Chapter 14: The rain of the Soul

(Siobhan's POV)

"Grab her" Siobhan screamed as she wrestled with the girl from her vision. Siobhan had hoped that with the girl's mind trying to control all the minds of the students and teachers from Sky High that she wouldn't give much of fight. "Wrong again" thought Siobhan

Casey knocked the girl out with a water based punch that turned to ice on impact and then grinned at Siobhan

"Well, that works" Siobhan said

"Something is wrong" said Colin

"What?" said Siobhan

"Look" he said

She turned to the front of the park where Colin was looking. She saw that none of the Sky High students or teachers had stopped fighting. They were all still under the mind spell of that girl.

"I don't understand" said Siobhan

"We need to find Keeva" said Casey

"I second that decision" said Colin

"Let's go" said Siobhan

"What about her?" asked Casey

"I don't know, leave her?" said Siobhan

"What about trapping her in a mind labyrinth so she can't cause anymore trouble?" said Casey

"Oh, that is a good idea" said Siobhan

Siobhan's eyes glazed over with a shinny white color and the brown haired girl's head seemed to glow as well.

"O.K., done" said Siobhan

"Alright, then lets go" said Colin

(Warren's POV)

"Now she is messing with me" thought Warren

The music had worked for a while but now he was getting images of his fellow students fighting other fellow students? It was crazy.

"See, this is why I know this isn't real but then that means I am going insane?"

(Siobhan's POV)

They had been fighting and searching for what felt like hours but Siobhan knew it couldn't have been more than twenty minutes. The air felt thick with sweat and the charged energy of tribal wielders and Sky High students and teachers lashing powers at each other. Siobhan wished she was simply dreaming but her own aching limbs reminded her that this was too real to be anything else but reality.

"I think I see her by the Sacred Pillar" said Colin as he landed down next to Casey

"we should get there in what? thirty minutes?" said Casey

"Depends on how many mini battles we get in on the way to her" said Colin

"Let's just get moving. I am tired" said Siobhan

(Warren's POV)

Warren slipped into his leather jacket with the ease of having done it a hundred times. "Maybe I will just visit her and see what she is up to. I mean we can still be friends" thought Warren as he headed out of the apartment. He couldn't remember if he had said different to her face. "mmm...I will just have to invent some reason then" thought Warren

The drive to Siobhan's home would normally take a car thirty minutes but Warren didn't drive. He also disliked the bus and that is why he had bought a motorcycle. His mother almost always crossed herself and said a prayer to Mary for him when she saw him drive off.

"It is a wonder she allowed it at all" thought Warren as he weaved in and out traffic

The winter day was brooding over his head. He remembered as he headed out that they sky looked like a pallet mixed with every shade of grey.

"I hope I get there before it rains"

The wind started to kick up but Warren barely noticed as he continued down one street, took a left, and headed up another. When he finally arrived, he figured that it had only taken him about fifteen minutes. "Now, that is making good time" He parked and then just stopped.

Warren stood frozen with a mask of shock and unbelief. He couldn't believe what he was seeing. There were Sky High students and teachers fighting what he could only assume was the residents of the trailer park where Siobhan lived. Powers, which were normally encouraged to be hidden, were being openly. It didn't make sense. "I must be hallucinating" said Warren aloud to himself

Slowly Warren walked toward the fray. He touched the arm of a student he knew from his history class.

"Gordon?"

Gordon turned around and looked at Warren through glassy eyes that were covered in grey mist and then started to attack him with a swarm of locust.

"What the hell?" said Warren

He dodged and then burnt the rest of the locust while he started to move backwards. Then from his left something or someone tried to tackle him. If he hadn't just been avoiding locust it wouldn't have worked. But, as it were, his balance was off and toppled with a thud like a giant Evergreen tree.

"You vile attacker. We may not have powers" said a young voice

"But we still know how to fight" finished another young voice

"What the hell?" repeated Warren

"The others didn't talk" said the first young voice

"Get off of me" said Warren

"No, you tell us who you are" said the first young voice again

"Yeah, and why are you here" said the second young voice

Warren huffed but since these little devils were pinning him on the ground he didn't see how he had much of a choice. Their curly blonde hair was the only thing he could see when he lifted his neck but they had him pinned good. He couldn't even roll over.

"My name is Warren and who are you two?" said Warren

"you didn't answer our second question" said the first young voice

"But he is clearly not possessed" said the second young voice

"O.K." said the first young voice

The two boys climbed off Warren and held their wooden swords in position ready to attack him.

"I'm Ailbe" said the first young voice

"I'm Ailill" said the second young voice

"Those are some strange names" said Warren

"Oh and yours is any better" said Ailbe

"I think so obviously" said Warren

"Ailbe, stop. We have to find Siobhan, remember" said Ailill

"Hey, I am looking for Siobhan, too" said Warren

"Well you are looking in the wrong place. We don't think she is here" said Ailbe

"Oh, but she is here" said Warren

"Oh and how do you know Mr. Smarty pants?" said Ailbe

"We have a bond-thing that I am not saying I believe in but seems like it might be real…and through this bond-thing I know she is here" said Warren quickly

"Oh, you are her mate" said Ailill

"Yes, maybe" said Warren

"Well, then you should start guiding us to her. It's an emergency" said Ailbe

"More than that?" said Warren pointing to the fray

"Yes" said Ailill

"I don't know how"

"Oh please, just feel for her through the bond" said Ailbe

"You should feel her like a glow of light in your mind. Follow the light" said Ailill

Warren closed his eyes and tried to do what they said. He felt like a silly nilly, but soon he saw her or felt her or whatever. He really was not sure any more.

"I got it. The direction that is"

"We will fend off the enemy" said Ailbe

"You lead on" said Ailill

(Siobhan's POV)

The rain had started to fall making it harder to run or fight or even see. Siobhan thought it was pure irony and perhaps the goddess' form of humor.

"I am so happy I am wearing my combat boots" said Casey as she shoved a Sky High student into a muddy puddle

"Well, I wish I was wearing boots" said Siobhan as she quickly glanced down at her green slip-on crocs.

"Who knew we would be outside in the rain fighting off our fellow students?" said Colin

"Well, I sort of knew" said Siobhan

"You didn't know when" said Casey

Siobhan climbed on top of the trailer nearest to her and put her hands over her eyes. She thought she saw Bruce approach her Maimeo.

"Casey, Casey" said Siobhan said as she used her spirit powers to mentally push several student zombies away from her so she could climb down.

"You rang" said Casey

"I need you to make a path through these zombies. I just saw Bruce headed toward my Maimeo" said Siobhan

"Like Moses parting the Red sea?" said Casey

"If you would be so kind"

"You two need any help?" said Colin

"Well, just keep the brainwashed idiots away from me. Nothing much" said Casey

"Your wish is my command" said Colin

"I can help" said Siobhan

"No, save your energy for fighting Bruce" said Casey

Siobhan nodded her head and watched as Casey's eyes turned a dark shade of blue. She imagined it was the color of the ocean when it turned into a giant storm. Water started pouring forth from Casey's hands. Casey slapped her palms together creating a pillar of water. The awesome display of power seemed to scare the brainwashed army of Bruce's and they avoided the three of them. "For now" thought Siobhan

Colin decided that this was the time to support Casey as he feared that her aid to Siobhan in creating this much water would drain all her strength. Casey's eyes blinked from Ocean blue back to green briefly as they met Colin's brown eyes.

"Thanks"

"anytime"

Casey smiled as she turned back toward the waving pillar of water and her eyes once more took on a blue hue.

Siobhan sighed as she witnessed the exchange. She didn't think that such an easy and causal love story was written in the scrolls for her. "maybe goddess you could write it in?" she prayed silently

The water tower split into two walls pushing the Sky High army and the Tautha De Danann away from a clear path to the Sacred Pillar.

"First time you ever wanted to go see Bruce" teased Casey

"and the last" said Siobhan

"Adh mor ort" said Colin

"Thanks" Siobhan

(Bruce's POV)

"Finally old hag, your reign will end" snarled Bruce

"you never understood young one. It isn't about being in charge" said Keeva

Bruce didn't acknowledge her words but instead hit her with another blast of his wind powers. He wasn't going to let her work her spirit power on him. He was prepared. But apparently not prepared enough as he grunted under Keeva's powers.

Keeva continued her conversation with ease while Bruce struggled to repel her:

"The strength of our people is in the earth that is in our goddess who feeds and nourishes us"

"I will rule this earth and then I will have it all – even your granddaughter"

Keeva laughed at him and knocked him down on the ground with her next attack.

"Oh child, the spirit of our people cannot be ruled. No one rules us. We are guided, yes. But ruled, no. You will not rule us and you will not rule Siobhan"

Bruce felt like his head was splinting from the inside out. He didn't know how but he managed to push his powers out till it sucked up some dirt into a wind tunnel. He flung it toward Keeva's face.

She blinked and sputtered as she tried to get the dirt out of her eyes and mouth. The pain in Bruce's head stopped and he used his wind power to circle more dirt into her eyes.

"Never say never, old women"

Then with a flourish, Bruce called out to power of the wind in himself and forced all the wind he could through Keeva's body. The look of horror and shock on her face caused him to grin. "I am going to win" he thought as Keeva's body blew up like a balloon and then popped.

His grin spread even wider when he turned around and saw Siobhan running toward him shouting. "My day keeps getting better and better" he thought

(Siobhan's POV)

"No" screamed Siobhan as she watched her Maimeo's spirit leave and the remains of her body fall down like jig saw puzzle pieces

"Now you are all mine" said Bruce

Siobhan felt a surge of anger bubble in her like she had never before felt and her tongue lashed out first:

"You son of a whore, how dare you claim me. I am more than the earth below or the wind in your palm. I am Siobhan Shaman to my people and voice of the goddess"

"Keeva spoke pretty words too. It didn't do her much good, will it do you any good?"

Suddenly it seemed that her rage was sending her to a new dimension or plane of reality. She saw herself facing off to Bruce. She saw the whole battlefield. But instead of people she saw light. It seemed as if every person had a different shade of light and some lights were dimmer than others. "This is amazing" Siobhan thought. Then she noticed how many strings of light were connected to Bruce. "That must be the mind control but how can that be?" she thought "He is not of the spirit clan"

She shook her head and instead tried to focus on why she was here and how it would help her. That was when she noticed her hands were encased in fire. "What?"

"My child" said a voice

"goddess?"

"You must use what you have. You must severe the strings"

"with what knife or scissors?"

"Is not your hands answer enough?"

Siobhan looked from her hands to the strings of light then gingerly she touched one of the strings. It caught on fire and the fire licked up line after line of light. It was like dynamite and it was headed for Bruce.

"The minds will be released and my son brought back to me for wrath" said the goddess

"What should I do?" said Siobhan

"Go and fight"

Siobhan landed back in her body and face to face with a wind attack from Bruce. She blocked with a force shield and then thrust a force of energy toward him.

"You are done. Your army are not bound to you anymore and soon your mind will be toast" she said

"I am prepared for your mind tricks"

"This one is a fire that won't be put out easily"

"Oh really, did you convince your reluctant mate to help out? Or is this some bluff to get me to put down my guard?" mocked Bruce

"This is foreshadowing from the goddess" said Siobhan

"I'm so scared"

"Go to hell, Bruce"

It was then that the fire which Siobhan had unleashed caught up to Bruce. His eyes rolled back in his head and he dropped to the ground. His body started shaking. His skin turned bright red and caused the water soaked in his clothes to steam. Then his skin started bubbling till his entire body melted into the earth leaving only charred clothing behind.

Siobhan sunk down to the ground exhausted. Her wet hair clung to her wet face and she couldn't even feel the tears as they slide down her cheeks.

77777777777777

(Warren's POV)

"Siobhan" said the twins when they found her sitting in a heap around the Sacred Pillar

"Siobhan" they repeated

She didn't seem to hear them and she had not moved at all

"Is she alive?" said Ailbe

"Yes" said Warren

"Siobhan, you have to come. Its Mamai" said Ailill as he shook Siobhan's shoulder

"No, not her too" moaned Siobhan as her tear streaked eyes turned to face Ailill

"Ailill, what are you doing here?"

"Dadai sent us to find you or Maimeo. But we couldn't find you guys. Mamai is hurt bad" said Ailill with tears streaming down his face

"The baby?" asked Siobhan

"We don't know" said Ailbe

Warren felt he was intruding. He had not realized that the two twin boys were her brothers. But now that he watched them he could see the family resemblance. They all shared the same gray eyes. He turned to go when Ailill noticed him:

"Don't go"

"I don't belong here"

"Warren are you here, too?" said Siobhan

"Maybe"

"Oh yes, I remember I am the one not basing things in reality" said Siobhan

"I might have been mistaken"

"Really?"

"Well, yeah" Warren said and shrugged his shoulders

"Siobhan, Mamai" said Ailill

"Come with us" said Siobhan

"Sure" said Warren

Siobhan and Warren followed Ailill and Ailbe as they guided them to where their Mamai and Dadai had last been. The ground was torn up from all the earth tribe wielders and there were ditches and valleys that had not been there that morning. The rain created small lakes and puddles that had to be forded through.

"I didn't remember you living in a jungle" said Warren

"The earth tribe can reshape the world literally" said Siobhan

"I was trying to calm you with some humor" said Warren

She looked at her brothers and then whispered, "My grandma just died and I don't know if my mom or unborn sibling are alive. I don't feel like laughing"

"Sorry"

"Dadai" screamed the twins

Siobhan looked up sharply to see her Dad covered in blood. "Oh no" said Siobhan as more tears flowed from the depths of her soul

"My children, your Mamai is alive" said Siobhan's Dadai

"But…the blood?" said Siobhan

"It was too early. I did what I could. Your sister…she didn't make it" spluttered Siobhan's Dadai as tears also flowed down his face

Siobhan turned to Warren and buried her face in his shoulder. Warren could feel her pain through the bond and somehow knew she was grieving not just her lost family members but for everything. "Perhaps that is what it means to be Shaman" He thought as he circled her into a hug and just held her.

If you have forgotten:

"Adh mor ort" means basically "good luck"

"Maimeo" means Grandma

"Mamai" means mom

"Dadai" means Dad
