AN: It's snowing where I live...YAY!
ENJOY, while I go outside to play!
When you love someone, you're supposed to love everything about them, right? Bonnie Bennett didn't know the answer to that as she stared into the eyes of the man she love.
His demonic evil black eyes.
And gone was his beautiful gorgeous face that she loved so much and in its place was the face of a monster with sharp, pointy fangs that could rip her tender flesh to shreds.
Lexi tightened her hold around Bonnie's neck, her breathing being severely hindered.
"See that Bonnie…I told you. Meet the real Damon Salvatore. Not so pretty anymore, is he." She gloated.
She kept her eyes peeled to Damon just in case the sneaky bastard made any sudden moves as she whispered close to Bonnie's ear. "You let that monster come inside you…actually how many times did you let it fuck you, huh Bonnie?" Lexi taunted, smiling viciously.
The girl squeezed her eyes shut as tears rolled down her eyes.
Of course, Damon heard every single word the sick bitch uttered to Bonnie, but he continued to keep his eyes on Lexi and not her.
Because he couldn't bring himself to look at her, not now.
What was important right now was getting Bonnie away from her and then he would deal with the fall out.
The blonde vamp laughed with a joyful glee that bordered on insane. "You should have seen her face Damon when I told her that you, me and Stefan were vampires. She thought I was crazy." Pause. "That is…until I showed her…isn't that right, pretty girl." She said, kissing Bonnie hard on the cheek.
Bonnie made a disgusted sound, her nails digging into Lexi's arm but it didn't have any effect on her whatsoever.
"I was kinda bummed though when she didn't piss or shit her pants, but her face was still fucking priceless!" She chuckled.
Damon ignored what she said as he slowly walked towards the pair. "Let her go Lex and I'll show you mercy by not killing you." He said, lying through his teeth.
Because the first chance he got he was going to rip her fucking heart out.
Lexi cautiously backed up, pulling a scared Bonnie with her.
The smell of her fear was palpable.
Damon stopped inhaling because the scent was distracting and he needed to keep his head.
But nothing could drown out the sound of her heart beating so loudly and frantically inside of her heaving chest.
"Mercy? There's nothing merciful about you Damon. I found that out long ago, remember?" She sneered.
Her green eyes softened. "He and I used to be together, did he tell you that Bonnie…I loved him so much. And I thought he loved me, but I was wrong. I found out that Damon Salvatore was incapable of loving anyone… or so I thought." She spat. "Imagine my surprise when I came here and saw how he was with you." She said bitterly.
"Do you have any idea how it made me feel watching him fall in love with you?" She said, jerking Bonnie's small body upward.
The girl winced in pain.
Lexi continued lost in her rage. "He broke my heart like what we had meant absolutely nothing to him!" She burst out.
But after a moment the blonde vamp got a hold of herself."
Her voice was calmer now, but it became calculating as she decided to reveal her big secret.
"So I decided that Damon needed to know how I felt…because otherwise how would he learn." She glared at him with vengeful eyes. "And that's why I compelled that jogger to rape and murder Bonnie in the woods."
Damon froze.
All that could be heard in that moment was the sound of Bonnie's heart skipping a beat as the bile rose up inside her throat at Lexi's confession.
She continued, reveling in the bomb she'd just dropped.
"I wanted you to know how it felt to have your fucking heart ripped out Damon. And I knew that finding her dead body, violated by another man would do exactly that. Pause. "Too bad he couldn't get the job done."
"I'm going to enjoy killing you." He said after a moment.
"Just like I'm going to enjoy killing her right in front of you!"
Lexi viciously bit into Bonnie's neck.
Earlier That Day…
Bonnie watched him as he mingled with the town folk in the center square. Every woman he came into contact with blushed like a school girl, despite her age.
But it was the older women who had no shame and flirted with him openly.
Bonnie was sure every time he flashed his blue gaze in any one of their direction the seat of their panties became wet.
He turned many of a head as he swaggered on by, stopping every now and then to say hello.
Without a doubt Damon Salvatore was the best looking man at the Mystic Fall's Township Day celebration.
The sun was out and it was sixty degrees outside, so far the warmest day of the winter and everyone was enjoying the break from the bitter cold weather.
A medium sized lemonade dangled from her hand and would have spilled onto the ground if it wasn't for the lid on top because Bonnie was too busy paying attention to Damon, following him with her eyes as he made his way through the crowd.
He was dressed in all black today; his thin, expensive V-neck sweater hugged his muscles while his jeans fit just as nicely on the lower half of his body. And even though it was slightly cool outside he had his sleeves pulled up over his forearms.
And his eyes looked amazing in the bright sunshine.
Bonnie could see their brilliance even from where she stood which was some distance away. She saw Jamie come up to him and Damon immediately gave the boy his full attention.
Jamie was rocking his leather jacket and looking at him now no one would ever guess that he was mentally challenged because he looked like a normal teenage boy.
It was only when you held a conversation with him that his disability was evident.
A couple of girls who were clearly from out of town tried to flirt with him and after a minute of standing there talking to Jamie Bonnie could see it start to dawn on them that he was special. But at least they were nice about it and didn't laugh at him. They politely ended the conversation and said their goodbyes which Bonnie was so grateful for because teenagers could be so cruel.
Her heart broke for her brother because she knew that this was just the beginning because Jamie was a very good looking boy and because he looked "normal" girls who didn't know his situation were going to be interested in him and try to talk to him and once they found out there was no guarantee that every girl would be sensitive to his feelings.
She watched as Damon pulled out his wallet and handed her brother some money and he smiled before disappearing into the crowd of people.
He was probably going to buy something sweet at one of the many booths that were set up in the square trying to raise money for a town clock like the one in the movie Back to the Future.
It was such a stupid idea and waste of money, but whatever.
When her eyes returned to Damon, he was watching her.
His eyes traveled down the length of her body and it made Bonnie feel like she was standing their butt naked, instead of the navy blue pea coat, jeans, and boots she had on. He just had a way of looking at her that was hungry and possessive all at the same time.
But he needed to stop because they were in public and if someone were to follow his eyes and see him looking at her like that…people would surely talk and that was the last thing they needed.
"Hey Bonnie." A deep voice said at her side.
The girl turned her head and smiled softly. "Hey Jesse."
The wind gently blew her hair in her face and for a second Jesse almost reached out and moved it away with his hand.
But she did instead, tucking it behind her ear.
He cleared his throat. "I'm surprised to see you here."
Bonnie's forehead crinkled. "Why surprised?"
"You just seem to be MIA lately. I don't see you anymore."
"We see each other all the time in school Jesse."
"Yeah, but what I mean is that you don't hang out anymore."
Oh.
She looked away from him, clearing her throat. "Um yeah. It's just that now football season is over and it's been so cold this winter…I've been sticking close to home, you know."
Jesse lightly chuckled. "So you're a home body, huh?"
Bonnie turned back to him with a small smile on her pretty face. "Yeah, I guess you could say that."
"So, does that mean you're not going to the Winter Formal?"
Bonnie shook her head. "No…I don't think so. And besides, no one has asked me." She tacked on as a great excuse as to why she wasn't going because what else could see say.
She definitely couldn't tell him the truth, which was she was in a relationship with Damon and being with him was taking up most of her time and that going to school dances was the last thing she wanted to do.
He cleared his throat. "Well Bonnie, that's kinda my fault."
The girl's brows knitted together in confusion. "What do you mean?"
The seventeen year old actually blushed, dropping his eyes to the ground. "I sort of made it known to all of the guys that I was going to ask you to the dance."
He raised his eyes to her face to gauge her reaction.
Her mouth had dropped.
Bonnie didn't know what to say.
But now that he'd said it, Jesse sort of rushed on while he had the nerve. "Look Bonnie, I really like you…I have for a long time and I've been wanting to ask you out for a while now, but I didn't because I knew you were going through some things."
He was talking about her mother's death.
She swallowed hard.
"And I know exactly how that feels because I lost both of my parents when I was twelve. They died in a house fire." Pause. "So I know what you were going through… and I wanted to give you the time and space that I know you needed."
All Bonnie could do was look at the boy standing in front of her. "I'm sorry Jesse…I didn't know."
He shook his head. "I don't really talk about it that much...it's kind of hard, you know."
Bonnie completely understood, knowing exactly what he was talking about but before she could say as much to him, the two were interrupted.
"You going to drink this?" Damon asked, referring to the lemonade long forgotten in her hand.
He took it without waiting for a response and began to drink from her straw. "So, what are you two discussing?" He asked, looking directly at Bonnie, his blue eyes slightly flashing.
Jesse regarded Damon, feeling a little put off by his intrusion.
And what was up with how he just took the lemonade out of her hand and began drinking it? There was something intimate about the gesture, not to mention the way he was looking at her.
It was weird.
The boy cleared his throat. "I was just asking Bonnie if she would attend the Winter Formal with me, Sir."
Silence.
"Is that so?" He asked, eyes still on the girl.
"Yes." Bonnie said somewhat curtly, not liking the way he was looking at her.
His eyes were accusing.
Who the hell did Damon think he was looking at her like that, especially after what she found out?
He lied to her.
Damon said that he and Stefan had been born in Mystic Falls when they hadn't and Bonnie didn't understand why he'd lie about something so stupid.
Who cared where he was born?
Which got the girl to thinking that if he would lie about that, then what else was he lying to her about?
Were his eyes really that blue or was he wearing fucking contacts?
A confused Jesse looked between the two wondering what was going on; it was so awkward the way they were just standing there staring at each other. He felt like he was the one intruding on them.
"And what did you tell him?" He asked, completely ignoring the hell out of Jesse like he wasn't even standing there.
She saw the tick in his jaw.
"I haven't given him an answer yet… so could you please leave us alone, Sir."
Funny.
Damon lightly cocked his head to one side, a slight gleam in his eyes and he finally acknowledged the boy standing to his left.
"Jesse right?"
The boy nodded. "Yes Sir…Jesse Hunter."
"Well, sorry Jesse, but Bonnie won't be attending Winter Formal. She has plans that night." He swung his gaze back to the girl. "Right, Bon? Slight pause. "Tell him that you can't go."
Omg, was he really doing this? And her eyes said as much as she stared at him.
And for a split second there was a strong part of her that wanted to defy Damon and tell Jesse yes, that she would go to the dance with him, but she couldn't do that.
The boy had just said that he liked her and Bonnie didn't want to use him like that and lead him on just to get back at Damon and teach his ass a lesson.
It wasn't right.
And even though Damon just put her on the spot in the most embarrassing way, Bonnie remained poised and didn't scratch out his fucking eyeballs like her long manicured nails were itching to do.
"I'm sorry Jesse. It's just that I never intended on going in the first place, so I made other plans." She said, looking at him apologetically.
At least what she said was half true. She never planned on going to the dance.
"Well I'm sorry to hear that. We would have had fun." Pause. "I guess I better get back. My grandmother is probably wondering where I went off to."
Bonnie nodded her head. "Goodbye Jesse."
"Bye Bonnie." He said, giving her a small wave before taking his leave, clearly disappointed.
"Wow, that was awkward." Damon said flippantly, once the boy was gone.
Bonnie laid into him with a quickness. "You had no right to do that!" She seethed lowly.
Her eyes were greener than Damon had ever seen them look before. And they were flashing hotly.
"Are you kidding me? I had every right." He countered, his eyes widening as he glared at her.
Some horny ass teenage boy tells Bonnie that he likes her and he wasn't supposed to do anything about it…fuck that! Jesse was just lucky that all he walked away with was slight disappointment because it could have been much worse. Trust.
"You're such a fucking asshole!" She hissed, but then stopped herself.
Bonnie shook her head, taking a step back.
They were out in public, literally surround by everyone in town. "No. I'm not going to do this."
She looked around the square.
No one was paying attention to them, yet, but she knew that could quickly change if they continued on this path. "I think we need some space from one another."
Damon blocked her with his body when she tried to sidestep him. "And what the fuck does that mean?" He asked heatedly, getting in her face.
Bonnie hated when he did that.
She gritted her teeth. "We're in public Damon." Reminding him.
"Does it look like I fucking care?!"
Bonnie could see that he didn't.
She knew that when Damon got like this he was more than capable of showing his ass and she couldn't afford for him to have a hissy fit in front of the whole damn town and end up blowing their cover, so it was best to not engage because Bonnie had learned when she didn't feed into Damon's anger, he usually calmed down.
So she shut the hell up, not giving him an inch so that he could take a mile.
Damon's glare didn't let up and after a few moments of her silence, some of the heat died down.
After a moment she spoke calmly. "I still have a lot of homework to do, so I'm going to leave and go on home."
Damon knew that was just an excuse to get away from him.
Fine. He'd give Bonnie her fucking space.
"You just make sure you're home when I get there…don't make me have to come looking for you."
Don't make him come look for her?
Was this ninja serious?
If there weren't in public she'd hit him. She'd hit him hard. But instead Bonnie just looked at him, cussing his ass out with her eyes.
And without a word she stumped away from him.
It took a pissed off Bonnie a few minutes to find her brother and when she did he was stuffing his face with a huge chocolate chip cookie the size of his face.
The girl told her brother that she was leaving and to stick close to Damon before breaking off a good chunk of cookie for herself and leaving the celebration.
Bonnie was still fuming as she walked through the front door of the boardinghouse. She pulled off her navy blue pea coat and threw it on the living room sofa.
The fucking nerve of him!
When that bastard got home she was going to give him a piece of her mind!
"Fucking asshole!" She screamed aloud in angry frustration.
"Such a filthy mouth for a pretty girl."
A startled Bonnie gasped, swinging around with her hand going to her heart.
"Lexi? What are you doing here?"
"What else? I came back to finish what I started."
Damon heard Bonnie scream and something crash to the floor seconds later when he stepped out of his car. He told Jamie to stay put until he came back outside to get him. The boy nodded his head and locked the car doors as Damon ran to the house.
As he entered his home, he immediately smelled the scent of another vampire as well as the smell of Bonnie's fear.
Just as he got to the living room which was a complete mess, he saw Lexi vamp speed over to Bonnie who was struggling to get up from off the floor. The blonde vamp grabbed the girl and held her in front of her like a human shield.
Damon immediately vamped out, his fangs elongating as his pretty blue eyes bled into black.
Bonnie who'd been somewhat dazed after being thrown like a rag doll screamed at seeing his face transform right before her very eyes.
It was true. He was a vampire.
Lexi tore into Bonnie's neck like a rabid dog and she screamed out in pain, but it only last a few seconds because Stefan came out of nowhere and pulled the bitch off her, sending his best friend crashing into the wall.
Bonnie crumpled to the floor.
"Why did you stop me?!" Lexi raged as she flew at Stefan.
Their bodies collided like two freight trains, falling to the floor in a loud thump.
They struggled as each one tried to gain the upper hand. But when it came to strength the vampires were equally yoked and depending upon the day either one could be the victor.
But as it so happened today was Lexi's day, her thirst for Bonnie's death fueling her like nothing else could and she was able to overpower her best friend .
She finally managed to get Stefan into a head lock. He was on his knees with her standing behind him.
She planned on snapping his neck which would keep him out of commission for a few minutes while she took care of Bonnie once and for all.
But just as she was about to do it, Lexi felt something pierce her back.
She gasped and looked down at her chest but didn't see anything protruding out of her.
She let go of Stefan and then slowly turned her head, her green eyes widening in shock when she saw her bloody red heart in the palm of Damon Salvatore's hand.
Now ain't that a bitch, was Lexi Branson's last thought before making a slight gurgling noise as blood spilled from her mouth just before her body dropped to the floor.
Bonnie saw it all and screamed, turning her face into the side of the sofa when she saw Damon pull Lexi's heart from her body and held it in his hand like it was nothing.
This couldn't be happening!
None of this was real she kept trying to convince herself.
This was all just a dream. A really bad dream that she was going to awake from any minute now and everything would be back to normal.
But that never happened.
"Bonnie…baby?" She heard Damon say softly beside her.
He touched her hair with his unsoiled hand and she flinched away, trying to make herself as tiny as possible as she buried her face further into the upholstered sofa.
"Please leave me alone." Her voice was shrouded in fear, her small body trembling like a leaf.
The sound of her heart was beating so loudly and so fast to Damon's vampire ears.
"I can't do that…you're hurt."
And just like that she could feel the pain from her neck where Lexi had bitten her.
He moved her hair out the way so he could see the bite mark and Bonnie screamed, scurrying away from him like a small frightened animal, literally backing herself into a corner.
She was able to stand on shaky legs, all the while keeping her eyes on Damon like she was afraid he would pounce at any moment, attacking her.
Her beautiful face was stained with tears and he could finally see the damage Lexi had done to her neck.
Damon slowly stood to his feet as well, but remained where he was. "You're losing blood Bonnie…you have to let me heal you, okay baby?" He said gently.
The girl slowly shook her head, not really knowing how he planned on doing that, but what she did know was that she didn't want him anywhere near her.
He took a slight step forward and Bonnie grabbed the poker from the fireplace, holding it in front of her as a weapon.
"Stay away from me!" She cried frantically.
Damon shook his head. "I'm sorry but I can't do that… I love you way too much to ever stay away from you, Bonnie."
Silence.
"And I know that you love me too." He continued.
Fat tears fell from her eyes. She sadly shook her head. "It was all a lie…you're not who I thought you were."
Damon stilled his heart against her hurtful words. He told himself that she was just in shock and needed time to adjust to everything.
"That's not true. I'm still the same crazy bastard that you managed to fall in love with in spite of everything… only now you know my true face, that's all, but inside I'm still the same person."
"You're a vampire!" She screamed, tightening her grip around the poker. "How is that even possible?!"
Damon could see her becoming hysterical and images of Emily slowly losing her mind when she discovered what he was flashed through his.
He couldn't let that happen to Bonnie.
He didn't take another step towards her, but instead knelt down to the floor, wanting to make himself look as nonthreatening as possible.
He shook his head, a firm resolve coming over him. "From the moment you met me, you always stood your ground, Bonnie. So I refuse to believe that you're afraid of me now."
"Nothing about me as changed." Pause. "The man that made love to you this morning is the same man kneeling before you now."
She closed her eyes, shaking her head. She didn't want to think about that. "Please stop." She cried softly.
He was a monster. And he'd been inside of her body. She'd given herself to him time and again and loved every minute of it.
"You're not afraid of me. Because you know deep down inside your heart that I would rather die than hurt you." He said with his voice catching.
"You're the love of my life Bonnie." He said with tears rolling down his cheeks.
She couldn't take this.
"You're the love of my life." He said again more softly.
The girl closed her eyes, tears spilling down her face and the fire poker dropped to the floor.
"But you have to decide whether or not you want to be with me. The real me."
When she opened her eyes, Damon was in his vampire form.
But he remained on his knees and allowed her to see his true face.
And never once in Damon Salvatore's entire life, both living and undead had he felt so vulnerable.
