I couldn't look at him in the eyes. I was far too embarrassed to say anything to him. I wanted to run away, run away so far where no one would reach me. Not even Kaito could find me in.
"I'm sorry. I don't- I don't know!" Before I knew it, I ran towards the opposite direction. Sprinting as hard as I could and away from Kaito.
No way. I couldn't believe it! There was no way Kaito would ever fall in love with someone like me.
Whenever I had problems, the only thing I do is run. After all, running is what I'm good at. No one would ever reach or beat me. And the only place I end up is an old garden. Our special place. Nobody would call it a garden anymore since there weren't any flowers to be seen anymore, there were only weeds and dry leaves scattered about in the small garden. But it used to be such a beautiful one. Filled with one type of flower that I couldn't remember the name of anymore.
As soon as I entered the garden, I see something so familiar that I wouldn't even realize was real. I grew closer to it, realizing that I wasn't dreaming after all. It was the same golden flower yet still in it's growing phase since it was far too small. It was impossible for a flower like this to grow in an environment like this unless it was specially cared for. I crouched and touched the flower gently.
"If only, you were here." I said to myself. "You were always the one comforting me whenever I had problems."
But now, you're gone. Before I even processed it, tears began forming in my eyes as I remembered him.
"You." I heard a familiar voice from behind me.
I stand up quickly as I rubbed my eyes, wiping away my stupid tears. As I turned to see who it was, I see Len.
"Len?" I said, surprised. "Why are you here?"
He approached me slowly.
"That's what I was going say." He said blankly.
That's when his attention drifts towards the small golden flower below us. Several seconds pass until he finally says something to break the uncomfortable silence.
"Hey, if you really love someone would you tell him right away?" He asked still paying attention to the flower.
"Eh?" He now turns to me. "Would you?"
"Uhm. Sure, why?" I asked nervously.
"Never mind."
"Len was now staring at me deeply.
"What is it?" I asked, feeling my cheeks burn.
"Were you crying?"
"No." I begin to rub my eyes. "Dust got in my eyes."
"You know, this flower, it's the only flower still growing in this dead garden." He said.
"Really?" He nods.
"I also was surprised one flower survived without its owner." His eyes looked gentle. "Its truly a miracle, don't you think? It truly lives up to its name."
"It's name?"
"Yes, this flower's called Vivre." Len said. "It means to live. To survive no matter what the cost."
So that's what it's called. Now that I think about it, it does sound pretty familiar.
"Len, why exactly are you here?" I asked him.
"None of your business." He said with a frown. "How about you? What are you doing here?"
I smiled.
"Can you keep a secret, Len?" I said touching my lips with my finger.
He looked annoyed.
"Of course, don't you trust me?" He answered.
"Well-" I said thoughtfully.
"You ungrateful littl-" He wanted to hit me.
"Fine. Fine." I said. "I'll tell you."
That's when I looked around the dead garden with a smile on my face as I remembered how beautiful this place used be like.
"This is my special place." I said.
"What?"
"Whenever I have any problems, I go here." I said to him. "Then somehow the troubles disappear."
I glanced at Len who looked kind of uninterested for some reason, well that's how he really is. I can't blame him.
"Len?"
"Tell me, Rin" He said. "How exactly did you find this place?"
"It was when I was a kid, my brother and I used to go this place a lot." I said proudly.
"You have a brother?" He asked with surprise.
"Yeah." I said. "But he's gone now."
"What happened to him?" He asked.
"He-" Before I could even finish, a voice of a familiar someone called for Len.
"Len-sama!"
It was Gakupo no less. Without hesitation we both approached the purple haired fellow with a look of uneasiness in his eyes.
"Gakupo? What is it?" Len inquired.
"It's the Red Queen, she has come to meet your father now." He replied nervously.
"Len's face turned stone hard.
"Alright, I'll be there as soon as possible."
He grabbed my hand. I was surprised since the Len I picture wouldn't do something like that.
"Let's go."
I simply nodded since with confusion. I mean, I didn't what was going on or what the Red Queen had to do with all of this. It was still dark and I wasn't even sure if we were going to the same direction to the palace. The only thing that I could sense was our hurried footsteps echoing through the streets. That's when I wanted to know what the deal was.
"Len, what exactly is happening?"
He kept running and ignoring me.
"Hey!" I yelled.
Then he finally turns to me.
"None of your business." He said right in front of my face blankly.
Damn him. He's always like this. I told him earlier that I could trust him but why doesn't he trust me back?
"I told you my secret, it's only fair that you tell me what's going on."
He begin to look annoyed again.
"Fine." He sighed. "I'll tell you later when we get there."
"There?" I said. "Where exactly?"
"Stop asking so many questions!"
Then at one point he stopped running, I was several feet away from him when I noticed him stop. That's when I realized that we were at the hidden part of the castle where the back door was. Wow, took me quite a while to notice. Nice going, Rin.
"Rin, you go straight to your room got it?" He commanded.
I nodded. That's when he opened the door swiftly and went inside as I followed from behind him. Still confused about the whole situation I was in.
