From Semi-Dedicated Weirdo: "I have an idea, if you're still taking requests. Remember how Mabel 'just so happened' to have the grappling hook after the Gideon robot fell in "Gideon Rises"? Maybe you could write a little something in which Mabel left the grappling hook at the shack/on the bus, and both the twins fall off the bridge with Lil' Gideon. Maybe about their thoughts as they're falling, or the aftermath? That'd be interesting. I love all of these one-shots, especially the dark ones! Keep the awesome writing going!"

Oh, no. Another dark one-shot... Bring it on! (And thank you, by the way! You guys are awesome and I love reading these reviews :) they make my day)

Fallen Ones

She had had it with her. Why hadn't she brought it? Why hadn't she grabbed it from the bus when they were scrambling out the door, with her brother dragging her out wide-eyed saying, "Go! We have to go! He's coming!"

The wind was rushing past their faces so fast, the ground so far below but gradually nearing it the longer they fell. The gigantic robot was not too far away, Gideon probably inside. It wasn't much comfort knowing he was also subject to their fate.

Mabel glanced over at her brother, who was just below her and looked terrified. A brief surge of pride hit her heart at how hard he fought for that creep to let go of her just moments ago. He was always so protective over her, placing himself in dangerous situations to save her in this mysterious town.

How was she ever going to repay him for the countless times he had saved her, when she couldn't do anything to save them now?

Dipper was having a hard time breathing properly as they fell. He was struggling not to panic, not to feel scared of the inevitable - but he was just a kid. Only twelve, and he wasn't even going to make it to his thirteenth birthday. All because Gideon wanted some journal.

He looked up at his sister and found she was staring at him too. Guilt slowly took hold of his heart as he remembered how he had hesitated to help her when the robot had begun to walk away. She didn't deserve this. He had only been trying to help, and now she was going to die with him. Mabel didn't deserve this.

Now would be a fantastic time for the grappling hook, he thought bitterly as he recalled his twin's eagerness at the beginning of the summer once she got the item from the gift shop.

The Mystery Shack. Soos. Wendy. Grenda and Candy. Grunkle Stan. Her parents.

She wasn't going to see them again.

Tears welled up in her eyes as the ground grew larger before her. It wasn't fair. Why hadn't everything been okay after Bill was defeated? Why did Gideon have to ruin everything?

I'm sorry, Dipper. I should have thought ahead like you would have.

I'm sorry, Mabel. I should have thought of a plan before we just ran off like that.

The boy swallowed hard as he noticed how clearly he was beginning to see the forest below. He didn't want it to just end like this. Was this really going to be his fate?

He blindly reached up and felt a hand grasp his own. Swallowing once more, he shut his eyes, the guilt eating away inside.

I'm so sorry.

His hand was a comfort in hers, the bond between them strong even now as the forest rose to meet them so quickly. The older twin shut her eyes tight, feeling her heart pound in her chest like an ominous warning. How did everything go so wrong?

I'm so sorry.

And they knew no more.

Welp... I'm going to go stare at a wall and rethink EVERYTHING.
