Weiss was nervous.

First of all, she was gone for Friday and Saturday. Next, very few people (including her teammates) knew she was gone. Finally, she was nervous because people would probably ask questions as to where she was over most of the weekend. It was a Sunday and she was expected to be back at Beacon per the agreement between Ozpin and this Vlad character.

Vlad. He certainly was a man of mystery, as in he rarely talked about himself. He would simply ask Weiss more questions in return like her family life and her membership on Team RWBY. It seemed even during the training, Vlad was studying her every move with close intent. He was even writing down notes inside of a journal of some kind.

As she thought about her training, she also thought about her dream. The dream where she saw herself killing everyone she knew, including her own teammates. She would never do such a thing in a million years. Weiss had not told Vlad about her dream and the Bullhead ride back to Beacon was not doing her any favors. In a way, she was creeped out by Vlad. He was always quiet, watching.

"You haven't said a word." He said from the pilot's seat.

"I've been thinking."

"About what?"

"Why we need to drink blood. I mean, is it really necessary?" Weiss asked.

Now, Weiss was seated in the passenger's seat, which she had looked out of the window for a majority of the ride back. When Vlad said something to her thirty minutes into the flight, Weiss looked over, his gaze was still fixed on the horizon.

"I'm sorry if it's a bad time to ask but…"

"No, No, it's not. We have about an hour's flight left."

Vlad paused for a second, as if he was thinking of an answer.

"You know what the funny thing is?"

"What?"

"I ask myself the same question myself sometimes too."

The cockpit went quiet for a minute or two, the air so tense, Weiss felt like she could've cut the air in two.

"Why do you think we drink blood Weiss?" Vlad asked.

Weiss was about to answer a question, yet none of the responses in her head made sense.

"I don't know."

Vlad turned and looked at her. His ebony eyes bore into her as if he were looking into her soul.

"While we are forced to drink blood, it is often for our own benefit."

Weiss was confused. How was hurting the innocent and drinking their blood for her benefit. She had nothing to gain from something so…barbaric.

"Blood does more than sustain our hunger and thirst. It also enhances our abilities. You see, vampires when they turn become enhanced, more so than any human. We are faster, stronger, better than what we were before. Blood sustains our abilities as well."

"How?" Weiss questioned.

"Have you ever wondered why vampires can survive in the daylight?"

Weiss nodded. She was curious herself. She read in tales that vampires tended to burn to a crisp or a pile of ashes when exposed to the sun or intense light.

"Vampires have an ability that I called a sun shield. This is simply an extension of our aura at work."

"Like Semblances."

"Yes, exactly. But unlike Semblances, which are replenished with rest, our 'shields' become depleted the more sunlight we are exposed to. Go for a day without feeding and your skin will begin to burn and darken. Two days without feeding will cause you to burn until your nothing but a pile of ashes.

Weiss shuddered at the thought of her screaming in agony while she withered away and turned into a pile of white ashes. The very thought alone scared her.

"But blood also sustains or other abilities such as hypnotic suggestion, which I just taught you, and shapeshifting."

"Wait, did you just say shapeshifting?"

"Yes, the reason I did not teach you it was because it is more advanced than what I taught you this weekend. You will learn it some other time."

Weiss thought that the idea of shapeshifting sounded…well, cool. It may seem childish, but the idea that one could take on a different form sounded…exciting. She then thought about blood. A rather morbid thought crossed into her head that she wanted to ask Vlad.

"So far, I have drunken human blood. Are than any other types I can drink?"

Vlad looked with a half-amused smile on his face.

"Most certainly, Human and Faunus blood are practically the same. However, Faunus tends to have more blood and they taste bitter, so humans would be preferable in that situation. Animal blood can be drunk, but you would need massive amounts of it to feel satisfied. Then there's Grimm's blood.

Weiss looked over, slightly shocked by what she had just heard.

"Grimm have blood?"

"If you can feed on them before their bodies dissipate, yes. Their blood can sustain a vampire for days on end. But I would not recommend drinking it.

"Why?"

"Grimm's blood has…interesting side effects on a vampire. Only drink it in emergency situations."

"What side effects?"

Vlad did not say, but he looked embarrassed, as if he had a particular bad experience with Grimm's blood, so Weiss decided to drop the subject. While they were talking, Weiss thought back to her dream she had back at the castle in the mountain. It was time. She had to say something.

"Vlad I have a question for you."

"Ask away." He replied simply.

"I had a dream a few nights ago where I killed everyone I knew and drank their blood. Do you know what that means?"

Vlad looked at her and his smile from their conversation on Grimm's blood was gone. He looked somewhat pained.

"There is one final thing I forgot to mention when it comes to vampires. They tend to have dreams. Not just any dreams though. These dreams often show the future."

Suddenly, dread filled Weiss.

"Wait, I'm going to kill my friends?" She asked worried.

"Well, no. Every vision must be taken with a grain of salt. The vision shows a future that might be possible. You could simply be seeing one of many different futures. They may come true, but they not also come true."

Weiss was worried about that. Was her dream a sign of things to come, or are they a potential future that might happen. Despite this, Weiss felt drained from their conversation and slipped off to sleep.

Weiss figured that she would not be able to sleep after Vlad told her that her dreams could show her the future. But she slipped off to sleep rather easy.

She really wished she hadn't.

Her dream took her to a dark forest at night. Even in her dream, the forest at night felt soothing, almost calming. The forest was illuminated by the full moon, shining brightly in the sky. But something felt…off. The trees had claw marks on them. But they were only on the trees leading north. Weiss, against her better judgment, started to follow the claw markings.

"Hello?" She called out to nobody in particular.

She continued to follow the trail until she came to a forest clearing. In the middle stood a figure whose outline was vaguely familiar. Her hair seemed short and choppy and the figure hadn't noticed Weiss as it was staring at the moon.

"Hello?"

This time, the figured turned. Despite her being far away, Weiss could make out that the figure's eyes were two spate colors. One eye was emerald green and the other was…

Sliver…

"Ruby?" Weiss called out. Who else had sliver eyes? But why was one of her eyes green.

The figure that resembled Ruby turned and looked in Weiss's direction. Soon she crumbled to the ground in pain as if she were stabbed. Weiss saw something that was mortifying. Ruby's arms were extending outward and no longer resembled human arms. Her feet grew longer and her back became hunched. Her human face now resembled the snout of a dog and both eyes were green now.

"Ruby?"

The creature that had taken Ruby's place looked a Weiss and lunged…

Weiss woke with a cold sweat. Was that another vision? She had no time to thing as Vlad shook her awake.

"We are here. And it looks like someone is waiting for you." Vlad said.

Weiss sat up in her seat and noticed a figure standing by herself.

Ruby.

Weiss went into the back to pick up her belongings when Vlad called out to her.

"I will come again in another month. We will continue our training then."

"Aren't you coming to see Ozpin?"

Vlad did not answer that question. After a silent exchange between the two, Weiss stepped off and watched as Vlad's Bullhead took off into the evening sky.

As Weiss turned to walk to Beacon, she found herself tackled by a very excitable fifteen years old.

"You're back." Ruby cried out.

"Of course I'm back." Weiss began to notice a distinct lack of Yellow and Black.

"Where's Blake and Yang?"

"They went down to the mess hall. Before we go down there, let's go unpack your things back at the dorm."

"Okay." Weiss began to say as she walked forward only for Ruby to stop her.

"Also, I want to talk to you at the dorm. In private"

A/N: Duh, Duh, Duh! Cliffhanger! The next chapter will deal with Weiss returning to Beacon and certain revelations come to light. Also, I noticed how many of you voted for the Avatar AU. That will be the next fic and I am currently planning it alongside this one. I will do a shipping collection fic as well but that will be further down the road.

Don't forget to favorite, follow, and review. Your reviews help me a lot! Thanks

Have an awesome day!
