As Princess Bubblegum watched as Snow flew away with her father off into the sunset, she made a decision: she will do everything in her power to set things right. On Princess Bubblegum's dress, still damp from melted snow, was Snow's blood from when Princess Bubblegum attacked her, no longer did she see the need for these petty dresses and cute attire. Knowing the mistake she made only fueled her determination to fix what went wrong. She had lost all sympathy in her eyes, along with the dirt and blood, she appeared dead, an empty shell of her former self. She seems to be frozen in time, staring at the now peaceful Candy Kingdom that has been blanketed by snow, as it even seems like a simple snow day with a calm and slightly cloudy sky blocking the sun, that would otherwise ruin the mood. She closed her now lifeless eyes and inhales the cold air as if trying to return her to her previous state of mind, trying to enjoy this seemingly peaceful moment before she continues with her resolve.

She turns around, now ready to forget about the tranquility despite the previous chain of events that occurred. The Princess slowly walked to the frozen fragments of Lady Rainicorn, and hugged the icy carcass as if saying goodbye for the last time. Without another moment of hesitation the Princess took hold of the carcass and dragged it to the edge of the broken structure. Inhaling slowly, she threw it off the side and turned the opposite way. She waited for a brief moment and heard what she was waiting for; the body of her previous friend had fallen to the ground and shattered like glass. It was unreal how a large body like Lady's can break into millions of pieces of ice and diamond like particles.

She turned around and stared at the one spot where the many pieces of her body was scattered felt little to nothing. Not even the Princess herself knows how she can do this without crying or even flinching at this odd, some would say, and immoral action. "I'm sorry, but I can no longer have any more distractions, I need to be a monster that will save everyone," she pauses briefly, "I will not let anyone else die from my mistakes." Princess Bubblegum takes a deep breath in and exhales as if letting go of whatever hesitation or doubts she might have. She turns away from the edge of the frozen monument and moves towards the hole where Finn should be, according to Snow. A million thoughts race through her mind, well they attempt to, but in the end fail to the Princess' determination. She jumps down the opening noticing it is her own room, now destroyed among other things. What she found was no surprise to her as she laid eyes upon what appeared to be a scorched carcass. The Princess walks over to the "thing" cautiously as if expecting to find some trap or it be a monster set on attacking her. Dismissing the thought she made her way to where it lay. Finally reaching the burned carcass, she kneels down and stares at its face, not trying to examine it, just stares at it as if it has the cure for all this misfortune.

She carefully caresses its face trying to see if maybe whatever it is, is still alive. "Finn? Are you alive Finn?" she asks thinking he may be alive, after dealing with FQ Finn should be tolerant of flames to a certain degree. Princess Bubblegum begins to feels tears forming in the back of her throat but holds them in, she cannot cry now. She laid her face on the charred body's chest and held it as if it was a mere baby, unable to even move itself without falling and hurting itself. "I'm sorry I couldn't protect you Finn" Princess Bubblegum tries to hold down her tear again, " I didn't know things would go this out of control, and even if it did I always thought you of all people would be able to handle everything, because you were my champion." Now as tears started to rush down the face of Princess Bubblegum she picked up her once great warrior and carried him to the doorway on her back and she saw for the first time what became of her once great domain. Frozen in place, as if time was frozen with it. She began to walk aimlessly almost captivated by this odd sight of even seeing her own soldiers frozen in mid sentence. She didn't know why she was doing this odd walk with a dead body on her back, but she felt it was necessary, as if it was Finn's last time in the castle and Princess bubblegum is just trying to let him enjoy it. They walked from one end of the castle to the next, from the dungeons, to the kitchen, to the throne room, and the strategy room, and finally to the door. In the hours that she was aimlessly walking, she failed to notice that the ice was finally thawed and her guards were freely able to move, and when she approached the gates of the castle to exit, but someone spoke up from behind.

"Princess!?" one of the banana guards hollered, "what are you carrying? We have been watching you carry it for the past hour. Do you need us to assist you in anyway?" The guards had no idea who was on the Princess' back, and she almost felt angry at them for it and nearly snapped at them. "Guard I want you to assemble all the citizens of the kingdom for a Royal announcement, we will honor a hero today." With a face of confusion and lose of words the guard questions her, "Ma'am who did we lose? What is going on?" Irritated, the princess did not feel like explaining the whole situation so she went with a simple and cursory explanation.

"A great one that protected me throughout the years, and while you are at it, get the architects, the castle needs rebuilding before it collapses on itself." With that the Princess walked past the dumbfounded guard, who still obeyed her orders, and decided to go the garden where she can lay Finn to rest for now before she can decide what the next course of action is. As she passed by the now active workers and soldiers of the castle, more and more murmur aroused as people noticed that the Princess was carrying around a dead body with her, not knowing what is going on. She reached the garden and managed to place Finn's lifeless body down on a bench before Peppermint Butler approached her.

"Princess, what is going on!? There has been talk about you carrying around what looks to be a burned body. I understand you experiment, but you plan to conduct these questionable experiments you must do so in secret. Otherwise the people will be frightened." His eyes flashed with fear as the Princess bore her lifeless eyes on him. It was a look in Princess Bubblegum's eyes that he has not seen in a long time, the look of something dying in her, a look of hatred, and a look of pure sadness.

"Peppermint Butler, do you know who I was carrying?" Peppermint Butler simply shakes his scared of the answer she will soon give him. "It is Finn, Peppermint, and he might be very well dead, a lot has happened since this morning, so much that it feels like years has passed up by and we have nothing to even show for it." Peppermint was frozen in place, he did not know how to take in any of the information that the Princess was giving him, so he just simply tried to comprehend the situation before he spoke. He stared at the charred body trying to understand how this happened when the Princess just left the kingdom an hour ago.

"Princess how did this happen. When did this happen?" Peppermint Butler said with a confused face filled with horror. The Princess kneeled down to the flowers and began to pick several flowers, all resembling roses, and place them on Finn's chest as seen in any funeral. The Princess simply ignored Peppermint Butler and went on her way, leaving Finn on the bench. Taking a stroll through the park, the Princess couldn't help but be amazed. The garden seemed simply untouched from its once frozen state. "It is fascinating how none of this was destroyed in the fight." She smiled and knelt down beside some flowers taking in their scent. Peppermint, finally recovering from his shock, ran over to her and put a hand on her shoulder.

"Princess," he paused slightly to confirm he has her attention, "Can you please tell me what happened here?"

"Finn found Snow, and the Ice King found out Snow wasn't in her room." The Princess said with empty tired eyes. Peppermint Butler was drawn aback by this, knowing that things could get ugly he began to understand a little more of the situation. But then how did Finn get burned? Peppermint Butler thought numbly

"Princess, I need to know everything," he paused for a moment "What exactly happened here and how did Finn get burned?" Peppermint Butler could not let his gaze leave the Princess who is simply collecting flowers mindlessly.

"The Ice King froze everyone and everything in the kingdom. When Finn, Princess Snowflake, and I arrived, we were knocked unconscious by Finn. When we came to, we rushed to the castle but what we saw was Finn fighting the Ice King, Jake frozen solid, or what was left of him and Lady Rainicorn's mutilated body in the same condition. Next thing we knew Finn blasted the Ice King destroying the roof of the castle." At this Peppermint Butler immediately looked up and realized what the commotion among the guards was about. The castle was destroyed, all the top floors are either gone or split in half. It's amazing how the lower floors weren't badly affected.

"Princess we need someone to repair the castle soon, we don't know how long it can stand!" Peppermint Butler said with the utmost urgency as more questions rang through his head. The Princess simply ignored him.

"We will have a memorial for Finn, something fitting for a hero." Peppermint Butler was getting slightly fed up with the Princess' mood, even though Finn is "dead". He grabs the princess by the shoulders and shakes her for a moment, trying to make her wake up and regain her senses.

"Princess, I do not fully understand the situation, but I do know that you are not well right now. You need to wake up; you have a kingdom to rule and issues to take care of. How do you expect to give Finn a memorial if you can only see the flowers and hear your own breaking mind?" The princess stared at him with slightly wide eyes, eyes that seemed like they aged for hundreds of years.

"I already have a guard looking for an architect to help with rebuilding and to also assemble the citizens." Princess Bubblegum said almost as if she was normal, except she still had a shaky and unstable voice. She gets off the floor and stares at the damage at the castle.

"Finn," she thought to herself, "Just how desperate were you to kill him? Did you just miss Jake and Lady fight him, or did you watch helplessly as they die?" She turned and went to Finn's body planting a kiss on his forehead.

"I don't know if I miss you right now or if I hate you for letting Lady die and whoever was caught in the blast." She whispered into his ear, as if trying to incite anger in him to make him react somehow. "Peppermint." The red and white butler looked at her waiting for her request. "Make sure that an architect is contacted and gets to work as soon as possible, and also try your best to get a memorial with the whole kingdom going. I want in front of the castle with reporters to broadcast it." Peppermint butler bowed in response. As he began to walk away from Princess Bubblegum, she called him one more time, to add to her list of commands.

"Peppermint?" Peppermint stopped and turn at her. "Yes, Princess?" Princess Bubblegum waited for a few moments to tell him her last request, something that she needs to do.

"I want you to call a meeting with all the royalties tomorrow, don't tell them for what… just tell them it is for the security of all kingdoms."

"And exactly what is this threat to security?" asked Peppermint Butler. The Princess now looked at him with eyes that he never really seen, eyes that the Princess herself probably did not even knew she had. In a matter of moments she changed from this broken demeanor to someone who has seen war, who has seen friends fall before her. She spoke slowly and calmly.

"I will find the Ice King and his daughter. I will kill them both even if I have to end up doing it myself, I will make them pay for everything that they have done." She was clenching her fists, as is remembering what they did to Princess Snowflake, how they pounded at her face, but she was still let go and even ran with her father. This one memory is almost as painful as the deaths of her close friends. She noticed that Peppermint Butler returned to her, to finish speaking to her.

"So how was it, seeing a being you literally made, something you can even call your daughter. The daughter you made and gave up for some peace?" Peppermint Butler said almost emotionally, as if to show concern and curiosity while making his venomous words become tainted with spite. She never saw Princess Snowflake as her daughter, just something she made, a clone made from her genes and the Ice King's genes.

"If she would not had been the daughter of the Ice King, and the cause of all this dread," she passed for a moment, "I would think she and Finn would be perfect for each other." Of all times, the Princess slightly blushes. As Peppermint Butler turns to leave the Princess and go about his orders, he turns his head to ask one final question.

"So ask yourself this Princess, did you lose a champion, or did you lose the one you loved but can't have? Think about that as you speak about him during his memorial." Peppermint Butler left the Princess in the garden shocked at his statement. Princess Bubblegum, now internally conflicted with so many emotions, looks up to the sky as if to ask the gods for guidance, for some form of an answer, to help her through these occurrences. "Daughter? Love?" Princess just thought of what these things meant, and contemplated what her true feelings were; the ones beyond her insatiable urge to kill the Ice King and his daughter, her daughter. She walked to Finn and picked him up again, slowly and cautiously as if she was handling eggs, and set him on her back.

"He is lighter than I thought" she said to herself. As she walked to the entrance of the garden, she thought she heard some mumbling. "Huh?" she looked around to see if there was a guard that was waiting for her, but there was no one there. She dismissed it and continued through the door, immediately leaving her internal conflict alone in the garden; it was like a switch was flipped, and now the Princess was ready to take action.

As she passed through the gate she saw several guards waiting at attention for her, and she knew it was Peppermint Butler's doing, he is overly reliable. They all had a better grasp of the situation, but they all had looks of sadness on them, some are still sobbing at the news. Then the commander of the guard, Root Beer Guy, came forward and saluted the Princess.

"Princess we have informed the populace to meet on the outskirts of the kingdom, everything will be in place for the memorial in exactly one hour. We will come and escort you when it is time to begin the memorial. Please leave the body to us, so we may prepare it as best as possible and so that you can have some time to rest." Root Beer Guy stood in his saluted stance until Princess Bubblegum gave his an "at ease" signal. However the Princess was not showing any signs of giving Finn's body up to the guards.

"Please, your majesty, we are not aiming to cause harm to the body, we just want to give it to the people who will give it the proper care. You look exhausted, please Princess, give us Finn, and grant yourself some sleep. It will help the people settle down during the memorial when they see that you are also calm and collected." Root Beer Guy stepped forward with his arms out signaling for Finn, yet the Princess still hesitated.

"I understand, just be careful, please, I don't want to give him a memorial that will pity him, he deserves nothing but respect and reverence." Root Beer Guy nodded, as nothing else was needed to be said. She finally hands Finn over, who is then put on a stretcher they had ready, and they carried him off somewhere, most likely the infirmary. Or the morgue thought the Princess. But she quickly dismissed that thought from her mind. The guards bid her well and went on to their next task, leaving the Princess alone to her own devices, mostly some rest. But then she remembered that her room was destroyed in the fight. She decided to simply go back to the garden and rest on a bench. As she approached the bench her exhaustion began to rapidly catch up with her. Within seconds of her coming in contact of the bench surrounded by the flowers and the occasional bird chirp, she fell asleep.

"Where am I?" The Princess thought. She was above the kingdom somehow floating, she was in a dream. The Princess watches as the people went on about their daily routines, overly happy as always. She felt a smile creepy on her face and admired her Kingdom. Then suddenly the skies turned dark with storm clouds and everything was frozen in place. Across the horizon she saw a giant Ice King eating the kingdom laughing like a madman. However, as he was going to eat the kingdom he ceased to laugh and yelled out in pain, contorting his face, shriveling up, and combusting until he was burnt out. The Princess tried to yell out but couldn't, she was frozen in place despite all the ice disappearing. But now she felt she was getting hotter and hotter. Eventually she felt like she was on fire, and she witness the Kingdom catch on fire and all the citizens running for their lives, even though it was pointless, they were all going to burn to death.

She began to cry as she felt the fire reach even her in the sky. She try to squirm and shake it off of her, but she was frozen in place, smothered by smoke, ice, and black fire. Then she felt someone grab her and hold her tight, and at this moment she felt herself become free of the ice and the flame. She turned her head to see it was Finn, alive and well and with that goofy smile he always has.

"I got you Princess," he smiled to her, "I would never let anything happen to you, I promise you that." The princess grabbed hold of him and hugged him, finally beginning to cry as if she was a child crying to its mother.

"Finn! I'm sorry, I couldn't do anything to save you! I couldn't do anything to save Jake or Lady!" the tears wouldn't stop and the Princess began to hiccup when she spoke. Finn pulled her in closer and patter her on the head, trying to calm her down.

"PB, it'll be okay, Ice King is gone, and Snow too, you can smile again." Finn then kissed her head, letting her know everything will be ok, nothing will ever be wrong again.

"Really?" Princess Bubblegum said as she raised her head to face Finn, but was shocked at what she saw. Finn's face went from his usual pale self and turned into dark charred skin with red cracks pulsing all over. His hair was completely burnt off and his teeth were either missing or melted down into the gums. His tongue turned flaky, like his skin, and lazily moved around. His eyes turned black with bright red, contracted pupils.

"What's wrong Princess" Finn said with an ashy and raspy voice that sounded like some demented being.

"Don't be scared of the fire" Finn said forming a fireball in his hand, bringing it to Bubblegum's face. She could not move, frozen with fear, disgust, and dread. She just let him bring the flame to her face.

The Princess flung up on the bench breathing hard and panting. She wiped her forehead and noticed that she was in a cold sweat. "It was just a dream?" the Princess said out loud. She was still in a daze, not completely aware of her surroundings. The Princess clawed at the air around her, unsure of what is real and what isn't. She looked around trying to fully grasp reality and noticed three guards enter the garden coming to escort her. Managing to calm down and compose herself before they noticed she was out of breath and was sweating.

"Your Majesty, is everything ok?" they asked out of genuine concern.

"Yes, I just had a dream, everything is fine." She got up from the bench and went with the guards and exited the garden. What was that? She thought. As she walked with the guards she noticed the workers all dressed up in some more presentable clothes, all black. It was for a funeral, it was for Finn's memorial, his funeral. No one gazed her way, either because they were saddened by the news of the death of another hero, or because they did not want to bother the Princess with their worried looks.

As she exited form the castle, she saw its sad state of destruction and the amount of repair that was needed, and the research that was destroyed in the fight that would need to be tested again and again. The walk was silent, as none of the guards would start a conversation, and the Princess was the same, the atmosphere was very thick and awkward. Even more so outside of the castle. Princess Bubblegum saw a few citizens walking to the gates of the Kingdom for the memorial, and they only helped to agitate the dark mood of the kingdom.

The Princess started to think of things to say, of all the things that needed to be said and remember by her and the people of all the kingdoms. She needed people to know what happened and what needed to be done.

Finally they had reached the memorial site, where Finn was in a casket on a large stage. The Princess was escorted up and took a seat down closest to the casket. Finn was still burnt, but it seem as if his skin was less irritated and he seem more clean, as clean as a brunt body can get. Again Bubbelgum heard low mumbling, yet she ignored it for the second time, thinking it is just her imagination or the people in front of her. She saw some guards speak with Root Beer Guy, him nodding, responding, and going for the microphone. The memorial was going to start.

"I'm sure many of you are wondering, what just happened, and this cannot be happening. But, although it is a great tragedy that none of use foresaw, it did happen. Our hero, Finn the Human, died in battle, protecting all of us without any of us even realizing it. However, Princess Bubblegum does know what happened, she does know that Finn sacrificed himself. At this moment I would like all to listen to the Princess." Root Beer Guy steps aside signaling the Princess over. She comes to the stand and holds the microphone, now knowing what she needs to say.

"Today, Finn the Human, has died. My champion and my friend fought for all of us, but for all of you to understand how he died, you all must know the truth," but not the whole truth she thought, "he was fighting the Ice King." At this some murmuring ensued but it was quickly finished.

"The Ice King went on a rampage and froze the Candy Kingdom along with some areas of the grasslands. The only reason I was not frozen was because I went to speak to Finn personally of a different matter. He noticed, however, that something was wrong with the temperature and went ot investigate. What we saw was the Kingdom in a snow storm, and we somehow managed to invade it. Finn then knocked me unconscious in order to protect me. When I came to and came to the castle, where the storm was centered, I saw Finn fighting the Ice King," she paused for a moment at this part, " I saw the frozen mutilated bodies of Jake, Finn's brother, and my best friend, Lady Rainicorn. Finn tried to kill him, which resulted in the destruction of the castle, but it had little effect. He was forced o sacrifice himself to kill the Ice King. He burned himself in the hopes that the Ice King would die, but it did not work, the Ice King lived, barely, and fled. This was a man that put the safety of everyone else before him. He gave up his life because he thought he could save all of your lives, and he did, because if he had not defeated the Ice King, we would all had been dead. I want everyone to know that this was the type of person that Finn was, he would do anything for his friends, anything for justice. He even went as far as defying his alignment to save our lives. Thank you." The Princess stepped down and there was a dead round of applause.

At this point the Princess began to stare off into the distance, and by the time she snapped out of her daze, she noticed people were putting flowers on Finn. Again, she heard some kind of mumbling, but she it was louder this time.

"It can't be." She got up off her seat and went to Finn, with some people moving to the side with faces of concern. The Princess, with great urgency, put her ears to Finn's mouth and heard noise, she heard him mumble.

"Guards he isn't dead, get a medic, he need treatment now!" Princess yelled at the top of her lungs and everyone's faces swung up to look at her. As guards began to lift the casket Finn's body began to wiggle. Then suddenly his eyes bursted open and he screamed at the top of his lungs, his voice filled with fear and pain.

"HELP ME! PLEASE! MAKE IT STOP!"

Finn: Dude, WTF, I thought you wanted this as a fucking romance, not some depressing ass story.

Ecstasy: Ya I did at first, then somehow things happened and it just shaped out this way .
