Um, so I know I said a month almost a year ago, but part of it was writers block, and part of it was life. I also am leaving for Germany in a few weeks but hope to upload another chapter that I already started working on. I hope you all can forgive me.

Once again, I do not own Victorious or the characters from it. Enjoy.

Chapter 7

It was inelegant, but it was food. It was meat. That was all that mattered. When Trina emerged from behind the waterfall, her own clothes held up as high as possible when she got into the deep water, she kept her eyes trained on Cat.

The way she was hunched over listlessly by the fire, poking at the meat occasionally, it looks very bad. "Cat, you caught breakfast," she said in attempt to get some sort of dialogue going.

Cat simply nods.

The water got shallow for Trina, and she waited for her to turn her head so she could exit and put on her clothing. But Cat never glances her way. All her attention was on the fire. Trina sighs, and after taking slow steps, she exits the water, holding her clothes in front of herself to try and be modest. Cat never once turns her head to look at her, and this was worrying Trina. Trina expected some sort of comment from Cat, whether it was a joke or an insult…something.

Once Trina was completely dressed, she sat down on the opposite side of the fire, facing Cat. "Cat, what's wrong?"

"Nothing. Eat your pig." She responds very blunt and a hint of annoyance.

Trina recoiled slightly as Cat thrust a piece of steaming meat on a stick at her. Taking the stick, she held it at her side and waited for it to cool. Her stomach wasn't even really awake yet, and Cat needed much more attention than herself. "Cat…"

"It happened again, okay?!"

Trina eyebrows drew up together, trying to understand what she was talking about. "W-what do you mean it happened again? Were there more dogs?!" She asks with more worry now.

Cat just shook her head, and Trina in surprise notices a tear hit the sand at her feet. "It happened again, the memories…they are hard to understand. It's not good. It's just…Trina," she says, finally looks up at her, "I'm scared. I do not know what these memories are, but they make me feel weird and scared."

At that, Trina seemed frighten. Cat was getting her memory back? She has not once experienced any memories of her past life. Nothing. Her mind was just a blank as it has been since they woke up on this Island. And now…What if Cat got her memory back and she never did? Would she leave her behind to fend for herself? Just saying goodbye and that would be the end?

"Cat, does this mean…you're getting your memory back?" she asks, afraid to hear her response.

Cat just shakes her head. "No, just…flashes. Voices of people, things I can't remember…but I did recognize your voice…you yelled out a name; I'm trying to remember it. Jay…no that wasn't it. Jade. That's what you said, you seemed upset as you said it to me. I feel like I'm going crazy. I guess that is my actual name. Jade."

Trina smiles some. "I like it. Nice to officially know your name, Jade. I guess that is a start for you."

Sigh Jade still not looking happy, looks again at Trina. "The flash backs are giving me horrible headaches."

"Headaches? You're getting headaches? Why didn't you say something before? What if there is something seriously wrong, a concussion or…" Trina trailed off as she starts to panic but then stops as she saw the tired little smirk that Jade was giving her.

Blinking slowly, damp tracks still visible on her pale cheeks, Jade says, "Don't worry about it. I was in good enough shape to catch this pig, wasn't I? Besides, I think it is some weird side effect of whatever is causing this, amnesia." Her eyes grew in a frown. "I don't think us ending up on this Island was an accident. This seems like it was done on purpose to us."

Trina nods, as far fetch as it might have seem initially, as she thought about it makes sense and she is coming to believe that could be the truth. Unsure what to respond back; she began to eat the pig meat.

Jade turns and looks up at the rising mountain. "We have to find somewhere to make a camp or a temporary home."

"Okay, but what about the rest of the island? We don't want to stop in one place without knowing about what else is there. I mean Ca-I mean Jade, what if..?" responds Trina nervous.

Jade interrupts, "What if what? What if there is some resort just over the next hill? Or what if there is a boat washed up on a shore just waiting for us to sail away in it? Face it, we both know what there nothing but us on this island is, the only thing we can do is…"

Trina looks down at the fire in defeat. Jade was right. She did know that they wouldn't find anything on this island. No miraculous rescue, just nothing. The dogs alone should have been proof enough of that, because if there had been some sort of civilization, a resort, and those dogs would have been exterminated before anything else.

When Jade spoke again, her voice was quiet and somber. "I think we should cook more of this meat and when it's done we go look for a place to make a more…permanent home." She thins her burnt red lips making them into a white line. It was about the only way she could control her facial expression.

"Okay fine. Then later, we go." Trina voice now lacks emotion, her eyes looks tired and hopeless now. It was as if she was preparing to walk to her death.

Jade had removed a large leaf from something she thought might be a rubber plant. She wraps it around the meat she had cook, then rips the rest off of her sleeve, tore it half length-wise and used the strips to tie the bundle securely.

"We need to continue following the river. I think we are better off making camp near it, then we will work our way from there." And still, Trina couldn't muster any positive emotion. But she couldn't think of any good reason to except they were not dead.

Jade also seems to understand and was quiet herself. There was no point in fooling themselves that they might be miraculously rescued. This will make survival much harder if they depended on a rescue off the island.

Without further words, they walked into the jungle.
