Chapter 9: Three in One

"Yes! I did it!" I cheered, standing over the knocked down ice target in victory. "In your face! Target!"

"Well done, Elin." Grace smiled as the walked over. "Now you just have to knock down the other two.

'Crud.' I thought as I looked at the remaining targets. 'I just got the first one through luck.'

Before I could think any further a familiar voice spoke up. "I can't believe I had to fly in circles so that I could explain everything to you two! How thick are you!?"

"I'm sorry!" Another, unfamiliar voice said in a panic, I looked around, but I couldn't see anything.

"Is Latias here?" Harrison asked no-one in particular.

As if on cue Latias materialized in the centre, with a Buneary and a Cyndaquil on her back. "Yeah, well, thanks for the ride anyway." The Buneary smirked as she hopped off, she sounded kinda familiar...

As for the Cyndaquil, he jumped off and made a dash for the trees, hurriedly climbing up one and clutching the branch for dear life. That LOOKED familiar...

"Oh for the love of...Arceus." The Buneary sighed. "Rei! Stop being the Tree Climber and come down for a second!"

Wait...Rei? So that meant that the Buneary was..."Hey! Kana! Rei!" I called, waving at them.

The Buneary's ears perked up and she turned to face me, tilting her head. "Oh, hey! Your the one who started it all! Let me guess!...Errrr...Elin?"

"Did Latias tell you?" I asked.

"...Maybe." I facepalmed as she walked over. "Good to see you didn't get raped, Elin."

"Yeah I-Wait, what!?" Where the heck did THAT idea come from?

"Some overreacting kids have been shouting rumors." Latias explained with an angry twitch.

"Perfect." I heard Namae mumble. "Two more, what next? A Magikarp?"

"Why would people think that? Bunch of idiots." Lydia looked like she wanted to beat the crap out of Matt, but Ray held her back.

"Hey! HEEEEY!" We all looked at the tree to see Luke trying to climb up to Rei. "Hey! Tell me how you climb so high! Hey! Heeeeey!"

"Go Luke!" Sarah cheered him on. The new Cyndaquil did not look pleased at their crowding.

"Don't bother, he doesn't talk to anyone he thinks is weird." Kana told them.

"Awwww!" Both of them pouted, seemingly ignoring the 'weird' insult.

"I-I wonder how many more will come..." I overheard Gael's self whisper, and I found myself thinking that too, at this rate we'd have a small army. But then again...we could go Pokemon Conquest style and take over stuff, that'd be cool.

"Okay! Introductions over!" Latias' shout snapped me out of my train of thought. "C'mon! Training time!"

"Oh joy..." Kana sighed, looking around and then plodding over to the targets.

Latias flew over to the tree and glared at Rei. "That goes for you too! C'mon!" She grabbed hold of the Cyndaquil and started pulling on him, but the Tree Climber held on for dear life.

"Why do we keep getting weirdoes?" Matt asked, making Ray have to hold an angered Lydia down.

The human campers were once more off searching, Sean however was just sitting back at the camp, piecing things together in his head. As far as he knew, the only person left here was Connor, who still refused to look for anyone despite the urgent matter.

He swept his hand through his hair as he looked at the large pile of clothes and personal belongings accumulating from the missing campers. He was debating the situation, and had managed to come to at least one conclusion, he needed to call some sort of meeting when everyone came back for lunch. After all, the current 'method' of searching was only losing more and more people.

He reached into his bag next to him and pulled out the Manurhin MR 73 pistol inside. Yeah, he should consider himself lucky that they didn't do routine checks. He turned the weapon in his hand, examining it from every value. This one wasn't PARTICULARLY special, in terms of sentimental value, but it was detailed nonetheless. Perhaps he should keep it on hand in case-

A low violin screech interrupted his thoughts, and he hurriedly placed the gun back in his bag. His eyes darted around until he looked out the window. Sitting on a stump, playing a slow, sad melody, was...what was her name? Victoria?

"Could you please stop that?" He asked politely.

She seemingly ignored him, not stopping until she finished the piece, and looked up at him. "There's a fact you've completely overlooked." And without a word more, started another depressing piece.

Fact he overlooked? Ridiculous. He's looking into every possible detail. What was she trying to do? Psyche him out? He looked back at her, just playing again, some of the people here weren't half weird.

She abruptly stopped playing, laying the violin gently down before standing off and walking off. 'Strange...' Was all he could think.

Daniel, Michael and Nina all walked along the path, Nina leading enthusiastically whilst Daniel and Michael talked between themselves.

"This is getting ridiculous, more people are disappearing and we're just doing the same thing over and over again." Daniel sighed. "I just hope this'll blow over."

"Well, it is pretty bad." Michael agreed calmly. "But the trick is not to panic and stay calm."

"That's what I'm doing." Daniel said with a half-lidded look.

"C'MON! You guys are so slow!" Nina yelled back.

"Nope, your just fast." Michael chuckled.

Nina crossed her arms before plodding on with her head held high. "At least she can take care of herself." Daniel nodded, making the two friends chuckle.

"Ouch!" The duo heard the cry and ran forward, finding Nina sprawled on the ground. "Are you alright?" Michael asked.

"Yeah, yeah, I'm fine..." Nina said with a wince.

"No your not." Daniel said bluntly as he rested her against a tree and examined a nasty graze on her knee. "Hmm...we'd better stop and rest for a minute."

"I said I'm fine!" Nina persisted, before clutching her knee with a scrunched up face.

"Nooo your not." Michael repeated as they all sat down. Nina tried to fight back, but just slumped against the tree knowing it was useless, and closed her eyes, letting the sunlight fall on her face.

Daniel and Michael sat on the other side of the tree, every now and then looking back at her. "We should get her back to camp afterwards." Michael said.

"Yeah, or at least clean it." Daniel said. "This is just getting ridiculous now."

As Nina lay peacefully against th tree her body began to change, unlike most of the others, this one was painless, lucky her. She grew a little bit smaller, but not by much due to her height, her hair sucked itself back inside her haid as he ears moved upwards, getting a little bigger and pointier. Her body squashed itself into a more rounded shape as her arms and legs turned stubby, with her five fingers shrinking down to be replaced by three small claws. Her skin colour was practically unaltered as her eyes and mouth grew tiny to fir the new face, and to complete it, two tiny wings sprouted out of her back, followed by along tail that curled itself up.

Nina's eyes flickered as she yawned and stood up, unaware of the fact that the transformation had helpfully healed her knee as a bonus. 'That was close, I almost fell asleep.' She thought to herself with a small yawn.

She then realised no pain was shooting through her leg, and looked down to be met with her new stubby ones. 'Hey! My knees better! But now my legs look funny...hmmm...' She walked around in circles, trying to get a good look at herself, until the gears finally started turning. '...I'm a Clefairy!...That's so cooooool!'

She began hopping up and down, admiring her new increased height with childish fascination. 'I wonder if I can still talk?' "Helloooo?" "Clefaiiiiiir?" 'Guess not, oh well!'

It was then that Michael and Daniel walked back around. Now imagine the two most hilarious shocked faces you've ever seen, and put them on their faces to accurately display the shock they had from seeing a Clefairy skipping around without a care in the world.

"...Okay, I think we've been drugged." Michael came to a conclusion.

"I don't even know how to counter that." Daniel admitted defeat as he stared at the Clefairy, who stared back at him.

"Oh, hey you two!" "Clef, Clefairy Clef!" Nina said before she started singing as well.

"It's not an illusion." Daniel deduced as they both sat down to be at equal eye level with her. "Errr, hi...Clefairy."

"Hi." "Clef." She casually greeted them back.

"This isn't reeeeeally getting us anywhere." Michael acknowledged that fact.

Meanwhile Detective Daniel examined Nina's previous clothes, shifting hs gaze between the new pokemon and the evidence before looking at Michael. "Here me out on this."

"Okaaaaay."

"I think...that this Clefairy...is Nina."

As Nina nodded in agreement Michael seemed to get it. "Wow...only WE could look away for five minutes and have the person we're bodyguarding turn into a pokemon. So now what?"

"Well, we can't take her back now can we?"

"Why not? it provides an explanation."

"Yes but, think about what would happen with the...I dunno CIA or something! She could get..." He glanced at the young girl, whispering the next part. "Disected or something."

"So what then?"

"I dunno...er...oh no."

"What?"

"Yeeeeeeah, I THINK this might be happening to us too."

"How do you know?"

"Because I don't think you tan."

What Daniel was referring to was the fact Michael had turned brown. "Oh...oh well." Michael just shrugged it off.

"Let's just hope I get a good one." Daniel also threw off the problems as he crossed his fingers. 'And please let me keep my fingers.'

Daniel's, unlike Nina's, hurt quite a bit as his skin turned light green. His hair fell out as two prominent bumps appeared on his head, with his eyes enlargening and moving to one side of each, turning yellow in the process. His nose swelled into a snout as his lower jaw, torso and stomach all were turned red. His hands simplified into three stubby fingers, which gained hooks too small for the naked eye to see, the same thing happened to his feet. The beginnings of his facial hair fell away as a long dark green tail (That actually looked like two joined tails) grew out his shrinking to the appropriate height completed the change.

Michael's was a bit more...simplistic. His entire body turned chocolate brown and his hair fell out. His face actually disappeared as his head and limbs stretched out into points as he shrank down, leaving nothing but a brown starfish. However it didn't end there. A small ruby orb emerged in the centre, growing bigger and bigger until it covered the entire centre, followed by some yellow coral like armour surrounding it, and a 'strap' around one of its 'legs'.

Michael hopped up and staggered around on his new awkward legs. "Woaoaoah, this is weird." "Hrah!"

Daniel looked at him. "Your a Staryu!...And what was that noise you made?" "Treecko Tree!...Tree Treecko Treecko Treecko?"

"I don't know." "Hrah!"

"Yay! Now your pokemon as well!" Nina cheered.

"Treecko, huh? Not too bad." Daniel smiled.

"Being a Staryu is weird." Michael stated as he finally stopped wobbling.

"I'll say." Daniel said as he examined his friend. "Can you even see me? And how are you supposed to eat?"

"Everything's slightly red, so I guess I'm looking through this." Michael tapped the jewel in the centre.

"Cool!" Nina approved as she tapped the jewel.

A sudden rustle of bushes caused the three to jump, and out of them emerged a shadowy human figure. "I guess you three are compatible, huh?" The figure sighed. "Looks like I'm gonna have to do Pinkie's job...hey, do any of you want a coat?"

"VICTORY! NUMERO DOS!" I announced at my triumph of knocking down the second target.

"Great job, Elin!" Vi cheered.

"Your really showing signs of improvement." Grace praised me.

"Heh heh, thanks." I rubbed the back of my head with a faint blush. I'm used to belittlement, not praise.

Grace then abruptly turned her head and stared at some bushes for a few seconds before stifling a giggle. "Mew, we have three more coming, and it looks like You-Know-Who sent them." You-Know-Who?

Mew sighed in a mixture of relief and exasperation. "I'm glad to hear he's okay, I just hope he hasn't given them-"

Sghe was interrupted by a Treecko, a Staryu and a Clefairy walking through, but they were all wearing..."Coats." Mew finished with a facepalm.

Yes, they were all wearing coats, baby coats if they could fit them. "Who's You-Know-Who?" I asked Mew.

"For the sake of plot suspense, I'm not gonna tell you."...Plot suspense? Okay, now she was just pulling my tail.

The Treecko stepped forward. "Hey uh...who here's called 'Pinkie the Mew'?"

"Just call me Mew." Said pokemon sighed. "And you don't have to wear those anymore."

"Thank you." The Staryu said. Well, that's what I understood it as, what he actually said was 'Hrah'. Literally just 'Hrah'.

"Wow! So there ARE Legendaries!" The Clefairy squealed. "And your all campers, right? I'm Nina, and this is Daniel, and this is Michael."

'Daniel and Michael? Wow, didn't expect them to be candidates.' "Hey guys! It's me! Elin!" After quick introductions I got to the important question. "Michael...how are you gonna eat anything."

"I honestly don't know." The new Staryu said with a shake of his body.

"Staryu's absorb foods through their bodies." Grace explained.

"Gross..." Me and Nina said in synch.

"How many more..." Namae sighed, her head resting on one of her claws.

Daniel glared at the Grovyle. "Sorry, did we intrude on something?"

Namae glared back. "Maybe you did!"

"Well excuuuuse me!"

"Are you forgetting who's the evolved form here!?" I could practically see the sparks flying between them.

"They have NOT started off well..." I mumbled.

"It's called Evolutionary Rivalry." Grace helpfully explained. "Sometimes pokemon in the same evolutionary families will have a heated rivalry with each other."

"I think that's pretty clear here." Michael nodded.

Mels strode in between the two and held out her lit stick, making the two back away from each other. "Don't put that so close to me!" Namae snapped, though with a shaky voice, she obviously didn't like fire.

"Then stop acting stupid!" Mels retaliated.

Daniel rubbed the back of his head. "I've never seen a Braixen like you before...or, EVER in real life."

Mels just glared at him. "Good to know." She said before stomping off.

The Treecko turned back to us. "What did I say?"

"Alright, pokes, listen up!" Pokes? what is that, Mew? "Time for match two today! Any volunteers?"

"Me!" Chris raised a stubby wing. "About time I fought someone."

"Excellent! Anyone else?" No-one else volunteered, going up against Chris felt like writing your own death wish to me at least. I mean who in their rightmind would-

"I'm up for it!"...I stand corrected, LUKE would.

"Great! So it's Chris versus Luke! Onward!" So we took our accustomed positions.

"Go Luke! GOOOOOO!" Sarah cheered overenthusiastically.

"Welp, he's dead." Matt stated.

"For once, I agree with you." Lydia said.

"I can't watch!...Nah, I can totally watch." Liz joked.

Me? I was pretty worried about Luke, he seems to have a thing with riling Chris up. Even now he was chanting 'Mystery Dungeon' over and over again, making the Torchic's face go from orange to red. 'This is gonna get messy...'

"Annnnnnd begin! Ding! Ding!" Mew shouted.

Without hesitation Chris fired an Ember straight at Luke, majorly heating up where he previously was as he jumped to the side. "Missed me!" Luke jeered.

"He's digging his own grave." Harrison said grimly as Chris chased him, firing more and more Ember's from his beak.

"C-Chris can get...a l-little angry..." I think Janine just did the understatement of the year.

So far the battle was just Luke dodging Embers until Chris dived at him with a Peck, but Luke somersaulted out of the way, as Chris jabbed his beak into a tree. He pulled with his feet to try and get it out, but to no avail. "Mmph! Mm, Mph!" He cursed with his shut mouth.

"Alright! Now it's my turn!" Luke cheered before he started ramming Chris' defenceless body with multiple Tackles, whilst the Torchic couldn't defend himself at all.

"Yaaaaay Luuuuuke!" Sarah practically screamed.

"Wow, it actually looks like Luke has the advantage." Ray said.

Luke stopped abruptly. "I know I shouldn't do this...but I wanna!" And with that he opened his mouth wide and gave Chris a nasty Bite on the behind.

"MPPPHARRRGH!" Chris shouted in pain as he finally pulled his beak out of the tree, both pokemon toppled to the ground before getting up, I was surprised Chris could after taking so many hits.

Chris smirked at Luke with barely supressed rage. "Alright...now I'm pissed." He jumped at Luke and stabbed the ground where he was with his clawed feet. This time however he swiped with his other foot, cutting off a few strands of Luke's fur and barely missing his face.

"Phew!" Luke breathed, though he didn't have time for a second one as Chris came in for another diving Scratch, stabbing the ground again. Luke deliberately just hopped back before using Bite on his leg.

"Ffffff***!" Chris swore, before pecking him on the head to make him let go.

"Ouch!" Luke winced before he was hit by a curving Scratch, throwing him to the ground. Chris fired another Ember which Luke barely avoided by jumping back. The Poochyena charged with a Bite, but at the last second Chris jumped and stepped on his head, pushing Luke's face into the dirt and propelling himself into the air, before turning around and shooting an Ember which hit this time!

"This is getting intense!" Dalton said, totally glued to the battle.

"Yeowch! Hot! Very hot!" Luke panicked as he rolled on the ground to successfully smother the embers. "That was too close...looks like I gotta up my game!" Luke charged with a Tackle and Chris came at him with a Scratch, the two collided but just attacked again with the same moves! The third clash threw them both back.

"Damn it..." Chris winced as he fired another Ember, which Luke dodged yet again.

"Neener! Neener! You couldn't hit the side of a barn!" Luke taunted.

Well, Chris snapped.

"YOU ARE SO F****** DEAD YOU LITTLE BASTARD!" He roared as he fired another Ember, but this one was more powerful and caused an explosion as it hit.

"Woah! His attacks increased in power!" Harrison gasped as Dalton, Janine, Gael and Rei all hid behind a tree.

"Chris has activated Blaze through his anger." Grace explained calmly, unaffected by the new explosive Ember.

"That is so unfair!" Liz complained.

"THAT'S what your commenting on!?" I shouted in disbelief.

It went back to how it had gone at the start of the battle, only this time explosions shot out through the makeshift battlefield, creating costant new craters. "What is this!? A Michael Bay movie!?" I screamed over the noise.

Eventually the explosions settled down, the smoke finally cleared to reveal Chris and Luke, both panting heavily and both covered in soot.

"Hah...hah...I gotta admit...hah...you've got guts..." Chris panted. "But now...hah...I'm gonna finish it!"

"Hah...You can try!...Hah..." Luke panted with his tongue lolling.

Chris smirked...with a BEAK. "Time to wipe that cocky smirk off your face." The two charged, for what looked like the last time.

'This is it!' I thought as the two fighters drew closer and closer to each other.

"AHHHHHH!"

"AHHHHHH!" They were centimetres apart!

"WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU TWO!?" Out of nowhere Latias bonked them both on the head with her arms. "Do you REALISE how big an illusion I had to make to COVER UP THOSE F****** EXPLOSIONS!?"

"We're sorry..." Luke whimpered and Chris growled.

"Ohohohohooooo no! Your not getting off THAT easy!" She picked the two up and carried them off, fuming all the way.

All us stared in slack jawed disbelief until Cooper walked towards us. "Hey guys." He greeted us before whistling at the damage. "Those guys did a huge number here huh? So who won?...Guys?"

I must remember something...NEVER. Piss of Latias.
