"Mama, why are you doing this?" I looked at her with sadness in my eyes.

She was ill, getting much worse every day. I felt so useless unable to do anything.

"Only for you, Rin. I want you to be able to live happy." She said meekly with a smile.

Tears began to fall through my eyes, falling down like rain.

"It's all my fault that were like this. If only I didn't make that mistake-" She continued to cough.

"Mama! Mama!"

Mother died a year ago. It still hurts but I try not to remember too much of her because if I did, I'd cry a lot.

"Rin." I hear a familiar voice.

"Hey,wake up!" She calls me again, this time knocking on my door with fervor.

I sat up lazily as I open the door for her.

"Yeah, what's up?" I asked, rubbing away the sleepiness on my eyes.

"Do you even know what time it is? If Madam Haku sees that you're not around, she might fire you!"

"I swallowed hard. I cannot be fired again.

"Alright! Sorry, I'll be out in a sec." I quickly closed the door as I hurried to unbutton my-

Wait! Before that, I instantly observed my window, making sure that there was nobody there, not even that perverted prince to spy on me. Fortunately, there was nothing on my window. Just the closed curtains.

I sigh in relief as I start to dress up.

"Alright, Teto I'm ready." I opened the door but Teto was nowhere to be seen.

"I bet she teleported." I giggled to myself.

I walked towards the kitchen then to the dining room hoping to see the pink pig-tailed girl but to no avail. I stopped for a moment when I see an unfamiliar girl with Len right inside the living room.

Suddenly, someone pulls me away.

"Teto?" She looked angry.

"Well, its about time you got here." She said, clearly annoyed by my lateness.

"Hey, Teto." I take a small peek inside the living room. "Who's that girl with Len?"

The girl had long green pigtails and green eyes, she was wearing such a beautiful gown that matched her pretty face.

"Don't you know? That's Miss Miku, princess of The Green Kingdom."

"Gre-green?" I looked back at her. "Are all the kingdoms named after a color?"

"Duh." She said with a sigh.

"If you must know there are four kingdoms." She replied smartly.

"Four?"

"Yes, The Yellow Kingdom, famous for being wealthiest of the four." Heh, like that's true.

"The Blue Kingdom known for their refreshing personalities." That Kaito is refreshing?

"The Red Kingdom is known for their grand armies." They have more than one army?

"And the last, The Green Kingdom known for their beautiful gardens." Seriously?

"You sure know a lot." I complimented her.

Teto blushed.

"Of course, I'm not just your ordinary maid." She said proudly.

"So then, why is the princess here?"

"Fact, He and Len are childhood friends."

"Childhood friends?"

"Mhm."

Then I see Len smile which quite shocked me.

"I've never seen him smile like that before."

How could she make him smile like that? Who was this princess Miku and what kind of voodoo magic did she possess to make such a cold and evil prince like Len to smile so innocently?

As I glanced at Teto, I noticed that she was making a very odd expression as if she looked kind of jealous.

"Teto, don't tell me-" I covered my mouth in surprise.

She glared at me.

"No, it's not what you think!" She blushed and turned away. "I'm going."

I could only giggle as she walked away silently.

As I turn my attention at the two, I could almost feel myself smiling as I see Len chatting with her with such ease.

"Rin!" Oh, God.

I turned back and saw the nightmare right in front of me.

"Kaito." I frowned.

"Greetings." He smiled.

I just walked away, ignoring his presence.

"Hey! Wait!"

"Don't follow me, it's creepy."

"Why not?" He chuckled "We're friends right?"

"Friends?" I stared at him, dumbfounded.

"Or," He grew closer to me. "More than that?"

I felt my cheeks burn once again.

"Stop it!" I pushed him away. "There's no way I'll end up with you."

He grinned.

"You'll never know." He smiled with such gentle eyes, I wasn't even sure if he was joking or not.

"Stop staring at me like that, I have work to do."

"Well, I won't keep you." He grinned as he walked away. "See you around, then."

He's so annoying but there was something about him that was strangely nice. No! stop it!

"So, I'll see you sometime Len-kun." I heard a sweet girl's voice.

"Sure, Miku." Oh, it's them.

I hid behind the table, crouching hoping they wouldn't see me.

"Goodbye." Then the door closed.

"I know you're there." Len glared at me.

I stood up slowly with a guilty smile.

"She seems like a nice girl."

"Miku?"

"Yeah, she is." Len began to smile a little. Could it be that Len is in love with princess Miku? Only shock flowed through my bones.

"What's the matter?" Len asked.

"Nothing." I laughed nervously.

"Get back to work." He said as he marched up the stairs.

"Roger." I grinned.

He does really like her. I didn't know that the power of love could be this strong! It was kind of envious.

After a while, I head to the kitchen to meet with Teto.

"Teto!" I called to her.

"Rin! Just in time."

"Heh?"

"Here." She hands me a list "Go shopping."

"What?"

"Shop. For. Food." She said slowly as if I couldn't understand the first time.

"I get it." I said annoyed. "But why me? I just got here. Why can't I just clean something instead?"

"Well tough luck. You're a maid, and maids do some jobs that they don't want to and besides you haven't done anything at all."

She had a point. All I did so far was sleep in the middle of work, deliver Len breakfast and sleep again.

"Go through the back door, alright?"

"Yes, miss Teto."

As I was about to open the door, I stopped instantly as I realized that I was still wearing this girly maid uniform. It's cute and all but everyone I know is going to make fun of me if I go out looking like this. I mean talk about embarrassing and out of character!

"Hey Teto, I'm gonna change first." I ran to my room.

"What?"

I quickly undressed myself and wore my usual clothing. This time with my signature ponytail. I soon head off into town with the list on my hand and with a basket of the other. As soon as I reached the busy market, the smell of barbecue and other fried foods reached my nostrils making me drool in hunger. Ah, if only I had enough money to buy a piece. No, Rin! Get it together! You're losing it again! I soon focused on the list that Teto wrote for me, the first things on the list were a bunch of normal vegetables. That's easy. I walked towards the stall which the sells the best vegetables in town but when I got there, the store was surrounded by a crowd of people.

The old me would've waited for the crowd to lessen in numbers but if I did that, there won't be any good vegetables left. I can't let Teto down! So I dived head first into the crowd but no matter how much strength I summoned to shove myself in, I would always get pushed back out into the open.

"Dammit! One more time-" As soon as I went for another round, I accidentally shove another girl to side.

"Kya!"

"Ahw!"

"Sorry, miss I didn't-" I was surprised to see her in person and in the market no less.

"Miku?"

"Len-kun?" Oh, damn. I forgot that I had a ponytail today.

"Uhh... Hey."

"What are you doing in a place like this?" She asked with worry in her eyes.

"Uh..."

"Why are you wearing such clothes." She added in shock as she examined my outfit.

"Umm..."

What am I suppose to do? If I say another wrong thing, it may ruin Len and Miku's relationship forever. He'll never forgive me!

"This is a complete misunder-"

She laughed gently before I could even finish.

"Huh?"

"I never knew that you liked to dress like this." She giggled.

"Yeah." I laughed as well. "This is my kind of fashion."

"Miss Miku!" The two of us turn our heads towards a deep voice calling for her.

She suddenly holds my hand.

"Come, let's go to the fountain."

"Foun-"

Before I knew it we both sprinted out of the market with speed. Even though she was wearing such a heavy looking dress, she sure can run fast.

"We're here" She said cheerfully without a sweat even though I was clearly out of breath.

"Do you remember we used to play here with Kaito?"

"Kaito?" So, she does know that perverted one.

"Mhm, he used to play tricks on us but you would always protect me from him."

"Really? I mean-Yeah." I said. "He deserved it."

"Can I tell you something, Len?"

"Sure."

She was blushing harshly, batting her eyelashes at me as she bit her lip nervously.

"Uhm.."

Oh, God! She's going to tell me she loves me-No, Len! Talk about bad timing.

"I think I'm in love with Kaito."

"What?"

"I know it's embarrassing." Her face quickly turns red as she swayed from side to side.

But Len is-

"I've always liked Kaito, even if he played those tricks on us." She said with a smile.

"Len-kun, please don't tell Kaito! Please!" Miku pleaded. "You're the only one I could tell you this."

"I won't." I smiled gently.

"Thank you! You really are a good friend!"

A friend, huh? Well, that's gotta hurt.

"Miku-sama! We must return to the kingdom at once." A lady called for her.

"Oh, right."

"Well, I'll visit sometime again." She smiled. "Write me some letters, alright?"

She then walks back inside her carriage as it take off into the distance.

Oh, no.
