Setting: During the events of Chapter 13 of BLAD of RWBY and JNPR.
Restful Attempts
Beacon Academy, one of the most well-known combat schools in all of Vale, is home to some very skilled and very talented students. Among them include the heiress of the Schnee Dust Company, a descendent of a war hero, a young man with the skills to take down a Grimm as fierce as the King Taijitu on his own, and even a small, honest soul that caught the eye of Beacon's very own headmaster. Currently however, there are two students of this prestigious Academy that are about to attempt to do something that they have been wanting to do for quite some time now. Who are these two students and what is it that they want.
The two students in question are Pyrrha Nikos, Sanctum Academy's star pupil and Nora Valkyrie, an explosive powerhouse who's cheerfulness is second to none. And at the moment, the one thing that these two fierce huntresses-in-training want more than anything else…
"Gah! When the heck are our boys gonna get here! They've been gone for hours!"
"I know… It's very frustrating that we can't spend time with them before the fair…"
…Is to have some quality time with their beaus, Jaune Arc and Lie Ren, before the upcoming Hunter's Fair.
"Pyrrha, no offense, but I think that boyfriend of yours can be a bit too nice sometimes." Nora whined as she jumped into her bed.
"None taken. I'm happy that he's willing to do so much to help our fellow students, but I wish he would say no every once in a while…" Pyrrha sighed as she brushed her hair. "I mean, it's only three more days before the Hunter's Fair begins and I want to spend some time with him before everything picks up full swing…"
"And I want Ren to take me out some more too! Oh…why did he have to agree to help Jaune out today?!" Nora cried out in frustration.
"Is as you said about Jaune… both of them are just too nice sometimes," The young amazon muttered. "At least we aren't the only ones among our group of friends with significant others that have to go through with this…"
"Uh…that's where you're wrong, Pyrrha," Nora spoke up as she sat up on her bed. "I actually saw Weissy and Velvet earlier today and those two ended up getting assigned tasks that keep them close to their guys more often than not."
"What! Oh come on… How is that fair?" Pyrrha groaned, taking a page from her boyfriend's book.
"It's more of a coincidence than anything, to be honest. Weissy wanted to help out with the preparations more so she won't risk failing the semester if the beauty pageant thing doesn't work out and Velvet decided to help her out. It just so happens that most of the jobs those two do are music related, so team BLAD is one of the more frequent teams that help out in that regard," Nora explained with a shrug.
"Oh…ok then," Pyrrha relented before both she and Nora heard a familiar sound coming from a Scroll on a nearby drawer.
"That's Ren!" Nora exclaimed before grabbing it and activating it's message feature. The bubbly bomber eagerly read the message sent to her before a cloud of depression appeared in her head. A few moments later she screamed in frustration and slammed her school provided tool back to the drawer, causing her teammate to look at her curiously.
"What happened?"
"They're not coming!" Nora cried out. "They just got roped into helping out with setting up for the play! They won't be coming 'till dinner!"
"WHAT! Ok, that's it!" Pyrrha shouted angrily, not caring if her neighbors heard her. "We are supposed to help out, yes, but we are also supposed to rest and relax these next few days before the fair starts and I will not be denied my precious Jaune any longer!"
"Now you're talking!" Nora exclaimed deviously. "So what're we gonna do? Break some legs? Catapult people into the Emerald Forest? Chuck them into the docks?"
"No. We need to plan this out. It's obvious that our boys won't be coming soon, so let's utilize this time to come up with some ideas to make Jaune and Ren stay with us instead of going off with no guaranteed way to keep them in our grasps. By this time tomorrow, I fully expect the two of us will have much more fun with our men than we have since we started going out with them," Pyrrha stated in a dark tone, her hands rubbing together as multiple plots began to form in her head.
"Ohoho! I like the way you think, Pyr!" Nora laughed sinisterly as she held her teammate in a one-armed hug, before she herself began planning on what to do to make sure their boys never leave their side.
-Next Day: Attempt #1, courthouse-
"Hello, Jaune!" Pyrrha greeted her leader and boyfriend cheerfully, her hands behind her back and leaning towards him with a cute smile.
"Oh hey, Pyrrha," Jaune replied happily and gave his red-haired a welcome kiss on the cheek, causing her to beam happily. "What's up? You seem pretty chipper today…"
"I'm just happy that you're not busy right now," Pyrrha admitted while grabbing Jaune's arm.
"Wow, you're being pretty affectionate today…but I'm not complaining," The blonde swordsman grinned.
*Bam!*
"Gah!"
"Jaune!"
"Holy Crap, I am so sorry!"
"Huh? Sun?" Pyrrha looked turned to the approaching Faunus while kneeling next to her downed boyfriend, confusion and concern evident in her voice with a red and gold nunchuck beside the unconscious swordsman's head.
"Oh man, I'm sorry! I didn't think anyone was here!" Sun apologized. "I was working on a new trick and I ended up losing control of my staff, Ruyi Bang and Jingu Bang." He then took notice of Jaune's condition and picked him and his weapon up, much to Pyrrha's disappointment. "Here, let me take him to the nurse's office. I know where it is, so no need to worry!"
"Oh, wait! It's fine, just let me-"
Before she could finish, Sun jumped off with the knocked-out blonde in his arms, causing her to groan in frustration.
"Of course this would happen… Nothing ever goes right the first time," The amazon sighed, "I hope Nora had better luck than I did."
-With Nora, cafeteria-
"Mmmm! Ren, these pancakes are sooo gooood!" Nora gushed as she delved into her breakfast, with her boyfriend chuckling behind her.
"Hehe, glad to know…" Ren said before sitting next down next to her. "Just so you know, we're out of syrup again. You wouldn't happen to know where it went, right?"
"Hehehe," Nora laughed sheepishly for a bit before speaking up excitedly. "Hey Ren, listen, you're not doing anything right now, right?"
"At the moment, no, but I'm pretty sure that might change pretty soo-"
"GANGWAY!"
"Huh?" "Eh?"
Hearing someone shouting, the two childhood friends turned couple looked around to the source and were surprised to see Blake's friend Sun running past them with a passed out Jaune in his arms. Concerned for his leader's wellbeing, the martial-artist apologized to his partner before rushing off to follow the Monkey Faunus.
"Wait, Ren, I-" It was too late. Both Ren and Sun disappeared towards the infirmary, leaving Nora alone in the cafeteria with only her pancakes to comfort her. That and someone else who just came in.
"Did Sun just went by here?" Pyrrha asked as she sat down next to her depressed teammate.
"Yeah, but why did he have Jaune-Jaune with him? I thought he was with you?"
"He was, but he got knocked out by Sun's weapon and he decided to be nice and take him to the infirmary in my stead, although I wish he didn't." Pyrrha pouted, causing Nora to pat her shoulder in sympathy.
"Oh well, looks like getting them alone by ourselves didn't work… Let's try plan B?" Nora suggested.
"Plan B: Getting the other to make our boys spend time with us. Let's do it," Pyrrha agreed with a firm nod before becoming sheepish, "Uh…after Jaune's all better first."
"Right!"
-Attempt #2, Infirmary-
"Hi there, Jaune-Jaune! How're ya feelin'?" Nora asked cheerfully as she walked into the nurse's office.
"Much better now that Levy and Professor Incense fixed me up," Jaune admitted as he got up from the bed he was resting on. "Sun already apologized too, so no worries there."
"Awesome!" Nora beamed before leaning forward, "Sooo…any plans with your special lady today? You have been neglecting her lately."
"I know…" Jaune sighed as he scratched the back of his neck, "It's just…well, everyone's been so busy lately and I…I dunno, I just want to help them out, ya know? Ren's making sure that I don't overexert myself, so I'm grateful for that, but I'm surprised that you and Pyrrha aren't doing anything to help."
"Oh we help out, just not to the extent that you two do. I swear, it's like you're a living saint or something with how often you're willing to help others out and all that jazz…" Nora admitted in an exasperated tone, causing Jaune to smile sheepishly at her.
"Yeah, but at least-"
"Jaune!"
"Huh?" "What?"
"Jaune quick you have to come with us!" Velvet exclaimed as she and her teammates entered into the infirmary.
"Why? What's going on?"
"One of the giant baby cradles you made for the auction broke thanks to one of those idiots in CRDL, Arc. We want to see if you can either fix it or make another one before the Fair begins." Coco explained with her arms crossed.
"We have an auction?" Nora questioned curiously.
"Yup. A lot of the artsy students here donated some of their works in order to raise the school funds for more stuff for us to play with and to improve the stage in the auditorium so that what happened in midterms won't happen again. The auction's after the student vs student exhibition on the third day and we're in charge of it," Fox explained.
"A lot of your friends have actually donated some of their works for the auction, Miss. Nora, including the sisters of RWBY, the boys in your team, and the cousins in BLAD. I myself had placed some of my crafts up for bidding also." Yatsuhashi admitted with a small smile.
"We can talk about this later. Arc, you're coming with us!" Coco ordered before grabbing the blonde leader by the hood and dragged the protesting swordsman away, her teammates following close by. Nora said nothing as she watched her leader get taken away by team CFVY, her mind still on other matters.
"Huh… maybe I should put something up for auction, too. Better ask Pyr about it…"
-With Pyrrha, Dormitory roof-
"Thanks for checking on Jaune, Ren. I appreciate it," Pyrrha said with a kind smile while walking up to her gunblade wielding teammate.
"Think nothing of it, Pyrrha. Always happy to help my leader." Ren nodded with a small smile.
"Good to know," Pyrrha nodded before she heard her Scroll go off. Activating it, she read the message on it and her eyebrow quirked in confusion. "…We have an auction?"
"Oh you didn't know? It's more of a fundraiser than anything, but Jaune and I entered in some things we made to help out. I entered a small collection of oil-paints I made before coming here and Jaune entered a few wooden cradles he made after Ash told Velvet about the time you guys tried to get me to sleep a few months back." Ren explained, his tone turning bitter towards the end.
"You catapulted Ash into the Emerald Forest after that, didn't you?" Pyrrha asked dryly, well aware that her fellow Sanctum graduate would've definitely suffered if he brought up that day near Ren again.
"Yup," The magenta eyed teen nodded without a hint of remorse.
"I thought so," Pyrrha giggled, "So, do you want to head down with me? I'm sure you want to spend more time with Nora before we have to get ready for the fair ourselves, right?"
"Hm. I'd like-"
"Ren!"
"Blake?" Ren questioned as the cat kunoichi appeared beside him, unaware of his teammate's growing ire, "What's the matter?"
"There are some problems with the practice drones over at the combat quarters. Ruby and Baltazar are there with some of the other students trying to fix it and they mentioned that you were good with machines," Blake explained.
"I do have some experience with them, but I don't think I'll be much help. I'll do what I can, though," Ren admitted before turning to Pyrrha. "We might need your help with this, Pyrrha. Your semblance can help subdue the drones so we can deduce the problem."
"I understand. I'll meet up with you as soon as I can. I just need to send a message to Nora," Pyrrha replied calmly, barely able to hide her annoyance.
"Ok, and tell Nora that I'm sorry, ok? I'll see you in a bit," Ren asked in an apologetic tone before he and Blake rushed down the stairs, leaving Pyrrha to let out a cry in disappointment.
"Great! Another attempt failed…" The amazon groaned before she began writing her message. "Looks like we're gonna have to resort to Plan C. Hopefully double teaming will end in a much better result…"
-Attempt #3, Auditorium-
"I can't believe you actually put up your macaroni statue of Sargent Johnson up for auction, Nora. Do you really think that people would actually buy it?" Ren questioned her girlfriend, wondering why she would put up an edible effigy of one of her and Jaune's favorite videogame characters up for sale.
"My art needs to be seen and respected," Nora replied with a prideful tone in her voice.
"No, Nora. The other's art needs to be seen. Your art needs to be covered in cheese and eaten. I like Johnson and all, but putting up your statue of him is not a good way of honoring him," Jaune spoke up, causing the grenadier to glare at him.
"I'm glad that the four of us are finally hanging out now. Even if does end up like this…" Pyrrha thought happily as she held Jaune's arm lovingly, not caring that he and Nora were in an argument about videogames at the moment.
"No way, Jaune-Jaune! 4 is much more awesome than Reach!"
"How can you say that? Everyone knows that Reach is better than 4!"
"Oh really? Well I bet-"
*Beep-Beep!*
"I say! Someone please stop this thing!"
"GUYS, MOVE!"
Everyone in the auditorium began scrambling onto the seats as Professor Port suddenly appeared in a very intricate looking red and blue four-wheeler with Ruby and Cody chasing after the wayward instructor. The portly teacher was driving out of control, spinning wildly and even jumping at times like an angry bull, before it crashed into the stage.
"NO! NOT PETAL STORM!" The two yongsters cried out in fear before rushing to the sight of the crash, the other students.
"Oh dear… That was…quite something else…" Peter groaned.
"Professor! Are you alright?" Pyrrha asked in concern.
"I'm fine, Ms. Nikos. 'Tis but a flesh wound," The mustached professor replied with a thumbs up.
*Crack*
…Before his arm creaked in an awkward angle, causing everyone to wince at the sight and the cracking sound it made.
"Oooh. That's gonna feel sore in the morning," Cardin muttered.
"Indeed it will, Mr. Winchester," Peter muttered out. "Can someone please direct me to the infirmary? I fear I need to spend the majority of the day there."
"The nurses are on their way, Peter. Just wait for a moment," Glynda stated as she walked up to the wreckage, "Now, can anyone tell me what happened that caused something like this?"
"I can, ma'am!" Penny spoke up as she rushed up to the blonde professor. "You see, my friend Cody showed up earlier today with that vehicle Mr. Peter was riding. Both he and my friend Ruby had upgraded it from an ordinary all-terrain vehicle while they were in Signal and they wanted to try it out here in Beacon. It was then that Mr. Peter arrived and asked if he could sit on it, claiming that he's ridden on a hundred of them in his youth. Unfortunately the vehicle went out of control shortly after the professor turned it on by accident, resulting in what you see before you."
"I see. Thank you for that, young lady," Glynda said with a slight nod before turning to the students near the stage. "Alright, students, I will be calling in some of our repair staff to fix the stage. Until then, however, I will need all of you to help remove the destroyed vehicle from the premises and dispose of it properly." She then turned to Ruby and Cody, who were crying in each other's arms at the moment. "I don't believe the owners of said vehicle are able to do it themselves at the moment."
"WHY?! WHY DID IT HAVE TO END LIKE THIS?!" Cody cried out in depression, hugging Ruby tightly.
"SHE HAD SO MUCH TO LIVE FOR! WHY MUST THE GOOD DIE YOUNG?!" Ruby bawled, weeping heavily in Cody's shoulders.
"…" Team JNPR stared at each other in disbelief for a moment before sighing slightly.
"Well, time to get to work," Jaune muttered.
"And here I was hoping we can relax for a bit," Ren groaned tiredly.
"You two would have more time to relax if Jaune-Jaune would say no every once in a while," Nora pouted.
"Even Plan C failed," Pyrrha mumbled to herself before sighing. "Well…looks like it's up to Plan D. This last plan has to work. I'm sure of it."
-Attempt #4, Downtown Vale-
"So let me get this straight," Yang began, looking at Nora and Pyrrha curiously while Jaune and Ren were staring at the festive designs throughout the city behind her, "You two want me to convince Vomit-Boy and the Renster to spend time with you and make sure that no one interrupts the four of you from either hanging out or going on a double date because all your other attempts ended up getting blown over by a series of unfortunate events that involved Sun, team CFVY, Blake, and even Port, my sister and her boyfriend… Did I get that right?"
"Yes, Yang. And we would really appreciate it if you-"
"Say no more, my red haired battle buddy," Yang interrupted with her arm up. "Just have Jaune make me some of his family's special Supreme Arc Pizza after this is all over and we're even, ok?"
"Works for me!" Nora grinned while Pyrrha nodded in agreement.
"Got it!" Yang grinned back before turning to the remaining members of JNPR, "Hey boys! Get over here!"
"What's up, Yang?" Jaune asked as he and Ren walked up to the blonde brawler.
"Nothing much, Vomit-Boy. Just here to tell you two to hang out with your girlfriends for the day, because those two really want to be with you right now and I've noticed that you've been neglecting them lately." Yang explained, smirking at the guilty expressions on the boy's faces while ignoring the dark look she was getting from Pyrrha.
"Yeah, we're really sorry about that. I just…can't say no to anyone who needs help," Jaune admitted.
"And I wanted to make sure Jaune doesn't work himself too hard with his constant aiding of others, although that somehow ended up with me helping people just as much as he was," Ren shrugged.
"Right, right," Yang nodded, "Now, why don't you two have some fun with your girls ok? I'm just gonna-"
"Hey guys! Can I get your help with something?" A pleading voice cried out, causing the girls of JNPR to flinch in annoyance while Yang began to smirk again.
"No worries, you two. I got this." Yang assured before turning to the source of the pleading voice. "Alright! Who's the one that-"
"Oh Yang! You're here too!" Levy exclaimed as she jogged up to her friends happily, a couple of grocery bags in her hands. "Perfect! I need some help making dinner for everyone and I'd really appreciate it if you guys come with me!"
"You're making dinner?" Jaune spoke up, unaware of the silent protests the females of his team were giving, "We'd be happy to he-"
"Hold on, Jaune. Aren't you supposed to be relaxing with your beau and teammates right now? I don't think you should be doing anymore helping for today," Yang said sternly.
"Oh…you guys are busy…?" Levy questioned in a soft tone, but everyone caught the touch of sadness in it. "I…it's fine if you guys can't help. I can do it on my own."
"Uh…if you don't mind me asking…what were you going to make for dinner? Isn't it a bit early to start making it?" Ren asked reluctantly, causing the girls to look at him in disbelief.
"Ta…Tamales, just don't tell anyone about them. My family only makes them on special occasions and I need to start them early so they'll be ready in time. And…since the festival is almost here and…and so is the end of the semester…I…I thought…I could surprise everyone with…" Levy trailed off, looking at her groceries sadly while Yang let off a frustrated sigh.
"Ugh…Give us a minute, will you Levy?" Yang asked before pushing team JNPR away, causing the lavender medic to stare at them curiously.
"H-Hey! Yang? What are-"
"We have to help her."
"What?" Pyrrha and Nora hissed, while Jaune and Ren looked at their girls in surprised.
"Do you two have any idea how long it takes to make tamales by yourself?" Yang stressed. "I helped Leti make some a couple times when I visited and let me tell you, those things take a long time to make and cook right! If we let Levy do this on her own, she's probably gonna be doing it 'till late evening! You want her to go through all that?"
"But why us? Can't she get her team or even your team to help?" Nora questioned.
"She just said she wanted to surprise everyone with them and told us not to tell anyone, did you not hear her? Trust me guys, making those tamales takes a long time, even for just a few of them, but they're definitely worth the trouble! We gotta help her!" Yang repeated with a stern voice.
"Are her tamales really that good?" Pyrrha asked.
"From what I understand, they're supposed to be amazing," Jaune spoke up. "We were having a discussion one time about our favorite foods during one of our poker games a while back and Baltazar confessed that while he loves pizza, his mother's family recipe for tamales will always be number one in his heart, and that Levy's tamales are the best of them all."
"I've never seen anyone droll so much when talking about food before Baltazar. If we thought his enchiladas were good, then Levy's tamales must be on a whole other level." Ren said.
The girls of JNPR stared at each other unsurely, not knowing what to say. They turned to Ren and Jaune, then at Yang, before finally focusing on Levy, and flinched when they saw the depressed expression on her face before it disappeared when the medic saw them, giving a small smile and a slight wave to the pair. Seeing that, the girls turned to one another and nodded slightly before focusing on Yang and let off reluctant sighs.
"Ok, we'll do it." Pyrrha spoke up.
"Awesome!" Yang cheered before turning to Levy, "Alright, Levy! Change of plans! We're gonna help you make tamales!"
"Really! That's so great! Thank you all so much!" Levy exclaimed, bouncing in happiness and causing the others to laugh.
"I swear, she's just as innocent as Ruby sometimes," Jaune chuckled.
"Well, I guess we know what our plans are now. I just hope this doesn't take too long," Pyrrha said softly with a small smile.
-Evening, Cafeteria-
"I shouldn't have said anything," Pyrrha groaned as she and Nora held their heads down in disappointment.
"I didn't know tamales were so hard to make! Or took so long to cook!" Nora whined.
"And I didn't think you'd actually eat a raw tamal before Levy was ready to put them in the pot. If you get sick after this, Nora, I'll laugh," Yang stated, sitting across from the depressed girls.
"I thought they were ready! It was still good though…" Nora pouted.
"It was still risky for you to eat them like that though, Nora. Do you have any idea the dangers you might face if you ate more raw meat like that?" Levy questioned in a stern tone.
"Nope! And I don't plan to. All that medical mumbo-jumbo just goes in one ear and out the other anyways," The grenadier grinned, much to Levy's disapproval.
"Nora…"
"Just relax, Levy. There's no getting through to her. Trust me." Ren sighed as he and Jaune exited the kitchen.
"Oh hey guys! Is the food ready?" Nora asked pleadingly, with Pyrrha staring at them hopefully as well.
"Not yet, but I'm sure we got some time before they're done to go out if we can," Jaune suggested while looking at Levy.
"Oh of course! Yang and I can handle the rest just fine. You guys go out now. We'll let you know when the food's done." The medic smiled as the blonde brawler began to shoo them away with a happy grin.
"Thanks, Levy. We really appreciate-"
"Guys!" Weiss cried out as she and the rest of her team ran in. "So glad I found you. Listen, I need to borrow Ren for a moment to work on a glyph spell I just learned. Is that ok?"
"Uh, I don't know if-"
"Excuse me!" Velvet exclaimed with the other members of her team behind her. "I'm sorry to trouble you again, but the cradles got damaged again, this time by Professor Port, and we need Jaune to fix them once more."
"Hold on Velvet, can we-"
"Dudes!" Ash shouted with Dia panting beside him, "I'm sorry, but one of the pieces from Rosie and the Cub's four-wheeler is stuck on one of the monitors and we can't get it out. We need Nicky to use her semblance to get it out!"
"Wait a second, Ash, I-"
"Valkyrie!" Cardin screamed with his team huddling behind him. "You need to come with us! Professor Peach has some new drones he wants to test and he needs students that cause high impact damage! Let's go!"
"Nu-uh, Cardin! Can't you see that I'm-"
Unfortunately, neither Nora nor Pyrrha were able to get a word in as their fellow classmate began asking them and their partners for favors. The girls kept trying to speak up, but were constantly getting interrupted, furthering their frustration.
"C'mon Ren! We have to go!"
"Jaune! Please help us!"
"Nicky, let's get going!"
"Hurry up, Valkyrie, we don't have all day!"
"Ren!"
"Jaune!"
"Nicky!"
"Valkyrie!"
"ENOUGH!"
*Bang!* *Boom!*
Everyone was stunned silent when the Pyrrha and Nora shouted together, even more so when they brought out their weapons and shot the ceiling above them.
"We are tired of you guys interrupting us all day!" Nora screamed.
"We just want to spend some time with our boyfriends without anyone interrupting us! Is that so much to ask?" Pyrrha questioned loudly.
"But what about-"
"SHUT IT!" The girls bellowed at Cardin, causing him to whimper and hide behind his team.
"Now you listen and listen well. All of you!" Pyrrha announced, "The two of us are going to take Jaune and Ren out to the docks, where the four of us will spend a romantic time there where no one will bother us, interrupt us, or anything of the like until dinner is ready."
"We may be late for the food, but there better be some left when we get here! We had to help make it and, damn it all, we deserve it for what we had to put through today!" Nora shouted.
"If any of you have any objections to it, please take it up to Magnhild and Miló. I'm sure they will be more than happy to answer any questions you may have…" Pyrrha finished in a sweet tone while she and Nora brought out their rifle and grenade launcher, causing the others to flinch.
"Uh, nope! No! We're good! Right guys?" Ruby questioned nervously while turning to the others, who began nodding their heads frantically in agreement.
"Excellent," The amazon grinned while she and the grenadier held their weapons over their shoulders and gripped their respective boyfriend's arms tightly, causing them to flinch in pain. "Now, if you guys don't mind, we'll just take our-"
"Hey Pyrrha! Nora! I got-"
"GRAAH!" "THAT'S IT!"
"Whoa wait! What are you-"
*Bang! Bang! Bang!* *Boom! Boom!*
Without warning and without mercy, the two angry females let out their frustrations on the one who spoke to them, not caring who it was, while the others simply gaped at the sight. As soon as the girls calmed down and the smoked settled, many were surprised by who it was that received the full fury of the girls.
"Uh…Does this mean…you want to return…your orders…? *Cough*" Baltazar questioned, his body completely black with spots of red on him, his glasses cracked and tears all throughout his clothes, his outstretched hands holding a couple of surprisingly unscathed boxes with the Azul stripped lightning bolt symbol on them.
"Oh! Pyr! Our orders are here!" Nora beamed before she rushed over and grabbed the boxes out of the stunned lightning ninja's hands. "Thanks Balty!"
"Don't mention it," Baltazar groaned out. "Now, if you don't mind, I think I'm going to stop standing now…"
*Thud*
"Uh… Girls?" Ren spoke up softly and warily, giving a slight glance at his fallen friend before speaking once more. "If you don't mind me asking… What did you two order?"
"Paint bomb rounds for me and a small set of Polarity Lock knives for Pyr, straight from Azure Armory Inc. and made by the company owner himself! Cost a lot, but it was worth it!" Nora beamed.
"I wanted to try my hand in knife handling for a while now and I wanted to make sure that I have a set that only I can use," Pyrrha admitted with a shrug.
"Uh…ok then…" Jaune said slowly before focusing on the downed ninja. "You alright there, Baltazar?"
"Would you believe me…if I said…that I been through…worse?" Baltazar's muffled voice muttered out from his face down position, causing the blonde to look at him in shock. "I'm a forger…who makes explosives…remember? It's an…occupational…hazard…"
"He's gonna be fine, don't worry about it!" Nora smiled reassuringly before she and Pyrrha grabbed the boys' arms. "Now let's go! I wanna have some fun until dinner's done!"
"I agree. Let's get going," Pyrrha nodded before turning to Levy. "Be sure to let us know when your tamales are done, Levy!"
"Uh…sure Pyrrha. I'll let you know…hehe…" Levy laughed pathetically, waving slowly as team JNPR left the cafeteria.
"Well…that was a thing," Russle droned out.
"Indeed," Velvet nodded before turning to the charred Faunus on the floor. "So… are you going to be ok, Baltazar?"
"I can't feel my torso…"
"Uh…I'll take him to the nurse's office. Don't wait up," Weiss spoke up before she bent down and hoisted her own boyfriend onto her shoulder.
"My body…is trying to die …"
"See you guys later, and save some tamales for us too," The heiress requested before a speed glyph appeared below her, allowing her and her tag-along to disappear in a white blur.
Everyone simply stood where they were, unsure of what to do or say, until one tired groan was heard.
"Ah, screw it. I'm done." Cardin proclaimed before he and his team sat down, causing the others to do the same.
"I agree. Maybe it's best that we follow JNPR's example and just relax until tomorrow," Velvet sighed.
"But what about the tasks you guys-"
"The others can deal with them themselves, Levy. Besides, none of us wish to end up like your cousin did just now." Blake pointed out.
"Just let it go, Levy… How about we go check on those tamales of yours. Chief did say that they're supposed to be the best thing in the world… if you're not a vegetarian or anything." Dia suggested while putting an arm around her teammate.
"I guess," Levy sighed before the pair walked into the kitchen with Yang following close by, the blonde brawler giving everyone a small wave before she was out of sight.
"Man… It's been a long time since I've seen Nicky like that. Last time I saw her that pissed off, she ended up using not only an army of Grimm, but even the entire class as her personal punching bags during a trip to Forever Fall, me included." Ash stated with a shudder.
"And how long did you last?" Coco asked curiously.
"Eh, ten seconds. Give or take…" The redhead shrugged, causing everyone to gape at him, "Before that incident, she already got herself a few nicknames because of her skills; The Queen of Sanctum, The Invincible Girl, but after what happened in Forever Fall, she received her most terrifying one yet."
"And… what is that last title?" Dove questioned nervously.
Ash's face turned traumatized before slowly speaking out the last title his fellow Sanctum Graduate obtained.
"Forever Fall's Demonic Amazon…"
-With team JNPR, Downtown Vale docks-
*Achoo!*
"Gesundheit."
"Thanks, Jaune," Pyrrha smiled as she kissed her boyfriend on the lips before resting her head on his chest and began watching the ocean with the rest of her team.
"Why'd you sneeze, Pyr? You didn't do anything that'll get you sick today," Nora asked from her position on Ren's lap.
"I've heard that if you sneeze, someone must be talking about in some way. It's a fairly common myth where I'm from." Ren spoke up.
"Hmm, I wonder what people would say to make you sneeze like that, Pyrrha…" Jaune muttered softly.
"I don't know… maybe Ash told the others of my escapade during a class trip to Forever Fall during our third year of Sanctum," Pyrrha thought out loud with a shrug.
"And…? What happened then?" Jaune questioned slowly, he and the others slowly becoming unnerved by the slightly sinister smile on her face.
"Teehee. Nothing you need to worry about, Jaune."
Author's Note:
Again, I'm surprised by how fast I managed to write this little one shot. Only three days, just like chapter 3 of BLAD of RWBY and JNPR…only nowhere near as long. I got to say, I had fun writing a chapter that didn't focus too much on my O.C.s. My best bud suggested I'd do more of these, and I definitely should. The next addition of Life at Beacon will come relatively soon, actually. Mainly because it was something that I've been looking forward to writing for a while now, actually. Also, the tamal bit with Nora, that was an actual thing that happened to me a while back, but I didn't get sick after I ate it. Guess I got off lucky.
Now, for a bit of more somber news. Yesterday, at around this time, one of my favorite high school teachers passed away from cardiac arrest, and the poor man was only in his forties. Everyone who knew him was devastated for that lost, including my brother and I, since we had his classes as well before we graduated. The man was both a football coach and one of the school's science teachers, and one of the first teachers I had when I moved from my California to Wyoming. He was a fantastic teacher and a great man. I'm honestly planning on creating an O.C. in memory of him to add in for a future story. Coach… thank you for all the hard work you've done in your life and I pray that you watch over your family and the students you've helped out immensely during your time in the land of the living. Goodbye Coach, and take care. Also, say hi to my grandpa for me, will you? I can tell you two are gonna get along just fine up there.
