From Old Man McGuest (Guest): "You're doing a great job with these. You are a gifted author, I can tell, you can take any prompt and write it.
For my request, I would like to see one where the gang watch the Civil War football game(Oregon vs. Oregon State)"
Thank you! (I love your guest name, very original) I don't know about any prompt, but I guess I could try. As for the request, I personally have no clue about anything football (so sorry) but I will do my best! Note: It will probably be more about the characters than the actual game, just warning you now, haha. Also, this takes place a few days after The Golf War.
Family Bonding Fun
"Stop hogging the floor!"
"You have more than enough room, you know."
"Soos, it's starting!"
"You guys are so loud, gosh."
"Remind me again why I agreed to watch this?"
"Because I said I would bedazzle the journal if you didn't."
"Oh, right."
Soos sighed as he listened to the conversation coming from the living room. When he had agreed to watch the football game with the Pines family and Wendy, this wasn't what he'd imagined. Maybe because he had pictured them all getting along a bit better.
"Soos, you're missing it!"
"You know, I don't even like football. Maybe I should just go - "
"Grunkle Stan, don't you dare, " Mabel warned as Soos came back and sat next to the armchair where Stan sat. The preteens and Wendy were lying on the ground below at his feet staring at the TV. Dipper's gaze kept wandering to Wendy on occasion and when she caught him after the twelfth time, she smiled and he turned strawberry red before pointedly staring at the TV screen.
The handyman sighed quietly again. He wasn't that interested in the game, honestly. He'd mainly come because a) he wasn't busy and had nothing to do, b) Stan had closed the Shack for the day, and c) Mabel had given him the puppy dog eyes.
"Do you guys even know how football works?" Wendy asked after fifteen minutes of Stan and Mabel arguing about what was happening. She was glancing at her cell phone, texting Tambry while pretending to be interested in the game.
"You have to get the ball through the fork thing, right?" Mabel said sheepishly, trying not to flinch when the older girl laughed. "I'm guessing that's a no."
"Mabel, the goal is to get the most points, right? So the teams need to get the ball into the endzone for a touchdown, and then they usually kick the ball through the...fork thing, yeah."
Soos raised an eyebrow. "You know stuff about football?"
The ginger shrugged. "My dad makes us watch it. I thought I was getting out of it by coming here, but I guess not."
"Well, this is required watching, missy, so put that phone away where I can't see it. I'm not blind... yet."
Wendy rolled her eyes but hid it under her arm as Mabel snickered and her brother elbowed her, still red in the face. Clearly someone wasn't quite over their crush just yet, Soos noted internally.
"Why are we watching this anyway, Grunkle Stan?" Dipper inquired, shoving some popcorn into his mouth from the bowl by his sister.
"Because I said so."
"That's not an answer."
Stan glared down at the twelve year old boy. "Because life ain't fair. Now shut up so I can watch the game."
The kid sighed heavily and Soos inconspicuously shoved a bag of Summerween candy he'd kept toward the twins, who eagerly dug in. Wendy noticed and smirked before grabbing a handful of licorice.
"Ooh, he's cute!" Mabel pointed to one of the players from Oregon State.
"Mabel, he's sweaty and years older than you. Also, you can't really see his face because he's wearing a helmet."
"Gee, someone's being a killjoy today."
"Wha - ? No, I'm not!"
"Yes, you are!"
"Mabel, no - !"
"Yup!"
Stan groaned. "Will you two stop it? You're giving me a migraine."
"This is going to be such a long game," grumbled Wendy before burying her face in her hands as the twins ignored their great-uncle's griping.
Soos had to agree with the teenager, despite his usual optimistic attitude.
This is literally my family bonding days from when I was younger. Ah, memories. (If you want to know which one I was, I was usually Dipper in this situation)
