A/N: Before you begin, I have to warn you there's some Silver Shadows info here-technically it's not a spoiler, but more of a….thing-that-happened-in-passing, still beware before you start reading. That said, once I'd read the thing-that-happened-that-triggered-this, this scene just came to me and refused to be unsaid, so here you go!

When Dimitri returned to the apartment, he found Rose in bed, sleeping. Kicking off his shoes and duster, he joined her there, trying to make as little noise as he could, but Rose still woke up.
"Hey", she greeted him sleepily, resting one hand on his cheek. "Welcome home"
"Hey", Dimitri smiled, turning his head to place a kiss on her palm. She shifted into him, entangling their legs together, and Dimitri took the opportunity to wrap his arms around her body. They lay together in silence, and she nuzzled his neck while he finger-combed her hair.
"So I bumped into Adrian earlier.", he added after some time.
"Oh. How is he?"
"He looked….", Dimitri paused, trying to think of an appropriate term."…disheveled."
"You mean, he was trashed.", Rose replied bluntly, opening her eyes to roll them at him. "Drunk out of his mind."
"He seemed pretty upset.", Dimitri replied, reluctant to defame him.
"Did he say something to you?", Rose asked concernedly.
"No. He got angry when I tried to talk to him and left.", Dimitri elaborated, with a sigh.
"Left?"
"Yeah, I invited him to have breakfast with me. Which reminds me, I got some donuts for you, from that shop you like. Freshly baked.", he explained, nodding towards the kitchen where he'd deposited a bag of the fresh-baked-goods.
"Thanks.", Rose replied appreciatively, leaning up to brush a kiss against his lips. Then she got serious. "Do you think he's still upset about Sydney's disappearance?". When Dimitri nodded, she sighed wearily. "I mean, we all are, you know. I was talking to Eddie the other day, and he sounded like he did after Mase.", she finished sadly. Dimitri only nodded, and squeezed her shoulder comfortingly, bringing her back from her memories.
"I wonder how Jill's doing. With Sydney missing and Adrian here, drinking his weight in alcohol. Do you think I should talk to him?", Rose asked, looking up at her boyfriend.
"Give him some time. He's obviously going through something. Sometimes I wonder…", Dimitri finished off speculatively.
"What?"
"Hmm? Nothing."
"Come on, tell me. I want to help him!", Rose said heatedly, leaning back, so she could look at him better.
"Rose.". He said one word, but as always, he managed to pack a thousand messages in it. And Rose knew him well enough to understand that he didn't want to make assumptions, that it wasn't about not trusting her but being unsure of himself, and that he didn't want to make a conjecture without any definite proof, not yet anyway.
"Okay. I won't bug you.", Rose promised. "Or him. For now. Happy?"
"I love you.", he replied appreciatively, lowering his mouth to hers.
"I know.", she replied against his lips, before getting lost in him and the sensations he was evoking in her.
"Breakfast?", she replied after some time, thinking of the donuts he had gotten her.
"How about later? I just want to lie here with you for some time.", Dimitri said, brushing a kiss against her forehead.
They had spent a lot of time apart, and in this moment, they were relaxed, so Rose thought, why not? Who knew when they'd get such a cozy morning again?
"Of course", Rose said out loud. "But, comrade? You're making me pancakes"
"With raspberry jam and butter?", he teased.
"Is there any other kind?", she scoffed mockingly.
"What do I get in return?", Dimitri asked, brushing a hand against her hip-bone.
"Me. Not burning down the kitchen", she replied proudly.
"How about I take just you, and we leave the pyrotechnics to Christian?", he asked, leaning up on his elbows to hover over her body.
"I could live with that", Rose promised, looping her hands around his body and pulling him down towards her.
So how did you like that? Do let me know. Cheers!
