"Well Miss Schnee, she seems to be fine."
"Are you sure? Check again."
Earlier that day, Ruby woke up with a severe pain in her chest. Weiss, being the cautious person that she is, immediately rushed Ruby down to infirmary.
"Everything checks out. Her breathing is fine, her blood pressure is normal and nothing seems to be out of place other than a higher than normal heart rate." The nurse said without a doubt in her mind.
Weiss looked over on the table and saw Ruby. The two had been girlfriends for almost a month and yet, the two almost seemed to communicate silently. Ruby sat on the table clutching her chest. When Ruby first did that in the morning, Weiss feared a heart attack was near.
It was almost two weeks since the attack and other than having headaches (which Ruby took medicine for), she was doing well. Ruby did not want to even see the doctor, but after Weiss promised Ruby they would go to the new bakery downtown, Ruby gladly pulled her sleeve and allowed the nurse to take samples of her blood. Of course, Weiss had to restrain herself during the whole affair. Even from a distance, she could smell Ruby's blood.
"I did notice however that Ruby has an abnormal heart rate, but I believe it is a side effect of the chest pain." The nurse said as she walked over to a cabinet and pulled out a small pill bottle.
"These are some anti-inflammatory pills. These should be able to subdue the pain in her chest."
"Thank you nurse." Weiss said as she took the pills from the nurse's open palm.
"If the pain is still they later or it gets worse, come back here immediately."
And with that, Ruby and Weiss walked out the infirmary together. The two stood there in silence for about ten seconds.
"Can we go now?" Ruby said, putting on her best puppy dog eyes to Weiss.
"You dolt. Well, a promise is a promise. Let's go."
"Great, I'm starving!" Ruby said as she sped off for the airship dock.
"Wait!" Weiss called out to her teammate, chasing after her.
Needless to say, their trip to the bakery was…interesting. Ruby had ordered plenty of food. Not just cookies, but tarts and a small cake. Weiss just sat there in stunned silence as she ate.
"Why are you so hungry?"
"Wah?" Ruby said, halfway through eating a cake.
"Your mouth is full."
Ruby swallowed her food promptly. "I just am. I felt like I haven't eaten anything since breakfast."
Weiss pondered at that remark. Ruby had a pretty decent breakfast today. How she was still hungry was beyond her.
"Don't forget to take your pill. And please don't get sick from this."
Sure enough, she did. Ruby ended up being carried back to Beacon on Weiss' back from overeating. Sure she took her pill, but then she ordered another cake.
"Ughhh." Ruby said in a stupor.
"That's what you get from eating too many sweets." Weiss scolded her.
"It was just so good…ow…" Ruby said, half awake and half asleep.
They soon arrived at the dorm and Weiss dressed Ruby in a red shirt and black shorts and carried her up to her bed.
"Me, Blake and Yang will be eating dinner at the mess hall. If you need us, call us on your scroll.
"Thanks Weiss. Lean closer for a second."
Weiss did as she was told and soon received a kiss on the cheek by Ruby. Weiss began to redden in the face. Even though that had held hands and gave each other kisses on the cheek, it was still exciting.
"Hey Weiss what's wrong? Getting a little hot under there?"
"Shut up Xiao Long."
After they left, Ruby fell deep into a sweet induced sleep.
When Ruby awoke next, her teammates were sleep and it was night.
'Must've slept longer than I thought.'
Ruby jumped down from her bed and look on her night stand. The bottle of pills was there and along with them was a little note.
Ruby,
Don't forget to take this if you wake up again.
W-
Ruby smiled. Weiss was so caring at time yet can be so demanding at others. Ruby quickly and silently popped the lid of and swallowed a pill. Just a she did, she felt a massive pain wash over her. Ruby fell to her knees crying out silently. The infirmary was open and was staffed constantly in case of a massive emergency. Ruby quietly opened the door and began to make her way down there.
Ruby had to cross the courtyard to reach the office. As she stepped near the fountain, she felt the rays of light from the moon hit her. All the pain in her chest disappeared as she approached the fountain. Ruby felt a relative calm wash over her. It felt soothing, it felt peaceful. But then, a sudden pain shot in both her chest and her shoulder.
"What the…" Ruby began to say, but fell on her knees in excruciating pain. As she clutched her hands, she felt as if they were being stabbed by knives. When Ruby looked down, she almost screamed.
Her finger nails were claws. Long, sharp, black claws. Ruby proceed to look into the fountain's water where she saw her reflection staring right back at her. Her hair was much longer, almost down to her shoulders and her eyes were a beautiful but haunting emerald green. Ruby saw in her mouth four, large canine teeth. "What's happening to me?" Ruby cried, tears growing in the pits of her eyes.
Soon, Ruby fell to the ground as she watched her arms and legs grown long and hairy. She felt and heard the sounds and snapping. The sounds of her bones being rearranged. Ruby let out a yell of pain and felt her mouth and nose grown and fuse into a dog-like snout. The hair on her body was black and smooth. She felt her ears grow into points. Ruby's yell began to go from high pitch and soon sounded like and animal's scream.
Just as quick as it happened, it was over. Ruby walked over to the fountain and looked in. Staring back was the same beast she saw the fateful night, but this time, it had green eyes.
'Is that…me?'
But soon, Ruby's head felt as if it were being dunked in a pool of acid. Ruby felt her memories fading away. She saw images of her mother, Yang and all of her friends vanish. Her memories of Weiss and even her name were the last to go.
Soon, only a monster stood at the fountain. All of her memories were gone and replaced with one instinct. To kill.
The Werewolf lifted it's head and let out a mighty howl.
Elsewhere
Ozpin was overlooking a series of documents when he heard a loud howl coming from the courtyard.
"Headmaster! I think a Beowolf is on campus! What do we do?" Glynda said as she rushed into the office."
Ozpin calmly stood up from his desk and pulled out a green shrub from his desk.
"Lock down the academy. Nothing gets in or out. Take the students and put them into the mess hall." He said as he handed Glynda the plant. "And but this on the door."
"This is…"
"Glynda, you have to trust me. That is not a Beowolf out there and it could seriously put the lives of the students in jeopardy. Please do as I say."
Glynda nodded her head and rushed off as she went to sound the alarm.
"I've seen this before." Ozpin said as he looked out of his window and heard the alarms begin to sound.
A/N: Sorry, I have been away for too long. Life decided to throw some curve balls my way and I was busy with some things. I will try to update this story as best as I can, but I hope you enjoyed this chapter.
Next Chapter: Team RWBY is awoken from their sleep and is told to go to the mess hall. Only one question though. Where is Ruby?
On a side note, The reason why Ruby's chest hurts and why she ate so much is because it is a side effect of being a werewolf. The chest hurts because the heart expands to prepare for the transformation.
