Weiss had no idea how much time passed in the waiting room.
To her, nights always seemed to go by rather quickly. That was not the case for tonight. The night seemed to drag on and on. Weiss looked up at the clock.
12:59 A.M. That was what the clock read.
Weiss then turned her head back down to the floor, occasionally, picking up a magazine, flipping through it, only to put it back down again. When Weiss saw a weapons magazine on the table, she was instantly saddened. Ruby loved those types of magazines. Heck, she even subscribed to one while they were at Beacon. Weiss could not shake the image of Ruby from her head, not matter how hard she tried. She just kept seeing the image if a bloodied Ruby, crying and begging for Weiss to end her pain.
Seeing Ruby reduced to a confident person to something akin to a crying child troubled her deeply. Ruby had taken down a Nevermore, and was pretty much the heart and soul of Team RWBY.
'What if I lose her?' Weiss thought.
Why did she say I? Of course, Yang would possibly be devastated by hearing her sister had died, but Weiss began to think of her and Ruby again. Were her and Weiss really a thing?
"Weiss?"
The aforementioned heiress looked up to see both Blake and Yang standing side by side. Blake had an emotionless expression on her face. However, Yang looked downright terrified. Then, without warning, the blonde surged forward and grabbed picked Weiss up.
"Where is she? Is she okay?"
When Yang had heard her sister had been hurt, she immediately sprung to life. If she was still sleeping then, the sleep had all been erased from her eyes. She and Blake threw on their attire and made a beeline for the hospital. When Yang went up to the receptionist's desk, they pointed her and Blake the waiting room.
"Miss Rose is in surgery right now. Your friend is also waiting for her in the waiting room right now if you want to join her."
Blake and Yang arrived to find Weiss staring at the floor; apparently, it was more interesting than the pile of magazines on the table. They also noticed a part of her dress and combat skirt was covered in blood. Ruby's blood.
"Weiss?" Blake said.
The heiress looked up at the black and yellow duo and Yang could immediately tell she had a long night. What had shocked Yang, even if it was for a second, was that Weiss' eyes were red and puffy. She must've been crying. Yang knew that Ruby had feelings for Weiss, but did not know if the cold-hearted heiress shared the same. But that did not matter, what mattered was if Weiss knew what happened to Ruby. Yang grabbed Weiss by the shoulders and put her on her feet.
"Where is she, is she okay?"
The look in Weiss' eyes changed from sadness to quick annoyance.
"Let go of me you brute, I'll tell you."
Yang immediately regained her composure. Both she and Blake sat on the two seats on the opposite of Weiss.
"Tell us the whole story." The blonde brawler said.
"And that's what happened." Weiss had just got done telling her story. According to Weiss, the attack happened not more than two hours ago. The time now was 1:30 A.M.
"Why did you guys not call us? We could've helped." Blake said, her partner was staring at the floor, trying to take the newfound information in.
"Ruby had assumed that the monster we were going against was a Beowolf. We should've called you before we went."
Then, the three sat there in complete silence for what seemed like an eternity.
Then, the doors from the intensive care unit opened and a female doctor walked through, her brow looked rather sweaty.
"Girls."
The three looked up from the floor and waited with held breath.
"Ruby Rose has just got out of surgery. Thankfully, her injuries are non-life threatening."
The three let out a collective sigh of relief. Ruby was going to be okay.
"However, she is in recovery right now and it will be awhile before she wakes up. She will then be moved to a room."
"When will she get out of the hospital?" Yang said.
"Well, judging by the size of the wound, she will be in the hospital for a few more days."
"Is there anything more?" Blake said.
"Well, yes there is. We noticed that when she was attacked, her aura was recovering, but at a rather slow rate. Whatever attacked her in the plaza tonight, its bite managed to pierce through her aura. Thankfully, the bite missed the vital blood vessels, but she lost a lot of blood."
"Can we see her?" Yang said.
"I am sorry, but if we moved her to her room, visiting hours are over. You would have to see her again tomorrow."
"WHAT!?" Yang roared, her eyes going from lilac to blood red.
"I came all the way here to see my sister and I'll be damned if I don't see her."
"Yang!" Calm down." Blake said.
Yang looked behind at her partner, her rage softened and her eyes went back to their original color.
"You are allowed to look into the window at recovery if you want to see her."
Weiss sped off to recovery.
"What's wrong with her?" Blake questioned.
When Weiss arrived at recovery, she saw a rather strange sight. Lying on a bed was Ruby, covered in blankets and sleeping heavily. Her mouth was slightly opened, no sign of pain. Her left shoulder was heavily bandaged, indicating where the bite was.
"Long night?" a voice called out behind her.
Standing behind her was Yang, her expression neutral and serious. A truly rare sight to see. Yang walked up to the window and peered in at her sleeping sister, who was sleeping as a result of the antithesis.
"Yeah." Weiss muttered, her eyes not leaving Ruby's sleeping form. "Where's Blake?"
"I sent her back to Beacon. I want to talk to you."
"What about?"
"You looked like you just finished crying when me and Blake walked in."
"Blake and I." the heiress corrected her.
"Whatever." She simply shrugged. "The fact of the matter is that you care for Ruby.
"Of course I do, she is our leader."
"No, I mean, you care for her more than that.
"What do you mean?" Weiss questioned.
"Ruby came to me before you came back and told me she likes you. Like, really, really likes you. I think she may love you."
"What? N…no she must be going through a phase."
"Then why is your face all red?" the blonde pointed out.
It was true; Weiss felt all of her blood rush to her face. It was time she told Yang.
"Yang…before tonight…your sister kissed me…"
"On the lips?"
"Yes." Weiss confirmed it to be true.
Then, in surprise case of mood whiplash, Yang pumped her fist, her face beaming.
"Yeah! I knew my sister would do that eventually!"
"S...shut up!" Weiss yelled at her.
"But it's so adorable; my sister finally did the thing."
"Yang, your sister kissed me square on the lips. I don't think it means anything."
"Oh yeah it does." The blonde replied. "She told me that she likes you."
"Wait, when did this happen?"
"Before you came back from you training or whatever you went off to."
Great, Yang knew. Weiss thought about a retort.
"Well, I saw you sleeping with Blake tonight."
Instead of an embarrassed response like Weiss, Yang simply shrugged her shoulders.
"Yeah, we do that now."
Weiss was completely caught off guard. She said like it was natural or something.
"Wait, when did you and Blake become I thing?"
"Well, a little while ago, back at the dance, I convinced her to come. Me and her danced and I never had that much fun in my life. After we came back from Mountain Glenn, I realized I had feelings for her. When I told her, it turns out she felt the same way as me and we've been together ever since then."
"Does Ruby know?"
"Oh yeah. I think most of our friends know already. Team JNPR knows and they think nothing of it.
"I see."
"How do you feel about Ruby? And be honest with me."
Weiss thought for a good, solid minute before finding her answer.
"When Ruby kissed me on the lips, I felt like I could've shoved her off of me. In fact, I wanted to. But then, I simply let it continue. I liked it. And when I saw her in pain, it was the most hurtful things I ever saw. I felt completely and utterly helpless."
It suddenly it Weiss like a large freight train. She had developed feelings for Ruby. Her personality, her appearance, and her demeanor were things that drew Weiss to her like a moth were be drawn to an open flame.
"I…i…"
"Well, spit it out girl!"
"I think I'm in love with Ruby Rose."
"There you go. Do you feel better?"
Weiss did in fact; felt a huge weight lifted off of her shoulders. If felt good. She simply nodded her head.
"Good. Well when Ruby gets moved to a hospital room, you can tell her that yourself." Yang said as she walked off.
Weiss stood there for a good minute before Yang called back to her.
"Hey Weiss, you coming?"
"You go on ahead Yang; I'll stay here for five minutes."
"Suit yourself." The blonde said as she walked off.
Weiss knew that she would be at the hospital for more than five minutes.
A/N: Welp, another chapter completed. This is the first chapter in the arc I like to call 'The Red Wolf'. I, again, apologize for the rushed romance. I will try to flesh it out in later chapters. But for now, it response time. Only one question.
To awesomeaustin65: Yes, Vampires in this story have the ability to heal themselves, but it all depends on their blood and how much they consumed. Vampires, who drank a lot of blood, will heal much more instantly. I kinda works both ways, they can heal instantly or passively.
