Weiss stood there, her wondering why Ozpin would ask her a question at a time like this.
"No. Why?"
Ozpin simply walked away, his cane tapping on the stone of the courtyard's path.
"Ever since men have walked the surface of Remnant, they had legends of man who can change their form under the influence of the moon. They went through many names as well. Skinwalkers, Lycanthropes. But many call them Werewolves. During the day, they look like you or I, but at night under the moon, they change."
Weiss was simply at a loss of words. How could a man or woman change their form to resemble a beast? True, Weiss had seen her mentor due a similar trick when they first met, but that was a large bat. This was completely different.
"We need to lure the beast away from the school and hold it off till sunrise."
"What? Why?" Weiss wondered.
"The Mistletoe I gave them would only work for a short period of time. It will work up its courage and then attack the students. When the sun rises, we will find out who it is."
Weiss thought about Ruby. She was no were to be found and she could be in very great danger. Was it possible that Ruby was a…
'No, that's impossible.' Weiss thought to herself. It did not seem like a possibility that Ruby was a monster.
"What are you suggesting we do Ozpin?"
"We need to lure it into the Emerald Forest and keep it there. And it just so happens I have a plan."
"What is it?"
Ozpin simply raised his eyebrow and handed an ear piece. He gave a coy smile.
"Do you remember your landing strategy?"
Weiss thought it was crazy. Ozpin had a plan that involved using the launch pads to fling both Weiss and the wolf into the forest. Weiss would have to simply get both her and the creature there all the while without losing its interest or being torn apart.
Yup. Sounds sane enough.
Weiss quickly eyed the clock on the wall and noticed the time.
4:00 A.M.
Weiss would have to distract and lure the beast further into the woods for two hours. Any normal person would likely be driven insane by the lack of sleep. Fortunately, Weiss was no ordinary person.
Weiss quickly looked around the corner and noticed the werewolf, sniffing the ground in search of prey. Weiss realized that she was only two minutes away from the launch pads. There was an extra large one, capable of launching four people at once, or in this case, one vampire and a crazed monster. All Weiss had to do was give Ozpin the signal.
Weiss stepped from the corner.
"Hey, Fleabag!"
The wolf turned, its emerald eyes burning with hate. She defiantly had its attention now.
'Run!' Weiss screamed to herself mentally as she took off faster than a bullet leaving a gun.
As she ran, she heard heavy panting and growling coming from behind her, Weiss knew that if she failed to keep it away from the school, her teammates or even Ruby would be in danger. At points in the chase, the beast barely managed to bite at her, but missed every time. Soon, the cliffs overlooking the forest came into view rather quickly as she made she way to the large pad at the very end of the cliff. The beast was only thirty feet and closing.
'3…2…'
"Now!" Weiss shouted into the earpiece as she felt her feet leave the ground.
Now shoring through the air, Weiss looked around and saw the wolf failing madly as it fell into the dark trees below. Weiss simply materialized glyph after glyph to descend down. Soon enough, she found her way to the forest below. As she landed she heard painful whimpering. Weiss approached the source of the sound and the site almost made her stomach turn.
The beast had attempted to land on its legs, but had no success. The legs were bent in painful angles and the whimpering the noise made was akin to a dog that had a broken paw. Weiss knew she should not but decided to approach the beast anyway. As she did, the whimpers turned into growls of anger and hate.
"It's okay. I'm not going to hurt you." Weiss said.
Soon of course she learned it was not the brightest move she made.
With just one swipe, the werewolf clawed into Weiss' shirt as she was flown into a tree by the sheer force of the strike. Weiss noticed that the sounds became muffled and she was disoriented. As she sat there, she noticed two things. One, the wound in her chest was already closing up. The open sores, which would've easily needed stitches, were closing up. Two, the werewolf was getting back up. Its legs were somehow resetting themselves. Weiss knew she needed to make a break for it. As she ran, she heard the beast howl with rage. It was on its feet once more and it had caught her scent.
Weiss ran for what felt like hours. Even though her wound had closed up, she was still in a lot of pain. She had found a cave and quickly wandered inside. As she slumped against the wall, she felt her eyelids grow heavy as fatigue took its toll.
Bad mistake.
Weiss soon woke up to the sounds of the beast entering the cave. Weiss felt herself pinned as the beast grabbed hold of both her shoulders. As it lifted its jaws and opened them, ready to deliver the finishing blow, Weiss felt something hot hit her face.
The Sun.
Somehow, it took an hour for the creature to find Weiss in the cave, which was by no means a miracle. Weiss knew that she would have to drink blood soon as she felt famished, but quickly noticed something as well.
The werewolf had lost its grip on her. It roared in pain as it stumbled backwards to the opposite side of the cave. Weiss noticed then its form beginning to change. Its shoulders lost it broadness and became slumped once more. Its grey skin underneath its fur changed to a pale color.
'No.'
The arms and legs began to shorten and look more like actual human limbs. Weiss could hear the sounds of bone begin to crack and rearrange themselves. The tail quickly faded away and the claws turned into human nails. The roar it was giving off turned to a more high-pitched sound as its snout turned into a human mouth and nose. The ears turned back to human, but this time with a slight point to them. The final nails in the coffin were the eyes and hair. The brown hair on its head went from brown to black with red. And its eyes went from emerald to sliver.
Sitting just opposite of Weiss was a shivering Ruby Rose.
'She's the werewolf.'
"Ruby?"
Ruby looked up, tears in her eyes.
"Weiss? Where am I? Why does it hurt?" Ruby questioned as she began to cry.
Weiss quickly made her way over to her and hugged her tight. Ruby's heart was beating furiously in the chest. Weiss needed to calm her down somehow.
"Ruby, this is all a dream." Weiss said, hypnotizing Ruby. She hated to do it on her teammate, leader and girlfriend, but she had no choice.
"You need to go to sleep now, okay?"
Soon, Ruby was sound asleep in her arms. Weiss laid her down on the cave floor as she called Ozpin.
"Ozpin, Ruby's the werewolf."
"I see. Stay where you are. I am coming to get the both of you."
Weiss looked down and noticed one more thing.
Ruby was butt-naked.
Weiss quickly blushed as she looked away, never having seen Ruby's birthday suit, for the lack of a better word. Her blush was clearly visible on the paleness of her face.
"Also, bring a blanket with you."
Well, Rubys back to normal. But this had only begun for the little rose. What will become of her now? Well stick around and find out.
