What am I going to do? What am I going to do?
I ran as fast as I could to the palace with Miku's words echoing inside my mind nonstop.
'Please don't tell anyone, Len-kun!'
Len likes Miku but Miku is in love with Kaito. Damn it all. Why does love have to be so complicated?
"Rin!" I heard a voice from behind me causing me to stop in place. The moment I turned to see who it was, I quickly noticed his blue hair and blue eyes. Kaito. No way.
"Why aren't you in your maid uniform?" He said, smirking.
"Uh.."
"Hm?"
"Kaito"
"Yeah?"
"Uh..."
"Rin, what is it?" This is the first time that I didn't know what to say to him.
"How did you and Len become friends?" I blurted out.
He chuckled.
"Why do you want to know?"
"I just want some information, that's all."
"Then sure." He smiled.
We sat on the bench, the sun was quietly setting in front of us as most of the townspeople headed home to their families. A lot of girls noticed Kaito and he in return greeted them politely but after they were gone he would sigh deeply. Is it really hard to be a prince?
"Len and I weren't very close."
"What do you mean?"
"I mean, we would always play together but it all would end up in a fight." He said with a smile. "I would always tease him though because he wouldn't smile at me and he was quite adorable when he was a kid."
"Oh." Well, that makes Miku's story make sense.
"But," His eyes begin to look more gentle. "I always thought that we were the best of friends but I guess I was the only one who thought that."
"But anyways, that's it." He said blankly.
"What? That's it?"
"What were you expecting?" He looked annoyed.
"I was looking forward for a dramatic one." I said unsatisfied.
He laughed.
"Len is always the pessimistic type, he would always see the bad of things-"
He paused.
"What's wrong?"
"But when there is something he loved, he would see the good in it."
"Something he loved?"
Miku? Yes, that might be it.
"Kaito, is Miku a good friend of yours?"
He looked surprised.
"You know Miku?"
"Yeah, she visited the castle earlier." I began to get annoyed. "You were there."
He smirked.
"No, I didn't." He stared at me. "I was blinded by you."
"Shut up!" I said turning away from him. "So how?"
"Well, Miku was always the shy one and her parents asked if we could be friends with her."
"That's it?"
"Yep."
"Man."
"But I would always think that Len had a crush on her or something. I'm not really sure."
Finally! We're headed to the right direction for once!
"He treated her differently." He put his arms at the back of his head. "But no one knows for sure. Len is the type of person who rarely shows what he really feels inside so it's hard to tell."
"How do you see Miku?" I asked.
"Huh?"
"What do think of Miku?"
"Oh, she's alright and she's pretty friendly."
"That's it?"
"You expect too much, Rin." He began looking at me mischievously. "Don't tell me you're jealous."
"I'm not! I'm not jealous!" I answered as I felt my cheeks burn.
"Sure." He smirked proudly. "You could've told me sooner you know."
"You expect too much, Kaito" I said blankly.
We both laughed.
"But don't worry." He said. "Because right now, I'm in love with no one else in this world but you, Rin"
I wasn't laughing anymore, he wasn't either. He stared at me with seriousness in his eyes as if he wasn't teasing me like always anymore. He wasn't like the Kaito I knew before.
"Stop it." I said. "You can't be in love with me, I've only known you for what-? Two days? You can't call that love."
"Well, if it isn't then why do I feel so nervous around you?" Kaito replied thickly. "Why am I acting like a total idiot around you? Why do I keep thinking about you all the time? If it isn't love then what is it, Rin?"
I was speechless. I didn't know that words like that could come out from his mouth. In reality, I wasn't much of an expert in love nor did I have any experience with it other than my love for my mother.
"You know what, you're one of the two people whose actually seen the real me." He said. "You don't hold back what you say even though I am a prince. You're not afraid to call me an idiot or a pervert."
"Who is the other one?" I asked.
"Len." He said. "For the longest time, I've been treated like a god by my people. Some worship me and the others fear me. I've never had a real friend until the day I met Len."
"You know what the first thing he said to me when I greeted him?" Kaito scoffed. "He said, Wipe that fake smile on your face. That's when I realized that I wanted this person to be my friend so badly because he saw right through me like glass unlike the others. But I soon understood that it was hard to become friends with him but honestly, it was fun because it was my turn to impress someone else for once."
That's when I realized that the orange sun had gone down, replaced by the cold darkness. I couldn't say anything else but listen to his story. I didn't expect Kaito to feel so much for Len. He really does like Len a lot. But if Len knew how Miku loved him, he would flip out and hate him for sure. But she didn't know that, what if Len wouldn't even care? Maybe he cares for Kaito as much as he does for him.
