What can you give someone who has everything?
This thought was going through Eddie's head six months before Jill's birthday (vaguely of course, you know the type of thought that creeps in between 'that dude's been staring at Jill for half-a-minute, I wonder if I should have a man-to-man with him' and 'I wonder what's for lunch today, nuggets?'). But over time, this thought took precedence over others, and Eddie found himself quite immersed by this challenge.

And honestly, the odds were kinda stacked against him, he thought.

Jill had a loving family, her mom and adoptive father loved her to bits. They had instilled in her good sense and morals, not to mention major beauty genes (thanks mostly to Emily Mastrano), not that Jill would ever believe it if you called her beautiful. She had good friends, people who cared about her immensely, and how could you not? Jill was just so…great, there's no way you couldn't like her or root for her. From Sonya to Rose to Sydney, everyone adored her.

Moreover she was a Moroi, so she didn't need to train relentlessly to become a guardian and always live dangerously. But she wanted to learn defensive-arts. She knew magic, which-Eddie thought-was wicked cool. And Jill was sweet and kind and just wonderful. She was a model, not to mention an up-and-coming designer's muse, and why not? Jill was freaking perfect!
And that was before you took into account that she was not only Moroi, but Royal. And not just any Royal, but the linchpin that was keeping the current monarchy stable. Oh yeah, Jill was THE-freaking-Dragomir-princess. Who'd died and been brought back to life by Adrian Ivashkov, the most sought-after bachelor in Court, whom she now shared a bond with, who (Eddie knew) was jointly planning a major-birthday bash for Jill along with Lissa.
So, really, what could he give her, that she already wouldn't have had showered upon her by her bond-mate, her family, or her bevy of friends? Whatever she'd want, someone would get her at the drop of a hat, no pun intended. (I mean, Lissa had full use of Court facilities and resources, she could make diamonds rain in Palm Springs if Jill suddenly desired it).
So what could he, Edison Castile, the her guardian, pseudo-brother, secret (maybe-not-so-secret) admirer and friend get Princess Jillian Mastrano Dragomir that she didn't already own?
Eddie thought long and hard, even tried to wheedle out of Jill what she wanted for her birthday, but Jill, very sweetly, informed him that she'd cherish anything from him. After all, it's the thought that counts.
Well, that would've been reassuring if in the time between her declaration and her birthday Sydney wasn't abducted, Adrian didn't disappeared and trouble hadn't trebled at Court or far more explosive events taken place. But all that happened. Funny, isn't it, how soon time passes?
But, something else happened too. Eddie and Jill started dating, casually of course, I mean they had a lot of issues to sort out (that Jill attributed mostly to Eddie's pig-headedness and conformity-streak, but that's okay, she still adored him). But that made Eddie's responsibility of getting Jill the perfect gift that much more important.
And as days dissolved into months, and Jill's birthday loomed closer, Eddie started to panic.

He wasn't good at hand-made crafts, he neither had the patience or the hands for it. Cooking was absolutely out of the question, he was trying to wow her, not poison her. And regular birthday gifts and cards seemed so inconsiderate and impersonal. It wasn't till 2 AM the night before Jill's birthday that he finally found the perfect gift. Sort of…
So, for her birthday, Eddie abducted Jill!

Yep, he did.

He whisked her to see the sight-worthy side of Palm Valley- visiting McCallum Theatre, Tree Park, Tramway; splashing in the Aquatic Centre and strolling hand-in-hand through art galleries in El Paseo.
For that day, they were just Eddie and Jill, out doing touristy things, being absolutely normal. And really, that was the best present Jill could ask for-the semblance of normality in her whirlwind life.

And she made sure to show her appreciation to him via a couple dozen kisses. And Eddie resolved to top it the following year.

Okay, so firstly, a lot of people were asking for an Eddie-Jill scene, so hope you liked this!
Secondly, I donno if the activities I've mentioned can be done in one day, so let's assume it's possible :p
Thirdly, thank you for reading this.
And fourthly (hey Four! Get it? Four? Divergent, anyone?) don't forget to review.
Cheers!
