Chapter 50: (Epilogue)

[Two Months Later]

Arturo sat in his office at Cal-U, when he heard a knock on the door.

"Come in!" he shouted.

"Got any time for your favorite student? Or do I have to wait for office hours?" Quinn asked.

"Mr. Mallory, come in, come in!" Arturo replied. "It's very good to see you."

"It has been a while since we've seen each other. We've all been busy." Quinn said.

"So busy that Mr. Brown hasn't been answering my emails. I just keep getting a form email telling me he's on tour and not answering fan-mail." Arturo said.

"Well, it is his big comeback tour. And he's been selling out venues, so I think he's doing alright." Quinn said. "How have you been doing?"

"I've been doing well. The university was willing to give me my old position back, and I'll be teaching classes again this coming fall. Will I see you in my class? You didn't complete the course if I remember correctly..." Arturo replied.

"I'm not sure. I haven't decided if I want to go back to school, I learned so much from sliding, that I'm not sure school can teach me anything anymore." Quinn said.

"There is always more to learn in life." Arturo said. "How is Ms. Welles doing?"

"She's good. We've been working pretty non-stop on renovations to my old house so we can live in it again. She hasn't decided what she wants to do, something with computers I'm sure." Quinn said. "Oh, and Maggie has been helping James out rebuilding his world, but she doesn't know if she'll stay. She told me that they're even researching a way to figure out why she can't breathe here."

"Splendid. And what about the other Mr. Mallory?"

"Colin has been helping out a lot with my mom. She was very happy to have another member of the Mallory family."

"Speaking of families, any word on Michael, Sam or Rebecca?"

"Not yet. As far as I can tell, the outpost is definitely out of sync, and we can no longer access it through sliding. If I had to guess, I'd say that during the slide out, the world went out of sync and disrupted the path of their vortex. They're probably in the position we were in twenty years ago."

"There is one difference."

"What's that?"

"We know they're out there, and we won't stop looking for them. And at least for Michael and Sam, we can provide an explanation to their families and make sure they don't give up hope."

"That's true, Professor. But it's a very different multiverse than it was twenty years ago."

"I'm sure they'll be fine."

"So am I, Professor. So am I..."

The End

[And that's the end of the story... for now. The sliding adventure is just beginning, but I felt that fifty chapters is definitely enough, and it's time for a new story to be told. Plus, the world document I was keeping the story in is almost 300 pages and takes a full minute to open, so I wanted to start a new document anyway. I have a bunch of half-finished chapters, and a whole bunch of new ideas, so the story isn't quite over yet. I also felt that I wanted to finally give Quinn and the others their happy ending, and give closure to stuff from the original show, and it feels nice that even if I stopped here, it is a natural endpoint and not stopping at Chapter 46 in the middle of a story arc. Anyway, stay tuned for the continuing story with The New Adventures of Sliders: The Next Generation...]
