Author's Note: Whelp… My computer is held together with duct tape.
Alright Mew, talk to them while I quickly think up what this chapter will be about
Guisniperman: "I have no idea what you are talking about, I'm just trying to see if I can get her to join in on some fun later. If she doesn't want to join, it is entirely her choice."
Gunrunner805: "I am both older, stronger, and smarter than her in every way. Cut Azula some slack, it isn't her fault that her teachers are awful, but if she decides to join me she will become quite a fighter."
Talkingbirdguy: "What is spiritbending?"
Scarlet Firesong: "I'm not really that interested in war… Battles, yes. Wars, no."
Chapter 5: Jail Time
Act I
Azula was not happy, and everyone around her knew it. After her one-sided fight with the 'Avatar', she threw herself into her training. The Palace's training ground was covered with holes, charred ground and the training dummies were left burnt to ashes.
And when she ran out of training dummies, she forced soldiers to fight her, where she would take them down almost as easily as if they were the training dummies.
'But not good enough,' Azula gnashed her teeth, her mind flashing back to her battle against the 'Avatar'. 'I will not be made a fool of!' She mentally shouted as she fired a bolt of lightning at the most recent of her victims.
The soldier barley managed to cry out as the lightning hit the training armor, and he was sent flying away.
This had become a common scene since the fight one week ago, and the number of soldier around the castle that weren't injured by her was dropping fast.
"I think that will be enough for today," Lo, one of the elderly twins, stated.
"Yes, we best not put all of our soldiers into medical beds after all," Li, the other twin, nodded in agreement.
Azula eyes flicked towards them, glaring at the two, before she turned around, and into the Royal Palace. Li and Lo gave a sigh of relief, believing that Azula was finally going to rest after her near non-stop training, but they were wrong.
'Those elderly idiots,' Azula fumed in her head. 'They know nothing!'
'Why your teachers don't help you,' Azula frowned as she remembered Mew's words
'Li and Lo are supposed to be the best, yet I am not getting anywhere!' Azula mentally ranted. 'I am a prodigy! They are supposed to be teaching me how to be the best Firebender, as I should be!'
'Unless they are not,' Mew's voice seemed to find its way into her head.
'But that makes no sense,' Azula shook her head in frustration. 'I am to be the next in line for the Throne. I am to be the next Fire Lady! I am-'
'The strongest rule, so why should they make you the strongest?'
Azula froze, her mind making connections, and she didn't like what it was telling her.
'Could they really…' Azula mind trailed off before the fire in her burned with rage. 'Uncle and Zuko! Of course, how could I have been so blind to what was happening right in front of me! I was lied to all along!' Flames began to dance along her hands, her anger taking form.
'But no one would ever say that to me face,' Azula's mind continue to jump around. 'That is why all of the maids have been avoiding me, they no longer see me as-' She cut herself off with a growl of frustration. 'I need answers now!'
The flames around her died down as she took a few deep breathes.
Righting herself up, her face returning to a more collective mask to hide her emotions.
'And… I unfortunately know someone who will tell me the truth,' Azula grimaced as she turned and walked to the main entrance, and ordered a carriage to take her somewhere. Unfortunately, she missed a messenger that was looking for her by mere minutes with important news.
Act II
Azula had the carriage take her to a building to the far edge of the Capital City. Looking out the window, she could see her destination.
Prison Tower, a large fortified stone tower, it was where the Fire Nation put all of their highly valued criminals. And she was here visiting the one that she hated the most, but knew that they were the only one who had told her the truth.
Azula felt the carriage come to a stop, and stepped out of the carriage, not waiting on anyone to open the door for her.
As she marched towards the Main Door, she noticed the guards sending her surprised looks before quickly bowing, none meeting her eyes.
"Princess Azula," A gruff voice infront of her called out, looking up she saw the warden of the large prison, Poon. "What did we do to honor a visit from you, your majesty." He bowed to her.
"I am here to see the Avatar, take me to her," Azula commanded. The moment that she mentioned the word 'Avatar', whispers broke out among the guards, causing her to frown. 'Are they keeping secrets from me now too?'
"Ah, of course," Warden Poon stood up from his bow, his face trying to hide worry and failed. "The Avatar has been… A bit of a handful to deal with." He added as he turned and pushed open the door for Azula to enter.
Azula held her head up high as she entered, ignoring the putrid smell of the other prisoners who have long been in need of a bath.
"Right this way, your majesty," Poon stepped forward and lead Azula further into the prison, going up many flights of stairs. When they reached the cell that held, Azula was mildly surprised to see five fully armed soldiers.
"I see you are taking precautions," Azula commented, drawing the soldier's attention and quickly bowing to her.
"We have done our best," Poon admitted as he pushed pass the soldiers and pushed open the cell's door. "But there is only so much we could do with the Avatar."
Azula perked her brow at that, and was about to ask what he meant when she heard her voice.
"Good to see you again Warden," Mew's cheerful voice called out as the door opened. Azula pushed aside Poon, and got her first glimpse of the insides of the cell and…
Mew was sitting atop a large smooth stone, while the ground around her was of a fine sand that was pushed around into a pattern. She had transformed her maximum security cell into a Zen Garden.
"We just couldn't break her!" Poon suddenly cried out, surprising Azula as the man lost his composer. "We have insulted her, taken away her food, her outside time, and tried every threat under the Sun! But nothing works!"
Azula frowned as she watched the Warden's eyes actually begin to tear up, and that was enough for her.
"I need to have a private chat with the Avatar," Azula's voice was cold as steel, causing the Warden to straighten up, forgetting who he was talking to for a moment.
"I'm sorry Princess, but I cannot allow you to be alone with the prisoner," Poon stated. "We-"
"Who are you to tell me what I can and cannot do?" Azula demanded as she swung around, her eyes glowing with rage. "I am your Princess, and I will do as I wish. Now leave before I have your job!"
"…Yes Princess Azula," Poon bowed after a moment to recover as he left the cell, the door closing behind him.
After the door closed, Azula took a moment to compose herself before she turned back to the 'Avatar', a frown etched on her face.
Azula and Mew's eyes met, calm blue eyes against fiery golden eyes. The staring contest dragged on for several moments before Azula asked/demanded her first question.
"How much do you know," Azula asked.
"About what Azula?" Mew asked innocently, even going so far as tilting her head. "I am well-traveled, so I do know quite a good bit of things. Be a bit more specific." She verbally poked her.
Azula had to bite the inside of her mouth to remain calm, and not attempt to fry the 'Avatar'. Li and Lo use to talk a lot like she was doing now, so she knew that losing her temper here would be detrimental.
"Do you know why Zuko and Iroh really left?" Azula asked this time.
"Hm… I believe that Zuko was sent away by his father from what I heard. But I am sure you know that," Mew chuckled as she shook her head. Azula clenched her fist and was about to yell, but Mew continued. "But Iroh… He left to teach Zuko how to play the game."
Whatever Azula was about to yell at Mew was caught in her throat.
'The Game?' Azula's mind rushed, trying to figure out what that meant. 'Pai Sho? No, Zuko would never learn that. War Games perhaps? Iroh use to be a General, so that isn't too far off. But they only reason to teach Zuko that would be-'
"Why haven't you escaped yet," Azula demanded, her mind putting together the pieces, but not liking what was coming out. "You are the Avatar, so you could bend the cell to let you out!"
"It isn't time yet," Mew's voice took on a sage like voice, closing her eyes as she appeared to be meditating. "The pieces have yet to fall."
"What pieces? What are you talking about?" Azula shouted, as it seemed like everything around her was collapsing. "Why did you let Zuko capture you?" She asked, her mental state failing.
"For he is to be the next Fire Lord," Mew stated as she opened her eyes, each eye glowed a bright blue.
Azula took a step back from Mew, she knew fully well from the legends that the Avatar's eyes glowed when they connected with the Spirit World.
'No, no, no,' Azula shook her head in denial, what she thought was happening all along was proven right. 'Lo and Li were purposely keeping me weak, while Zuko went through who know what kind of training with Iroh, the Dragon of the West!'
Azula's world was falling at her feet, as it seemed like everything she was raised for was turning to ash; her training, her teaching, her entire life! It was all wasted!
"Azula."
Azula's mind seemed to snap back to reality at her name. Looking up, she saw Mew's eyes were back to normal, but they were sad.
"I have seen your future Azula…" Mew's voice seemed to pierce her with the amount of emotions in it. "I see you locked away by your own Nation, treated like a rabid animal. Not even your father will look at you anymore."
Azula couldn't believe what she was hearing anymore, it...it was a nightmare.
"But it doesn't have to be," Mew suddenly stated, causing Azula's head to snap up and look at her, Mew's eyes no longer glowing. "In about a minute, I will be taken away to meet your father, your brother and your uncle in the Throne room."
'A meeting?' Azula blinked. 'But I was never told of this! I… I am being pushed aside for Zuko!'
"So now, we are at a crossroad," Mew continued speaking. "You can either accept your fate, and wind up exactly where I am…or you can come with me. Come with me, and I will train you to be best Firebender; Past, Present, and Future."
Azula's mind took a moment to process what the Avatar just said, and even then it had a hard to understanding what she was just told.
"What would you gain from training me?" Azula's mind went on the defensive. She had just found out that she was being played her entire life, and had little desire for it to happen again. "We are meant to be enemies, I could take what I learned and use it against you."
"True," Mew nodded her head in agreement. "As for my reasoning-" She was cut off by the sound of one of the guards knocking on the door.
"Apologizes Princess Azula, we need to transfer the prisoner," The guard said from behind the door. "She is needed to appear before the Fire Lord for her fate to be decided." He continued, confirming Mew's early statement.
'The Avatar was correct again,' Azula glared at the door before turning back to Mew.
"How do you plan on escaping?" Azula questioned, her gaze hardened as her eyes meet Mew's. "There are enough guards here to make a small army, and I doubt they will let us walk out the front door." At her last statement, Mew's eyes showed delight.
"Never said we were using the door." Mew said as her eyes began to glow again. Before Azula could question what she meant, her vision went black as she passed out. "Who needs doors when you can teleport?"
XxX
"Princess Azula?" The guard knocked on the cell door again after several moments. Before the only reason he didn't open the door was because the Princess was talking, but know he heard nothing.
Glancing at the other guard posted outside the Avatar's room, they gave each other a short nod before quickly opening the door, prepared for nearly anything the Avatar might have done.
Keyword being 'nearly', cause neither of them expected the room to be completely empty; No Avatar, and no Princess.
"Sound the alarm!" One of the guards shouted after a stunned moment, and began running down the hallway. "The Avatar has escaped, and has taken the Princess!"

Act III
(Unknown Location)
'Can't believe that actually worked,' Mew mused to herself as she ran her hand through the sand surrounding them. 'Just say some very vague things that could mean more, with glowing eyes and you can get away with a lot of things.'
Glancing to her right, she saw the unconscious form of the Fire Nation's Ex-Princess laying in the sand next to her.
"You really want to know my reason for this?" Mew suddenly spoke aloud, knowing full well that Azula was unconscious and couldn't hear her. "Since I arrived here, all I have heard was how the Avatar would save everyone, how the Avatar will end the war, and how the Avatar needed to be helped or stopped." She sighed.
Standing up, Mew looked at the sea of sand surrounding them.
"Focusing all of your hopes onto one person will always come back to bite you in the end," Mew continued, shaking her head at the very idea. "You need more than one strong fighter, just like you need a team with more than one type. You humans failed to learn this, so you are now in a bloody war where many innocents die."
"This world… It needs more than an Avatar; Master of the Four Elements. This world needs the Avatar and four of The Best Benders of their nations to make a lasting peace. So while Aang is out training to be the Avatar, I will be training the best benders… starting with you." Mew finished, a hopeful smile on her face.
"But first…" Mew turned around to look at the rest of the sea of sand. "I have no idea where we are."
