Christian and Adrian had never been the very best of friends, but they got along well enough. They cared more than enough for the same select group of people, and that was reason enough for bonding. Also, while Christian was alienated from his family (and society) because of his parents' actions, Adrian was a victim to his party boy image-no one took Adrian seriously, or wanted to know the real him, as a friend. So, in a way, they were similar, and they understood one another.

Considering the amount of time they had to spend together, at parties or at council meeting and banquets or just together hanging out with the gang, you'd think that they bonded.
And they did…sort of. Though they might never be BFFs (Chris' aunt Tasha did do away with Adrian's aunt Tatiana, and while they never held it against one another, this did create a bit of awkwardness), they were close enough, and they both knew they had one another's back. They had become friends back in the academy after realizing that they both knew of Rose and Dimitri's star-crossed love story, but even at that time, they really weren't that close because Christian felt insecure of Lissa's affection towards himself, and wary of Adrian's finicky charms working on Liss.

Anyway, they started to become genuine friends, when forced to spend far too much time together in Court, in Council meetings, where Lissa requested their presences (And Rose secretly threatened the termination of their lives and various appendages, if they failed to show up for Liss, even once), and from there, it only got better, with them playing video-games and trading art-technique and cooking secrets.

Adrian liked Chris because he was very, very straightforward, almost offensively blunt at times, but also he was a fierce defender of his friends. Christian, on the other hand, liked Adrian because, despite his happy-go-luck-devil-may-care facade, Adrian was deep-down a genuinely good guy. (Also, it was kinda cool that he had an eye for art and gave Christian constant tips to improve his plating)

So, yeah the guys were buddies (even if they never really discuss their 'feelings', except with snark), and also had a bit of a bromance going on (according to Rose and Eddie), so it really should have been clear to Adrian that he should never-ever have done what he did.

"I said I'm sorry, Ozera", Adrian shouted as he ran after the angry moroi. "What do you want me to do, show up outside your door and apologize using placards?"

"Sod off, Ivashkov", Christian muttered, flipping him the bird as he walked into his refuge-the kitchen-and slammed the door close behind him.
Adrian stood there for two more moments, considering his options, before opening the door soundlessly, and slinking in, completely unaware of the three spectators watching the entire production.

"What was that about?", Lissa asked Jill, who was sitting on the couch facing her and testing a few swatches of fabrics.

"I don't know", Jill shrugged distractedly. "Chris has been in a foul mood since the morning, and Adrian has been apologizing for the last 2 hours"

"Sometimes I swear those two are more drama-queen than Rose ever was", Eddie added from where he was standing against the balcony wall.

"Don't let Rose hear you say that", Lissa warned.

"Don't worry, I like my bones well enough to not risk that", Eddie grinned cheekily. "I think I should go and see what's going on. I don't feel safe leaving Adrian in the kitchen with a pissed off Christian in the vicinity of really-sharp knives"

"That would be my preference", Jill muttered before holding up two blue swatches for Lissa's inspection. "For the sash-aqua or cerulean?"

Eddie missed her reply because he strode into the kitchen just then.

There, he found Chris and Adrian-sitting quietly-sharing a packet of Oreo with milk. "So what was the shouting match about?", he asked casually, taking a seat.

"He ate my last cookie", Christian replied darkly.

"I just got you more", Adrian protested, through a mouthful of the sugary-goodness.

Christian only hummed before popping another one in.

"So you fought because he ate your cookie?", Eddie replied, trying to digest that. Both boys nodded in sync. "I was right, more drama than Hathaway on a good day"

I'm sorry guys, for disappearing for so long, but I just….lost inspiration. I was feeling blocked and pigeonholed, but today the muse struck, and voila! So, I hope you enjoyed my offering, and don't forget to review! Cheers!
