He loved that she unlocked his secrets and brought out a part of him he didn't know existed. He loved that their relationship was so fulfilling; that she'd moved in with him like it was the most obvious thing, and that she agreed to marry him without letting him complete his proposal. He loved that Rose trusted him and loved him enough to become his wife and the mother of his children (though the first pregnancy was a HUGE surprise, but that's another story for another day). So yes, he loved Rose and was in love with everything about her. And really, it was the most obvious thing ever.

Thank you to everyone who's voted for me and my stories for Linera's Le VA awards. It's really humbling (and awesome) to realize that there are people out there who think my writing's worth their time, so yeah, thanks. I can't thank you in person or do a celebratory-silly-dance with you for my wins, but think of this drabble as a token of appreciation, a virtual kitkat-brownie-with-vanilla-icecream-and-roasted-nuts, if you may. So thank you, stick with me and cheers! Oh, and don't forget to review!
