Through Me

Just because I've been gone for a long time, here's a random short chapter of our two favorite demons.

I came back to this chapter and noticed a lot was missing. Thinking back, I typed this up on my tablet with Google Docs. I am saying this right now! The glow of the full autumn moon blanketed the navy ebony sky. Stars glistening brightly, alighting other worldly milky streams. A beautiful night to stroll the English streets, arm in arm with a lover. Or, for a certain overworked Lord, a chance to sleep peacefully and dream sweet dreams.

Paperwork involving details of Mrs. Turner's rampage kept him awake well past midnight. Sebastian found him sound asleep at his desk. Mouth hung open with a trail of drool running to his chin. Were it a camera were available, he'd add his Master's vulnerable position to his collection. As luck would have it there was not. So he would have to treasure this moment while he could.

After putting Ciel to bed, Sebastian marveled at his carefree state. He truly is Alliahnna's opposite. He thought charmingly to himself. Ciel sleeps without a care while he stresses all day long. Alliahnna - you'd never be able to imagine she has smooth nights. During the day, she's the one keeping Ciel from boiling over. They are the perfect pair.

There are other differences between Ciel and Alliahnna. Some more obscure than others, but exist. The most obvious: I do not require a contract to want to be by her side. Deep down Sebastian worried what the Phantomhive twins thought of him when he wasn't around. For example: Do they count the days before My Lord's soul becomes mine. In that event, he also frets, Will Alliahnna distance herself from me again? All of these nonsensical thoughts whirling in his normally composed mind, Sebastian was sauntering down the Foyer stairs by the time he returned to reality. He sighed in disappointment of himself. When did I become such a worrisome man?

To be honest with himself, he's slowly started feeling like a third wheel right around when Ciel woke back up. Alliahnna and Ciel enjoy one another's company to the fullest. Their mannerisms match perfectly. They seem to know what the other is thinking before a word is uttered. That is how Alliahnna and I once were. Were? They still are. He knows what Alliahnna is thinking. Ciel too. It's just it seems to be a bother more than a charm nowadays. There is a loop surrounding the two. He is an intruder in that circle.

When my Young Master calls, I shall be by his side. He closed the front door behind him. Should Alliahnna be in danger, I will breach the obstacle gap and defend her. Blowing out the leading candle, he strolled through the darkness, entering the dense wood surrounding the manor. It will only be prudent of me to not intercede their dwindling time.

The doors parted again. A sad sapphire eye peered past.

For all their contrasts, the similarities are obvious. Their tempers for one. Twins or not, when they are upset it's like being scolded twice over by the same dagger filled glares. The confidence they display, their manner in dealing with difficult people and situations, and of course their ability to think several moves ahead of their opponents. As young as they are they can be brash, impulsive, and led by their horse choking pride. The scars etched in their skin hold long tales of their turmoil. Were they anyone else, Sebastian felt steadfast in his assumption they would have perished long ago.

Quite the pair I snared in my talons. Sebastian chuckled to himself, casually moving a branch aside. The drenched leaves soaked his gloves. The cold hadn't phased him. In ways the cold reminded him of Ciel. A distant young man, barring those outside his world from entering. Yet his courage and tenacity inspire those around him. Leads them to strive. As the cold water heated in his palm, thoughts of Alliahnna, her hand in his, brought a smile to his lips. A passionate young woman, always extending a kind hand. However she is the first to retract it when her trust is abused. A line is drawn that all know not to cross. Polar opposites that complement their every flaw.

Indeed. I have chosen quite the unique pair. Sebastian enjoyed watching them work together. Because, by the end of the day, they become brother and sister again. Tormenting and teasing each other. Laughing about the past. Fooling unsuspecting people over the phone by pretending to be the other. The amazing pair of twins. Phantomhive's twins.

Moist soil was unexpectedly replaced by sloping stone. Sebastian gawked at the bridge he subconsciously climbed. A bridge constructed before Ciel and Alliahnna were born. Tranquil to quiet the annoyances of daily troubles, and undoubtedly used by Rachelle and Vincent whenever they felt tender towards one another. He was able to picture a youthful Alliahnna and Ciel chasing each other over this bridge, dreaming of grand adventures. The childhood those two must have had. The family which lived prosperously in the estate.

How fickle fate is.

A stream rushed by below. Tiny fish and tadpoles swam by. Beams of moonlight peaking past gaps in the branches made the water glow beautifully. The fireflies coasting along - a place seen in dreams and books. Sebastian leaned on the carved stone rail, wallowing in the pleasant orchestra the woods performed. Gentle whispers of a breeze teasing the tree leaves. The lapping stream flowing effortlessly past rocks, venturing to a destination preset.

"Predetermined destinations…" Sebastian snickered at the whimsical concept. "No matter what they do, what they accomplish - death will one day grasp them." Blissful thoughts of Alliahnna flooded his mind. The demon within her - grinning maliciously, glistening pink eyes - emerged as a foreboding shadow. Bat wings wrapping to the shell of the former human. Sebastian tilted his head back. Locks of hair hiding half his face from the moon. A false smile stretching his cheeks. "An eternity of isolation will drive her to the brink first."

"Sebastian?" Sebastian was startled from his thoughts. Allaihnna came from around a tree, sauntering warily in her transparent purple robe. The ribbon at her waist hugged her white nightgown. "What are you doing up so late?" She approached him, gliding a hand on the cold stone.

"That should be my question." He smiled warmly. He saw the concern in her gleaming eyes. She has such an honest face. "What brings you this way?"

"I was getting some water when I saw you come out here." Sebastian groaned under his breath, turning his head as he cursed himself. I was being followed. He chuckled derisively. I must be distracted if she snuck up on me. "Is everything alright?"

"In a...manner of speaking." He leaned on his folded elbows, pretending to admire the water to hide his solemn. He tapped the space beside him, welcoming Alliahnna by him. Alliahnna smiled tenderly, seeing clear through his facade. Leaning beside him, she snuck a glimpse of her despondent expression in the water. "You and my Young Master are getting on splendidly."

"Why does it sound as if you expected us at each other's throats?" She asked casually.

"By his testimony from nine years past, one would foolishly believe you grew to hate each other." A fool he certainly is. It is as if the last nine years never happened. Ciel and Alliahnna's bond is stronger than iron.

"Yes..." Alliahnna's fingers dug in the coarse stone. Her expression dimmed somberly. "I think we believed that ourselves. That's why..." She trailed off, dropping her head. Sebastian became concerned when she went silent. "No. Never mind. It's not important." She obviously lied shaking her head. "What is important, however, is that he and I are together again. That is...until your contract is finished." The urge to cry pounded at her glossy eyes. Her heart ached.

"Alliahnna..." Sebastian droned her name, being mindful of her fragile state of mind. Always wearing a smile to mask her sorrow. The contract she willingly inherited from her brother, sacrificed her humanity to complete only to have be re-placed upon Ciel. Her only family will inevitably be taken. She knows this. She respects the terms. Accepting them will never come. "I...forgive me. I will keep my distance for the time being."

"HUH?" She was thrown into confusion by that one. Sebastian had his back facing her. "What are you on about?"

"As you said: You and my Young Master are making up for lost time. My presence imposes on that time. So..."

Alliahnna ran around, throwing her arms open to him. "Is that what you think? Sebastian, you're not-"

"Five years." Alliahnna went silent. Sebastian kept his head lowered, preventing Alliahnna from seeing his shameful presence. "For five years you were my master. Each day, though not acknowledged, I served as a constant reminder of a horrifying inevitability." Alliahnna sank sadly. What he's saying is true. But... "After eight years without him, you and my Young Master have a chance of rekindling a relation once scorned. Then the existence of demons - you being a demon - interfere, and force you both to pull back."

Sebastian didn't need to say it. Ciel's been warring within himself to face Alliahnna as a demon, all the while trying to keep from ordering Sebastian to kill himself. Alliahnna accepted the contract due to his inability to protect himself, choosing demonic power over humanity.. However, had Sebastian not offered it in the first place, she would be his sister and his sister alone. No contract is worth his sister.

Alliahnna see's it too. Although, constantly sulking about it wasn't going to change what is. Sulking didn't suit Sebastian at all. Were the roles reversed, Sebastian would make some sort of perverted comment or harass her. For once, she was going to be Sebastian, and pester him. She started by poking his cheek. Sebastian glanced at the finger expressionlessly, baffled by the smiling girl. "What is the meaning of this?"

"When you're upset your cheeks become bulgy." Sebastian blinked bewilderingly. She walked her fingers up his nose, and pressed two to the center of his brow. "And you get that ugly wrinkle in your brow. You look like an old man." She twisted the fingers, laughing with flushed cheeks. Sebastian groaned irately at the taunting touch. "What kind of butler would you be if you allow your age to show?"

"What kind of butler, indeed?" He grinned menacingly. Sebastian gently grasped her wrist, lifting her in one motion onto the bridge wall. He wrapped his free arm to her waist, putting himself between her legs. That upper hand smirk deepened Alliahnna's blush. "That remark concerns me. Are you a superficial lover, My Lady? Do your men have to maintain perfect covers?"

"N-No! Of course not!" She stammered flustered. "If that were the case, I'd have gone after Soma or Agni!"

Lightning struck the core of Sebastian's pride. Knew it! Alliahnna shivered, feeling her foot be devoured by a grave. "Shall I be unreasonable and assume, had I not pressed our affections to their breaking point," He clamped her head. His hands seem to grow bigger each time, "That you would have taken to Undertaker? Perhaps Zanosuke? Or maybe even my father?"

HIS FATHER?! That was pushing it! The man was ancient. And last time she checked, Undertkaer and Zanosuke were older than Sebastian. "Don't tell me Zano, Undertaker, and Jasper have you concerned?" She sneakily joked. The do age gracefully.

"Should I be concerned?" He moved in, edging her partially off the wall. Alliahnna grew nervous, grasping Sebastian's collar for dear life. Falling into cold water wasn't so appealing at the moment. He had an evil, mischievous look in his eye as he had Alliahnna on the tipping point. "Undertaker - you seem placid while he put his hands upon you."

"A facade, I assure you!" She gagged. Clammy hands touching her skin. Nails sending goosebumps up her neck. And how close he was. It made her shudder. "It took all my willpower not to kick him in his groin." Sebastian can see that happening. "A-anyway!Why are you even asking?! Your age and appearance were never an issue for me!" A lie. Sebastian was one of the most gorgeous men she'd ever met. Who happens to be older than...I believe he mentioned a pharaoh once.

"Because I am curious of something."

"That would be..." A sweat drop clung to the side of her head. Her apprehension faded to woe as Sebastian's grin was replaced by a frown.

"What will you see me as when I claim my master's soul?" The one million pound question. It trapped Alliahnna in a trance. "I see it in his eyes. My Young Master's. He is in pain because I turned you. And you..." His young master is an occupational concern. Alliahnna, on the other hand...Sebastian's hand found her cheek. "You go every day trying not to cry. Because one day...he will be taken again. Only this time...it'll be by someone who loves you."

Alliahnna's lips parted. The wind blew around them. Someone who loves me...Her heart rocketed to the stars while her stomach twisted in knots. Elation and nausea fighting for dominance within her. Taking a deep breath, she steeled herself, resting her head to his chest.

"I will be lying if I say I won't be sad." She rasped, biting the inside of her cheek. "I will also be lying if I tell you I won't be furious." She reached inside his pocket, finding the cat charm she gave him on his birthday last year. "Two men I hold close to my heart, and one of them HAS to be taken. Were it not for you...my brother and I might be able to live until our golden years." Sebastian titled his head down. Long bangs hid his sorrow. "However," His spirit lifted. Alliahnna brought her glistening sapphire orbs to meet his surprise, "Were it also not for you, the rift between us would have lingered. The pain made to blossom all the worse."

"Do you mean that?"

"Have I ever lied to you?"

"Well..." He trailed off. Alliahnna elbowed him. Sebastian chuckled and pulled her into a gentle kiss. "Lies, mysteries, and secrets - sins of any companionship arousing a desire to know them all." He slyly slide a finger, opening her robe and gown.

"Is that your way of saying I won't be getting any sleep tonight?" She dreamily asked. With only a smirk, Sebastian leaned in, locking her in a passionate kiss.

To be continued.
