Welcome to the Phantomhive's

Hey guys! I'm glad you're still with me.

I will be making it to the end of this fic. Here's a little sneak peak at what I have planned.

"Welcome to the Phantomhive's."

"Maybe some sort of play or movie parody." Haven't decided on which one.

"The brainwashing episodes."

"Sebastian's tantrums."

"And coming to where the anime ends."

Yes, I do have plans for a third installment. But for now, let's get on with this one.

xxx

Blue birds perched gleefully to a fountain statue, preparing to bask their wings in a well deserved bath. "BLAST IT ALL TO HELL!" The Phantomhive Manor was quaked in the early morning. The birds puffed in a panic, falling like rocks to the ground. "I CAN'T BELIEVE WHAT TIME IT IS!" The rampage emanated from Ciel's room, but the yelling came from Alliahnna. With good reason. It was 10:00am. Well, falling on 10:00am. And a soiree a week in planning and making was expected to receive the guest of honor at 10:30.

"Of all the times to sleep in! I can't believe it was on someone's birthday!" Alliahnna wrestled with her camisole dress behind the dividers in the corner. She emerged with her long hair wrapped askew. "Lizzie's friend is going to be here any minute!" She rifled through the piles of dresses Mey-Rin helped her pick out for the occasion. One would need to be for the day, and then a more formal gown for later in the evening. "We'll be pulling it close!"

"Why didn't Sebastian awaken us sooner?!" Ciel frothed at the mouth, storming about in a long white shirt. He angrily weighed options between his usual blue suit between a casual grey and brown suit. That was a small headache compared to choosing what he'd wear later in the evening. "I specifically told him to awaken us at 7:00! No later!"

"It couldn't be helped!" Alliahnna gave the final verdict on what he should wear. She chose the grey and brown. "We didn't get home until two in the morning, so Sebastian wanted us to get some sleep while he helps with the rest of the preparations."

"Goodie us!" He picked a grey and brown casual dress for her.

The departure from Paris didn't necessarily have the leave at the break of dawn dramatic exit Ciel, Alliahnna, and Sebastian wanted. To sum up their last night, Schneizel saw to it the coroner treated Myer's corpse with the utmost pride and dignity a member of his guard deserved. In spite of his traitorous actions, Schneizel will not allow any misgivings on anyone's final moments on this earth. Alliahnna helped Phoebus in breaking the news to Myer's family. His only surviving member was a sister. To say she took the news hard was an understatement. When asked what befell him, Alliahnna said Francois perished defending his honor. To most, that is a vague description. For the sister, however, it suited her well. Personal honor was all Myers cared for, and she knew it would get him killed one day. Phoebus thanked Alliahnna for the save, but wished he could have told the truth. Alliahnna understood. She'd rather hear the truth about her brother as well. However, any older sister would rather hear a lie than know her brother was a traitor.

Proceeding to later events, Myers funeral was to be held in three days. He was going to be cremated and kept by his sister. Ciel, Sebastian, and Alliahnna wished they could stay. Unfortunately, an engagement demanded their attention back home. A close friend to Elizabeth was having a birthday soon. Elizabeth volunteered Ciel and Alliahnna to be the hosts of the surprise party she wants to throw her. Of course, Ciel and Alliahnna learned of this party planning during their family drama and damn near forgot all about it. Lydia returned from errands she was running with Esmeralda in time to procure them a ship leaving for England. Although, it wouldn't be until later in the evening. With high winds and clear oceans, they'd make it back to England long before sunrise. Her prediction was true, but came at a price.

Ciel and Alliahnna slept like logs and just barely awoke an honor ago to Finnian breaking trees for firewood. Which brings them to scrambling to get ready. Much of the manor was prepared for Elizabeth's friends arrival. Tanaka is a very capable butler in Sebastian's stead. Thanks to him, the manor was still in one piece. Sebastian helped set the rest of the horderves and beverages, and saw to last minute decorations. He also saw to the schedule Tanaka prepared. It was sound. They might pull this out of the woods yet.

"Who is this friend of Elizabeth's?" Ciel inquired, helping Alliahnna with her corset. She thrust her head back on the sharp tug of the strings. Precisely why she hates dresses. However...it might just be her imagination...but the corset felt awkward. She touched her stomach. "Have you met her?"

"No. I only know OF her through Lizzie." Alliahnna turned around and helped Ciel the garters to his vest and undershirt, bringing them to his socks. "Her name is Arna Doran. Lizzie said she met her briefly during a trip in Italy. Only a month ago did the two reunite at a ball."

"What was was she doing in Italy?" Ciel helped her into her dress. He quickly fastened the laces on the back.

"Lizzie was pursuing her dream as a fashion designer." Ciel was stunned by this news. He had no idea she'd pursue that field. Then again, it made sense. Elizabeth was always experimenting with color schemes and patterns. "Naturally, her dream took her to Italy. Their quality of fabrics and accessories are several cuts above the rest."

"Don't let our tailors ever hear you say that?" Ciel snorted. He helped Alliahnna with the ruffles at her elbow stunted cuffs, and at the V dip of the collar. The corset piece of the dress required three ribbon ties to help hold the dress figure. "Should the day come when they realize foreigners do a better job…" He shuddered. That's one riot he'll stay home for.

"I hear that…" Alliahnna slipped on his pants and fastened his belts and necktie. "People can become so petty when matched against competition."

"Indeed." The twins slipped their feet into their shoes. They tapped the toes on the ground, smoothed their clothes, and gave each other a once over. The pair hummed as if they'd forgotten something important. "Hair!" They both blurted. Ciel's was the easier of the two. Alliahnna brushed his hair smooth, and applied a cream to help hold it in place. Alliahnna's hair was a moderate challenge. Ciel managed to tie half the hair up, secured it with a floral hair stick, left strands hanging at the front, and brushed the remaining hairs down. Check, check, and…"DONE!" The pair flashed two fingers. They were ready to tackle the day.

"Remember, today is a surprise for Arna." Alliahnna whispered playfully, winking at Ciel. "Our goal is to keep her from the ballroom at all times until this evening."

"I'm well aware of the plan!" Ciel huffed with flushed cheeks. Alliahnna always treated him like a baby. "Just make sure you play your part as well."

"You know me." She fixed his tie again. "Ever the faithful thespian." She tilted her head with a smile. Ciel sighed dully. The way she says things with a straight face.

Snaps and neighs drew them to the large window. A carriage was pulling up to the manor. Looks like their time was up. "Pardon me My Lord and Lady." Knocks at the door followed with Sebastian's entry. The pair situated themselves properly. "Oh good. You both are ready." He chimed. Ciel kept to his natural grim exterior while Alliahnna welcomed him with a smile. Sebastian placed a hand to his chin, snickering adoringly. "And quite the remarkable pair I might add. How adorable it is that you both like to match."

"Didn't you say our guest arrived?!" Ciel curtly digressed the conversation. Sebastian saw the pink tint in his cheeks.

Alliahnna pat Ciel on the shoulder. "Have preparations for the ball been completed?" She asked the butler.

"They have." Sebastian bowed affirmingly. "We mere wait upon refreshments, and our guest of honor."

"Then let us not keep her waiting." Ciel declared. He marched into the hallway.

Sebastian bowed at his master's exit and turned to follow. He paused and glanced back, noting Alliahnna's despondent expression. Her hand was pressed to her stomach cryptically. "Alliahnna?" She jumped when he got so close. "Is everything alright?" He reached for the dress. "Do you require assistance?"

"UH! NO!" She staggered just out of his reach. Her retreat baffled him. She blushed beratingly at herself. He's going to know something's wrong for sure. "I...mean...no-thank you!" She twisted anxiously, grinning sheepishly. "I've just...grown unaccustomed to corsets!" Sebastian tilted his head confusedly. Alliahnna angrily puffed her. Grown unaccustomed to corsets? REALLY?

"Wouldn't you need to be accustomed to something in order to grow unaccustomed?" Sebastian teased. "For example…" He traced two fingers up her stomach, fiddling with the ruffles at her chest. He leaned in, bringing his lips to her ear, "Dresses are starting to suit you, but I am unaccustomed to not seeing your lovely legs." Alliahnna cringed, turning red as a tomato. He chuckled in her ear. Sometimes it was too easy. She winced when he bit her earlobe. She grasped his elbows, trying to push him off. Sebastian pressed his luck by licking her ear, then trailing it to the crook of her neck. He earned several shivering whimpers. "I am most pleased you are unaccustomed to my playing. Our nights would be boring."

"Come on! Knock it off!" She pushed him back by the chest. She turned redder at his smirk. "S-Stop teasing me, already!"

"Teasing? Why whatever do you mean?" Sebastian gasped, feigning ignorance. That sadistic smile of his sent chills down her spine. "When have I ever teased you?"

"You do it all the time! You're doing it right now!" She snarled. Her voice quaked to stay leveled.

"No I'm not. I'm merely making a factual observation." He twisted a strand of her hair between his fingers. "For you to misconstrue that as teasing…" He placed a hand to the wall behind her, cupping her chin as he moved in close, "I think you're being the tease."

"I don't tease people!" She blurted.

"You're teasing me right now."

"O-Only because-wait! How am I teasing you?" She wasn't walking into his trap that easily! He was the instigator and he knows it. She can see it on his smug face.

"AHEM!" Sebastian and Alliahnna cringed. Drops of sweat hung to their heads. They laughed nervously glancing to the door, then were in fear of their lives. Ciel's mood was fouled by their shameless play. An aura rivaling a demon's emanated around him. The glare in his eye made knives cry in humiliation. "We have a guest on the approach who is waiting to be greeted in a manner proper to the name of our family! If you both wish to tumble about shamefully, please do so after we've entertained her!" Sebastian and Alliahnna laughed nervously. They suppose, from where Ciel is standing, it appears as if they are doing something scandalous. When they thought about it, they were being rude taking time for themselves during another's special day. Even if that day holds a secret. Alliahnna and Sebastian laughed amongst one another, finding their predicament humorous in a way.

Ciel stormed off in embarrassment of their crass behavior. He kept the pace stunted to see if they'd actually follow. Alliahnna took the brief moment and snuck a kiss to Sebastian's cheek. He was taken aback by the gesture, baffled by what brought it on.

She put on her best rosy smile, winking to him, "And that will be all until we've entertained our guest." Sebastian gawked wide mouthed. Then he released a dreary sigh. "NOW I am teasing you! You like?"

"I do not!" He huffed.

"Then victory is mine~" She sang, skipping after Ciel.

"And revenge shall be mine." He vowed.

True to form, Sebastian was the first to be at the front porch to greet Elizabeth and her mysterious friend upon their arrival to the manor. Ciel and Alliahnna, meandering arm in arm to the stoop, they grunted irritably at his smug grin. Full fledge demon butler - what a cheater. At the very least he could have showed some dignity and escorted his two masters. Alliahnna showed restraint. It's difficult being the mature demon of the household. Oh well. Ciel was counting on this day running smoothly, swiftly, and with little migraine arousals.

The carriage was steadied to a halt. To everyone's surprise, Paula was seen in the carriage. A lovely surprise. Paula was - is - a wonderful person. Jasper's sure taken a liking to her. Though his pride won't let him admit it's beyond platonic. Rather odd that he and Jasper hadn't shown up yet. Elizabeth was hoping they'd join them for the evening. She's also the best maid and friend Elizabeth's had. When Ciel and Alliahnna vanished, Paula was always there beside her.

"CIEL! CIEL! CIEL~" Elizabeth tackled Ciel with one of her signature hugs. Luckily his legs and back were ready to catch her. She had the strength of a rhinoceros. Even Alliahnna was no match for the iron hugs of Elizabeth. Not that she tried to fight. She only squeezes tighter.

(Arna POV)

Hearing Elizabeth squeal her beloved's name was quite adorable. She is quite the Jekyll and Hyde when . Calm, polite, and conversational whilst inside the carriage. Hyper, eccentric, and wild when in the presence of this Ciel. Ciel Phantomhive, I am assuming. The Earl of the estate. He must be quite the accomplished man to have Elizabeth so enthralled with him. Although, in matters of her character judgement, Elizabeth should not serve as a reference of people. She is not as perceptive or conservative as her family would have their name project.

"We've been expecting you." I was taken aback, thrust into a dreamlike daze. The aid at the carriage door. He was handsome beyond human measure. And his voice..."Lady Arna Doran, is that correct?" He's gentle when he speaks. Charismatic and charming as well. I find him interesting. Clearly Lord Phantomhive employs high quality staff. At first blush, anyway.

"Yes…" I bow my head.

"Please. Allow me, Miss." He offered me his hand. I graciously accepted. He tenderly wrapped his fingers to my palm, balancing me as I step to the stone ground.

Being able to gaze upon the Phantomhive Manor on the other side of a carriage window was definitely a treat I savored. The ancestral home said to be decimated by a blaze was a sight to behold. The perfectly aged foundation adding a rich yet mysterious history to the land tickles one's curiosity. However, the surprise at my hosts trumped the ancestral home.

I have heard rumors and tales of the Phantomhive Twins. Two cut throat nobles - one said to be a master strategist, and the other a tactful swordsman - that govern England in the shadows. By their reputations alone, one would envision two fully grown individuals. But only when I see them in person do I find myself screaming doubts, and mild disappointment. They are children! Two perfectly symmetrical figures, matching head to toe in superficial and attire schemes, standing arm in arm with welcoming expressions.

These two children...are the feared Guard Dogs of the Queen?

"Allow me to introduce you, Dear." Elizabeth proposed. Ciel and Alliahnna meandered to either side of Elizabeth, properly welcoming their new guest. "Here they are. Presenting Ciel - Earl - Phantomhive, and his sister Alliahnna - Earless - Phantomhive."

Ciel and Alliahnna were remarkable with their pokerfaces. Their astonishment by the woman was hard to suppress. They have to admit, they're surprised someone with such an elegant air about her took a liking to Elizabeth. Her stature was apparent when she stepped from the carriage. How gracefully her feet glided to the stone, carrying hardly a sound. The flow of her dress matching to fluid movements of her person. And the radiance projecting from her commanded a certain...royalty. Not to sell Elizabeth short. Most just find her cherub antics, and eccentric personality off putting. This woman seemed fine with it. She might prove to be as interesting as the company she keeps.

"Ciel, Alliahnna - meet Arna Doran. My Friend from Italy and the second daughter of Mario Doran." Elizabeth bubbly proceeded.

Elizabeth's friend - Arna - definitely had a unique fashion sense. Much like Elizabeth herself. Her pink bonnet went adorably with her pink and red dress. The baggy wrap around on the skirt added bounce to her wardrobe. Alliahnna found it a shame, though, she was hiding beautiful brown hair under the bonnet. Luckily for her, she was blessed with beaming hazel eyes.

"Lizzie's told us so much about you." Alliahnna bowed her head to their guest. Ciel followed suit. "We're pleased to finally put a face to a name."

"It is an honor to meet you both, Lord and Lady." Arna curtsied. Her perplexed expression didn't go unnoticed. Head to toe, they are not at all what she was expecting. She scrunched her nose at the slight disappointment the two presented.

Ciel chuckled at her blatant expression. "Reports of our age are vastly exaggerated." He and Aliahnna smirked at her, making her blush. She's being rude. And obvious. "No need to be embarrassed. You are not the first to be taken aback by us. Children don't have our sort of reputations. Be they in their 20's or adolescence." This only made Arna blush redden. She's more obvious than she realized.

"Ciel! Alliahnna! This is the friend I've told you about in my letters!" Elizabeth beamed, bouncing their hands excitedly. "We met again at a ball last month and I HAD to introduce you both to her!" That was transparent. Given that, in her letter, Elizabeth threatened to bombard their house in pink confetti and paint if they missed the engagement she planned. This new friend of hers left quite the impression. "I took an instant liking to her and felt SURE you both would enjoy her just as much as I do." In other words, they better enjoy her or Lizzie would make their lives a living nightmare. "So I invited her here this afternoon."

Ciel and Alliahnna exhaled in defeat. There's no turning back, or denying Elizabeth now. Their latest conflict was at their doorstep. "Honestly…" Ciel sighed, sinking his shoulders, "Whatever is an Earl to do with you?" Ciel plastered his most sincere smile to his face. What chore it is for him. Alliahnna could barely hide how moved she was his face didn't shatter. "Welcome to our estate, Miss Doran. I hope that you will find tonight's ball a wonderful experience."

"Thank you for having me, Lord Phantomhive." Arna curtsied again. "Please forgive any imposition I offer."

"Don't be silly. You are no imposition." Ciel shook his head. Alliahnna knit her brow with a shaded smirk. What a perfect mask. "Sebastian. See that she has everything she needs."

"Certainly, My Lord." Sebastian bowed humbly. He turned to Arna, pouring his charm for their honored guest. "Please to make your acquaintance. Sebastian Michaelis - butler to the Phantomhives. I am at your service." Arna nodded her head to him gratefully. She has to admit, he is quite handsome. "We pride ourselves on hospitality. We shall offer every comfort." He promised her. He stepped to the side, gesturing to the home she will be hosted in. "Welcome the the Phantomhive manor."

xxx

(Arna POV)

Stunning! Simply stunning! The Manor was breathtaking outside. That only belied the true splendor within. Instead of an enclosing sense when normally entering a home, the checkered tile foyer broadened my senses. The gorgeous, custom crafted chandelier that greets you and captures your eye. The decor would appear commonplace at first glance. But a closer look, seeing past the shell the immediate atmosphere presents, and you can see the decades of care and nurturing that went into maintaining it. Truly, tha Phantomhives devoted their livelihoods to ensuring their home, their new home, would be able to stand tall and proud for the new decades to come. A shame that I will be forced to tarnish this place with the blood of its Lord. And quite possibly its Lady.

In the meantime, I will endure a tour with the handsome butler of this estate. Listening to him prattle on about the history of the home seems to please him. While I do find most of it interesting, it will all be meaningless before the night is over. Still, I do enjoy his company. Although, I am curious as to why Elizabeth invited me to a common ball tonight. What could she be planning in that curly blond head of hers? More importantly, where has my friend and her noble counterparts gotten off to?

(POV End)

"Honestly, Lizzie! You just dropped this one on us like a sack of bricks!" Alliahnna scolded Elizabeth in her room. Ciel was equally frustrated with his fiancee. Elizabeth pouted like a puppy. Had she a pair of ears they'd be drooping right now. Paula shared her dismay.

Granted, Elizabeth affirmed a week in advance of a gathering that she wished to have for a friend of hers sometime during the month. That much Ciel and Alliahnna were made aware of. HOWEVER, nowhere in Elizabeth's letters did she say she wished for it to be a ball. OR SURPRISE BIRTHDAY PARTY! That piece of neglected information wasn't relayed until a day ago while they were still in Paris. Thank goodness for Mr. Tanaka. He ensured arrangements for the surprise party got underway smoothly. That still doesn't erase the trouble Elizabeth caused them with her lack of warning. She's just lucky Tanaka was able to find caterers to deliver treats and beverages last minute. As for the cake, well, that would fall on them. Hopefully it will be ready by the time the party is scheduled to begin.

"We appreciate that she's your friend an all," Ciel continued to lecture her harshly, "But you cannot simply decide to host a party on a whim like this! Especially whilst we are away!" He doesn't appreciate strangers trampling his home while he is away. Too often do thieves disguise themselves as workers and rob noble houses blind.

"I know! And I apologize!" Elizabeth wailed, activating the tears to earn sympathy. It wasn't working. "But Arna was going to return to Venice soon and I HAD to throw her this party!" She hoped they would understand. She was pouring on her whiny voice enough. Arna literally dropped a sack of bricks on her as well. She was asked to come home by her father so they may visit with a business partner. "She's been ever so kind to me! The least I could do was celebrate her birthday."

"We aren't angry at you for that!" Alliahnna snarled. A vein throbbed in her head at Elizabeth's fake sniveling. It may work in a crowd, but not when it's just them and Paula. "We're angry because this isn't something we were expecting to deal with first thing in the morning!"

"I'm sorry…" Elizabeth moaned, sinking miserably. She heard about Myers and Phoebus. She's sad to hear Myers betrayed Schneizel. Even more so that Phoebus had to be the one that killed him. What a dangerous life the knight of the count lead. "But...you both have to know…" Elizabeth cupped her hands together, tilting her head with a rosy cheeked smile, "I didn't propose this party for just Arna. I did it in hope of celebrating the two of you."

"Us?" The two exchanged bewildered glances. "Our birthday isn't for a while, still." Ciel informed her. Elizabeth knows their birthday isn't for another month or so.

"No! No! Not your birthdays! I mean YOU!" She joined her beloved twins at the hand. Joy and sorrow glossed her eyes. "I was dreadfully scared you both wouldn't make up, and would part on the sourest of terms." Ciel and Alliahnna's eyes widened. A similar woe sank their heads to their shoulders. All the excitement the past couple of days made them forget. The last time Alliahnna and Ciel argued as heatedly as they did, Alliahnna ended up leaving with the intention of no longer associating with Ciel or the House. The two were so engrossed with their own drama and feelings, they never once considered the feelings of Elizabeth or the others. "Tonight's ball is about more than just one friend's birthday. It is about my oldest and dearest of friends reuniting."

"Lizzie…" Alliahnna felt a tear coming on.

"We're sorry to have concerned you." Ciel moaned.

"Don't be." Elizabeth wrapped them both in an embrace. "I'm just glad you both will be together from now on." The obscure truths from her dream caused a pain to pinch their hearts. For now, they returned her hug, promising to stay with her for as long as humanly possible. And demonly.

BOOM! The manor quaked. The trio squeaked and cowered closer together. The whole room felt like it would collapse in on itself. When the shaking stopped, the three peered to the ceiling searching for cracks or damage. Thankfully there was nothing. But that explosion.

An odd aroma caught Ciel's nose. "Do you smell something burning?" He wondered what could be burning.

"OH NO!" Alliahnna smacked a palm to her face. "Bardroy! He got a new burner and hasn't become accustomed to it!"

"WHAT?!" Ciel gasped.

"He chose NOW to break it in?!" Elizabeth's curls bounced. "What about the cake?!"

"The cake is fine! We have it read! It just needs final touches!" Alliahnna promised, earning pleased breaths from the pair. "I'll go make sure nothing's damaged. Ciel, why don't you find Tanaka and see to the arriving guests?"

"Sounds like a plan." Ciel nodded. He marched for the foyer.

"Paula, help Lizzie get settled in. I'll be back shortly."

"Yes, My Lady." Paula proceeded to unpack the rest of Lizzie's bags.

"Lizzie. If you'll excuse me." Alliahnna turned on her heels, racing for the kitchen.

Elizabeth adored it when Ciel and Alliahnna compromised. It's like watching mirrors argue with one another. "I wonder if she's told Sebastian or Ciel about the baby yet?"

xxx

"GRR!" Alliahnna snarled at her dress tangling her legs. This is why she hates these confounded contraptions. Their sole purpose is to limit movements. She stumbled too often trying to hold it above her feet. "Dammit, Bard! If you destroy the manor, I swear you'll be baked into a cake yourself!" Her shoe snagged on her dress. Alliahnna stumbled forward. Arms reached from the blue and caught her.

"Look at this. An angel has landed in my arms." Zanosuke chuckled teasingly.

Jasper leaned to the corner, sniggering at Alliahnna's flustered expression. "And she looks ravishing in a dress."

"Jasper! Zanosuke!" She cheered. Zanosuke helped her to her feet. She fixed her dress. "It's good to see you both. Lizzie was actually wondering if you'd drop by."

"Ah yes! There's a ball tonight." Jasper heard whispers of it. And he and Zanosuke might have stumbled upon an invitation written to them. By accident, but accepted all the same. "We might stay for cake." Alliahnna was happy to hear that. "Unfortunately...the ball is not what brings us here today."

"What do you mean?" Alliahnna rare sees these two in sour moods. Something awful must be afoot. "Did something happen?"

"We're afraid so…" Zanosuke sank.

(Arna POV)

WELL! This certainly isn't at all what I expected when I was invited to a ball. If I am being frank, I was expecting the highlight of my time to be filled with the drole history lessons of the family by the butler. The room I was assigned was indeed lovely. There were photos of the late Lord and Lady on the mantel. The butler resembled the Late Lord to a Tee. That solicited him to regale me on the back story of the home. Listening to him go on and on about how the Phantomhive's were beloved by all, trusted by the Queen, and such and such. For a dashing young man, he is filled with boring knowledge. Though, I suppose I can't blame him. Butlers, maids, and servants are required to know an iota of the family they serve. The way he divulged the history to me though. He sounds as if he's done it so any times that it's commonplace. Thank goodness for that explosion.

Sebastian asked for me to remain where I was while he investigates. No that it was necessary. He seemed to know what caused it. My impetuous curiosity drove me to follow him. A fruitful quirk of mine. This will make my jaunt about the manor more swift, and decrease my chances of being turned around or spotted. I have yet to learn where my target's area of preference is. This might prove beneficial to my mission.

Following the butler, I heard fervent cries coming from a hallway. By the abundance of smells, I assumed I was nearing the kitchen. The moment I arrived, Sebastian saw me and tackled me to the ground just as another explosion caused a raging inferno. That inferno led it to me being introduced to Lord Phantomhive's comical kitchen staff. These three are rather...strange and quite the polar opposite of Sebastian. I wonder how these three came to be under Lord and Lady Phantomhive's employ. And there's that Mr. Tanaka fellow. Praises of his work around the manor are definitely expressed. So I understand him. But why these three.

The excitement, however, did not spare me a scolding when the butler escorted me back to my room. The butler turned a page and was quite...unnerving. He spoke boldly to me, remarking on my inconsideration at following him. It got to me. While I have a mission, this was a blunder on my part. I assured him my curiosity got the better of me and pleaded for him not to be upset. Although, when he called me young, I wondered how old he could possibly be. He decided to continue to feed my curiosity and offered me a tour before tea. Just as I had hoped.

The number of odd associates of the Phantomhive's only continued to increase. Coming to the recreational room, I had the pleasure of meeting President Lao, and his Cousin Ran-Mao, of the English branch of the Chinese Trading Company, Kun-Lun. He was a very passive aggressive and quite the sneaky man. He seemed the sort who would tempt your shirt of your back if you aren't careful. His cousin, on the other hand, was a silent and devious minx. She was looking at Lao's cards while he was entertaining me with a verbatim explanation of the room Sebastian provided.

Sebastian was all too eager to escort me to the library, which he clarified was the pride of the Phantomhive estate. What I found most interesting was that each one was gathered by the heads of the Phantomhives. Even Lord and Lady Phantomhive have added their own brand of knowledge to the collection. He assured me the library would rival any University. Oxford might be green with envy.

The education ceased when a paper craft of sorts flew into his forehead. He seemed quite irked.

xxx

"PERFECT TIMING!" Sebastian winced annoyed by the Indian Prince running up to him. "I was growing ever so bored." Soma laughed, retrieving his origami craft.

"Please, Prince Soma!" Agni rushed to his Prince, begging him for a moment of seriousness. "We must return to your studies!"

"Agni! Everyone deserves a break now and then." Soma whined.

"And it seems you've been studying quite diligently." Sebastian commented sarcastically. The torn page in the book he was holding spoke to that.

"OH! Here you all are."

"Alliahnna!" Soma cheered, blushing like a lovesick puppy.

Alliahnna slowed her jog, holding her chest as she panted. "I'm glad I found you…"

"I am pleased you've come by to visit me!" Soma shoved past Sebastian. The butler's brow bounced irately. He still hasn't gotten the message. He and Grell share similar traits in this. "Would you care to distract me for a moment?" He tempted her.

Alliahnna spotted the ripped page, and linked it to the paper on the floor. She pinched it by the nose, tapping it to Soma's dense forehead. "I don't recall dabbling in origami being part of your regime."

"It is not." Soma plucked the craft from her. He set it to her head. Like a silly hat. Alliahnna ignored the childish antic. Too distracted by Soma's gushing. "I just decided to take a break."

"Was that before or after the first page of the book you've barely cracked?" She tapped her family's book. Soma laughed nervously. Agni bowed his head apologetically. He'll afford her every effort to fix it. "Soma!" She stomped her foot. Ven popped in her head. Soma, Agni, and Arna flinched. Dread lines and sweat drops clung to their faces. Sebastian was moderately unaffected. "Ciel and I agreed to let you stay here provided you behaved! Remember how you were kicked evicted from the Inn you were lodging in?" Sebastian turned his back, trying not to burst into laughter.

"How was I supposed to know that woman was wearing a wig?"

Alliahnna knocked her fist on his head. "That's not the point!" Soma dropped, whimpering and holding his head. Arna was absolutely shocked. She's treating a Prince like a child. How bold. "Arna, I am sorry you have to witness this."

"N-no! That's quite alright!" Arna broke into a blush.

"Oh dear! How could I forget my manners?!" Sebastian cursed himself. He cleared his throat. "Prince Soma, Agni - this is a friend to Lady Elizabeth. Lady Arna Doran."

"Y-Your Highness!" Arna anxiously curtsied. She's never met a real Prince before.

"She will be joining us at the ball this evening." Sebastian announced. "My Lady, please allow me to introduce the 26th child of the King of Bengal. Prince Soma Asman Kadar." 26 CHILDREN?! The King of Bengal has quite the labido. "Beside him is his very capable butler, Agni."

"Beautiful…" Soma fawned. A dreamy gaze in his eyes, and a blush to his cheeks. Alliahnna and Sebastian were taken aback. "HELLO, MISS! I am Prince Soma!" He blurted, pushing Alliahnna and Sebastian aside. "I fancied you IMMEDIATELY! Would you be my handmaiden?" Arna was astonished by his boldness. Soam retreated shyly, diverting his gaze between the ceiling and floor. "Or...if you prefer...My...My Wife?"

Alliahnna, Arna, and Sebastian were thrown for a loop. A shaded gray space shrouded behind them in this moment of shock. Soma outright asked a stranger to be his wife. The poor fool believes in love at first sight. Arna dropped her head so low it almost fell off her shoulders. Wiggling steam streamed from her cherry red face.

"Aren't you a fickle one?" Alliahnna tapped her foot with her hands to her hips. "And quick to fall in love."

"Fickle or no! Agni! We must prepare a gown befitting my new bride!"

Alliahnna punched him, "SHE ISN'T GOING TO BE YOUR BRIDE!" His stupidity never ceased to amaze her. Arna was going to faint from the shellshock. She just punched a Prince. What else does she do? Spank him when he's bad? "Aren't going to try and at least woo her before slapping a ring on her finger?" He was relentless with her.

"That takes too long! The proof is before me!" He gestured to Alliahnna while glaring at Sebastian.

"Don't cause Agni trouble!" Alliahnna scolded him again. "Speaking of trouble - Agni." He stood straight. "Would you mind watching over our guest for a moment? I need to talk to Sebastian about something."

"Of course, Lady Alliahnna."

"Thank you. And you!" She shoved more books into Soma's hands. She swung an arm to the desk, "Back to studying! Arna, if he bothers you, swat him with this." She handed her a rolled up piece of news paper.

"I'M NOT A DOG!" Soma roared.

"THEN STOP TRYING TO MARK YOUR TERRITORY!" She roared back, pushing Sebastian to the farthest end of the hallway. Soma growled animally, gnawing on the air. Agni stroked his chin pensively. Has she not told him about her offspring?

Alliahnna hid herself and Sebastian in a lounge. She double checked no one had followed her, and shared an interesting bit of news Zanosuke and Jasper gave her. Sebastian was stunned. "Alois Trancy? Dead?"

"Yes." Alliahnna sat to a chair, folding her hands in her lap. "Zano and Jasper informed me moments ago." Sebastian was utterly flabbergasted. His brother and father appearing out of the blue aside, Alois' death is news to him. Strange he hadn't sensed something like this. "His soul wasn't collected. That's why nothing went amiss to you." She commented as if hearing his disconcertion. Sebastian furrowed his brow. He let Alliahnna pick his brain, wanting her to finish her report. "They say Claude was the one to kill him."

"How distasteful…" Sebastian folded his arms. "To kill one's own master…"

"I thought you weren't allowed to lay a hand on those you've made a contract with." Alliahnna's new to the demon role. She has yet to make a contract with a human. Reason entirely personal. Sebastian is taking care to educate her on the rules, guidelines, and etiquettes involved.

"You are not!" Sebastian snarled. "A demon's sworn duty is to serve their master with their utmost loyalty and heed their every command without fail. Never should you raise a hand or murder them." The temptation arises very often. But a true butler stays their hand.

"What happens if you do?" She asked anxiously. "What happens if you kill your master?"

"Normally, Hell would spirit the offending butler away. A punishment more agonizing and grueling than can be properly describe is afflicted to you for several decades. Perhaps a century." Sebastian shuddered at the thought.

Alliahnna swallowed nervously, touching her chest where her seal lied. She's risen back from heinous injuries in the past. But to think there is a punishment so frightening that even Sebastian fears it. She will bear that in mind. "Wait. Normally?" Her pensive train halted and shifted to a more curious track. "If that's the case, why hasn't Claude been taken back?"

"I have been pondering that myself. There is but one explanation I can surmise is sound." Alliahnna leaned forward. She was on her toes in nervous anticipation. "When a human dies, their soul departs the mortal coil. Or a Reaper comes to collect it. It becomes inaccessible to the butler." Neither of which happened, obviously, since Grell never mentioned him. Word of a boy involved with demons wouldn't be silenced by the Queen of the Reapers himself. "Alois Trancy's soul must still remain on this earth."

"How is that possible?" Alliahnna gasped.

"I do not know. But one thing is certain." Sebastian hard stare stiffened her spine. "Claude is weaving a web. One that, with the slightest misstep, he aims to snare us in."

"But...it doesn't matter if he does, right?" Alliahnna looked at the rose in his breast pocket. She may have torn the petals, but her role in the pact remained firm. "You both made a deal that Ciel would claim his revenge with Alois and Claude as his targets." The rub being Alois is no longer available. "If Claude killed Alois…" Alliahnna cringed, fraught with worry. "The deal isn't voided, is it?!"

Sebastian groaned under his breath. A very prudent question. One that has Sebastian stumped. "...I won't pretend to know what is going on in that butler's mind."

Alliahnna won't venture guesses either. His motives for killing Alois are a mystery. But his reasonings are one they both can agree on. "Ciel…" She moaned. Sebastian tensed up. "If he killed Alois...it has to be because he wants Ciel." Claude's cold stare sent chills scaling her skin. "I haven't forgotten that look in his eye when he tasted Ciel's blood."

"Nor have I." Sebastian's stomach tied to knots. The rapture ensnaring him. The absolute adulation that enveloped him. "Nor have I forgotten how he looked when he tasted yours! Which reminds me!" Sebastian quickly - if not slow enough to savor - ran his tongue up Alliahnna's cheek, and pecked a kiss.

"UGH! HEY!" Alliahnna yelped, jumping back. She cupped the deep red cheek. "What the Hell, Sebastian?!" Sebastian chuckled perversely, licking his lips with a lascivious stare. She tasted of fresh blossoms with a hint of tart juices from a passion fruit. "Why'd you-"

"My Lord often refers to me as his loyal dog." Sebastian chortled, stroking a thumb to her licked cheek. "I am merely marking what is rightfully mine."

Alliahnna's red cheeks puffed as she growled. He's so embarrassing sometimes. No! ALL THE TIME! "Can you please refrain from being perverted for one day?!" She twisted left to right, expecting Soma or someone to be watching around the corner. He must really be enthralled by Arna if he isn't lurking. She didn't sense anyone outside the door. "I'm still sore from Paris, you know?!"

"Serves you right for the distance you kept me at." Sebastian playfully pouted.

"That doesn't mean you need to-" She blushed madly, gulping her dangerous words.

Sebastian's wolfish grin put her in a spot. "Does not mean I need to what, My Adorable Lady…?" He breathed, backing her to the wall.

"N-N-NOTHING!" She squealed. Sebastian leaned on a elbow above her head. That smug smirk of his darkened her blush. "I wasn't going to say anything!" She tried to sink with her back plastered to the wall.

"Are you certain?" Sebastian purred. Alliahnna was trapped. She whimpered at the thought of what Sebastian was about to do. When he gets like this, Alliahnna normally ends up bent over a desk. DING! DING! DING! A bell tolled. It was noon. Time for tea. Alliahnna never felt so relieved. "Oh well." Sebastian was disappointed. He wrapped an arm around her waist, pulling her close as he snaked the other hand to her cheek. "I guess our interrogation can wait until tonight. I saved your handcuffs." That's it. Alliahnna was done for. He life is flashing before her eyes.

Tanaka arranged a small picnic table in the gardens near the Estate's stream. The trickling of the flowing water emanated a serenity that would undoubtedly complement the particular brand of tea intended to be served. And the cultivation of the flora surrounding them created a countryside appeal. With blue skies for miles around, the atmosphere was at it's peak.

"Today we have Nilgiri Tea." Sebastian announced, pouring his Lord and Lady each a cup. He demonstrated his pouring skills for Arna, earning an entranced stare. Agni and Paula saw to Soma and Elizabeth. Lao would be drinking without Ran-Mao. Something about her not being one for tea. "I expect you will appreciate it's refreshing aroma and rich flavor."

"Nilgiri, eh?" Soma wafted the tea to his nose. "This brings back memories."

"I'f I'm correct…Nilgiri means Blue Mountain." Lao tasted a tiny sip of the rich tea. "This blend fetches an especially good price."

"This is one of Schneizel's favorites." Alliahnna reminisced. Arna ogled her curiously. "Oh. Schneizel is the Count of Paris, and my adoptive father."

"GOODNESS!" Arna gasped, covering her mouth. "You were adopted by the Count of Paris? Amazing."

To spare Alliahnna the obligation of a long, winded explanation, Sebastian placed their afternoon snack at the table. "Accompanying the tea is a Dundee Cake." The evenly sliced rectangular cakes resembled a fruit cake. "This treat is made with a rum batter and various dried fruits studded with roasted almonds."

"It looks delicious!" Elizabeth gushed. She dug into her cake without delay.

(Arna POV)

Cakes, tea, a stream. This is all very lovely, but not the reason why I am here. Being lost in thought as I was, the butler put me on the spot by stating I was admiring the cup. Once again I was subjected to the origins of the cup, and the noble woman who owned it previously. All very interesting, but very useless. I am losing my patience for this place and the people within it. A Prince proposing to me, a shady President frightening me, and a house staff so incompetent they nearly burn down the house they're supposed to manage. And Lady Alliahnna! What sort of woman punches a Prince and behaves the way she does. This house is full of madness.

I need to get away from these people! Already leading into the third hour of my arrival, I can say with absolute confidence that I have successfully infiltrated the home. I have to confirm my entry with my boss. If I don't, and he gets antsy or suspicious, this whole operation will go up in smoke! And I've beared with that Hyperactive Midford Brat for too long to trip at the finish line now!

Arno went to set her teacup back to the saucer her. Her wrist tightened and she lost grip. The tea spilled to her dress, causing the others to gasp.

"Oh goodness!" Elizabeth cried. The tea soiled the dress. It won't be easy to dab out.

"I...I'm so sorry!" Arna panicked. "I'll clean it up right away!"

"No need." Alliahnna declined. "Sebastian, see to the mess. I'll help her into another gown."

"Are you sure, My Lady?"

"Yes. Mey-Rin is helping in the kitchen, and it isn't proper for you to see a woman in her bare." And she wouldn't allow it, either. Alliahnna studied Arna's form closely. She's slightly taller. But...and it pains her to do this for sentimental reasons. "Ciel. Do you suppose…"

She need not finish. "That dress will do nicely." He permitted.

"Alright…" Her voice cracked. "Please. Come with me." Alliahnna escorted Arna to the manor.

Arno disrobed her dress behind the cover in the dressing room. Alliahnna found an old frock currently not in use and lied it to the couch. It was still in remarkable shape after all these years. And still in touch with modern fashion. It will be worn wonderfully by her. The blue will highlight her pale skin, and make her eyes gleam. The jewel at the crop collar will serve as an eye pleaser. And the floral patterns on the skirt gave it an elegance beyond compare.

"Alright...hold still…" Alliahnna helped her into a new corset and underdress, ensuring both fit her frame.

"I must apologize for being an inconvenience to you." Arna moaned.

"Not at all." Alliahnna laughed. She helped Arna into the dress. The hips and bust were a little tricky. Guess Arna fills out more. Alliahnna started to feel a bit competitive.

"May I ask who this dress belonged to?"

Warmth coated Alliahnna's smile as she loosened the bust slightly. "It belonged to our late mother." Arna's eyes widened. "This was her favorite dress. I'm glad we can put it to use." Arna wanted to decline the dress, but was already in it and would feel rude saying she didn't want it. Once Alliahnna fixed her hair with a flora hair piece, and place pearls to her neck, Arna was hypnotized by how beautiful it looked. "Absolutely stunning…"

Knock, knock, knock. "Lady Alliahnna. May I enter?" Sebastian called.

"Please." Alliahnna allowed.

Sebastian entered on the side of caution. He was relieved to see Arna dressed and looking well. "My goodness! Is this lovely young lady our guest?" He fawned. "I hardly recognized you."

"Alright, that's enough." Alliahnna halted the charming. "Did you need something?"

"Indeed. The guests for the ball are about to arrive. Lord Phantomhive wishes for your appearance when they do."

"Very well." She can't believe it's so late already. Time flies when you're helping a friend change her clothes. "Arna, we have to step away. Will wait for us in Elizabeth's room?"

"As you wish." She nodded. "Thank you both for your help."

"Not at all." Alliahnna dismissed. "Despite what others think of us, we're happy to lend aid wherever its needed." She put on her charm, enamouring Arna. "That's just the sort of people we are."

"The sort of people...you are…" Arna took her words to heart. She began to wonder if rumors of them were truly as baseless as they claim.

Just before the guests arrived, Ciel and Alliahnna changed from their casual wear to formal. A match sapphire blue suit and dress, complete with small top hats clipped to their hair. The tail of Ciel's coat and Alliahnna's parted from skirt bore similar color schemes and patterns. From boots to gloves, and Alliahnna's black fan, the pair were a perfect match. Most would question why two people who are identical would go to such lengths to appear so. They would imagine it'd be tiring. For Ciel and Alliahnna, it was an inside joke.

A carriage strode to a halt in the courtyard. A couple were greeted heartily by Sebastian while Ciel and Alliahnna bowed to them. Mutters from them and the next few guests of how stunning the twins looked caught their ear. A few found them adorable at how they matched. A close pair they were made out to be. The twins were happy others enjoyed themselves at their expense. Unknown to the guests, they might trade clothing for a dull prank.

"Lord and Lady Phantomhive!" Panted words turned their attention to a Scotland Yard coach. Edward Abberline sprinted to them with urgency. "Please pardon my intrusion!"

"Edward! Lovely to see you!" Alliahnna beamed.

"The pleasure is mine, My Lady!" Edward blushed. He couldn't help his wandering eyes. Sebastian's death glare made him put them back in his head. "Ugh! Anyway," He remembered his manners and bowed, "Sorry to barge in like this!"

"Not trouble at all, Inspector." Sebastian feigned glee.

"What brings the yard to my ball, Inspector?!" Ciel demanded gruffly.

"I'm here on patrol. There have been a number of suspicious disappearances at balls, lately." Ciel, Alliahnna, and Sebastian were taken aback by the news. "The cowardly scoundrel targets young maidens. I thought you should be warned."

"This news would have been pertinent to hear BEFORE our guests started arriving!" Ciel snarled. Another headache he doesn't need.

"I apologize for my delayed report. Unfortunately, there are several other balls in full swing this evening."

"We understand, Inspector." Alliahnna set a hand to Ciel's shoulder. She would remind her brother that The Yard can only do so much with so little manpower. "Please, do your best to catch this madman."

"I can assure you with the utmost confidence, My Lady." Edward saluted to her. "The Yard will catch him and bring him to justice. I ask that you keep a close eye on the guests you receive and report any odd happenings."

"But of course." Sebastian assured him.

(Arna POV)

A perpetrator who is whisking away young women in the middle of balls. His methods display a certain confidence and arrogance if he is intruding crowded affairs. At the same time, it confirms he possesses a level of skill that far surpasses a normal abductor. My previous assumptions were correct. My time here is drawing short, and the appearance of a kidnapper is going to drastically complicate things. I must confirm my entry with my employer, and then proceed.

True to form, noble homes are outfitted with phone booths in this modern age. Everyone was preoccupied with the ball. Giving me the perfect window. Although, I would be lying if I said I wasn't concerned someone would spot me.

My employer was waiting by the phone for my report. I gave him the summarized version. Ane her was quite pleased with me.

"So you've successfully infiltrated their ranks. Good. To think it only took a month for you to get an invitation to Phantomhive manor." Under normal circumstances, I would have to play my role for the better part of a year before being welcomed. How trusting and foolish you are, Elizabeth. "That girl is a bloody fool for believing you to be a respectable young lady. Well, you know your job." Indeed I do. "Kill that damn butler, and the sister as well. Bring me Ciel Phantomhive at once! The butler and sister use strange tricks and skills. Be careful of them." They do strike me as an odd and formidable pair. But only in presence. Nothing more. "We will avenge Azzurro and the Ferro Family! I suppose tonight we'll find out just how much of an expert assassin you are...Mad Dog of Venezia." Oh you will get your money's worth, sir. Of that I can assure you.

"So this is where you've disappeared to." Arna stiffened to stone at the voice. She feasibly tucked the blade back into her breasts. Slowly she turned. The Butler had a menacing look about him. Be it the lighting or...how long was he standing there? "Please pardon me, Miss. But the ball is about to begin." He stepped to the side to allow her to exit. "Lady Elizabeth is waiting for you in her room. Why not see to her?"

"Y-Yes. Alright!" Her voice skipped with her pounding heart. He was acting pleasant enough. Perhaps she is imagining things. "Thank you, sir." She curtsied. Her legs jittered as she struggled to walk in steady strides. She urged herself not to turn around.

Sebastian closed the phone booth door. Alliahnna stood leaned against the wall. Her brow was furrowed with a dark malice. "Poor Lizzie…" She rasped monotonously. "News like this would kill someone with such a trusting spirit." She slowly opened her eyes, projecting the rippling pink to the floor. A blaze would set with how harsh she stared. "I should kill that treacherous wench."

"Not yet." While Sebastian agreed dealing with the interloper is crucial in order to preserve the evening, and protect Elizabeth and Ciel, acting too brashly too soon could have hidden consequences. "We must allow her to show her hand before making too swift a judgement."

"The Mad Dog of Venice…" Alliahnna repeated the pseudonym ominously. "The judgement is cast in her name." Alliahnna moved from the wall, glaring malevolently to the woman disappearing around the corner. "But yes. I'll grant her a wide berth. However," Sebastian glanced from the corner of his eye, "Lizzie already has friends who aren't what they seem. This woman isn't allowed to be part of us."

"Indeed. You are most correct, My Lady. And worry not." Sebastian hungrily likced his lips. His pink, glimmering eyes surrounded the mysterious woman in a Hellish aura. "I'll leave no trace of her when the moment comes."

To be continued
