What's up, mates? This is Black Fuego with a late Valentine's special for The BLAD of RWBY and JNPR. I was planning to upload this on Valentine's Day itself, but I was too busy to do so. I had quite a bit of fun writing this and I hope all of you will enjoy it. I hope you all had a wonderful Valentine's Day and like this story.
Disclaimer: I don't own the RWBY series or any other series mentioned in this story, but I wish there was and actual RWBY Valentine's special or something. That would be awesome.
BLAD of RWBY and JNPR Valentines Special: Ruby Rose: Beacon's Cupid (Can be considered non-canon to my story)
"Woo! I'm so excited for this weekend! Can you girls believe that Valentine's Day is almost here?" Nora asked excitedly, practically jumping in joy.
"I know. I'm quite excited for the upcoming holiday as well," Pyrrha nodded with a bright smile.
"Because you have someone to spend it with?" Ruby asked, looking up from her weapons magazine.
"I think that's the case with most of us in our group, Sis," Yang laughed as she ruffled her little sister's hair playfully.
It was close to Valentine's Day at Beacon Academy and nearly everyone was excited for it. Among the exited students were three teams that had a close bond with one another; Teams RWBY, JNPR and BLAD. Currently Nora, Pyrrha, Ruby and Yang were relaxing near Beacon Cliffs, enjoying the view of the Emerald Forest without the risk of being catapulted into it by their headmaster.
"It's a shame that the other girls couldn't join us, though," Pyrrha sighed, "I was hoping to ask Weiss if we could go on a double date in town this weekend before we have to return for the Valentine's Ball."
"Yeah, well Weiss volunteered herself to help set up the dance, and somehow convinced Blake to join her," Ruby explained, "And Professor Ozpin convinced Bro's team to perform a few songs for the dance because the last group he hired backed out at the last minute along with helping to set up the dance. They're going to be really busy for a while."
"I was really hoping to see the Achieve-Men in person," Yang pouted for a moment before looking back to her friends with a reassuring smile, "But hearing Sparky's team play for the school again is the next best thing."
"Speaking of the dance, are you two going with anyone?" Nora asked, pointing at the sisters. "Pyrrha, Weiss and I are going with our boyfriends and Ash asked Velvet to go with him a few days ago. You two, along with Blakey, Levy and Dia, are the only ones without a date, and Dia said she wasn't going with anyone."
"Not me. This hot dragon's going solo," Yang grinned as she stood up and gestured to herself, "There's no guy in Beacon that can handle this."
"Except maybe Baltazar, but he turned you down when you asked him out back at Signal," Ruby giggled at her sister's expense.
"Shut up, Ruby," Yang glared, "I asked him out because I wanted him to be more outgoing and have a little dating experience by the time he met up with Weiss, but the lightning charged punk was way too stubborn. The guy turned down every date I set up for him, and even dates that I had nothing to do with, because the only person he would ever go out with is his white haired princess."
"Aww…that's so sweet," Pyrrha gushed, "Baltazar is a very loyal person, isn't he?"
"Loyal as a dog, fierce as a tiger," Nora grinned, causing everyone to laugh.
"So are you going with anyone, Ruby?" The red head asked her fellow riflewoman.
"Of course," Ruby nodded, surprising Pyrrha and Nora greatly while causing Yang to look at her strangely, "I'm going with my sweetheart. Is it that much of a surprise?"
"She was asking if you're going to the dance with a boy, Ruby…not Crescent Rose," Yang sighed as she pinched the bridge of her nose, expecting the response.
"What?!" Ruby shouted in surprise before turning to her friends with a blush on her face, "T-There's no way I'm going to the dance with a boy!"
"Would you go if it was Cody?" Pyrrha asked innocently, causing the young rose to blush more, "I seem to recall Baltazar and Levy talking about having a couple of their old friends from Forjador City over for Valentine's Day, and they said that Cody might be able to come."
"But doesn't Signal have its own dance on Valentine's Day?" Nora questioned.
"Yeah, but it's not as big as it is here apparently," Yang said, "According to Senior and Uncle Qrow, Valentine's Day has always been a big thing in Beacon. The dance is always a hit and everyone seemed to have fun here. When Professor Ozpin took over, he made it so other people can come in and enjoy the holiday, making it more of a success."
"Really?" Pyrrha's eyes went wide, "Why would he do that?"
"Most likely to make some money…at least that's what Weiss thought," Yang shrugged, "We can go to the dance for free, but visitors have to pay a small fee in order to come to the dance and enjoy themselves."
"The ballroom's going to be full once the weekend comes," Ruby muttered.
"Got that right," Nora nodded, "But what about the others?"
"As far as I know, they'll probably be too busy to actually find dates," Pyrrha spoke up, "Not only is Blake helping to set up the dance, both her and Weiss are guest performers for Team BLAD as a bassist and singer respectively, so those two, along with Levy, are going to be too busy to actually find anyone to go with."
"Well…what if we helped?" Ruby asked, causing her friends to look at her strangely.
"What do you mean by 'help'?" Nora asked.
"We could find dates for them!" Ruby beamed, "Since they'll be too busy to find some themselves, then it's up to us, as their friends, to search for them!"
"Good idea, Sis," Yang grinned, "You got me pumped. There's no way that I'll-"
"Yang!"
"AAH!" The girls screamed and jumped slightly when they heard the yell, and turned to see Baltazar and Blake standing right behind Yang, both panting for some reason.
"We've…been looking…for you…for over an hour!" Baltazar gasped. "Weiss sent us…to find you!"
"You are supposed to help us prepare for the upcoming dance," Blake said her partner, panting slightly herself.
"What?!" Yang shouted, "Why do I have to help? I wasn't signed up!"
"It's to pay back for damaging the auditorium to the point of massive reconstruction during our midterm fight a while back," Baltazar explained, "It's also one of the reasons my team is providing music for the dance after the Achieve-Men decided to no-show."
"Oh come on, that was months ago!" Yang complained loudly, "I thought we paid it off by working for the school's cooks for a month!"
"Apparently there's still a bit more money you two have to pay," Blake answered calmly as she gripped her friend's shoulder. "Come on, we have to go."
"And I hope you have an excuse for Weiss about not showing up to help," Baltazar sighed, "Otherwise she'll work you to the bone like what she's doing to team CRDL right now and probably prevent you from going into the local clubs for a while."
"How do you know that if you've been looking for me for over an hour?" Yang asked.
"Ash messaged us," Baltazar said as he and Blake pulled out their Scrolls, "She's putting everyone on overdrive in order to make the dance perfect. Apparently she's scaring everyone in the ballroom with her take charge attitude…even the instructors."
"…" Everyone sweatdropped as they pictured their white haired friend yelling at everyone and giving orders to the instructors.
"We have to get going," Blake spoke, "We really don't want to make Weiss upset any more than she already is."
"She's already said she was going to cut us off from our Ninjas of Love books for a week after the dance is over if we take too long to find you, and I don't want to know what else she'll do to us if were any later," Baltazar said evenly as he grabbed Yang's other shoulder.
"W-Wait!" Yang stuttered, "D-Don't tell me we-"
Before she could finish her sentence, she disappeared along with the ninja pair in a blue, yellow and black blur.
"Oh…" Ruby winced, "I forgot that Yang hates it when she has to travel in high speed like how Blake and Bro go. It messes with her hair too much."
"Doesn't she speed on her motorcycle though?" Pyrrha asked, "And she was fine with flying through the air and trees during initiation."
"Her helmet makes sure it doesn't get too damaged and she was in control when Professor Ozpin launched us into the forest," Ruby sighed, "So are you two going to help me with getting our friends dates?"
"I'm sorry, Ruby," Pyrrha apologized, "But Nora and I are going to busy this week to help as well."
"Levy's going to teach us how to make chocolate for our boyfriends and we need the practice," Nora explained sadly, "We really wish we could help, though. It sounded fun."
"Oh it's fine," Ruby smiled, "If you guys can't make it, then that's ok. Besides, there's still one person who will help me."
-Downtown Vale City, Rooftop Café-
"You want me to help you do what?" Cody asked in disbelief as he set his green tea down, staring at his best friend with wide eyes.
"I need you to help me find dates for Blake and Levy," Ruby answered in exasperation taking a sip of sweet ice tea, "Seriously, Cody, I told you five times already."
"But why me?" The weapons smith pressed, "Couldn't you ask your sister or my brother instead?"
"They're both too busy setting up for the Valentine's Ball to help," The young leader explained with a sweatdrop, "Besides; they still need to finish paying the school for the damage they caused in the auditorium."
"I remember Big Sis sending me a message about that," Cody sweatdropped as well, "Didn't they pay it off, though?"
"There's still a little they have to pay," Ruby sighed, "And before you ask, the others can't help either. They're either learning to make chocolates for Valentine's or setting up the dance. You're the only one I can turn to right now."
"Does it have to be me though?" Cody tried once more to get out of his situation, "I mean, I have a school project that I need to finish and I don't have any time to help."
"No you don't. You're suspended from Signal for this week for using the forge stations to make an army of robot toy soldiers to attack the school bullies," Ruby explained.
"Oh come on, how did you…" Cody cried before he paused and began glaring at his best friend, "Baltazar and Weiss found out and told the others didn't they?"
"Actually it was Levy," Ruby shrugged, making the weapons smith's eyes go wide, "She accidentally read the message Mrs. Azul sent to Baltazar from his Scroll last week and told us about it. Yang and Nora were praising you for the idea while Weiss was threatening to freeze you too a wall again once she sees you. Oddly enough, Baltazar was actually upset because he wished he thought of it."
"Well I did get the idea from the time the two of you made a mountain of toys for no reason during our first year," Cody shrugged.
"Five mountains," Ruby smirked.
"…Wow you two must've been bored," Cody shook his head then sighed in defeat, "Oh all right I'll help."
"Yay!" Ruby jumped for joy and rushed over to her best friend and gave him a big hug, "Thanks so much!"
"Yeah yeah, don't mention it," Cody sighed, but couldn't help but smile at the slightly older girl, "At least I don't have to watch over Sarah all the time now." He then looked at Ruby with a curious expression, "So who's the first person we're going to set up."
The young rose looked up to her friend, not letting go of him, and answered with a big grin, "My teammate: Blake Belladonna."
-Next day, Streets of Downtown Vale City, late afternoon-
"I'm surprised with how much free time you have," Cody said as he and Ruby walked around town, searching for a good date for Blake.
"Classes are canceled for the week because of the Valentine's Ball. Didn't your parents tell you?" Ruby questioned as she ate a bag of small cookies that her best friend bought for her earlier.
"They did, but Papi also said that almost every student in Beacon has to contribute to the preparations in some way, from the first years to the fourth years." Cody explained, "Valentine's Day has always been a big thing in that school for some reason according to him. I would've thought you'd be helping out, considering the rest of your team is helping also."
"Oh, I got exempt for helping with the dance because of how well I did in my leaders only mission exam last week, so even if I was signed up to help, I don't need to go," Ruby grinned proudly, "Some of the others were exempt too, but they were roped into doing other things. Like Levy. She somehow became the first year cooking instructor for the week and was tasked to teach those in her class how to make good chocolate before Valentine's Day."
"Is Big Sis in that class too?" Cody asked in fear, well aware of the fencer's lack of cooking skills.
"Nope," Ruby grinned, "She volunteered herself to be part of the first year organization team for the dance along with the rest of my team, Bro's team, Ren and other first year students. She's been scaring everyone, even our teachers, with her attitude and need for making the ballroom look perfect for the dance. Even Bro's too afraid to go near her."
"Can't say I blame him. Weiss is scary when she's really mad," Cody shivered before noticing some familiar figures off in the distance. "Hey, is that Ash over there? And is that the Monkey Faunus that was hanging out with you guys back at the festivals?"
"What? Where?" Ruby questioned as she looked at the same direction the weapons smith was staring at and noticed her friends were indeed there, standing beside some motorcycles with depressed looks on their faces.
"Wonder what those two are so upset about?" Cody asked.
"Not sure," Ruby shook her head before she pocketed her snacks and began tugging her friend's sleeve. "C'mon, let's go see what they're up to."
"Eh, why not?" Cody shrugged as the pair walked closer to the spikey haired duo. As the two moved closer, they started listening to their conversation and sweatdropped at what they heard.
"I'm telling you dude that this isn't going to work," Ash sighed as he leaned on his silver motorcycle, Mahukona, "We've been sitting here for hours and not a single chick came to hit on us."
"Oh relax, man, it's going to work. Trust me," Sun grinned confidently, a shoulder over his golden yellow motorcycle, Sarutobi.
"I still don't understand why you need me to help you get a date for Beacon's Valentine's Ball, dude," Ash questioned the monkey tailed blonde.
"You know how to charm most women and you're a fairly nice guy too," Sun explained, "Besides, I'd figure you'd like to find yourself a date also."
"For the last time, dude, I don't need help getting a date!" Ash exclaimed, waving his arms wildly, "I asked my classmate and old temporary teammate Velvet to go to the dance with me just a few days ago and she said yes! Why do I need to be here looking for a date when I already have one?!"
"What?!" Sun asked loudly, "Why didn't you say anything sooner!"
"You kept talking so much that I couldn't get a word in!" Ash argued and the two were growling at each other, faces touching.
"Uh…is this a bad time?" Cody asked once he and Ruby reached the arguing pair, causing them both to stare at the young weapons smith in shock, their faces still pressed together. "And will you two please not have your faces touching each other like that? I swear, it looks like one of those images from my cousin Crystal's yaoi manga collection."
"What!" The pair of guys shouted and immediately jumped away from one another.
"…" Ruby stared at the guys in confusion before turning to her friend and asking innocently, "Uh…what does 'Yaoi' mean?" The question made Sun pale and Ash to stare at the young pair in horror, hoping that his leader's younger brother wouldn't try and corrupt the young rose's mind.
"Ask Yang or Weiss about it, they can explain it better than I could," Cody answered smoothly when he suddenly began to grin mischievously. "In fact why don't you ask Baltazar or one of your guy friends what 'Yuri' means too? It's kinda similar to yaoi so it should be a good idea for you to know both."
"Ok," Ruby nodded, causing Sun's eyes to go wide and Ash to stare at the little Tiger Faunus in disbelief.
"Holy Hell…the Ice Princess was right. He is a little troublemaker," Ash thought before clearing his throat, "So, what are you guys doing here?"
"Yeah, it's kinda odd seeing the little reaper and the tiger midget together like this," Sun mused.
"I'm not a midget!" Cody shouted heatedly.
"Dude, Yang and Blake are taller than you," Ash deadpanned, "Face it, you're short."
"They're not that much taller than me! I'm not that short, dammit!" Cody argued.
"But Baltazar said that everyone in your family is fairly short. Aren't you about the average size for a member of the Azul family?" Ruby asked.
"Aww Ruby, not you too," Cody sighed in defeat, his head hanging down.
"Hey guys!" A happy and apologetic voice called out and everyone turned to see Jaune walking up to them with bags in his hands. "Sorry I'm late. There were so many people getting ingredients for chocolate and…" The blonde swordsman trailed off as he noticed the sad look on Sun's face. "No one?"
"Not even a passing glance," Sun sighed.
"I told you it wasn't going to work," Ash glared, "And why did you insisted on bringing Jaune along too?"
"You said he was a chick magnet!" Sun argued.
"He already has a girlfriend! He doesn't need to be a chick magnet when he has a chick of his own!" Ash argued back.
"There they go again," Jaune sighed as he placed the bags near an electric blue motorcycle.
"Uh…What's going on?" Ruby asked her fellow leader.
"Oh, Sun showed up earlier this week and convinced me and Ash to help him pick up girls with motorcycles so he could find a date for the Valentine's Ball," Jaune explained, "I took advantage of the situation and bought more chocolate ingredients for Levy's temporary cooking class. I'm the assistant chef."
"Ok, I understand," The black haired boy nodded then pointed at the blue motorcycle, "But why do you have my brother's bike? He hardly ever takes Frozen Lightning out for a spin unless he has to go to long distances."
"He let me borrow it after Ash gave him permission to go today," Jaune shrugged, "I'm surprised by how well designed it is, though. He must've done a lot of work in order to make it run and look so good."
"Yang forced him to start it, but you know as well as I do that once he starts a project, he'll finish it and finish it how it's like in his head," Cody smiled, "My brother may not like riding his motorcycle, but he sure did like making it."
"Excuse me? Did you say that this motorcycle was made by hand?" A pair of girls walked up to Cody with wide eyes, surprising the guys and causing Ruby to stare at them angrily.
"Uh…yeah, it is." Cody replied uncertainly, "My big brother made it a year ago when he was in Signal Academy. I'm actually working on my own motorcycle at the moment and it's nearly done."
"Oh wow! You're making a motorcycle!" The girls exclaimed with stars in their eyes.
"I can make all sorts of things," Cody started to brag as he pointed to himself, "You're looking at one of the best metal smiths in all of Forjador City: the City of Craftsmen, and an heir of Azure Armory Inc., Cordovan Azul, but you can call me Cody."
"So cool!" The girls exclaimed once more.
"Oh come on!" Sun shouted into the air, gripping his hair in frustration, "We spent hours trying to get girls to hit on us, and that tiger striped midget manages to get a pair of twins in less than five minutes?! What the hell?"
"Must be that Azul charm I heard Mr. Ramon talk about back at our fieldtrip to Forjador City a while back," Jaune mused while looking at Ash.
"Uh…I can't believe I'm saying this, but I suggest we make those girls go away, very quickly I might add," Ash said in a frightened tone.
"Why would we do that?" Sun asked.
Ash simply pointed at Ruby, who looked like she was about to erupt in anger and was slowly reaching for Crescent Rose.
"Oh…" Sun paled.
"H-Hey ladies," Jaune spoke up nervously with a timid grin, "Is it possible for you to leave? I'm afraid that we don't have much time to spend and we really need to get back to Beacon."
"Aww, do you have to leave?" The twins wined as they stared at Cody with puppy dog eyes.
"Sorry girls, they're right. I need to talk to these guys and then I have to head out," Cody explained smoothly, not at all affected by the girl's looks, "And you can stop with the eyes. The puppy dog eyes are nothing compared to my sister's kitten eyes. Now those are potent."
"We'll take your word for it," Jaune and Ash muttered together, well aware of how adorable the young nine year old girl could be.
"But what if we come with you?" The twins begged before suddenly a giant crescent blade appeared in front of them and stuck itself into the sidewalk, frightening the pair.
"He said we're leaving," Ruby spoke calmly and ominously, causing the older boys to shiver a little.
"Well…looks Ruby can be as scary as Yang when she wants to be," Jaune muttered to his friends.
"Well they are sisters. It should be expected," Ash whispered back as the twins began running in fear.
"Something tells me that it's a common occurrence with those two though," Sun said as he pointed to Cody, who simply had a calm, if almost bored, expression on his face.
"…It's things like this where I'm reminded that Professor Qrow likes to call you his little Rose Reaper," Cody laughed calmly, causing Ruby to turn to him and smile sheepishly.
"So…what are you two here for again?" Ash asked.
"Oh…right," Ruby's eyes went wide in remembrance and turned to Sun, "Hey Sun, mind if I ask you something?"
-Next day, Beacon Academy, Ballroom, Afternoon-
"Hey there, Blake. Wanna go to the Valentine's Ball with me?" Sun asked cheerfully, grinning up to the Cat Faunus that was standing on a ladder and trying to hang a sign.
"Uh…" Blake simply stood there with a blush on her face, unsure of what to say.
"Sun Wukong! What in the world are you doing here?!" Weiss shouted from behind the Monkey Faunus.
"Just asking this cute kitten to the dance. Is that so wrong?" Sun asked sheepishly.
"Not when we're busy setting up for the dance!" The heiress argued before turning to her teammate. "Look, I don't mind if this monkey tailed rapscallion of a boyfriend of yours asks you out, but make him wait until we're done setting up here first before he does it."
"He's not my boyfriend!" Blake shouted, embarrassed by the accusation.
"Really?" Baltazar asked from behind Blake, standing on the ceiling like it was an everyday thing for him. "I would've thought spending two days alone with him would cause some kind of spark between you two."
"EEK!" Blake screamed before turning around and glared at her fellow Faunus Ninja, not caring that he was defying gravity at the moment, "Why do you always sneak up on people like that?"
"It's a habit," The lightning ninja shrugged before turning to his monkey tailed friend, "So did anything happen between you two or what?"
"Nah, most of the time all we did was small talk and her giving me weird looks," Sun shook his head as Blake glared at him, "Like that."
"Looks like Blake's taken care of," Ruby sighed happily as she watched the scene from the ballroom exit.
"And it looks like my brother's having fun with that adhesive aura skill Kira taught him before we left Forjador City," Cody laughed as he saw many of the students looking at the elder Azul in surprise.
"I wish I could do that," Ruby sighed before instantly perking up, "But Baltazar did promise to teach me how to run on water when I have more experience with my Speed Semblance."
"I remember Abuelito doing that often when I was a kid and always wished that I could do that," Cody smiled, "I find it great knowing that his technique will finally be used by someone who can actually use it. Levy and Baltazar know how it's done, but they can't perform the skill themselves because they don't have the Speed Semblance to use it properly."
"Water Running was a skill created by your grandfather?" Ruby asked with wide eyes, surprised and touched that Baltazar was going to teach her a technique created by a family member, his grandfather no less, and received a nod in confirmation.
"Hey Ruby!" Dia shouted as she ran towards the scythe user, "Do you think you can help us with something? We got a few guests coming in a bit and we're short on help. Mind if you and Cody show them around the campus?"
"Oh sure, no problem," Ruby agreed.
"Eh, why not. Got nothing else to do at the moment," Cody shrugged.
"Good," Dia grinned, "Now hurry up and go get my date! I'll be waiting!" And with that the archer ran into the ballroom to help with setting up the ballroom.
"…Date?" Cody asked, turning to Ruby.
"I thought she was going solo," Ruby said in confusion.
"She was until yesterday," Ren said as he walked by with a box in his hands, "Apparently Baltazar hooked her up with one of his old friends and she's really excited for it."
"Really?" Ruby looked at the magenta eyed teen in surprise.
"Yup, and you two have to go and meet them right now," Yang said as she appeared behind the young pair and hoisted them to her shoulders like sacks of potatoes.
"Yang! Let us down!" Cody and Ruby shouted as they helplessly struggled against the strong blonde's grip.
"Nope," Yang grinned as she ran to the school's airship docks, "This is a perfect chance to get away with miss bossy britches over there for a while and I'm not letting it, or you two, go."
"Yang!" The young pair whined, ceasing their struggle, when the blonde stopped at their destination and not so gently dropped her load to the ground.
"Ow…why did you do that," Ruby cried as she rubbed her bottom.
"I'm standing on my face…and it hurts more than I thought." Cody's muffled voice called out from his face down position on the ground.
"Oh quit being a couple of babies and get up," Yang sighed as she placed her hands on her hips, "Seriously, you two are supposed to be Grimm fighting warriors with high-tech weapons of mass of destruction. How are you two going to be like that if you can't handle a little fall?"
"Maybe it's because they didn't have their own landing strategy," A feminine voice giggled and Yang grinned as she saw Baltazar's old friends Kira, Chrona and Aiuto from Forjador City and Atlas.
"Hey guys! Welcome to Bea-ACK!" Yang greeted the newcomers before she was grabbed by the scarf by an angry Weiss with an apologetic Baltazar behind her.
"What in the world are you doing here?" Weiss glared as she pulled the blonde back closer to her, "You're supposed to be doing your job, not Ruby and her boyfriend's job!"
"Not a couple…" Cody and Ruby sighed as the got up, somewhat use to that accusation by now.
"Sorry, Yang, but you have to come with us," Baltazar apologized, "You don't want to make things worse for yourself than it already is don't you?"
"What could possibly be worse than a being choked by my teammate with my own scarf?" Yang screamed as soon as Weiss let her go.
"I could've turned you into a frozen statue and hang you from the ceiling like an ornate decoration," Weiss replied calmly with a bit of an icy tone in her voice.
"Like you did with Aiuto after the campout before he had to go back to Atlas?" Kira asked as she pointed to her older friend, who began to shiver uncontrollably.
"Exactly," Weiss nodded with a smirk, scaring Yang slightly, "Now let's get going, unless you want to help in other means."
"No ma'am, I'm good," Yang answered quickly as she rushed back to the ballroom.
"Huh…and here I thought I was the only one who can scare her," Baltazar mused.
"Baltazar, you can scare anyone when you're really angry, even the Grimm," Chrona pointed out, with everyone in the loading docks nodding in agreement, even some of the Beacon students who were welcoming other guests.
"I'm that scary?" Baltazar asked and received multiple nods of agreement, "Wow…that's both awesome and depressing at the same time."
"You may be scary, but you're still as soft as a marshmallow and you know it," Weiss sighed with a small smile as she began dragging her boyfriend back to the ballroom and turned to her old friends, "It's nice to see you all again but we have to finish preparing for the ball. We'll see you when we're done, ok?"
"Ok! See you guys later," Kira grinned as she waved her friends goodbye before turning to Aiuto, "Hey, go and follow them! They're heading to the ballroom, right? That's where your date is!"
"You're Dia's date, Aiuto?" Cody asked in surprise.
"Yeah, your brother hooked us up when I told him that I was coming over and bringing Chrona and Kira with me," Aiuto confirmed as he began running to catch up to his old friends. "I better go with him and Weiss to see her. Catch you all later!"
"Later!" Ruby and the others waved when a sudden thought came to her mind and turned to the strawberry blonde glyph swordsman, "Hey Chrona, mind if I ask you something?"
-Next Day, Mid-Morning, Beacon Class Hall-
"Uh…H-Hi Levy," Chrona greeted the young medic, who was wearing a lavender chef's hat and matching apron.
"Oh hey Chrona!" Levy beamed, happy to see her friend from her home town once more, "How have you been?"
"Oh…uh, o-ok I guess," Chrona laughed sheepishly, "L-Listen, I…wanted to a-ask you s-something."
"Are you going to ask me to the Valentine's Ball?" Levy asked, surprising the Dust swordsman.
"What? H-How did you know?" Chrona questioned with wide eyes.
"I've been getting requests for going to the dance since my temporary class started, so I thought you'd be asking for the same thing," Levy explained, a smile still on her face.
"And you said no to every one of them, didn't you," Chrona guessed, "Well…then I guess I'll just-"
"Wait Chrona," Levy called out and grabbed the timid boy's hand. "I'm going to be busy early in the dance because of the performance we have to put, but when I have time, I'd like to spend time with you."
"Really? You mean it?" Chrona asked in surprise.
"Of course," Levy beamed once more, "You're a nice guy and a great friend, not to mention a skilled huntsman-in-training. Besides, I always thought you were cute," The medic then gave the timid swordsman a kiss on the cheek, "I have to get ready for my cooking class. I'll see you when I'm done, ok?"
"Uh huh," The dumbstruck teen nodded, his brain shut down after the kiss, causing his date to giggle.
"I'll be waiting," Levy smiled and waved her friend goodbye.
"Uh huh," Chrona repeated as he watched Levy leave, and showed no response when his date's leader suddenly appeared behind him with another blonde swordsman, who had a white chef's hat and apron on.
"Wow…so you finally asked Levy out," Baltazar smiled and placed his hand on his old friend's shoulder. "I remember when you had a hard time deciding who you liked more between her and Kira, and I'm happy you made a decision."
"Uh huh."
"And a good one at that," Jaune agreed, "Levy's a great girl and I'm sure you'll have a great time with her.
"Uh huh."
"…I think his brain's broken," Jaune said in amusement as he poked Chrona's head.
"I got it," Baltazar snickered before whispering something into his old friend's ear.
"What!" Chrona jumped and scampered away from the two leaders, "No way! I'm not going to try Weiss's Valentine's chocolates again! You know how horrible they are! I don't want to die yet!"
"I'm sorry but I think I heard wrong. My Valentine's chocolates are what now?" A cold voice said behind Chrona, and the frightened teen turned his head slowly to see a very angry Weiss standing behind him, cracking her knuckles and eyes glowing a demonic red.
"Well it looks like Levy's all set now…if Big Sis doesn't kill him first," Cody laughed as he saw Weiss chasing Chrona around the halls. "Now that that's taken care of, should we try and find someone for Kira?"
"Taken care of," Ruby grinned beside him and pointed to the entrance of Levy's cooking class, where Kira was happily chatting with a Wolf Faunus, who seemed quite happy himself if his tail was anything to go by.
"Wow you work fast," Cody chuckled.
"Yup," Ruby nodded, "Now every one of my friends has a date…now all that's left is to get Yang a date. How hard can that be?"
-Valentine's Day, Evening, Beacon Ballroom-
"Oh…I can't believe that I couldn't find a date for Yang," Ruby groaned as she sat down, wearing a red sequins dress and a small rose on her head, the song 'I Burn' being played in the background by Team BLAD plus Weiss and Blake.
"Eh, you can't win them all, Rubes," Cody shrugged as he handed her a drink. The black haired boy was wearing a cobalt blue suit and had a pair of sunglasses perched on his head.
"But I managed to get dates for every friend I had!" Ruby complained as she accepted the drink, "I even managed to hook Penny up at the last minute! Do you know how hard it was to accomplish that?"
"You tricked that Cardin guy to ask her out, I don't think it was a hard thing to do," Cody said before turning his attention to the dance floor and laughed, "And I got to say, that was your best paring yet."
Ruby turned her head to the dance floor as well and laughed when Penny, who was still in her regular clothes, accidentally stepped on a tuxedo wearing Cardin once more, causing him to hop on one foot and blow air into his other foot in order to cool down the pain.
"You have a point, but it still sucks that I couldn't find someone for Yang," Ruby sighed as she finished her drink, "I mean, sure she said she wanted to go alone, but everyone has to have someone they're interested in, right?"
"It's possible, Rubes," Cody shrugged as he set his drink aside, unsure of what to say to his best friend, and decided to change the subject, "So did you ever find out what those words mean?"
"…Yeah. Penny told me," Ruby muttered while looking away from her friend with a bright blush on her face.
"Huh…didn't think she'd know about them to be honest," Cody muttered, "I'd expect you to ask your team or my brother or something."
"They got really flustered when I asked and now I know why," Ruby groaned as she hid her face with her hands.
"Yeah…I felt that way when I found out what they meant from my cousin Crystal," Cody chuckled before offering his hand to his friend, "So…wanna dance?"
"Cody…you know I can't dance too well. Not like Jaune anyways," Ruby huffed, but accepted the hand anyway.
"I don't think anyone can dance like him, Rubes," Cody said as he turned to the dance floor and saw a black suit wearing Jaune expertly dancing and impressing the crowd, his team standing by him and cheering as he continued to dance. Nora was jumping up and down in her knee length pink strapless dress while a green tuxedo wearing Ren was clapping his hands to the rhythm of the song. Pyrrha, on the other hand, had a love-struck look on her face, a small blush as red as her figure hugging dress, as she watched her boyfriend dance to his heart's content.
"Well that is true," Ruby giggled slightly as the pair walked to the dance floor. Once there, however, the song changed from the upbeat piece of 'I Burn' to the gentler piece known as 'Wings'.
"Oh…it's a slow song," Cody muttered with a light blush on his face.
"Y-Yeah…I guess it is," Ruby muttered back while rubbing her arms as she noticed everyone began holding each other and swaying to the music.
"Uh…should we still dance?" Cody asked unsurely, causing Ruby to stare at him in surprise, "I mean, Weiss did teach me a few things about slow dancing when I was young. A-And I still remember most of it."
"Y-Yeah. Yang taught me how to slow dance to a little," Ruby replied nervously, "She said it'd be good for me to know just in case and it gave her an excuse to lead in a dance."
"I'm not surprised," Cody laughed slightly as he grabbed his friend's waist while she held onto his shoulders and began dancing slowly, their blushes becoming brighter each passing moment. However, despite their embarrassment, the two couldn't keep the smiles off their faces. They were enjoying each other's company and, while they wouldn't admit it, they liked being held by one another. It's one of the reasons why Ruby hugged Cody so often, because they both liked being in contact with each other. Soon enough, the song ended and the pair separated, but still stood close to one another and shared nervous smiles when a familiar voice began speaking to the crowd.
"Ok! I hope you all enjoyed Wings everyone! It was definitely one of the best songs we had the fortune of playing," Dia grinned as she waved to the crowd, wearing a sleeveless emerald dress and her guitar on her back.
"We got one more song to play before we're done and join in on the party with you guys," Ash smiled from his position behind the drums and other percussion instruments, wearing a white tuxedo with a rose corsage.
"This is a special piece that was requested by a close friend of ours, so I hope you all will enjoy it," Levy bowed as she placed her trumpet to the ground, wearing an elegant lavender dress.
"Our friend would also like to say a few things first before we start her request," Baltazar announced, wearing a dark blue suit and holding a blue tinted flute over his shoulder, "She's a well-known first year student who hot in more ways than one. Ladies and gentlemen, the Golden Dragon of Signal: Ms. Yang Xiao Long!"
"Hey everyone!" Yang cheered as she waved to the crowd, happily flaunting her looks with her short, yellow dress.
"Well it looks like Yang's having fun," Cody muttered as he stared at the blonde party girl.
"She likes attention," Ruby sighed.
"Looks like everyone here has a special someone that they're spending this awesome holiday with," Yang grinned, "In fact, everyone here behind me is either dating or have a special date waiting for them once we're done here."
"Got that right!" Ash and Dia grinned while Levy and Baltazar nodded. Blake and Weiss agreed as well, the former wearing a figure hugging black dress, discarded her bow for the dance and her bass on her back while the latter in the same elegant dress she wore on her first date with her boyfriend and standing near her keyboard.
"I'm also aware that there's a certain someone who's been busy setting her friends up with dates in order to make her friends happy, that cute little red hooded cupid," Yang explained with a wink to her sister.
"Yang…" Ruby muttered in embarrassment, hiding behind her best friend to hide from the eyes of the other students and guests.
"She even tried to hook me up with someone, but failed miserably," Yang laughed before becoming somewhat serious, "But I think she forgot that I don't need to have someone when I have her."
"What?" Ruby whispered in surprise.
"There's more than one way to love someone Sis, you know this," Yang smiled softly, "Valentine's Day is a day to spend with your loved ones, whether they're your friends, family or significant o0thers. It doesn't matter if I didn't have a date to this dance, I still have you, our team and every one of our friends to love and spend time with." She then began to grin brightly and everyone swore they saw tears threatening to come out for a moment, "You're the most important person in the world to me, Ruby and I love you. It's sweet that you went through a lot of trouble to try and help me and our friends find someone, but next time, just take it easy and let nature take its course. After all, it already happened to half of our friends, why can't it happen to the rest of us?"
"And you guys made money off of it too if I recall," Baltazar laughed and stared at his cousin and red haired teammate, who simply laughed and smiled brightly.
"Of course," Yang nodded to her former partner before turning her attention back to the crowd, and more importantly her sister. "Well, there's still one more song that needs to play before my friends and teammates here can enjoy this dance themselves with their dates and I'm going to sing it, and what better song to play than the one I always sing to my sister to ensure her that I'll always be with her."
"Yang…are you going to sing…" Ruby muttered with wide eyes.
"Alright dudes! Let's do this!" Ash grinned as he raised his drumsticks into the air. "It's time to make some 'Gold'!"
The moment the last word left Ash's mouth Ruby gasped and tears began to form in her eyes. 'Gold' was the song that symbolized how much Yang loved her and how far she was willing to go in order to make sure she was safe and happy. It was one of Ruby's favorite songs alongside 'Red Like Roses', but this one was much more optimistic. Without knowing it herself, the young rose began slowly walking towards the stage, her best friend following closely behind. When she reached the stage, she froze as what she considered the best part of the song started.
~Don't worry, I've got you;
Nothing will ever harm you.
I'm close by, I'll stay here;
Through all things, I will be near.
Close your eyes,
Don't you cry.
Love's around you;
In time, you'll fly.~
Tears began flowing from Ruby's eyes, touched by how much her sister loved her, and once the song was over, she rushed over to Yang and gave her the tightest hug she ever gave her, who happily returned it. Cody walked up to the stage and started smiling warmly, happy for his best friend, when a pair familiar hands rested on his shoulders, and looked at both sides to see Baltazar and Weiss looking at him with smiles on their faces.
"Love is something that is shared by everyone, just as Yang said," Baltazar started, "Whether it is for friends, family or significant others."
"The love those two share with one another is something that all of us in our circle of friends always enjoy seeing, even if it is annoying at times," Weiss laughed a little, "It makes us happy to know that there are people like them that are not afraid to show how much they care about each other."
"That's right," Jaune spoke up as he and his team walked up to the stage, with Blake and the rest of team BLAD following close by. "Seeing those two so happy together and laughing always lifts our spirits and encourages us to do our best. To be honest, what we're seeing now might just be what Valentine's Day is all about."
Cody remained speechless as he took in the words of his elder hunter students. He then nodded once and turned his attention back to Ruby and Yang for a moment, before suddenly turning to Weiss and Baltazar and hugged them tightly, which the two happily returned. The others smiled at the display and also turned their attention back to the sisters.
"Happy Valentine's Day, Yang," Ruby muttered happily as she hugged her big sister closer to her, "I love you."
"Happy Valentine's Day, Ruby," Yang whispered back just as happily and kissed the top of her little sister's head, "I love you too."
Author's Notes:
Well, this is my late Valentine's gift for everyone. Once again I'm so sorry for the late update, but work and school can do that to a person. And now, for a bit of bad news. There won't be another update for BLAD of RWBY and JNPR for a bit, as I am having trouble writing down the plot for Chapter 9. However, while I was trying to find a way to write the next chapter, maybe even before then, inspiration struck me for a new story, and I'm going to be working on the first couple chapters of that before I go back to BLAD of RWBY and JNPR. My first story will be done, no lies there, but I felt like trying to write another major story to keep my mind fresh and inspired. What my next story will be is a surprise until the first few chapters are up. I hope you guys had a good Valentine's Day and I'll see you soon.
